I wonder what the HHHHHHHell was JF thinking when he turned down the offer braves gave him? Boy he might be feeling a little dumb right now...........he will be lucky to get half what he was offered if he continues his current performance.

DAP_Sorry Dude, but I’m betting that Medlen remains a Brave. I’m also betting that Vazquez may be the trade bait and we may not even take on Hudson’s option. The money ($12-24 mil) would be better spent getting some offense in our outfield. (LEW)

I think I'm gonna go Hudson,JJ,Lowe,KK,or Medlen,Hanson. Either KK or JV will likely go, and JV will likely bring back more. I do think they will pick Hudson up if all seems healthy. We'll see.

Braves new a power bat in LF that could also possibly play first. End of story.

This team cannot win with GA and Kotchman being counted on to win games for this team...just isn't going to happen enough.

For those living in the Atlanta area, what are the chance that we get tonight’s game in?

Its beautiful weather out today, mid 60's temps right now, lows in the upper 40's tonight. I'd say there is a 100% chance of getting the game in tonight. :)

richbrave re: your 12:21 pm post

Dadgum may like this......somewhat. While I see Glavine pitching this year AND CONTRIBUTIING somehow, I think he'll hang'em up after this season, with all the time he's spent rehabbing, etc which IMO, would be fine by me. I mean, my boy George Brett retired after 20 seasons. So it's coming.

I think more and more.....Tom is pitching this year as he didn't want his career to end with the way his season ended last year....and I know if I were him, I wouldn't want my career to end that way either. I'd much rather go out on a high note then a low one.

Here's something to "ponder" everybody. Call me crazy, I know many of you will.

But isn't JJJ a Boras client? That, right there might be enough reason for Wren to dangle him as trade bait if Hanson and Medlen prove to be for real this season.

Lowe isn't going anywhere. Too much money. Too many years left on the deal at his age. My money is on the Braves keeping Hudson over Vazquez (if they have to make a choice).

That being said, Bobby has always had a man-crush on Vazquez and Hudson is coming off of major surgerey. At the end of the day, all things considered equal, I'd take Hudson over Vazquez. But Vazquez might be a "safer" bet at this point due to health.

THAT being said. I doubt Glavine is back. So why couldn't the Braves keep Lowe, Hudson AND Vazquez, filling out the rotation with Hanson and Medlen (provided they don't bomb)?

Which, leaves JJJ out there to be had. Of everybody on our roster, he would certainly bring the most in return.

While it may be silly to trade who I think is the true Ace of this staff. It may be more silly to think that we have ANY shot of retaining his services if he keeps pitching like he has. Think Johan Santanna money. No chance in hell Wren gives that out. Nor should he.

Besides, after 2010, the contracts for BOTH Hudson and Vazquez would be off the books, so it's not like the 35 million tied up between them and Lowe next year would continue to do so for years to come.

With guys like Heyward and Gorkys on the way, we'd have PLENTY of payroll flexibility, even with Chipper's and Lowe's contract.

Not saying it IS going to happen (trading JJJ), or that it SHOULD. Just saying it could happen.

In a perfect world, JJJ and Hanson anchor this rotation for the next decade, with Medlen in there as well.

But in the end, Scott Boras is Scott Boras and we are not your father's (Ted Turner owned) Braves anymore.

Lew....agreed 100%.

Richbrave, well Glavine may indeed be in the mix this year IF he has a good start or two at Gwinnett AND is effective in Atlanta. However, under no circumstances do I see him not retiring after this year. None. In fact his contract is only one year and I am certain I read where he only was going to give it this one year. Not dead certain about that but I can't see the Braves extending another contract to him in 2010 with our current surplus of starters. Oh yeah, if you haven't tried the Q Barbecue restaurant next to the Sam's on Midlothian. Get there soon....fabulous. Just won best in Virginia---that's saying something.

monty:

I would point out that until we DO have a CARLOS BELTRAN type to lead in the outfield, they're all gonna' be followers. I thought that was to be GARRETT ANDERSON's role on this team.
