May 24th, 20094:23 pm
Shaf with the big double….
K-FER Finally gets a hit…Man hitting is contageous…!
after they won the 2nd game against the nationals at home – second series of the season- 4wins and 1 lose back then
Macon Braves (RIP)
OK nolie, pulling my foot outta my mouth now for not catching the sarcasm in your earlier post…
That’s what I get for being sober while blogging I guess
May 24th, 20094:24 pm
The Bravos are playing good right now, no question, but another factor is that the Jays lost 3 in a row coming into the series, and that helped too.
TnBrian(taking DOB's spot today)
TnJeff, I don’t know…busy listening to Cash on the headsets. Really don’t feel like looking it up. Sorry…
guess Frenchy’s too good to run out a dropped third strike too
Chipper needs to suck it up…I’m getting tired of every time he gets a hangnail or he bites his tongue he sits out for a few games. Suck it up and be a man!!!!!!
Good job Norton!
MIXXO this Team Comes to play against the Good teams!
Also we caught the Jays at the perfect time
BTW I can’t stand that Techno music they’re playing at the TED
May 24th, 20094:25 pm
nolie, you got me with that post then. My bad.
when braves were 4 and 1 – to start the season- they won 2 out of 3 against philly and they swept florida.
you just feel bad that JJ surrendered only 2 runs in 6 innings, but will not get the win again.
May 24th, 20094:26 pm
Kelly’s fifth hit today (well, sort of).
Macon Braves (RIP)
May 24th, 2009
I’m guessing nolie is a glass half empty kinda guy. Dang, Braves fans can’t even enjoy a seven run inning without somebody trying to crap on the parade? (Macon Brave)
has nobody on here heard of sarcasm? I’ve spent months bitching about all the negative posts during the games. Give me a break here. You guessed wrong. Who in their right could seriously post something like that during a blowout sweep?
JJ always talks about team winning, and I believe him. Class act.
Just got to my SF hotel. Braves rompin’ to a sweep, huh? Guess ol’ Herschel was right. (OK, I’ll stop.)…
Was told by our man covering game that Medlen will start Tuesday. They decided to go with the blog poll instead of flipping a coin.
May 24th, 20094:27 pm
Forgot about 1st week of season …
how about when was the last time braves were 3 games over 500 this far into a season?
nolie baby i got it from the start and enjoyed the post
May 24th, 20094:28 pm
BMac got his average back up to .300+ in no time.
May 24th, 20094:29 pm
Sarcasm, the brain’s natural defense against the stupid.
Lucky you DOB.
I love San Fran. My family (grandparents, aunt, uncle and cousin) live in Oakland.
It’s incredible out there. Probably cold or cool. I wouldn’t be surprised.
Hey where do the Braves stay out there?
TNJeff, 4:21 pm…”When was the last time the Braves were 3 games over 500?”
Braves started this season 5-1. They proceeded to lose three to the Marlins and drop out of first place (5-4). They haven’t been so many games above .500 or in first place since.
May 24th, 20094:30 pm
I Give a Big Shoutout to O’Flaherty and J. Bennett (For Once) for Pitching Tough! That Inning changed the momentum and the outcome of the game, even though it will be overlooked in the boxscore
How Sweep It Is!!
Time For That West Coast Swing! Go Braves!
DOB thanks thats good news about Medlen and there goes diory.lol
I can’t wait for the Giants series. Good pitching match ups.
After playing good D last night and most of today.. Diory shows us why he’s sportin’ 9 errors in AAA this year.
May 24th, 20094:31 pm
David O’Brien: “Was told by our man covering game ….”
You mean TnBrian(taking DOB’s spot today)? He’s been covering it for you. Not too bad actually.
Ibanez is a monster this year for the Phils-unreal.
May 24th, 20094:32 pm
Come on Acosta.
It’s likely my fault guys. I thought I jacked it so much that it would be obvious, but remembering some of the incredibly stupid things said here in any situation, I guess I really didn’t hype it enough. Sorry.
Tomahawkin, the techno definitely sucks.
I wish to never hear that again.
I was glad to see Acosta come in. I missed him… not really. I’m just glad Bobby didn’t bring in Gonzo.
I had a feeling Manny was going to suck though. Is 8 runs going to be enough?
May 24th, 20094:33 pm
Nice Double Play Prado!
