Kelly Johnson BAHLOWS.
His average is dropping, not his averaging is droppong sorry.
May 11th, 20097:40 pm
Phillips got all over Chipper for “giving out the scouting report on Schafer last week.” Said if he was in the other dugout, he would’ve said “thank you very much” for that.
If the scouts didn’t pick up on the hole in Schafer’s swing before Chipper made it “public” then I think MLB is in dire need of some new scouts.
May 11th, 20097:42 pm
Hey anyone: Did any Braves use a pink bat in yesterday’s game?
If so, are they auctioning them off? Where?
rabid in queens
May 11th, 20097:44 pm
“Kelly Johnson BAHLOWS”
I think a few braves used them. Kotchman, Schafer, Yunel I know did. I believe they auction them off on mlb.com soon
May 11th, 20097:46 pm
Phillips seems to know a whole lot about testosterone, artificial testosterone, how the body reacts to it, etc… Seems kind of weird to me.
May 11th, 20097:47 pm
I read a stat the other day..that even though Santana has been lights out he hasn’t gone more than 7 in any game…with Putz and K-Rod you shouldn’t have to but if you ain’t got a high pitch count why come out?
May 11th, 20097:48 pm
I see that there is someone named Bobby’s Cox.
Would that be like if, last year, I posted under the name Randolph’s Willy?
May 11th, 20097:49 pm
I told y’all defense would win this game.
May 11th, 20097:50 pm
ground hog, i’m sure the fan would have taken couple of balls..
May 11th, 20097:52 pm
small ball baby.. it’s great to see us playing station to station
OK need a clutch hit here
May 11th, 20097:53 pm
God, this broadcast is awful. They haven’t stopped talking about how a change-up works the entire broadcast. I just want to scream, “HEY OREL, REMEMBER 1995??!?!?!?”
Well this is why you pay Lowe the big bucks. Come on Lowe!
May 11th, 20097:54 pm
didnt really work the pitch count in that inning.
haha I love the bias there on that official call. That is an error on castillo
Steve from OH
Yeah, every station except “home plate.”
could there be 3 bigger mets homers in the broadcast booth tonight? nevermind the fact that just about hitter in the lineup has hit santana hard including the pitcher, they have to belittle that by claiming the only “clean hit” of the 5 so far tonight was by lowe and how unlucky poor santana is.
Eric from MO
May 11th, 20097:55 pm
What his pitch count after 3? Cant really get too mad at our guys for not scoring more than one. Other than Greinke no one is pitching better than Santana. Just hope they can drive up the pitch count and get him out, even though the Mets have a great pen. Maybe we will win another 1-0.
PWHjort, I hear ya the espn broadcast is annoying. They busted out all these stats about no hitters for mets after we got a hit. Who cares?
I a unable to watch the game in tv, but I am watching it on game cast. Are these called strikes that Santana is getting being gifted by the ump. They are showing as being outside or inside too much.
lexbrave they just play to the audience. Alot more viewers out of NY unfortunateley.
May 11th, 20097:56 pm
lexbrave, yeah, there’s more to them drooling over the Mutts than we knoe. What, I don’t know, but that is very strange.
May 11th, 20097:58 pm
It’s early, but Lowe is looking good so far.
Gotta love how D-Lowe is getting the first pitch over for strikes tonight. He is playing from ahead of every hitter.
Will everyone calm down about ESPN loving the Mets. Back when the Braves used to be on top of the division they talked about how great and remarkable the Braves were. If you were another team it would make you sick too.
All ESPN broadcasts are miserable. And I can’t say this is worse than Sunday Night Baseball with Joe Morgan and Steve Phillips, but this is pretty close. Last night, Joe Morgan reminded us that Kevin Youkilis isn’t just hitting .393, but a “hard” .393. What an idiot.
May 11th, 20097:59 pm
He remembers PWHjort.
I love watching that broadcast of the 95 season on the MLB channel because of how big a baby he was. He was crying about something like every time they interviewed him.
