Sorry guys, but I just have to comment on how Bobby once again has mismanaged this game….

Should have taken out JoJo for Buddy (who does throw strikes) after we got the 2 runs back and got into the game but no, we leave JoJo in to give up a HR to a guy who only hits off the Braves AND God only knows what he’ll do this inning.

“I really thought JoJo showed some promise last year.”

He’s showed some promise tonight. A couple of HR against the Phils in that stadium is not the end of the world. He had some very bad luck (and made a bad defensive play) in the 2nd.

I’m not saying all is well, but some of you guys are way over-reacting. Jo-Jo has talent, is young, and needs to learn to win. Maybe he never will, but it’s too early to make that call.

Philly Phan, not that i’m rooting for it and God knows its come awfully close to it this season, but all it takes is badly placed line drive up the midlle and you guys will become a joke. Cole Hamels is your only legit starter. By the way, I see you picked a very easy time to brag. Your number 1 on the mound against our number 5. I’m not a gambler, but I don’t know how many people were betting on Jojo Reyes to outpitch Cole Hamels. I can tell you I wasn’t.

Didn’t they say people will love Schafer for being such a good player with great speed? Well I hate the kid. He strikes out so much and he is never on base to steal any bases. I never see him bunt for a hit. I mean he does, but not often enough. She has the speed and he is a lefty, why not try to bunt way more often? Maybe this will make pitchers change the way they pitch to him. Right now we have two majoy holes in our lineup, him and the pitcher spot. I hope the next time the opposing team uses a righthanded started Kelly will play 2B and Omar will be in CF. I would be pissed, if I was Kelly. He struggles yes, but whats Schafer doing?

Jojo is not in our long term plan…..Schafer is a frickin rookie…..and Chipper had played in 16 straight games before he got an off day yesterday because the game started at 12 after a night game.

We have far better pitchers in the minors but the Braves don’t want to rush them. By no means am I telling you we are going to win anything this year, but in the long run don’t expect to see Jojo on this team.

its easy to give up homers to the phillies in this ballpark.. none of these home runs have had ANYTHING to do with this ballpark. They may have all left the polo grounds. we arent talkin about cheapies. Theyre hitting bombs.

Doom and gloom is back. 162 games people. You should be happy for JoJo struggles. The more he struggles, the sooner you see Hanson. Although, I think Morton is next. They don’t want to call up Hanson and then send him back down when (and if) Glavine is ready. I definitely don’t think we will see Hanson until we find out for sure what’s up with Glavine.

I hope I am wrong. No sense in not getting the kid in here and see what he can do.

Mike

May 8th, 2009
8:26 pm

Jo Jo is either striking guys out, serving up homers, or committing stupid errors. On the error by the way, we did get a little screwed on that. Hamels should have been called for interference. Plus it looked like Hamels foot grazed the ball as he was running past it, causing it to stay fair longer. We did get hosed on that play, but Jo Jo is still an idiot and he cant cut it at this level.

bravos2249

Of course Jo Jo is still pitching. You pretty much have no shot at winning this game. Why burn your bullpen? If anything, bring in Frenchy. Seriously, he can throw 95 -97 mph. He hit me with a fastball in the knee in minor league (11-12 yrs old) All-Star practice. You could see the implant from the seams for like a week. It hurt, to say the least.

JJ? Jair is our best starting pitcher know your stuff….and besides Jojo wasn’t suppose to be on this team. The frickin FO doesn’t want to call up Hansen. That’s their problem. Vazquez is fine. I don’t think we’ll see Hanson until some time in June. We’ve come this far without blowing his Super-2 status… hard to see calling him up now and giving up a year of arbitration. I don’t think that was a big factor in March, but at this point, it wouldn’t really make sense.

You have to be able to see the big picture. Jo-Jo is doing a good job eating innings at this point. Hamels is there best pitcher. Maybe we can get to their pen. Either way…still have a chance to win the series and they don’t have any more great pitchers. McCann is back and already has more RBIs than Kotchman has had in the last 10 games for the Braves.

Mitchell

May 8th, 2009

If Schafer has any thought going through his head when he steps to the plate it should be a) bunt for a hit, b) try to make contact, c) do not try to hit a homerun which is what he looks like he’s trying to do every time, e) if you know you can’t hit the ball high and inside don’t swing at it cause that’s all they’re doing and you clearly cannot hit it, in other words, stop swinging if you’re missing!, and d) do not hit the ball in the air!

For the love of god. He is too fast not to try any way he can to put the ball in play. I’m sorry, he is arrogant. He hit two homeruns and he thinks he’s Ryan Howard.

Josh Anderson is not an all-star by any means but he’s a smart player. He makes the most of what he has and he actually does have some power. He proved his worth at the end of the season. It’s not to say that Schafer can’t learn from this maybe, probably not but you know what you were getting from Anderson. We’d be better off with him than without him.

Davies, James and Ramirez had like an avg of 3 yrs to prove it in the majors and then they were gone. They also didn’t have anyone behind them knocking on the door. Jojo does though. It probably won’t be Hansen coming up, but if the Braves don’t change something with the 5th spot, then they are stupid. Whether it be moving Parr or Buddy from the Pen or calling up Morton. Whether they have a high era or not it’s the fact of not giving up the long ball and having the mental abilities to get through the game.

Cameron

May 8th, 2009
8:32 pm

Vazquez can’t be relied upon…please he had one bad inning in both games. What did he strike out? 12 and 10? He will be fine.

Kawakami can still turn it around. He showed us some mettle the other night. Maybe he turns a corner.

Starter number 5 absolutely cannot be relied upon. But, Glavine is reliable if he is healthy. If he is not, we will see Hanson. Who knows if he will be reliable. He will definitely give us a lift and strike guys out. Anything beyond that is anybody’s guess.