“That was a very difficult play.”
groundfog Did he do something today?
You are my boy ODARP!
May 24th, 20094:34 pm
Who in their right could seriously post something like that during a blowout sweep?
This is the DOB blog right? You have to admit that it isn’t beyond the realm of possibility for someone to post something like that on this blog.
But as I said in my second post to you, pulled my foot outta my mouth and I apologize after spitting the dirty sock taste out.
Prado just saved Blow-costa’s bacon with a nice double play. Picked the ball near third base, tagged the bag, and threw across to first to nip the runner.
Acosta was staring an infinite ERA in the face (runs and no outs).
nolie – you need to learn the WordPress code for sarcasm.
Frank from KS
May 24th, 20094:35 pm
Red Sox 8-5 over the Mets, btm 7.
chiper would have been on the ground with the play thet martin did. and 2 or 3 games out with sore knee, leg, hip or something.
nolie… I loved it! You forgot about those nasty red Sunday jersies that we never win with.
Ball Game, “HOW SWEEP IT IS!!!”
May 24th, 20094:36 pm
Manny, gettin’ it done there.
He owes Martin a candy bar though.
Good win and very good home stand
May 24th, 20094:37 pm
Lidge blew another one.
So the Yanks and Phils are 3-3 in the bottom of the tenth. Here’s hoping that RomanGal’s 30 inning bullpen devastator is in progress.
Lets keep it going in ‘Frisco.
Has there been any talk about Soriano taking over as the closer?
what are we 12-17 something like that
Jeter base hit is on first nobody out Damon at the plate.
May 24th, 20094:38 pm
Jerry just 2/5 rbi, hitting .348 I thought he was going to score last inning to put the Phils ahead but he didn’t get the chance.
thats won 12 of 17 i think
May 24th, 20094:39 pm
Sweep. Kelly’s getting hot, and you know what that means, some serious pop.
Love that Arby’s commercial (especially after a Braves SWEEP!!), that woman has legs up to her…………………well, her butt!! But dang they are looooonnnnngggggg!!
Damon base hit, runners on first and second nobody out, Tex at the plate.
May 24th, 20094:42 pm
Youklis just hit a three run bomb to put Boston in front of the Mutts 12-5 in the 7th.
Looks like the Braves are going to head west tied with the Mutts.
12 to 5 sox
May 24th, 20094:43 pm
Our boy Tex just hit into t a double play on a 3-2 pitch. 2 outs, winning run on third. A-Roid at the plate.
I want to hear those lowly Red Sox fans do the Chop when they see the scoreboard.
Give it up Sox fans. How sweet would it be to hear them to do the Tomahawk Chop all up in the Mets ears?
May 24th, 20094:44 pm
Man The Braves are 13-7 against teams that are over .500 this year…
While They are 11-12 against teams that have played less than .500 baseball this year, letting their guard down against the Jubroni teams
Proof that this team comes correct when the play the good teams of the league
Tex GIDP with no out in the 10th. I hate that guy…
May 24th, 20094:45 pm
IBB to Roidriquez.
May 24th, 20094:46 pm
Tex grounds into a double play. Just like the Texeira of old. Intentional BB to A-rod, and now runners at the corners two out for Ramiro Peña who flies out to end the inning.
Typical Tex there, guy seldom gets the big hit in the big situation. Very good player, puts up numbers, but will never be GREAT until he starts coming through in big situations more often.
Philthies get out of the inning to go to the 12th. 18 innings to go.
After chewing on his performance last night, today Diory came to the plate and got his first hit in the majors. For the first time he was not smacking that chewing gum while batting. Instead, he had a big wad of tobacco tucked right there in his cheek. Must’ve read the blog and converted. This CGWB story is about to explode bigger than the steroids and corked bats. MLB will never be the same. Sell your stock in Wrigley’s and Tops, this chewing gum bubble is about to pop. It won’t be pretty.
I just Hope Double J isn’t Hurt more than a little Stinger…That could be Big…!
With better luck he’d have 8 wins by now…
May 24th, 20094:48 pm
Tex chews gum while batting.
Coach (2010 or Bust)
What a strange, exhilarating game. Chipper, Escobar and Infante are out of the lineup. We go up against the A.L.East division leading Blue Jays and sweep them right out the door.
