Vazquez just showed why he gets the big bucks. He had nothing to start the game. Gave up two runs on four pitches. Then, he cowboys up and shuts down a bad Arizona team for seven innings. Good job, Javy.
Maybe it is good that John Smoltz is gone. Now Chipper Jones is the clear-cut chief of this tribe. Smoltz was a good leader but maybe he was too much of a “good cop”. It is time for some tough love.
That’s 10 strikeouts for Vazquez which gives him 67 on the season. That leads all NL pitchers, pending Tim Lincecum’s start tonight for the Giants. He’s got 57 Ks.
I was just thinking how weird it was for old man Loaf Anderson to have Swagga Like Us as his walk up music. Then I realized that after my birthday next week, I’ll only be 1 year younger than him.(If I knew how to do those emoticons, I’d insert a sad face here.
Awww that sounds like something you’d read on a Braves version of FML.
Carroll Rogers, 9:48 pm “That’s 10 strikeouts for Vazquez which gives him 67 on the season. That leads all NL pitchers, pending Tim Lincecum’s start tonight for the Giants. He’s got 57 Ks.”
I hope Lincecum passes Vazquez with about 20 strike outs tonight.
Colorado comes back in the next inning (top of the 9th) and scores 3 runs to beat the Pirates 3-1. Glad for them that they were not victimized by that bad appeal call.
Would like to see another run or 2 tacked on to make it a bit more comfortable. Only 4 hits on the night is not that great against the Dbacks. Even though its hard to complain because we are winning. But only by 1.
I’m going to completely ruin the joke but for the life of me, I couldn’t figure out what FML means. I guess I’m having a lot of senior moments tonight.
Frankie Knuckles…not sure if this is what you are looking for…but Adrian Gonzalez of the Padres struggled quite a but his first two years (not full years) in the bigs and has become a superb first baseman…very good defensively and hitter.

Jo Jo and Parr were warming up just in case Moylan had a melt down (not unheard of this year). Bobby has to give Gonzo and Soriano a bit of a break. Gonzo will probably be in for the 9th.

brvs1fan,
Did Murph struggle? I was so young. All I knew, as a young buck, is that Dale could drink from the same glass as God. How bad did he struggle?
They decided to move Hanson back to tomorrow night to take Medlen’s spot in the rotation. I’m not sure why. They were going to have to piece together one game from the bullpen due to Medlen getting called up. Maybe they thought it was better to use the bullpen in the doubleheader since the game only has 7 innings. (Though Hanson rarely goes more than 7 so this doesn’t seem like an incredibly strong argument.)
I saw Taken this past weekend and loved it. It’s your classic shoot first & ask questions later movie. In other words, it’s not one of those that you watch for “quality acting”.
The offense has to get that one back. They should have done better offensively. Just 5 hits against this team is not that good. Only 1 hit from the 4th on.
