It will be interesting to see how the attendance is this weekend when Toronto comes to town. Interleague play has always been popular with the fans.
May 19th, 20097:30 pm
The Run Support totals for Double J have been unreal…he could be among tops in the league in wins if the damn Awfense gave him some support…
May 19th, 20097:31 pm
Is it just me or does Garret Anderson seem disinterested
No, it’s not just you. All the sheetwearers think the same way and keep telling us all the time. But then the whole “lazy”, “disinterested” black guy thing has been popular in these parts for centuries. Perhaps if the Braves took some pages from the plantation owners handbook then Anderson would get the message!
Rock On....(the denizen formerly known as Dadgum)
Put Shafer at lead-off Bobby.
Rockmart? Ever go to Coot’s Lake?
did cox remember to bring breath mints tonite?
May 19th, 20097:32 pm
and we have such a huge Canadian contingent here in Atlanta . . .
May 19th, 20097:33 pm
JJ ERA officially under 2.00 . If he pitched in NY or Chicago he would get alot of attention from ESPN.
Blogger it’s not you. We’ve commented for awhile that he should have his locker checked for a bong and maybe the rest of the Braves were getting a contact high. I call him Pineapple Express
May 19th, 20097:34 pm
Woah, put that race card back in your wallet there, Jesse. Garret Anderson sucks, period, end of story. His skin color doesn’t make him good.
No More Bobby
May 19th, 20097:35 pm
It would be great if one day on here our emails showed up and we could see who the losers are that respond to their own post under fake unfunny names.
if jj pitched in new york his era would be around 8 ’cause the press would drive him to distraction
here, only carroll pesters him
whats all the coaches up to?!?
i think we might break the attendance low set last night. really, really slim pickings, folks
May 19th, 20097:36 pm
it’s the wind
Carroll Rogers- its not just the braves having bad attendance. Alot of teams have low attendance
May 19th, 20097:37 pm
Wow Kelly got a hit
Ok Frenchy don’t let me down
what? folks ain’t lining up to see muderers row: Kelly, Frenchy, K-fer back to back?
And Johnson hits lower in the order! Let’s hope this doesn’t change the plan and drag him back to the top.
May 19th, 20097:38 pm
They should drop the price of beer to under $5 that will get sa few k in lol
Were those posts referring to a donkey, by chance?
May 19th, 20097:39 pm
frenchy is the stupidest, laziest brave
Anyone want to bet if this lineup works tonight that Bobby will revert back to KJ at leadoff and Infante on the bench.
Way to knock the cover off the ball frenchy, it’s like he tells them where he is going to hit the ball.
Francoeur TRIED to hit into a double-play….
We Got ANOTHER Break TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!!!!Come On!!!
Perfect placement by Frenchy!
That was too hot to handle….give Frenchy a basehit….tia…
got a break. frenchy sucks. Now 2 strike outs.
May 19th, 20097:40 pm
My guess on attendance is 12,500. (The camera angle pointing at first base and the left field line looks like a barren wasteland!)
Holy Cow !! A hit for Franqueer
how about beer and shooters night for a promo?
productive at bat? lmao chip geez
great slide idiot.
May 19th, 20097:41 pm
Seems to me, that Glavine, Maddux and Smoltz got PLENTY of attention in the 90’s. My suggestion is that if he were on a winning team, regardless of where that is, he’d get more attention.
Greinke’s got a bigger bitch that JJJ does at this point.
Winning. It will cure it all. The ignoring from ESPN (why anybody cares what highlights they show is beyond me), fans will buy tickets, and th bitching on the blog will subside (except for me – I’m an equal opportunity bitcher).
CC Sabathia seemed to get plenty of attention from ESPN while in Cleveland and the mecca otherwise known as Milwaukee.
You guys pizzing and moaning about ESPN must be too young to remember when the ONLY team that ESPN covered and talked about was the Braves. Almost 10 years of it.
Win. It’s that simple. Playing .500 ball doesn’t even get the people that live in Atlanta to pay attention. Why on Earth would ESPN waste valuble minutes covering a .500 team who’s hometown fans don’t even care about?
If anything, blame TBS for dumping the Braves. When they were on nightly, ESPN new there was a contingency of fans around the country that paid attention to them. Now? We might as well be the D-Rays in the late 90’s. That’s how significant the Braves are to anybody who isn’t a Braves fan.
