Carlos Beltran. Who has something negative to say about Carlos Beltran?
What about that big ugly mole on his face?
May 11th, 20097:13 pm
But I’m just so friggin’ sick and tired of folks going on and on and on about these minor leaguers when in all likelihood we’ll be lucky if at most three of them are established starters on the Atlanta Braves 3 to 5 to 10 years from now. (WillyWally)
you’re right, and I used to point out all the time how few prospects actually make it as impact players, but I’d catch hell all the time for it, so I don’t do it so much any more
I wonder if Carroll Rogers is watching the SNY feed like me? That Ron Darling is a stud!
Who is your fav brave..general question…
Eric from MO
Thanks DOB that was me.
May 11th, 20097:14 pm
Great AB by Esco, Kelly also missed a good one.
rabid in queens
I don’t have a pink Met’s cap. But I do have a Kelly Johnson pink basball mitt and matching sweatbands with little pink tomahawks on them.
May 11th, 20097:15 pm
Does Jim Powell just go take a nap when Sutton is calling the game? I like Sutton but geez I like a little conversation. When Powell is calling the game they work well imo. Just an observation lol

Contrary to what Mr. Dadgum thinks other-wise
DOB….that’s awesome news about Glavine.
Oh and Dadgum….a couple of questions in relation to your resistence to Glavine.
Ya think Giant fans are ripping their management for signing Randy Johnson? Ya think fans and bloggers here would be rip Frank Wren for bringing back Maddux if he decided to pitch one more season?
I’d be willing to bet…probably not.
Wright does his best Chipper impression!
Nice E 5, Gotta Take Advantage of this!
Jeff 321 said: “That Ron Darling is a stud!”
I rest my case.

Go Prado..DW for GG
Nice play there by Wright.
The Mets will pitch around all nite long against B-Macc. He’s the one guy in the lineup the Mets are not gonna let beat them
Let’s go Brian.
May 11th, 20097:18 pm
He had a good cut
May 11th, 20097:19 pm
I don’t care what happens here, Santana sucks.
We will win.
At least were making Santana throw a lot of pitches this inning. Cross our fingers for Diaz
May 11th, 20097:20 pm
I can’t believe Bobby’s batting McCann cleanup. Cleanup slugger Garret Anderson would’ve launched a grand slam with that.
Come on Matt!
Don’t strike out.

To have success against Santana, you gotta swing early in the count. He throws a lot of strikes, and if you get behind 0-1 or 0-2 on him, it’s all over.
He likes to throw a lot of first pitch fastballs, that is where teams have success against him.
Great running by Escobar!
Can I just pause here to say….. LMFAO
Good hustle Esco!
**** YOU METS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SUCK ON IT!!!!!
wow.. great heads up baserunning by eskcy!
nice hustle by escobar!
wright having a terrible inning…
Mark in PA
Escobar’s aggressiveness certainly paid off there. And Wright’s D, of course.
good times, good times. way to stay on it yunel.
Saw that one comin’! Matty’s a hustler
Once more..DW gets the GG
Sweet Lord, Bobby…why is Matt Diaz batting 5th?? He’s struggling and obviously looking awkward, and got real lucky on that play.
May 11th, 20097:22 pm
“I don’t care what happens here, Santana sucks. We will win.”
Maybe in the bizarro world of Braves fans.
That was really good baserunning from Escobar…either really good or really bad for him, huh?
Diaz is 9-for-16 now in his career against Santana. Also has a homer against him. Not to mention a homer this year in spring training, too.