I don’t care about them being Mets homers. I’m just not thrilled at how stupid they are.
Jaime Newburg can eat it . I’ll take Escobar over Elvis.
then unlucky santana got a great diving stop off another smoked ball to save him another run. talk about unlucky, kid just cant catch a break out there.
May 11th, 20098:00 pm
Joe talking smack?
Really nice play by Escobar on that gb by Santos… his first instinct was to make quick off-balance throw, but he realized he had time to set and fire a strike. Nice play.
May 11th, 20098:01 pm
“I don’t see a lot of life in my team” – Ozzie Guillen… It’d be nice to hear Cox call out the lack of enthusiasm from the Braves
defender of Joe
“Last night, Joe Morgan reminded us that Kevin Youkilis isn’t just hitting .393, but a “hard” .393. What an idiot.”
Why is that idiotic. He was pointing out that Youkilis wasn’t just getting infield singles but was getting extra base hits (and clutch hits at that).
May 11th, 20098:02 pm
I can see most of the rats are back in their holes. Of course they will say they were at the game.
Lowe is in command. He could easily go 8.
May 11th, 20098:03 pm
no you dont want that. trust me im live in chicago and its annoying.
aswingruber do you think Ozzie has been a successful manager other than one season?
A lot of people talking about the BSPN telecast they must not live in the Atlanta Area…
FO to the C
Kotchman: FO to the C.
““I don’t see a lot of life in my team” – Ozzie Guillen… It’d be nice to hear Cox call out the lack of enthusiasm from the Braves”
Yeah, Ozzie is real good at dumping on his players when things aren’t going well. Really an admirable trait.
May 11th, 20098:04 pm
do we have to hear about francoeur’s adjustment every freakin’ time we play on ESPN???
Simpson just told on of the booth people to go ask Ron Darling, the mets broadcaster, if they’ve had enough of the Bravos yet. I love my Peachtree feed. No commercials and uncensered booth feed.
May 11th, 20098:05 pm
WOW – Shafer didn’t strike out. I wonder if he remmebered where 1st base was???
Yeah Ozzie defiently got more out of Vazquez than Bobby is.
WTF are we doing all of a sudden. The first 2 innings we get Santana up to 44 pitches. Last inning he threw 7 pitches, and we swung at ALL of them except one. Its like these guys forget themselves and whats working between innings.
May 11th, 20098:06 pm
Big inning coming up for the Mets.
and cox’s blind loyalty has worked wonders for us huh mbatl.. sometimes players don’t need be a fire lit under their ass to get things going….
May 11th, 20098:07 pm
*players NEED a fire lit under their ass to get things going, i meant
“A VERY QUICK INNING FOR JOOOOHHHAAANNNN SANTANA!!!!” Brought to you by the douche bags on ESPN… they also had to remind everybody that the Braves run was UNEARNED.
Would watch PTV, but Chip does make me sick.
Ok, first people b!tch because ESPN talks about the Mets too much. Now they b!tch because they talk about Francouer too much. Jesus Christ!
It’s the same ‘ol Braves. Good game plan at the start and it goes right out the windeow once the game gets going.
We need for KJ to get below the mendoza line in order for Cox to understand some things.
Rabid how does it feel to live everyday in NY like a red-headed stepchild? lol
“Its like these guys forget themselves and whats working between innings.”
Braves = dumbest team in baseball. The team reflects the manager.
MFin04 (The Hopeless Romantic)
Depressing to see such a short inning when we’ve worked the count with Santana so well so far. We’d be much better off getting him out of the game and seeing his pitch count rise.
May 11th, 20098:08 pm
So that pitch is a strike against Kotchman and a ball on Reyes?
Wow Medlin may be up before Hanson lol.
May 11th, 20098:09 pm
“and cox’s blind loyalty has worked wonders for us huh mbatl”
Over the course of a career, I’d say yeah, it has. You can’t shame players into hitting a slider or throwing strikes. At least, that’s my view (and apparently Bobby’s). Don’t want to debate it all night, though, so you can have the last word.
