BTW–McCann’s AVG with RISP is .400!
May 8th, 20098:20 pm
Sorry guys, but I just have to comment on how Bobby once again has mismanaged this game….
Should have taken out JoJo for Buddy (who does throw strikes) after we got the 2 runs back and got into the game but no, we leave JoJo in to give up a HR to a guy who only hits off the Braves AND God only knows what he’ll do this inning.
For once, I agree with a Phillies fan–the Braves suck.
at least we can overcome all those issues. you guys can’t do that. you guys are done tonight. and 3rd game for sure (KK) another joke.
May 8th, 20098:21 pm
Just to note….Before Bobby gave Chipper the off day yesterday..Chipper had played in 16 straight games….but the Braves had off days in there.
“I really thought JoJo showed some promise last year.”
He’s showed some promise tonight. A couple of HR against the Phils in that stadium is not the end of the world. He had some very bad luck (and made a bad defensive play) in the 2nd.
I’m not saying all is well, but some of you guys are way over-reacting. Jo-Jo has talent, is young, and needs to learn to win. Maybe he never will, but it’s too early to make that call.
MFin04 (The Hopeless Romantic)
I give up with logical talk to people during games, lol.
they show no heart.
Philly Phan, not that i’m rooting for it and God knows its come awfully close to it this season, but all it takes is badly placed line drive up the midlle and you guys will become a joke. Cole Hamels is your only legit starter. By the way, I see you picked a very easy time to brag. Your number 1 on the mound against our number 5. I’m not a gambler, but I don’t know how many people were betting on Jojo Reyes to outpitch Cole Hamels. I can tell you I wasn’t.

just have to laugh at Bobby Cox
bye bye JoBlo. Finish the game and pack your bags
Lol, and Chase Utley just hits one 580ft.
This Is Embarassing, Why Is he still out there Getting Punked?
well, this games over. If JoJo ever had any trade value after his last start, its gone now.
Didn’t they say people will love Schafer for being such a good player with great speed? Well I hate the kid. He strikes out so much and he is never on base to steal any bases. I never see him bunt for a hit. I mean he does, but not often enough. She has the speed and he is a lefty, why not try to bunt way more often? Maybe this will make pitchers change the way they pitch to him. Right now we have two majoy holes in our lineup, him and the pitcher spot. I hope the next time the opposing team uses a righthanded started Kelly will play 2B and Omar will be in CF. I would be pissed, if I was Kelly. He struggles yes, but whats Schafer doing?
Well, any confidence that Jojo has is gone now. Wow!!!
May 8th, 20098:23 pm
This team against the Phillies always seem to lose because of a bulpen meltdown, or some stupid errors in which the Phillies always capitalize.
how much does he have to suck to get pulled. I could serve up homers this good…….AND HE IS STILL PITCHING?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?
Well, there you have it…as stated in my 8:20 post…
The old man strikes again!
Wow Bobby, I think JoJo is and has been done for awhile…
Can we all agree on this…that we don’t want to see JoJo pitching in NY on Wednesday?
Jojo is not in our long term plan…..Schafer is a frickin rookie…..and Chipper had played in 16 straight games before he got an off day yesterday because the game started at 12 after a night game.
We have far better pitchers in the minors but the Braves don’t want to rush them. By no means am I telling you we are going to win anything this year, but in the long run don’t expect to see Jojo on this team.
May 8th, 20098:24 pm
this shows who we are and who you are. you might beat a rookie marlin pitcher and an injured anibal sanchez. but never a good ball club.
Wow, do you guys also go and brag on the Nationals blog. I mean you’re talking junk about a team that finished 4th last year. I’m sorry you feel challenged by us. I mean, did we do that all those years that we beat the crap out of you?
I’ve said it with Kawakami, now I’ll say it with Reyes…. Why does it take Bobby so long to realize it isn’t working? And I’m not talking about the specific game they are pitching, I am talking about overall. How much do we have to endure?
its easy to give up homers to the phillies in this ballpark.. none of these home runs have had ANYTHING to do with this ballpark. They may have all left the polo grounds. we arent talkin about cheapies. Theyre hitting bombs.