I’ll take it. Now the Braves get to fly cross country and face the Giants. Who by the way are having their own problems scoring runs.
May 24th, 20094:50 pm
What’s up with DOB’s “no home runs at Turner Field” analysis.
The Braves just hit 4 or 5 and just about double the previous number of HRs.
Can DOB really change the fabric of the universe like that?
Had fun watching the Jays series, hope Toronto can retake and run away with the division now (because underdog stories are good for baseball)!!!
Steve from OH
May 24th, 20094:51 pm
And fangraphs thinks Tex is mildly clutch too…
May 24th, 20094:52 pm
Anybody see BMac’s interview? Very good–He said the star of the game was Kelly Johnson. Oh, the humility! I love it!
abwright: “Looks like the Braves are going to head west tied with the Mutts.”
No, 0.5 game behind.
sorry, you’re right.
May 24th, 20094:53 pm
“Can DOB really change the fabric of the universe like that?”
He needs to take this analysis on the road. So here’s a start for him “Lincecum nearly unhittable at home”
I knew we had this series in the bag.
Nice three game sweep boys.
Let’s go get them Giants.
I’ll say the star(s) of the game are OFlay and Bennet, like it or not.
May 24th, 20094:54 pm
And as much as I hate to say it–Come on, Ya…come on, Yan…hmm…
OK, that’s way easier…
May 24th, 20094:55 pm
Hmm…yeah, I guess they didn’t do too badly themselves…
May 24th, 20094:56 pm
C0-Sign, O’Flay and Bennett were the stars of the Game…! They Bailed Moylan out big time!
May 24th, 20094:57 pm
The Blue Jays came in and struggled just like they did in Boston. They couldn’t drive in runs when they had a chance. We’ll take it. I hope they finish third (ahead of the Yanks). Other than that, they can pi$$ off and die. They sucked it hard this weekend.
I Need Philliy to lose, Then The Philly.com/phillies/Forum will be off the Chain with the Blame Lidge/Blame Cholly Posts…Which will be LMAO material…
May 24th, 20094:58 pm
abwright: like the relativistic force of gravity, DOB’s presence warps the time-space continuum …
phillies take lead
May 24th, 20094:59 pm
Even though they have a good record right now I think it likely that the Jays will end up 4th in their division.
Lots of Braves hitters have been slumping on and off seems like a few are waking up. All it takes is a few at any given time.
Diory can hit ok, but has never been consistent on defense for some reason.
Schafer is looking some better even though his BA isn’t going up yet.
Francy is coming around again. Maybe he can stay decent enough to be a help.
Pitching Rules just like always. Most fans always want the offense, but P&D is where it’s at.
The above is not some of my smartazz crap.
Phils took the lead. Good to see. I hate the Yanks. May they burn in Hell next to me and anybody else who thinks the way I do…but just so long as they’re there, you know?
Damn Yankees, they’re useless.
May 24th, 20095:00 pm
nice to see JJ get his fast ball up too 95 when he wanted too – this kid is going to develope into a very good pitcher
Ok, we need the Yanks to tie the game yet again to do what Roman Gal sets out to do.
Do the Phillies have a second blown save in them today?
May 24th, 20095:01 pm
Milton Bradleys stats
.183 Average 4 homers, 9 Ribeyes
I’m glad we didn’t go after him, He had a contract year last year, and plus he’s a bigger injury risk than Chipper is
May 24th, 20095:02 pm
Yep, Lidge blew another one today.
That Inning changed the momentum and the outcome of the game, even though it will be overlooked in the boxscore (Tomahawkin)
hard to argue with…even for me. good point
May 24th, 20095:04 pm
nolie… I loved it! You forgot about those nasty red Sunday jersies that we never win with (MEB)
thanks, but I am embarrassed to admit that like McFann I like the red unis
May 24th, 20095:06 pm
Just a few numbers for everyone to ponder:
Braves are 12-8 against plus .500 teams and 11-12 against sub-.500 teams. By contrast, the Phils are 10-13 against plus-.500 teams and 13-5 against sub-.500 teams. The Mets are 12-12 against plus-.500 teams and 11-7 against sub-.500 teams.
Bottom line, we fare better against quality teams than the Phils and Mets do, but they obviously beat up on the bad teams better than we do. So we gotta start pounding the lousy teams and we’ll be golden….
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
