I was at the Giants-Mets game last night. Mets were stealing at will off Molina. He had gotten hit by a foul tip in the knee earlier, and couldn’t throw out anybody. So, while I give the Mets some credit for the steals, they were predominantly stealing off a wounded catcher.
Chip Caray is the most loud, obnoxious, annoying, unbearable, intolerable, stentorian and all-around bad baseball announcer I have ever heard in my life.

How is strapping a boom mike to the dugout camera to pick up the mindless babbling of Bobby Cox “great audio work.”?
If you and your George Constanza look-a-like of a producer knew how irritating that background chatter was to anyone above the age of 13, you’d finally give it a rest. Maybe next year, when even you tire of the non-stop “C’mon kid….take ball four…back” and other absolutely essential pearls of wisdom from the Braves skipper.
I thought, on that slow curve, that there was no way that McCann was going to get Parra. On the triple, Parra looked pretty fast. Chip and Joe talked about the change in McCann’s footwork and how that helped him.
McCann is one of the most dangerous hitters I have seen, at such a young age, doesn’t give up at bats (except that pinch hit appearance in NY), and makes good contact all the time. He calls a good game.
His only real deficiency is his inability to throw out runners consistently. If he puts that together, wow. I hope he is around Atlanta for a good, long time.
Carroll Rogers, 8:43 pm “It was his ["Chipper's] fourth home run of the year, second from the right side”
He should have had two in Citi Field. Chipper’s hitting the ball much better since his day off. I’m glad he backed up his “shout out” to his team-mates about increasing their intensity at home.

Yeah, if he gets his throwing together…he’s gonna be some kind of a baseball player! I think David Ross is helping him with his footwork like Chip and Joe said.
That throw kinda fooled me, too, though–looked like it was gonna be way high. But thankfully Escobar caught it and applied the tag. Ya know, if you count the pickoff one of our pitchers made the other day, McCann’s caught 40% of would-be base stealers! Without that pickoff, it’s still 30%! (Would be higher if it wasn’t for Greg Gibson’s bad call.)
I hope he is around Atlanta for a good, long time.
ME, TOO!!</i Hope he spends his entire career here!
FrankieKnuckles – I moved to Key Largo about 11 years ago and eventually settled close to Big Pine Key about 5 years ago.
I told Carroll today about running the Seven Mile Bridge Run which is from western Marathon to Bahia Honda Key. Seven miles across that beautiful blue water sounds like a lot of fun – especially about 5 minutes after I finished.
You know, I’m really quite happy that we got Vazquez. Out of all the pitcher that could have been gotten, he has the ability to be quite exciting between striking out 10 per game and the flirts with danger. Sort of like watching a closer for 6 innings a game.
jeff321 probably because he was going to give Jo-Jo every opportunity to succeed as a starter first because a) that’s what he’s always done and b) that’s what they needed out of him. but that didn’t work, so they go to plan B.
Just saw a replay of Smith from Colorado tagging up on 3rd base (he made it home safe without a throw). The Pirates appealed at 3rd and the umpire called him out. Video replay showed that he did NOT leave early and should have remained safe. I know these teams have no bearing on the Braves…but I wanted to voice something here that I have felt baseball should do just like hockey. Why not have a “war room” like hocky where the head umpire gets on the phone in the ball park to MLB home office and let the team at the home office confirm the play? It only takes about 60 seconds in hockey…won’t make the baseball game too much longer. In this case, could cose Colorado the game since the score remains 1-0 Pittsburgh instead of a 1-1 tie…in the 8th inning too!!!
cabravesfan – How about a few glasses of Jim Beam and ginger? Hey, I could have gone to the club ( where my friends who still want to be 21 are currently in route ) but I said why spend 80 bucks when I can follow the game and stay out of trouble.

Ah, here it is, directly from Ms. Rogers’ excellent piece regarding his call-up:
“Medlen was originally scheduled to start tonight against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in Allentown, Pa. Now he’ll pitch an inning or two to tune up, following Hanson, whose start was pushed back from the second game of a doubleheader Friday to Saturday. Medlen will head to Atlanta from Pennsylvania.”

I was just thinking how weird it was for old man Loaf Anderson to have Swagga Like Us as his walk up music. Then I realized that after my birthday next week, I’ll only be 1 year younger than him.(If I knew how to do those emoticons, I’d insert a sad face here.)

Fred, Efrim, I read somewhere that they moved his start to tomorrow vs. Lehigh Valley. I’ll try to find it…

Dangit! No double there.
his AVG is .277. Was up to .286 after that hit in his first AB. Well, there’s still time.

Top of the seventh and Vazquez slices up Whitesell, who robbed McCann of a hit in the bottom of the sixth. Payback.

Its time to yank Javy. I don’t care if he gets out of this inning unscathed or not.. He just looks out of gas.
