DOB – No shot that Gorkys would get the call to fill in CF if Schafer gets hurt? He’s hitting much better than Blanco and Barton (albeit at AA, not AAA), and is supposedly a plus outfielder.
I wouldn’t mind bringing some speed up to the big club and letting Norton go work out his kinks in the minors, if he’d accept the assignment. Right now he’s not even our number one pinch hitter, even after Infante’s injury.

Unless the Braves can find a legit backup CF (I don’t include Prado, Frenchy, or Diaz as options, no matter what Bobby says), you have to wonder if Norton won’t be shopped around, even if it’s just to get some value for him. The bench now consists of a backup catcher, half of a LF platoon, a utility IF (Hernandez), a utility IF/OF who can’t play SS or CF, and a PH who can’t play defense anywhere for more than a few innings.
And the backup CF is in AAA. You really have to wonder if a player with Norton’s skill set just doesn’t fit on this roster.

it HAS been worse. see last season. i know i speak for a lot of fans when i say it’s really frustrating when your team is devastated by injuries year after year. the georgia bulldogs down the road are the same way. is it just a coincidence, or do you think there’s something to this environment that’s harder on the athletes bodies?

Was at the Montgomery Biscuits Miss Braves game last weekend. Got to see Gorkys play. He is a little on the skinny side althought I think he will fill out some. One thing is for sure though is he can motor. Scored from first on a double EASILY. Almost like he was gliding home. Think he went 3 for 4
Campillo pitched the first two innings and looked sharp. If KK doesnt pick it up id move Jorge into his spot in the rotation. He was or second best pitcher last year besides JJ

That was total BS what happened to Infante last night, accident or not. 4 hit batters? Medlen needs to make his ML debut by hitting the first batter.
DOB: with Infante out for awhile, and KJ struggling, is there a chance that Cox will stick with that great lineup from Tuesday? I see now rush of putting KJ back in leadoff spot after a great night he had then.

We all know deep down Braves aren’t gonna go get this highly coveted power hitting RH hitting OF. We know they need it, they know the team needs it, but thanks to the Yankees, baseball economics suck right now, and Braves are sort of handcuffed.

It will be beyond inexcusable if Bobby puts KJ back in the leadoff role. How many different times, and in how many different ways does Kelly Johnson have to demonstrate that he’s not a good leadoff man, but is a terrific 6th place hitter????
Escobar can handle the leadoff role, which also minimizes his achilles’ heel… hitting into double plays. I know Kotchman is very slow for a #2 hitter, it worked out ok the other night. Why not stick with it for a while and see what happens?

Exactly. The ONE time you mix it up and put KJ in the 6 hole with Esco and Kotchman in leadoff and 2 hole, it actually works. So what do you do then? Gee, lets go back to the way it WASN’T working. Yeah….that makes sense. If the HOFer actually does this like DOB insinuates, then he’s gotten alot older and more senile than I would have guessed.

I apologize for not focusing on this part of the game last night. But, why was Jeff Bennett batting? I thought this might be interpreted by Colorado as “showing them up,” – pinch-hitting with a pitcher. Thus, the next batter, Infante, is plunked. I’m never one to think much about other pitchers purposely hitting batters, but that’s very fishy to me – and I never heard a word about anything. Does anybody else have thoughts about that?

Answer me this. In order to get Alberto Callaspo from the Roylas, we would have to give Francoeur and what? For those of you who don’t have a bio on Callaspo, he makes contact with 95% of the pitches he swings at. And this isn’t an exaggeration, guess, hyperbole, etc… It’s a statistic.

Milton how do I know it was an accident? Did you actually watch the game or just see the box score? For one, our pathetic lineup scored 12 runs, which means their pitchers werent hitting their spots. Second, if you are trying to hit someone you dont throw for their hand. You aim for a bigger target like their back. Third if you watched the game you could see it was an accident.

Yeah, he’s their utility infielder (currently starting at 2B because Availes (sp?) is out, but he’s played so well there I doubt he’ll relinquish the spot when he comes back). He can play a good SS or 2B.

I am not saying the Braves hit anyone tonight – if that was to be done, it was last night, immediately after Infante is hit. I still think that kind of retaliation is silly and unneccessary. I’m talking about why no one said anything last night that Infante was hit right after a pitcher as a PH? Am I the only one who thought that was fishy and possibly Colorado thinking that they were being “disrespected.?”

Wonder if Frenchy’s wife is getting closer or further away as his star fades? I think it makes a difference, but I’m old and am finding more truth in old sayings these days. Remember the saying “behind every great man is a supportive woman”, or something like that. It’s got to be extra tough on players that marry young and get the Ricky Bobby experience on top of having their public life unravel. I don’t know the truth in it, but heard Mark Wohlers got that treament. Enough on Frenchy, I guess that’s more of a point on life!

Eric: the reason why i was thinking it was not an accident was because the Braves at that point were already up a ton by that point, then to add insult to injury, we added a few more runs. yes, i know those were some fielding errors by the rockies and pitcher tried to come in a little to inside. again, just a thought. I can 1 or 2 people getting hit, but 4??