May 8th, 20098:25 pm
Even without those 4 Unearned runs it would still be 4-2.
Wow that was an impressive homer. Is jo-jo Reyes the new Chuck James.
Doom and gloom is back. 162 games people. You should be happy for JoJo struggles. The more he struggles, the sooner you see Hanson. Although, I think Morton is next. They don’t want to call up Hanson and then send him back down when (and if) Glavine is ready. I definitely don’t think we will see Hanson until we find out for sure what’s up with Glavine.
I hope I am wrong. No sense in not getting the kid in here and see what he can do.
May 8th, 20098:26 pm
Jo Jo is either striking guys out, serving up homers, or committing stupid errors. On the error by the way, we did get a little screwed on that. Hamels should have been called for interference. Plus it looked like Hamels foot grazed the ball as he was running past it, causing it to stay fair longer. We did get hosed on that play, but Jo Jo is still an idiot and he cant cut it at this level.
These homers haven’t had anything to do with good hitting, it’s had to do with BAD PITCHING.
bravos2249…but, all I hear from Braves fans is that your starting pitching is your strength, but now it pretty much looks like Vazquez, JJ, and starter #5 can’t be relied upon.
May 8th, 20098:27 pm
Whoops, meant KK. I’ll admit JJ is a stud.
Get rid of JoJo and spank Escabar. I think our shortstop kinda plays with his head up his behind. We need to bring up the pitcher from AAA.
Bobby must have a lot of Phillie’s on his fantasy team. That’s the only explanation.
Yeah philly phan, and you’re beating up on a guy who isn’t even a number one on our triple a team. Bravo Phillies, Bravo.
Bye Bye Jo Jo… hello Mr. Tommy Hanson.
May 8th, 20098:28 pm
i’m glad you think that way, but jo jo will be there for a while, he has been there for a while, with diferent name, horacio, kyle davies, chuck james, and will be there for a while and his name will be KENSHIN KAWAKAMI….. reallity.
sucks to be a brave fan..
Of course Jo Jo is still pitching. You pretty much have no shot at winning this game. Why burn your bullpen? If anything, bring in Frenchy. Seriously, he can throw 95 -97 mph. He hit me with a fastball in the knee in minor league (11-12 yrs old) All-Star practice. You could see the implant from the seams for like a week. It hurt, to say the least.
May 8th, 20098:29 pm
JJ? Jair is our best starting pitcher know your stuff….and besides Jojo wasn’t suppose to be on this team. The frickin FO doesn’t want to call up Hansen. That’s their problem. Vazquez is fine. He is a number 3 pitcher. The number 5 spot is not very good but I’d still take our rotation over yours or the phillies anyday top to bottom.
Jo Jo – just him in the head – that’s better than right flippin’ field!
I laughed a solid minute at this comment, Smyrna Jim.
McFann – thanks for sharing your pix. Glad you got to meet your mann.
Didnt we beat you 2 out of 3 to start the season??? Yes we did shut your face you troll
7 words for ya: Joe Blanton, Jamie Moyer, Chan Ho Park
Sucks to be a Phillies fan.
If we had that lineup, we would be leading the division by ten games. Not two games ahead of the Braves.
I don’t think we’ll see Hanson until some time in June. We’ve come this far without blowing his Super-2 status… hard to see calling him up now and giving up a year of arbitration. I don’t think that was a big factor in March, but at this point, it wouldn’t really make sense.
“Didn’t they say people will love Schafer for being such a good player with great speed? Well I hate the kid.”
LOL, That’s kind of harsh ain’t it…?
Agreed though, he is killing us in that 8 hole
bravos2249–did you see what I wrote right after that? Easy, killer….