McCann give up the glasses for catching…good or bad? TBD
McCann takes off the glasses…
May 11th, 20098:10 pm
I can’t believe this. Joe Morgan is NOT calling the game. What an absolute dream!
That, my friends, was DP to C.
Your right aswingruber it sure worked last year when things werent going right and Ozzie threw his players under the bus. They made one hell of a run in the playoffs…
Wow. That was nice!
Nice turn guys!
Wow, good thing Chipper is out, Prado turns a darn good double play…WOW!!!!
Nice work there by Marteen and Kelly. Well done.
OK…Steve Philips finally made a valid point…that DP was b/c of Prado…excellent play and a good call on who made it.
I don’t see a lot of life in my team” – Ozzie Guillen… It’d be nice to hear Cox call out the lack of enthusiasm from the Braves (aswing)
yeah all that crap Ozzie spouts against his team all the time has really proven successful hasn’t it? Guy is a jackass. He’ll likely be out of a job in a year or two and have a hard time getting rehired.
May 11th, 20098:11 pm
Nice double play..
And the no hit bid is over.
there goes the no hitter
.393 is .393. We’re more than a month into the season. You don’t sustain a .393 average on infield singles and bloops, especially someone like Youkilis, who while he doesn’t run poorly, is no speedster.
May 11th, 20098:12 pm
I hate David Wright
Of course, Cox is dyslexic – so he would say:
“I don’t see a lot of team in my life.”
May 11th, 20098:13 pm
Some would argue that Cox’s approach was a big part of the reason why we only got won WS championship out of 14 playoff appearances… his style certainly hasn’t helped matters over the last three years.. i”m just getting sick of the lack of emotion and i think it starts with the management
May 11th, 20098:14 pm
As a taxpayer (unlike you mets fans) I should have gotten free tickets and hot dogs to this game imo.
OK which one of the regular dirty dozen of in-game crybabies changed his name to Aswipe..oops I mean aswingruber.?
PWH while Chipper didnt sustain the .393 with singles last year he did pretty good with all the singles and bloops. Didnt Tony Gwynn hit .393 in 94? He was pretty much a singles hitter.
Lowe may catch and pass Santana in pitch count the way things are going…ugh.
Chipper craps things bigger than David Wright.
May 11th, 20098:15 pm
WHEWWWHHH!!! Way to knock it down and stay with it KJ
Our infield looks better than the Mets tonight… Nice play by KJ.
At least he kept the ball infront of himself. Better than booting it to the left or right.
Good play by KJ there staying with the play with a fast runner in Wright up. LOTS of ground balls for Lowe.
Well, Lowe’s only thrown 3 less pitches than Santana, thru 4.
May 11th, 20098:16 pm
PWHjort, I didn’t hear the comment, and don’t take particular offense at it anyway. But good grief, Youk has a .719 SLG % and 6 HR in 25 games. One would have to look pretty hard to find much fault in that!
One pitcher does not a starting rotation or bullpen make.
I love when folks confuse won with one. It’s nice. This blog is the poster-child for education reform in this country.
“Chipper craps things bigger than David Wright.”
That’s why he gets paid the big bucks.
May 11th, 20098:17 pm
Awww……kiss cam at Citi…..at least we’re not the only ones to do that
Please stop complaining about the announcers on ESPN. I, for one, am just thankful the game is on ESPN. I think they are doing a fine job talking about both teams. You people that think you can do better are foolish. Just let it go, would ya???
May 11th, 20098:18 pm
Heh way to take out the catcher, DLowe.
I think I’ll order some take out. Maybe some one ton soup. But I’ll need help lifting it.
Come on Perry Laurentino just out yourself-we know that’s you-lol
May 11th, 20098:21 pm
Why in the world would you swing at that Kelly?
Kelly Johnson is a magician with a bat.
He’s going to make his average disappear!
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