Deal with it until they start winning. Welcome to the 80’s.
Some here have inquired about Hudson but I firmly believe the Braves will only use Hudson after Sept. call ups. No need rushing it and it will only be an audition start or two. Hudson can say he is ready but no way the Braves bring him up early and stick him in the pen. If they are thinking about picking up his option (and again that is a very big IF)they are surely not going to rush him up just because he says he is ready coming off Tommy John. Ain’t happening folks regardless of the number of interviews saying otherwise.
“Productive”??….Dude is grabbin’ at straws….
Sorry Shane. First my posts don’t show up. Now they’re all bold. I didn’t mean to “yell”.
Damn, Turner Field looks empty.
We’ll probably be able to hear Ole Donk floating air biscuits tonight!
May 19th, 20097:42 pm
braves make very bad pitchers look like santana.
alot of cry babies in here.. all yall do is complain about the braves, dont even know why most of yall are fans of the braves!
I think Chip’s comment was a little stupid. He said, “that was a productive at bat for the Braves, because now, you clear Jurrjens.”
Okay; but, by that rationale, the only unproductive at bat in that situation would’ve been a double-play.
It seems, and I know these are the home announcers, that these guys are a little too eager to complement the Braves, namely those that are struggling (like Francoeur, and currently, Schafer).
Personally, I think I might feel a bit patronized if I was one of these guys and overheard the calls that were being made during my at-bats.
We might have a real superstar on our hands with JJ.
Glavine- 2nd full season… 14-8 3.68 40 bb 90 ks 186 ip
Maddux- 2nd full season… 18-8 3.18 81 bb 140 ks 249 ip
jj- 2nd full season… 13-10 3.68 70 bb 139 ks 188 ip
my posts are in 3D
but you have to wear special glasses to see it
May 19th, 20097:44 pm
watch out – speedy johnson is a threat to stael home!
low attendance? It’s the economy, schools not out yet, it’s a weeknight, the wind is blowing, the Rockies suck. Take your pick of lame excuses. This team is not fun to watch, people stay home.
Nice hustle by Jair.
YAY! More than 1 Run! ~_~
Double J with the Hustle…!!! Love it…
what’s with the “duplicate comment” censor on the blog. I haven’t said what they think and it won’t let me post. Damn…1st amendment 1st amendment 1st amendment. I got rights!
Necromancer, no. No farm animal references at all. Just talking about how the numbers were bantered about all winter showing that Escobar is/was the better lead off choice between him and KJ.
And that somebody should email Bobby some links to some of the stat websites. Tried it three times. Didn’t show up either time.
But the post stating that nothing was showing up….. showed up.
that’s a team leader, not cheaper jones. way to go JJ
May 19th, 20097:45 pm
but let me guess some people in here are not happy how that played out.
Excellent hustle JJ
Chip’s comments should’ve included that Schafer successfully got the runner to third. That is what got us a run there, not simply that Schafer didn’t hit into a double play.
If Schafer had struck out, rather than grounded into an FC, the Braves would still only be up 1-0.
Chip, Kill Your Suggestions for Nicknames
Yay, JJ!! First career RBI!!
He’s gotta help himself with the run support.
If JJ is the Curacao Comet then Andruw is the Curacao Blimp.
May 19th, 20097:46 pm
Umm ESPN used to cover all the teams until disney took them over. They arent into sport journalism anymore they are just carnival barkers promoting the events they will later show on TV
Shold've, Could've, Would've Gotten Adam Dunn if...
Alex Rodriguez has hit his 5th homerun in 33 at-bats this season, while nobody on the Braves has that many for the whole 2009 season thus far. Just sad.
no kidding, AJC sucks, really? I’m not at other ballparks, just commenting on this one. and if you read the blog above, you’d know i am being more than fair to the braves about the attendance. ..
want more low attendance excuses?
game is on TV
murderers’ row pounds the rockies senseless
(game headline for tomorrow – feel free to use, carroll)
May 19th, 20097:47 pm
Gotta Bust this one open Now…Come On Kotch!!!
hits, hits, everywhere…..and now casey can try to improve on last night’s bases loaded results
Let’s go Klutchman. Pick ‘em up!