Why keep Jo-jo Reyes when Kris Medlen, Todd Redmond, and Tommy Hanson are begging for a chance with their lights out perfomances in AAA, and clearly Jo-jo Reyes isn’t major league material. Release him trade him, send him back to triple A.
May 8th, 20098:30 pm
may be the braves are scared of playing infront of more than 1000 fans.
May 8th, 20098:31 pm
You have to be able to see the big picture. Jo-Jo is doing a good job eating innings at this point. Hamels is there best pitcher. Maybe we can get to their pen. Either way…still have a chance to win the series and they don’t have any more great pitchers. McCann is back and already has more RBIs than Kotchman has had in the last 10 games for the Braves.
If Schafer has any thought going through his head when he steps to the plate it should be a) bunt for a hit, b) try to make contact, c) do not try to hit a homerun which is what he looks like he’s trying to do every time, e) if you know you can’t hit the ball high and inside don’t swing at it cause that’s all they’re doing and you clearly cannot hit it, in other words, stop swinging if you’re missing!, and d) do not hit the ball in the air!
For the love of god. He is too fast not to try any way he can to put the ball in play. I’m sorry, he is arrogant. He hit two homeruns and he thinks he’s Ryan Howard.
Josh Anderson is not an all-star by any means but he’s a smart player. He makes the most of what he has and he actually does have some power. He proved his worth at the end of the season. It’s not to say that Schafer can’t learn from this maybe, probably not but you know what you were getting from Anderson. We’d be better off with him than without him.
May 8th, 20098:32 pm
Braves era vs the phillies in the last 7 inn.= 21.85 17 runs in 7 innings NOW THATS FUNNY(TBS)
Davies, James and Ramirez had like an avg of 3 yrs to prove it in the majors and then they were gone. They also didn’t have anyone behind them knocking on the door. Jojo does though. It probably won’t be Hansen coming up, but if the Braves don’t change something with the 5th spot, then they are stupid. Whether it be moving Parr or Buddy from the Pen or calling up Morton. Whether they have a high era or not it’s the fact of not giving up the long ball and having the mental abilities to get through the game.
Vazquez can’t be relied upon…please he had one bad inning in both games. What did he strike out? 12 and 10? He will be fine.
Kawakami can still turn it around. He showed us some mettle the other night. Maybe he turns a corner.
Starter number 5 absolutely cannot be relied upon. But, Glavine is reliable if he is healthy. If he is not, we will see Hanson. Who knows if he will be reliable. He will definitely give us a lift and strike guys out. Anything beyond that is anybody’s guess.
May 8th, 20098:33 pm
Braveheart….congratulations on misspelling four out of the five pitchers’ names you just mentioned. You got Lowe right, but you had to shorten the first name to D.
Look! It’s Marietta Derek!
Get it all out now Philly Phan because everybody knows you’re not repeating. You know it too, that’s why you’re talking your junk. Good pitching beats good offense any day. Your offense is great, but they can get shutdown just like everybody else by good pitching. See your performance agianst the Mets. You are beating up on JOJO REYES. Reality check please.
May 8th, 20098:34 pm
Chipper and Ryan Howard thought that was pretty darn funny, lol
If that fan can bunt, the Braves can use him.
Dude’s got wheels.
you guys are not even clos
Marietta Derek get off the field!!!!! That is SO not DPTC!
May 8th, 20098:35 pm
Who do you think you are??? Trying to sneak under the radar. I dont think so shooter you are rotation is just as bad as philly. After Johan you have nothin…
We already took two from your scrub team. Your pitching is way worse than ours. Your team really is just a bunch of losers and you know that. Your starters era is something like 6 or 7. You’re not going to be able to out slug everyone. The sorry Mets just took 2 in a row from you. YOUR TEAM SUCKS.
If Jurrjens was pitching we’d have this game locked up.
I hope Hamels loses it after that. Probably not.
May 8th, 20098:36 pm
come on garrett.