I have tried to remain optimistic about the Braves for many years. I have been a fan since the days of Chris Chambliss, Dale Murphy, Bob Horner, and Claudell Washington. With that said, I believe the Braves need to see a cardiologist. Frankly, they lack emotion and love for the game. To me, Chipper Jones and Alex Rodriquez are the most overrated players in baseball. Chipper is a great switch hitter that is a true egomaniac. He is constantly nursing some injury. How many games has the whimp missed in the last 10 years? It is shocking. He has to be leading baseball in that category over the last decade minus a major injury. What hasn’t he hurt? I truly believe the egomaniac hurts the team. He is not a leader. He got his big contract and lost his passion for the game, the fans, and the Braves. I am openly questioning whether he is truly hurt. His injuries are always of” the can’t be confirmed nature”. The Braves have babied him for years. Remember him being moved to left field. The dude couldn’t even play in the World Baseball Classic without an injury. That was his excuse for his embarrassing performance. We will not win a World Series again with Chipper. Trade this guy. He has talent but not heart or passion. Every time he stops a ball at the hot corner or swings at a pitch; I expect an injury.
David Wright for gold glove?
May 11th, 20097:23 pm
Joe, what are you talking about!?
His whole body crossed the plate.
Orel Hershiser is such a Mutt lover! Anybody with a brain can see how obvious that is. We all know moron Steve Phillips is.
Awesome to make Santana work this much in the 1st.
May 11th, 20097:24 pm
Gotta love Matt’s speed.
Just gotta make contact.
Way To Fight Kotch!
27 Pitch Inning against Johan, I’ll take it! He should be out after 5
That did not look like a strike to me either Kotchman
WTF ?? Santana’s changeup fooled even the plate umpire..
Thanks for wasting my time Dawgtime.
May 11th, 20097:25 pm
Dawgtime…”It is what it is”
That Ump should be suspended. There is no way that he should make a scene like that to show up Kotchman. Granted, Kotch shouldn’t have slammed his bat to the ground, but the Ump made it much more of a scene than it really should have been. What a jerk.
A run 3 hits and an error and about 25 pitches.
Yep. Santana is terrifying so far.
May 11th, 20097:26 pm
BS call on Kotchman. When the catcher’s mitt nearly hits the ground to catch the pitch, it’s a ball. I don’t think the ball dropped knee high to 3 inches high from the front of the plate to the catchers mitt. Not only that, but the pitch also looked outside.
I can’t stand infield popups with RISP…
Santana knows that the Braves have OWNED him more than any team in baseball the last dew years. It showed in that 1st inning.
Dawgtime he moved to left field to make room for Vinny Castillo. He as helping the team you stupid moron. You can complain that he misses too many game but get your facts straight.
My bad, meant few years.
Look at that picture of Chipper Jones they got on the sight today. Look at it!
I don’t trust a fella that’s got a beard (a scraggly chin thing) and no moustache. That’s not right. He looks like a damn communist is what he looks like. And my daddy fought the communists and they tried to kill him.
So I don’t care about some communist looking baseball player. Why doesn’t he just move to New York. Or better yet, to Cuba. I hear they still got some communists down in cuba. Maybe Castro will congratulate him on his fine communist beard.
May 11th, 20097:27 pm
Bring it Derek.
Be the ace. Big game. Gotta win tonight cause you know JJ’s gonna set ‘em down.
Don’t you all appreciate my usage of the apostrophe? Hey, what year is it? ‘09.
Suck on it Mets.
Gotta go. Let’s get a f******* win.
Pelfrey starting tomorrow for Mets. Chipper Jones is 3-for-10 with two home runs and six walks against him…
Stick to football, dawgtime.
May 11th, 20097:28 pm
To be fare to Kotchman that wasn’t a strike. It’s hard enough facing Santana and if they are going to give him that call that just makes it worse. Did drive his pitch count up though and get a run.
Use two hands son!
nothing adds insult to injury like an umpire taking his mask off and saying words to a frustrated hitter after he clearly blows a call.
I will Co-Sign With Chip Caray
Gotta Stop Reyes and Blow-tran (Castillo doesn’t worry me)a Like we did Rollins and Vic last Series if we are gonna have a chance
May 11th, 20097:29 pm
Bobby will get thrown out of the game tonight..mark my words
Ball 1 and ball 2 to Castillo were more of a strike than Kotchman’s strike 3.
