Tomorrow, down 8- 1, Bennett will pitch a scoreless 6th inning and Bobby will be overheard saying, “Attababy!”

Beltran was out at third on the steal and he was out at the plate on that last pitch. beltran is a puss and didn’t want to swing the bat. Umps blew this game for the Braves. Yeah, Bennett sux, but the strike zone shouldn’t shrink beacuse the game is in extra innings.

This one hurts as bad as the loss to Philly earlier this year.

Bennett is here by regulated to mop up duty. His stats have been mis-leading, and it showed again tonight.

W.T. Sherman Beltran would just as easily be the goat if the ump at third had gotten that call right becuase it would have been 2 outs and an 0-2 count to Tatis. You were helped by the ump and you didn’t get a walk off hit. Beltran probably hits an easy fly if Bennett throws a strike two. Why do I know this, becuase its the Mets. It took us giving you the game for you to win. It’s like me bragging that we just knocked Santana around yesterday.

Why does everyone blame Cox for the loss? Bennett is a major league pitcher, shouldn’t we put the blame on him for walking 2 guys in a or wnad walking in the winning run?

Cox is a hall of fame manager, when will you guys realize that Bobby can’t do everything for this team – he’s the MANAGER for a reason, not a player.

While it’s true ump’s blown call om Beltran’s steal of 3rd pivotal, Bobby Cox putting Jeff Bennett in that 3-3 game in 9th shows why this team CAN’T BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. Bonehead move by washed-up manager.
Bennett type of guy who only pitches up by 10 or down by 10.

Original Jon: I was responding to why Soriano was not in the game in the 10th. As for the 9th, I agree the righty-righty match-ups favored Soriano. The question is whether he could go the third straight day after a long inning last night. Suppose Soriano had pitched the 9th and gave up a run, how many people would be on the blog saying “Gonzo was rested and Soriano wasn’t so Gonzo should have been in the game”? I’ll bet the answer is a bunch.

Bennett’s stats are NOT misleading. The league is batting almost .400 against him!! His low era was because he usually comes in when there are guys on base and he lets them score and screws up the previous pitcher’s era. Why he is wearing anything but a Mickey D’s uni is beyond me???

This was a helluva game, with a terrible ending. I guess Bennett was Bobby’s only option, I don’t know, but leaving him in after he was clearly in trouble was a bad move. Continuing to run Kelly Johnson out there when Infante has shown that he is more than capable just makes NO sense to me. A lead off hitter that strikes out “looking” twice and hits pop ups to the outfield is not my idea of a good option.

Mets got an unearned win. Bull^$&!

Bennett has not been that bad this year. I don’t get it. He got the first two outs and then a bunch of crap. That last pitch was right there. The guy just called it a strike right before.

I don’t know what to say about Bobby. I really don’t like him taking a guy out after one at bat or a hit and just plowing through the bullpen like there’s no tomorrow.

I hate Jose Reyes more than any human being on the planet. That guy is such an arrogant piece of &^%#. I want to see a fastball in his ribs tomorrow for his classless grandstanding. Just a complete @$$hole.

As tough a loss as this is, I don’t think you can compare it to the 08 K. Johnson dropped ball. I was at that game 8 rows back in front of Kelly when he dropped it and as bad as tonight was, it doesn’t have the same feel that that one did. I really feel the Braves are a much better team then 08 strickly because the pitching is much better.

You could feel the air come out of the team after that loss in 08 and I don’t get that feeling about this club. They had just lost Smoltz for the year and Glavine was on the DL when that game happened.

Braves will be okay. A win tommorrow would be really big.

For all those saying Soriano should have worked the 9th, I really don’t believe he was available. He worked three games in a row and Gonzo got the day off yesterday so he made the smart call. Who’s to say Soriano would have had good stuff. If he’s not locating we all know he can give up the long ball. I put this one on the offense and failing to get the add on runs. Two straight innings they stranded the leadoff man and Francoeur with the bases loaded when we were up 3-0 had a chance to really knock them out. Mets are a weak team mentally and I don’t think they come back. Difference in tonights game and this one is we aplied the knock out punch yesterday.

