Take away the first 4 pitches and Vazquez has been tough! Quality start seems to be mentioned every time out with him.

this has been a very good baseball game. Especially from the Braves’ perspective.
Have seen a lot of good things tonight, from a lot of people.
2 more innings. + the Mets are facing Lincecum.

Vazquez just showed why he gets the big bucks. He had nothing to start the game. Gave up two runs on four pitches. Then, he cowboys up and shuts down a bad Arizona team for seven innings. Good job, Javy.

Maybe it is good that John Smoltz is gone. Now Chipper Jones is the clear-cut chief of this tribe. Smoltz was a good leader but maybe he was too much of a “good cop”. It is time for some tough love.

Frankie Knuckles…not sure if this is what you are looking for…but Adrian Gonzalez of the Padres struggled quite a but his first two years (not full years) in the bigs and has become a superb first baseman…very good defensively and hitter.

They decided to move Hanson back to tomorrow night to take Medlen’s spot in the rotation. I’m not sure why. They were going to have to piece together one game from the bullpen due to Medlen getting called up. Maybe they thought it was better to use the bullpen in the doubleheader since the game only has 7 innings. (Though Hanson rarely goes more than 7 so this doesn’t seem like an incredibly strong argument.)