Clayton it wasnt funny the first time you wrote it and it wasnt funny the 2nd time. Move on…
May 11th, 20097:30 pm
Nice going Lowe get Santana right back out there
Very efficient 1st inning for Lowe…like the way this one has started
May 11th, 20097:31 pm
Lowe having a few words with Gibson at the end of that inning. Nice DP.
Nice DP…I think D. Lowe’s Sinker is gonna Be in Full effect tonight…
Given the Parks Dimensions, and Its cold out there…I D-lo can be efficient with his pitches there is no reason why he can’t go beyond seven innings
May 11th, 20097:32 pm
Whoever invented the word “coward”, didn’t know they were inventing it for Mutt fans. MAN, where are the trolls right now that were all over the place these last few days?
You’re right about that call. It was a terrible call. I know umpires get it right 99.9% of the time, but that was one of the .1% of the time.
May 11th, 20097:33 pm
Kris Medlen is on quite a roll with the G-Braves. He threw 6-2/3 innings of two-hit ball with six strikeouts tonight in a 4-0 win against Durham, now he’s 5-0 with an 0.96 ERA in six starts and one relief appearance. Dude hasn’t allowed a run in his past 20 innings.
Boy, Jeff has that LOOOOOOONG swing that resembles ‘08.
TnBrian they were here 30 min ago…where did they go
Is this the longest Bobby has gone to start a season without getting thrown out? What is his longest streak of non-tosses?
Macon Braves (RIP)
Did anyone not see that K by Frenchy coming?
May 11th, 20097:34 pm
This kid doesn’t stand a chance
May 11th, 20097:35 pm
Tough decision on which channel to watch the game on…ESPN announcers suck, but I can’t stand Chip Caray either (wish Boog was in the booth with Joe). But HD rules so I guess I’ll suffer with the ESPN guys
Say what you will about K-fer, he has more patience at the plate than 2/3 of the regular lineup.
Jordan, Do Something…! He Makes us Miss Ryan Langerhans…
I’d wish Schafer try to hit the ball to the opposite field
Glad he has walked a wonder where his numbers would be
May 11th, 20097:36 pm
Interesting comments from Keith Hernandez (you can’t teach an old dog new tricks) and play by play announcer (Jeff Francoeur has gone back to his old habits of swinging at EVERYTHING) about JF.
.223 and falling
Well, Schafer did foul off a lot of high fastball there and made Santana work. That’s at least a little encouraging.
RHR, good point about K-Fer…
Santana is gonna love toying with Francouer, Schafer, and Lowe at the bottom of our order tonight.
Franceour is being too aggresive. He is averaging is dropping, and he is not making the pitchers work. Jordan Schafer has too big a swing. He can’t hit the fastball on the middle of the plate.
May 11th, 20097:37 pm
From my story that should be up soon if it’s not already:
Jones has played fewer than 140 games for the past five consecutive seasons. With 25 games played of 31 team games before Monday, he was on pace to play 130 games this season.
“It is what it is,” said Jones, 37. “I’m getting old. Stuff hurts more.” (DOB)
by the time he was Chipper’s age, Eddie Matthews had suffered through 5 mediocre years in a row(137,134,101,36,31 GP and a .240 or so overall BA) and was already retired. That’s life when you ain’t doin’ roids.
Man, most of our starting pitchers have better hitting approach than JF
How can I do a strikethrough through Lowe’s name?
May 11th, 20097:38 pm
It seems like a good time to call up Medlen to piggy-back with a starter and save the bullpen for a night. We’ve really been cashing the back end of it lately.
D-Lo – “professional hitter”
44 pitches through 2 innings for Santana. That’s the way to do it boys… wear him down.
Cricket he certainly looks like a fan came that out of the stands and tried to hit sometimes. The only difference is the uniform.
