Heath…that’s not the point, saying we don’t need offense. He’s saying Cain will improve our run prevention outfit and this should lead to more wins. Not too hard, is it? I kinda think we could use a bat, but you’ve gotta respect the numbers…they don’t lie.

Here’s a note on possible first-round pick Zack Wheeler:

“The lone prep note of the day comes from the words of a scout who witnessed Zack Wheeler’s most recent start on Tuesday.

After Wheeler’s dominating start Tuesday where he fanned 15 in a 2-1 playoff win, one scout wrote in his report that Wheeler is as close to a sure thing as any prep starting pitcher he has seen in his eight years on the trail, with only one exception.

“I saw (Clayton) Kershaw, (Jarrod) Parker, Kyle Drabek, Jeff Allison, John Danks… I even followed (Phillippe) Aumont a few years back,” he said. “But Rick Porcello is the only arm I can think of that I was more confident in than Wheeler. He’s going to be a good major league starting pitcher.”

Steve for OH….if you say we need a better BP…then, I’ll go with you on that one. Looking at the splits, our starters fair VERY well. We have the 3rd best starters ERA in the league and only the 11th best relievers. Even still, I would prefer a batter over a pitcher for this team as of now.

May 24th, 2009

No matter what just happened it’s a known fact that Johnson is worthless hitting in the lead-off spot and that Chipper is a lazy hypocondriac who lays out as much as he can and doesn’t play all out when he is in there and is crap in the clutch. We all know that those are the facts. So what that they got lucky today? Booby should still be run outta town. I’m just so glad that we aren’t playing the mighty Rays who coach has assured the board are gonna win it all cause of their stolen base prowess. Stinky old Jays never can play good. We got lucky.

OK Braveheart you win… ATL is an offensive juggernaut and the only way to improve the team is trade some of our outstanding hitting for better pitching. What was I and the rest of the world thinking? We’re certifiable dummies. (HEATH)

This is not about winning an argument. Rather it is about winning games. Never claimed that they were an offensive juggernaut. Just saying there are many ways to win baseball games, and it would be better to consider every option in the entire market in trying to improve the team, rather than limiting yourself to one side of the market, which is what you are blindly advocating.
