Powell just compared salries between Lowe and Santana. I bet after taxes Lowe makes more imo.
May 11th, 20098:22 pm
Because Kelly is the next coming of Chase Utley.
No duh. Youk is off to an incredible start. I was complaining about Morgan, not saying Youk is overrated. If Morgan had said, “in addition to hitting .393, he’s also got a X OBP, a X SLG%, and X HR”, he’d have done a much better job of illustrating his point rather than saying, “and he’s not just hitting .393, but it’s a hard .393″.
May 11th, 20098:23 pm
I was supposed to be somewhere but it got cancelled so I’m still watching. Yaay me!
That double play was amazing especially since Kelly almost blew that play to end the inning. I literally can’t believe they turned that. That’s just not like Kelly.
And I’m not going to say anything to the Mets people loitering on the blog until after the game so in the meantime I’ll just say, you suck.
I love when people proof read a blog that gets 5 posts a minute. That one would be a poster child for those in need of a life.

Another K for KJ.
It gonna be interesting what will the braves get when they try to get rid of KJ……….He should have been gone when we were able to at least get another MLB player for him and not six pack of Coca cola……….
This is not a slump anymore………he is just bad. His glove is looking better but man does he looks bad at the plate.
May 11th, 20098:25 pm
I misread your earlier post, PW. Thought you sad a “bad” .393. (that is a hard .393, though, LOL).
MFin04 (The Hopeless Romantic)
Glad to know that Oliver Perez and Derek Lowe are in the same category of pitcher? Are you kidding me? Who are these announcers?!?
That would’ve probably been an out at the old Shea
May 11th, 20098:26 pm
KJ sometimes reminds me of a great American, Helen Keller.
Inquiring minds would like to know how many of the Muts Fans are posting under multiple names.
No More Bobby
May 11th, 20098:27 pm
ESPN announcers hate the Braves! Can they disguise it a little better? Go call your little league world series games Oral!!! Braves announcers are the best!!!
May 11th, 20098:28 pm
LOL Shamus. Y’all know we’re not allowed to say anything negative about KJ. His dads, moms, brothers, wives, and girlfriends all post here and are ready to pounce.
Nice AB by prado & a “look what i found” by Castillo. Prado was pissed he didn’t get air under that…almost hit one of those gappers.

83 pitches by Santana through 5 innings. If we could make him really work in the 6th, we could chase him relatively early (by his standards).
Man, how frustrating could it be to bat against any of this 2 pitchers…….
(juan pierre is hitting a soft .426)
Only one flyball out so far against Lowe
Steve from OH
May 11th, 20098:30 pm
That’s because he’s French.
May 11th, 20098:31 pm
And just as I type that, a flyball single to left
What was Kotchman doing on that one?
Effin’ Texas League hit
May 11th, 20098:32 pm
First real chance for the Mets tonight… Time to buckle down Lowe.
Yeah, most of the great French baseball players come from Mobile, Alabama!
Casey just missed that one.
Oh listen, someone woke the Mets fans up.
interesting if it goes to 2 outs do they pull Santana?
Casey should have had that…but KJ defiantly should have been backing him up and could have made a play too.
Little bad luck for the Braves – let’s see how they respond
Eric from MO
PWH no your just bein a jacka$$. We knew what Morgan meant, just get over it. The Braves annoucers are awful too.
DP ball coming up right here.
both of em efed that play up….sigh
May 11th, 20098:33 pm
Derek Lowe just went ahead and lost his chance at a win, hope he didn’t want won.
going to come down to the pens now imo
OK no more predictions from me.
May 11th, 20098:34 pm
Yeah, when the Americans captured Mobile from the French in 1896, they dropped the accent from the “e.” It was formerly “Mobilay.” Hence the Frenchness.
That might not be entirely accurate.
To say kelly isn’t slumping and is simply bad seems a little exagerrated to me… he certainly looked bad on that pitch, but that what Santana does, he makes you look bad, especialy when he’s on top of his game. I really wouldn’t expect a slumping hitter to start getting hot against a pitcher throwing as well as he is.
Of course, in-game pessimism is the way this blog works, so i don’t know why i even bother.
LET’S GO BRAVES!!
Braves really need to work the count here in this inning…
May 11th, 20098:35 pm
Tennessee Paul…uh, Kotchman was covering the bag at first. There was a runner there, you know?
rabid in queens
well well well
Did y’all say BMac took his glasses off while catching? I haven’t seen much of the Mets batting…
Not sure I like this park, BTW.
May 11th, 20098:36 pm
Kotchman hasnt made an error since he has been traded to the Braves and one bad play and our faithful bloggers get pissed at him.
Come Braves, let’s get some runs and not Santana out of the game while we are at it!!!!
Kelly is just plain bad. period. Everyone has stared into his eyes and seen into his dark little soul.
May 11th, 20098:37 pm
That was a dumb luck bullsh!t run by the Mets. Oh well.
