But I’m just so friggin’ sick and tired of folks going on and on and on about these minor leaguers when in all likelihood we’ll be lucky if at most three of them are established starters on the Atlanta Braves 3 to 5 to 10 years from now. (WillyWally)

Does Jim Powell just go take a nap when Sutton is calling the game? I like Sutton but geez I like a little conversation. When Powell is calling the game they work well imo. Just an observation lol
Oh and Dadgum….a couple of questions in relation to your resistence to Glavine.
Ya think Giant fans are ripping their management for signing Randy Johnson? Ya think fans and bloggers here would be rip Frank Wren for bringing back Maddux if he decided to pitch one more season?
To have success against Santana, you gotta swing early in the count. He throws a lot of strikes, and if you get behind 0-1 or 0-2 on him, it’s all over.
He likes to throw a lot of first pitch fastballs, that is where teams have success against him.
I have tried to remain optimistic about the Braves for many years. I have been a fan since the days of Chris Chambliss, Dale Murphy, Bob Horner, and Claudell Washington. With that said, I believe the Braves need to see a cardiologist. Frankly, they lack emotion and love for the game. To me, Chipper Jones and Alex Rodriquez are the most overrated players in baseball. Chipper is a great switch hitter that is a true egomaniac. He is constantly nursing some injury. How many games has the whimp missed in the last 10 years? It is shocking. He has to be leading baseball in that category over the last decade minus a major injury. What hasn’t he hurt? I truly believe the egomaniac hurts the team. He is not a leader. He got his big contract and lost his passion for the game, the fans, and the Braves. I am openly questioning whether he is truly hurt. His injuries are always of” the can’t be confirmed nature”. The Braves have babied him for years. Remember him being moved to left field. The dude couldn’t even play in the World Baseball Classic without an injury. That was his excuse for his embarrassing performance. We will not win a World Series again with Chipper. Trade this guy. He has talent but not heart or passion. Every time he stops a ball at the hot corner or swings at a pitch; I expect an injury.
That Ump should be suspended. There is no way that he should make a scene like that to show up Kotchman. Granted, Kotch shouldn’t have slammed his bat to the ground, but the Ump made it much more of a scene than it really should have been. What a jerk.
BS call on Kotchman. When the catcher’s mitt nearly hits the ground to catch the pitch, it’s a ball. I don’t think the ball dropped knee high to 3 inches high from the front of the plate to the catchers mitt. Not only that, but the pitch also looked outside.
Dawgtime he moved to left field to make room for Vinny Castillo. He as helping the team you stupid moron. You can complain that he misses too many game but get your facts straight.
Look at that picture of Chipper Jones they got on the sight today. Look at it!
I don’t trust a fella that’s got a beard (a scraggly chin thing) and no moustache. That’s not right. He looks like a damn communist is what he looks like. And my daddy fought the communists and they tried to kill him.
So I don’t care about some communist looking baseball player. Why doesn’t he just move to New York. Or better yet, to Cuba. I hear they still got some communists down in cuba. Maybe Castro will congratulate him on his fine communist beard.
To be fare to Kotchman that wasn’t a strike. It’s hard enough facing Santana and if they are going to give him that call that just makes it worse. Did drive his pitch count up though and get a run.
Whoever invented the word “coward”, didn’t know they were inventing it for Mutt fans. MAN, where are the trolls right now that were all over the place these last few days?
Bobby’s Cox,
You’re right about that call. It was a terrible call. I know umpires get it right 99.9% of the time, but that was one of the .1% of the time.
Kris Medlen is on quite a roll with the G-Braves. He threw 6-2/3 innings of two-hit ball with six strikeouts tonight in a 4-0 win against Durham, now he’s 5-0 with an 0.96 ERA in six starts and one relief appearance. Dude hasn’t allowed a run in his past 20 innings.
Tough decision on which channel to watch the game on…ESPN announcers suck, but I can’t stand Chip Caray either (wish Boog was in the booth with Joe). But HD rules so I guess I’ll suffer with the ESPN guys
Interesting comments from Keith Hernandez (you can’t teach an old dog new tricks) and play by play announcer (Jeff Francoeur has gone back to his old habits of swinging at EVERYTHING) about JF.
Franceour is being too aggresive. He is averaging is dropping, and he is not making the pitchers work. Jordan Schafer has too big a swing. He can’t hit the fastball on the middle of the plate.
From my story that should be up soon if it’s not already:
Jones has played fewer than 140 games for the past five consecutive seasons. With 25 games played of 31 team games before Monday, he was on pace to play 130 games this season.
“It is what it is,” said Jones, 37. “I’m getting old. Stuff hurts more.” (DOB)
by the time he was Chipper’s age, Eddie Matthews had suffered through 5 mediocre years in a row(137,134,101,36,31 GP and a .240 or so overall BA) and was already retired. That’s life when you ain’t doin’ roids.
It seems like a good time to call up Medlen to piggy-back with a starter and save the bullpen for a night. We’ve really been cashing the back end of it lately.