Bobby Cox Rox!, I’ve been on this blog (under various names) for about four years now, and regardless of whether they win or lose, I’ve always maintained that Bobby Cox should be in retirement. When they lost their best arms, they lost their best chances to win, because Maddux, Smoltz and Glavine in their prime covered up a multitude of sins, the very same ones that plague this team today – poor fundamentals, poor situational hitting, bullpen blowups, questionable lineups, questionable in-game decisions, and an annoying sense of loyalty towards mediocre talent (Jeff Francoeur and Kelly Johnson being the latest). Do YOU think the Braves can compete for a World Championship with their current roster and management? The answer should be obvious…..

I’ve actually come to really admire the Celtics this post-season.

I’m a life-long Lakers fan; but, I learned long ago that blind hatred prevents you from appreciating greatness.

What the Celtics are doing without Garnett is quite inspiring, and I really look forward to seeing a Celtics-Cavs ECF.

The Cavs are a better team, especially with no Garnett, and have home court advantage; but, the Celtics are not gonna roll over and die, and that alone, should make for a great ECF.

In 2005, Miami began the play-offs 8-0, but ran into the defending champion Pistons in the ECF. Despite looking dominant through 2 rounds, the Heat fell short in the ECF.

The champs are gonna be a tough out.

Ouch that hurt.

Bobby left JJ in too long. Really no reason to run him out there in the 8th.

BC has a habit of sniffing a complete game and wants to give his guy a shot. That side of him gets the team into more trouble than it is worth.

The game should have been won and over in the 8th with the right pitcher sequence – but alas all arm chair QB at this point.

Instead they ride the Rolaids wagon into the 10th an lose on bases loaded walk. We have seen Bennett do this more than once. Two quick outs and then he cannot close the deal.

Cannot blame Bobby for it all, though he did his best to make it interesting. All I know is you don’t want to go into the 10th inning with Bennett and the game on the line.

Gonzo was hyper even for him but the game was essentially lost in the 8th.

Tough loss and long/short ride back to the hotel.

Let’s see will JOJO feel any pressure tomorrow? Methinks he will be puking in his hat between innings. The series win is on his back know.

I am sick and tired of watching quality start after quality start wasted by a lethargic bullpin. It has been terrible not just this year and last. I can’t remember the last time we had a decent bullpin. Anytime you pitch 7 2/3 shutout innings and leave up 3 there’s no way you should lose. Gonzalez and Moylan need to be moved out and if Kelley Johnson doesn’t start showing up to play we might as well move him too. Give some of that incredible farm talent a chance. DOB – that is why the Braves are absurds. The baseball gods don’t owe them squat. Chipper is complaining about that call. Of course the call was terrible, but shouldn’t we be more concerned with a pitcher who walks 2 guys after an intentional walk? One of whom was Ramon Castro, the last bench player. Please tell me why this guy is still on this roster. Even the announcers were saying how his ERA is deceptive since he has so many baserunners. Also, maybe Gonzalez wasn’t fresh because he warmed up yesterday. Why was Gonzalez warming up in an 8-3 game? It doesn’t matter that there were baserunners on. Obviously he shouldn’t have been warming up. I’m sure that affected him today. These kinds of losses are the Braves hallmark the last few years. They are losers.

W.T. Sherman, oh man, you gotta lot to be proud of…a greasy, arrogant stankin a** SS who makes more mental errors than anybody I’ve ever seen and well, that pretty much sums up the Mutts! You have absolutely nothing to brag about…NOTHING! Go back in your little hole and come out when we say so!

With a big assist from the umps, Mets stole a win tonight. Don’t be mislead by New Age mumbo jumbo, speed disrupts, it puts pressure on the defense and get’s into the pitcher’s head.

The Mets would not have been in position to win this game had they believed staying put on base was their best way to go.Beltran wouldn’t have been in position to get a gift call by the umps, and Reyes would not have attempted to steal 2nd.

