just one more soriano!!!!!
Big K for the dour one. Time to lock Scutaro up on a slider and get out of Dodge for the night.
Alot of phillie fan wannabe folks in our stands
Mac’s prolly got rain-x on the specs
May 23rd, 20099:41 pm
Doc @ 9:38 … yes, we’ve heard. The June Freight Train is bearing down on us. Frank Wren has been warned.
where was this rain at????
Soriano is better than Bonzo.
Soriano is our best reliever. Gonzalez was used last night. Soriano hasn’t been used in a few days. So we use Gonzalez to start the 9th. Why? And can anyone think of a reason that Gonzalez is our closer? Other than he is.
Way to go Soriano! Soriano needs to be the closer. Gonzo is too uneven. One game good one game bad.
YEEESSSS !!!! Helll Yea!!!!
Another 1-Run Win At Home Lovely!!!!!!!!
We Are “CREEPIN ON AH COME UP”!!!!
Too interesting for my taste. Thank goodness for the win though. Soriano!
Winners not whiners.

May 23rd, 20099:42 pm
Oh maaaaan! Phew!
Scutaro flies to Anderson in left field. Braves win! Braves win!
That KJ insurance HR was the difference.
Soriano gets it done and bails Gonzo out!
Cox is an idiot, Cox is a genius, Cox is an idiot, Cox is a genius!
2 games over 500 thanks to the team with the 2nd best record in baseball.
That also gives us a winning homestand. Woot!
Whew, that was a little nerve racking there…
Winning homestand!!!! Thank you Soriano!!!! That, my peoples, is what a closer does. Take note Bobby Cox, we need a change.
Thankyou Soriano, If Gonzo wants to keep his spot better work on that control, but hey always great to have a second option. Not a lof teams have that.
Man Soriano Pitched Clutch!!!!!
That 2 Headed Snake in Our Bull-pen Is Finally Paying Dividends…!
Good move Bobby…lol!
Another win folks..gotta love it!
Now that a closer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
See ya gonzo……………
HR Review in the BOS/NYM game.
Another good game. Thank you Soriano, I nominate you to be the closer.
May 23rd, 20099:43 pm
Is it too much to ask that we win a blowout tomorrow? Not sure I can handle another game like this…
I’m getting too old for this stuff! Can’t we just blow away a team every once and awhile.
I’ll take that!
Man did we miss those three in the pen last year! Soriano is CLUTCH!
And THAT is why you don’t trade Soriano. Case closed.
Vinings Jim, you have the wrong Soriano.
May 23rd, 20099:44 pm
Mets an out away from losing. Looks like we’re gonna be moving in even closer.
Papelbon just blew the save!
Amstel Light commercial must be destroyed…
its time for me to eat some major crow….
with kawakami going against halladay last night i said that would be a for sure loss and we would most definitely would lose this series… well, i was obviously very wrong. now, lets make me look even worse by getting the sweep tomorrow!!!!!!!
I need to go take a pill.
Ryan in TN
I’m officially starting the campaign Soriano for Closer, send Gonzo packing!!!!!!!!!!!
DOB, did someone suggest trading Soriano? What an idiot.
May 23rd, 20099:45 pm
I know some of you whiners hate it that the Braves won and even worse it was a 420 foot HR by our SECOND BASEMAN KELLY JOHNSON!! that was the winner.
DOB, exactly right! Even though I haven’t seen many saying to trade Soriano for awhile, but maybe I missed something.
Bet Soriano IS the closer now.
Trying to get mets-sox to load on mlb.tv and it ain’t doing nothing. don’t know if the pens-canes feed is screwing it up or what (and I am not turning that one off).
It was those wet droplets falling from the sky during the last 3 or 4 innings.
May 23rd, 20099:46 pm
I called It on Thursday…That the braves we gonna be lucky to win One…
But The last two Nights They Have Come Correct against the Beast in the East….
Now If we can Play Baseball Like this against the Jubroni teams of the league (Washington, Pittsburgh, etc)…
I’m Still Strong on my opinion That the Braves Show Up When they play Good teams….!
Mets takes the lead
Braves are winning series despite their faults. Strong starting pitching and timely hitting makes a big difference doesn’t it?
We’ve seen this formula before with the Braves and it can work.
a lot of analysts are saying that if we fall out of contention he would be one of the first to go. do you think we would hang on to him and gonzo no matter what? or you think if we were far out of the race we would deal them both and rebuild?
yeah…my bad, its alphonso, not raphael soriano
May 23rd, 20099:47 pm
Someone on the blog yappin’ about “the Mets have already lost….”
How bout YOU STFU!!!! Idiot!
Did Paps blow the save? ESPN’s gamecast has it listed as runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs
I think Gonzo Owe’s Soriano A Bottle of Patron Silver For tonight…!!
It’s All Good!
Mets get a HR off Papelbon on review.
Mets lead Sox 3-2 in the top of the ninth.
Glad we got it all in. Fun one.
Take care all…
#$%^! Replay overturned double. Now Mets lead 3-2 after Beckett spent eight innings sticking it right up New York’s tailpipe.
May 23rd, 20099:48 pm
Whats going on in Boston? Gameday still showing replay delay but that can’t be…
Uh, no! We need both. Soriano is going to goove one sooner or later and then people will hate him..again. But they should share the role.
May 23rd, 20099:49 pm
Within 1.5 games of division lead. It’s time to fire Bobby and FW, trade one of the best pitchers in the game JJJ for the perennial MVP candidate Quentin (major roll of eyes), start re-building for 2010 since we can’t beat the perfect WS winner phillies and the mets (best team in majors since they run a lot!!)..
Anyway, mets have come back against the 9th inning human rain delay, Papelbon.
Ryan in Tn, I agree Soriano for closer, but no way do they need to trade Gonzo…NO WAY! He struggles at times, but that was the first time he’s gone without the save with more than two runs that he’s been given in his last 14, I believe they said. Chill on Gonzo.
Blow-Sox!!!! COME ON!!!!
mets just scored 2 on pap top 9. 2-3 mets
May 23rd, 20099:50 pm
Jerald – I walk in the door as the game is ending and post something totally moronic – I thought I’d get by with the end of the game celebration, but well-played, sir. I have no excuse (beyond one too many Heinekens).
Nice to have 2 solid closers when many teams don’t even have one. At least one of them will usually be able to pitch in the rain.
May 23rd, 20099:51 pm
Yeah, Soriano can make mistakes too…like when G.Sheffield launched one last Wednesday to tie the game in NY…nobody’s perfect
No More Bobby
Do we really trust Gonzalez as the closer? NO!!!
May 23rd, 20099:52 pm
Since when has Bobby done the sensible thing? Gonzo will stay the closer with Soriano and Moylan getting a stray save here and there. Bobby does not come from the school of “what have you done for me lately?”
Sox game on channel 123 !
Frank from KS
Nice win boys. Let’s keep it going.
Powell on the radio broadcast mentioned that it looked as tho Glavine wasn’t having much fun tonight. Don’t know if that had anything to do with any pain, etc in his shoulder or not.
I hope not. I am one of the slim number of people that is looking forward to seeing him in the rotation this season.
Why are some of you wasting brain space thinking about the choking Mutts? Really just a waste of energy that could be better spent thinking about a booger on the can!
Come on Sox!
May 23rd, 20099:54 pm
Steve from OH
I think Anderson just ordered dinner for me tonight after that AB…crow.
I like to have mine with a sprinkle of bitter on it. How do you like yours?
May 23rd, 20099:55 pm
Putz walks Youklis to lead off the ninth in Boston. Mets lead 3-2. Jason Bay at the plate.
May 23rd, 20099:56 pm
Nothing will change with the closers. If you think one of the premier closers in the game gets demoted for pitching in the rain to the team with the 2nd best record in baseball and getting squeezed by the ump at the same time, YOU’RE WRONG>
May 23rd, 20099:57 pm
OK, That was a good play.
Doggone lucky Mets!
David Wright almost throws the ball away, but Castillo saves the Golden Child. The Mutts get the out at second. Bay on first. 1 out.
May 23rd, 20099:58 pm
Good Game On The MLB Network, Bos and The Melts
Lets See if JD Screw Can Do Anything!
Drew flies to right. 2 out.
Man I’m Glad We Got Rid of That OverPaid JD SCREW!