Well I’ll be….
Rockies defense is suffering from the dropsys tonight…
bobby Hall of fame mgr.
rox playing like the braves
mets fan in atlanta
Why is everyone hating on the 24 season finale last night? I thought it was excellent…Kim not being the damsel in distress…..Her “dammit” had me rolling when her phone went out…all in all i thought it was a great finale. BTW, the last hour is never action packed, that’s the “cooling down” time.
Anyway, hey I’m here early tonight….wow i’m shocked there hasn’t been more fun made of the Mets game last night. Some of you maybe saw my post last night at 2 AM (check it out if you didn’t) where i was literally puking my brains out after staying up 3 hours past my bedtime to watch the Mets do that crap. But like i said last night, and others have echoed today, the Mets have everyone playing out of position–i’m just shocked it took that long to look that ugly.
I will also tell you i’m a little upset that Cox has this lineup going tonight…it actually looks pretty good.
Wow they’re playing like the braves. If we can’t beat them when they’re doing everything they can to give it away then we just need to call it a season.
May 19th, 20097:48 pm
well i was just letting u know Carroll its not just the braves having attendance problems… other teams are too. dont get ur panties in a wod
Bases are loaded and Casey’s at bat.
we always hit 10 or 12 hits, but no clutch hits.
Another excuse for low attendance: Bobby’s chronic gas!
Good post above. It’s interesting to note how now, when you watch a sporting event on ESPN, it’s as if the game is simply a vehicle for ESPN to promote something else.
It gets pretty old.
Go back and watch an old game (from the 1980’s) called by Dick Vitale. Once upon a time, Dick actually knew how to simply call a basketball game. Now, we’ve got to hear him on one of his soap boxes every 2-3 possessions.
“Alex Rodriguez has hit his 5th homerun in 33 at-bats this season, while nobody on the Braves has that many for the whole 2009 season thus far. Just sad.”
but no brave is dating madonna
Mac – how about you? want to be a boy toy?
For Real….? Seriously Why does Anyone Still watch BSPN unless the braves are on there…?
All I watch is the MLB network out of protest of BSPN. The MLB Network Beats BSPN 2 to 1…
That was The Eagles, right?
May 19th, 20097:49 pm
Bill Nye calling as I see it Rush. It’s no coincidence that people ascribe tags such as “lazy” to Anderson, or “stupid” to Escobar and not with the rest of the Braves. Yeah they get on other people’s cases too, but some of the themes in their comments about Anderson and Escobar have ugly echoes too them. When others players mess up, they mess up, or “bad play”; they’re never “lazy”, “disinterested”, or “stupid”. You know, just like you invoking “Jesse” while supposedly decrying the “race card”. Phewy. Now back to the game.
Atta Boy Kotch…Keep The singles coming…!
double play!!! oh no there are 2 outs already.
May 19th, 20097:50 pm
Gramps need to hit up granny here.
walk em in
at least for tonight the new lineup is working …
May 19th, 20097:51 pm
The Chippermeister – I hate it when he walks (or maybe not).
braves are making hammel look like cy young?
Redemption Mac. Get that double this time!
Shane, yeah? MTV used to show music videos too. Advertising sells. ESPN is a business. If their advertisers want them to talk about the Yankees and Red Sox (along with the Angels since they own them too), so be it.
What stinks, is that at least 10 years ago, there were other options on tv that had nightly sports highlights. CNN used to. Fox used to. Now it’s just ESPN (the ocho). Or how many frickin channels they got.
I don’t even bother watching anymore. I logon to one of the big three websites (foxsports, ESPN, si.com) and look for highlights. Quicker and to the point. Then I don’t have to see all the Yankee crap.
But be honest. When the Yankees are losing, those highlights are FUN.
May 19th, 20097:52 pm
Don’t worry, we love you and you do a superb job!
the wind knocked it right into his glove
May 19th, 20097:53 pm
Why isn’t GA batting cleanup (joking, before you rip me apart).
Do they still have Skip & Pete’s BBQ at Turner Field?
hopefuly bobby won’t make him pitch complete game and lose the game!!
Not exactly a good way to brag, but I’ll take those runs for sure
carroll we love you more than you can ever possibly imagine
so don’t try
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