I hope we can make santana really work in this inning. Not that their bullpen is weak or anything, but most anything is better than facing Santana.
that was just a high hop, no one under 6 foot 5 would have had that one with the first baseman holding the runner, agree it was just bad luck
It’s amazing how Powell sounds just like Uecker!
May 11th, 20098:38 pm
This ump is interesting. Lowe isnt getting the low strike…and Santana is. Not very consistent.
enough with the change up
DIAZ…2 for 3 tonight so far
May 11th, 20098:39 pm
Matty Baseball owns Johan
Diaz, whatever you’re taking that allows you to see the ball from Santana…PASS IT ON, BROTHER! Hopefully the rest of the lineup can follow suit!
Sheesh…What the devil did you swing at that for?
Wish this dumb team still had Heilman…
May 11th, 20098:40 pm
Change up change up change up change up. Change up, change up!
Kotchman should change the spelling of his first name to Kasey.
Then he can get a job as a DJ when his playing days are thru.
May 11th, 20098:41 pm
94 pitches for Santana and counting…
May 11th, 20098:42 pm
Kotch is battlin’!
May 11th, 20098:43 pm
Wow…Im pretty sure he swung.
Orel Hershiser: “The Power Fingers connect to the brain, here [points to head].”
Huh. And here I thought the finger bone is connected to the hand bone. What a lousy education I’ve recieved off the public school system…although I’m sure many new, exciting scientific discoveries have been made since I left HS. What’s next? The footbone connected to the shoulder bone? Riveting stuff.
That sounded real bad……hope it was not CKs hand.
Met’s bullpen isn’t fantastic….Braves have been hitting Putz.
that hurt me…hope he’s ok
May 11th, 20098:44 pm
Thats hand has a bone broken…….i would bet 100 bucks.
OUCH!!! Dayum, Casey, that has to hurt, dude!!!
I hope Kotchy’s hand bone is still connected to his arm bone…
Steve shutup! They have to talk about something.
May 11th, 20098:45 pm
We Really need to start retialating against teams that hit our batters. Obviously don’t retialiate in this game but we need to let teams know that we don’t put up with that crap instead of shrugging it off!
That is not a good approach Jeff…we need to work the count here….duh!
He swings at everything. It’s scary.
Does Casey know he plays for the Braves? That hit on the hand will get him a spell on the DL for sure.
It would suck that one of our more consistent hitting players gets hurt. Dammit!
Hope he’s okay…
He didn’t swing at it…the bat kinda came forward after he was hit/dropping the bat.
WTF Frenchy! Way to make him work with his high pitch count.
Same Old Frenchie Result in a key situation
dumbest hitter ever
May 11th, 20098:46 pm
Here comes another automatic out.
No prayer with Schafer up there
He could have chosen a more intelligent way to express his thoughts. That’s all I’m saying. And that wasn’t nearly the most asinine thing he said that night.
Why dont you all mute the TV. If you want just put on some music. I do this when I get tired of the Braves horrible announcers.
May 11th, 20098:47 pm
Chip sucks, but I kind of like Joe and Boog.
Schafer hit the ball…that’s good. Frenchy…first pitch out…that’s not as good. At least we made him throw pitches…now he will only go 8.
Tomahawkin it was Matt’s fault he got hit. Why in the hell would you retaliate?
May 11th, 20098:48 pm
The blog loves it some retaliation! T’hawkin, you don’t retaliate when they hit you on the hand on a half swing. You retaliate when you think they’re throwing at you.
Man We Never Score When one of our batters gets hit…
I had to leave for a Minute, Anyone want to fill me in as to What we hitting with R.I.S.P??? I’m guessing 0-6
In the 8th if it’s Reyes, Castillo and Beltran who do you use against 3 SH? Soriano or Gonzo in the 8th
Steve Phillips is exactly right about out lineup nobody to get you excited about alot of role players no superstars when you star is your catcher especially one with one eye its very bad
Francoer and Schafer look hopeless up there. I’ll cut Schafer a little more slack for obvious reasons.Anyobdy hope Pendleton gets the manager job after Cox just so he aint hitting coach anymore?
Santana not ****, Jeff and Schafer suck.
“Santana’s somethin’,” says Chip. He got out the two worst batters in the line-up. How incredible!
I mean Kasey not Matt.
May 11th, 20098:50 pm
How can anybody not want to strangle Francoeur right now. Even die hard Franc. fans have to be disappointed in his appraoch in clutch spots lately. WHY swing at the first pitch after the guy just beaned your hitter? WHY…
No, I want to see Mark Lemke back in there as manager
May 11th, 20098:52 pm
100 pitches for Santana. I think he works 1 more inning.
jeff francoeur is useless. Absolutely useless. Does he even have an idea, any semblance of a strategy other than just swing that slow lumbering golf swing of his at the first pitch each and every time?
He has ZERO power now and can’t even hit doubles anymore. I bet his stats look like this at the all star break: .235 6 HR 31 RBI
May 11th, 20098:53 pm
what do you want to bet that was a HR in philly?
Golf clap for Lowe…WOW, is he a damn good pitcher!
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