Lucky Turds! NY Got Lucky!
wow. mets won. that sucks….

May 23rd, 200910:01 pm
Ball game in Boston- Mets win. Dang.
nice defensive plays by the Muts in the 9th.
Wow the American League East has been so impressive huh?
Mets win 3-2…Putz closed the game for them…anyone know about their regular closer Rodriguez?
May 23rd, 200910:02 pm
Lowell nearly hits one past the SS who dives to stop it. The slow Lowell is thrown out at first easily to end the game. Red Sox lose. Braves still one game behind the Mutts.
Braves have their ace on the mound tomorrow for the sweep. Let’s hope the Braves can push a couple of runs across for JJ.
May 23rd, 200910:03 pm
Dave, as we know, the Braves won tonight. We have to be impressed how they’re playing during this stretch of games, when Chipper has missed time. It’s amazing to think that we are only 1 1-2 games out of first, with all the injury time that Chipper and Mccann have missed.
My choice for the poll of who starts Tuesday would be Tommy Hanson. I’d love to see this guy pitch. As you well know, having covered the Braves for many years, Hall of Fame guys named Glavine and Smoltz made their major league debuts on the road, because, from what I read, Bobby wanted them to do so, even when he was the GM, to avoid the whole “In front of the home fans” jitters.
It will be interesting to see what Bobby does.
Looks like the NL East is more impressive so far
Yeah Lowell makes Brian McCann look like a speeding June freight train. I mean, he wasn’t even halfway down the line lol.
Damn Bobby for putting Kelly in the leadoff spot yet again. Has the donk still not figured out that Kelly can’t hit worth a sou there? Ozzie for manager, he’ll do it right and keep those boys in line. We should all quit blogging till DOB makes Bobby change his stupid ways. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity afterall, even with the hundreds of possible outcomes in baseball. Where’s that damn tar pot?
May 23rd, 200910:04 pm
Random stat that I just stumbled across and is kinda intresting:
Every team in the NL East except the mets is below .500 at home and only the nats have a sub .500 record on the road…
May 23rd, 200910:05 pm
We wouldn’t have won tonight had KJ and JF not stepped up. If we could get some consistent decent play from those guys we might do something
May 23rd, 200910:07 pm
Damn Mets. Homerun in the top of 9th to take the lead(and it was an instant replay homer). And JJ Putz was absolutely hamered, but David Wright and Lus Castillo made a tremendous play to save the game.
Who say’s the NL East is worst than the AL East. Phillies are the world champions, and right now the NL East teams are beating the crap off AL East teams.