The Mets made it happen by forcing the action tonight. No need to blame Bobby, or JJ, or Garret Anderson or whoever. The real difference in this game was one team featured speed as part of it’s offense and the other did not.

Let’s hope the good version of JoJo shows up tomorrow afternoon, we can still take the series so no need to go overboard with the complaining.

You are a pathetic front-running piece of $***. We beat you in every aspect of the game. If we hadn’t had it taken from us you wouldn’t be anywhere near this blog.

You should be embarrassed. Please do me a favor a) why don’t you not talk trash until you can finally beat us in the season series, b) remember that we won the first six games in a row against your Mutts last year and neither of us went to the playoffs, c) we beat your best pitcher for the fourth straight time and d) go **** yourself.

Get some perspective you pathetic f’n piece of *&^%.

Why do the Braves turn to these scrap pile relievers? Bennett & Carlyle were both unemployed, released by other teams and only the Braves would sign them. Why do we not use some of our own minor league pitchers before signing rag-arm derelicts who no other team would even want?

njbrave….That comment toward LEW was not intended for you….That Vermont cross dresser knows what I’m talking about. He’s just lacks the backbone to say anthing now cause it doesn’t work in his favor.

Parr is a pretty good pitcher whoever knocked him. A lot better than Jeff Bennett. Lets give some of our guys in AAA a shot in the bullpen.

Bobby has got to be fired. Horrible managing. You don’t use Jeff until he is your last pitcher.

Sherman…I don’t give a f@$k where you’re from. Truth is, Braves got screwed out of this game by the umps. If that play was a Brave stealing third, you guys would all be on here crying your eyes out. Mets and there fans are a classless bunch, always have been. One day sombody is gonna put one in Reyes’ ear and it will be well deserved.

How the fuc can u be 1-2 with a 1.98 era. JJ should be gettin all kinds of gifts from these clowns he has to pitch for. The kid should be 5-1. Im sick of watching him pitch his heart only for the lineup to let him down. Its to much of a coincindence for me. Derek Lowe will come out and give up ten runs and the braves will score eleven for him. That shyt aint right.

DOB, if Chipper said the whole game was about that call he’s confirmed what I thought all along he’s so full of BS.
This was a loss caused by nothing other than simply bad bad management from the dugout. Bad management of the pitching selection keeping JJ in too long, not pitching Soriano, and staying with Bennet too long as well.
I have to tell you right now I’m just no that interested in hearing what Chipper has to say, what I want is to see Chipper back something up with performance and actually be a leader by example rather than just opionate every chance he gets.
Bad bad loss by this team, just an absolute give away.
If there is any doubt Cox needs to retire tonight pretty much summed it up.

J Bennett PC-ST 22-8

14 balls in 22 pitches Phuking horrible Phuking horrible
It’s inexcusable to have a pitcher out there to walk three straight guys. I could understand when we had a 9 run lead against Philly maybe try to work through it. But when we are playing a 1st place team we need to have a game plan past the 9th inning. Bobby has no clue how to win a close game let alone a freaking extra inning game. I have held my tongue about Cox entirely too long. We lost in the post season every year because he doesn’t understand the definition of crucial. All he knows how to do is bus three of the greatest pitchers ever out to the mound and collect his .625 winning percentage every year. Since the 1999 World Series the braves are 9-20 in the postseason. Since the last year we made the playoff(2005) the braves are 235-251 with an average of 14 games out of 1st those 3 years. You say Bobby deserves a pass I say he has already gotten one over the last 519 games. Hang em up 6 your love of the game is costing the city of Atlanta their baseball team.

nolie,

I know whose fault this game is:

Joe Simpson’s.

Dude just wouldn’t shut up about how wonderful the team is, would he? I mean, he just had to sell that season ticket deal like a desperate hooker. Makes me ****ing sick.

Good grief. After the loss, this blog lit up like the 4th if July.

I’m as frustrated about the loss as anyone else, especially some of the blown calls by the umps.

But some people are doing everything short of cursing the Almighty God here.

Oh well, I hope the good Jo Jo shows up tomorrow.