May 8th, 20098:37 pm
MariettaDerek..thats funny ish people. Comedic gold
Schafer’s Wafers: “I dont think so shooter you are rotation is just as bad as philly”
Can someone translate please? I went to school.
hanson is going to get rocked too, this is not AAA. i want to see him agains the PHILLIEEEES. WORLS CHAMPSS.
No one here really cares….as long as we finish better than we did last year it’s a success and we still have good players for next year.
May 8th, 20098:38 pm
“Loaf” leggin one out. Leave the man alone
maccan great at bat.
May 8th, 20098:39 pm
Guys I tried to get in the game but Bobby said I cant not yet. I showed up anyway and was trying to get into the bullpen and security tackled me. Moylan was shoutin June 1st ta heck with june 1st. Please tell Bobby to send bail its $1000.
Game Over! It’s Funny That I got more excitement watch the fan run onto the field than the performance of the AAA Braves…
philly phan get outta here… if the phillies are so good, why are they only 2 up on us? and 1 on the mets?
Schafer has struck out 40% of his plate appearances.
May 8th, 20098:40 pm
you have Johan Santana and then crap afterwards. And I haven’t heard of anyone waiting in the minors.
Philidelphia has Cole hamels and crap afterwards. Everyone is old and I also haven’t heard of anyone dominating in the minors.
you guys will finish better 71-91 4th place still .lol
the real Andy
i get very very frustrated with Jo-Jo too, and i think for now we can do better. but i do have to make the point – Greg Maddux’s first 36 games, 8-18, 5.50 something ERA. I’m not predicting 350 career wins for Jo-Jo (or maybe even 50), but writing a young guy off after his first 36 or so games might not always be the wisest choice.
You guys have Brett Myers going on Sunday and you think that’s an automatic win? I can see why you would know tonight was one but Sunday looks pretty even to me. Now one game I will tell you to make sure you catch up on…even though you seem to hate our offense. Lowe vs Santana on Monday night.
May 8th, 20098:41 pm
Matt – because up until now, the Mets and Phillies have been underperforming. The Braves, however, are pretty much playing to their level.
Run Heap Run–
You’re welcome! I was glad, too…
Dude…that stinks. Well, better luck next AB. Still say they shoulda scored that hit a double…
I think Parr should be in the rotation
No class, No common sense. Typical Philly fan. Who knew one game against the “lowly” Braves would inspire so much confidence from you.
parr WOW that’s an ace. who is next campillo?
lol … someone once said Schafer will win Rookie Of The Year. WOW!!! How wrong he proofed us.
Is sunday’s game really a 9:40 first pitch? my lord that is early
May 8th, 20098:42 pm
Tomahawkin, If these Braves played this way in AAA, they’d be shipped down to Pearl, MS
Looks like a troll is using my moniker. Whatever. Have it dude.
May 8th, 20098:43 pm
So, speaking of young pitching, who do you guys think will have the most potential in their young guns? Braves, Marlins or Nats?
Nats have Jordan Zimmerman and Stephen Strasburg (soon enough). That honestly scares me a little bit a few years down the road.
This is only like the 5th time the Braves have had Anderson AND McCann in the lineup with Chipper. And surprise surprise Chipper has played the most games out of the three.
CHIP CARRY....the biggest joke in all of baseball
i would make jo jo go the entire game. it would only be eight since we couldnt come back on a high school team….
Jake W. – One game against the Braves inspires confidence in EVERYONE.
Uhh I guess for you? It’s on TBS
What happened to the Garrett Anderson who got the game winning hit in game 7 of the 2002 world series?
He doesn’t look like he wants to play for this team.
And say what you will about Braves fans but we don’t boo our players like a bunch of deadbeats or throw batteries as Philadelphians are want to do and we don’t run onto the field like a bunch of bi-polar manic sociopaths.
May 8th, 20098:44 pm
jake peavy?? sorry jake w.
is just amaizing how bad of a team you guys have, no run, no power, no pitching, no bullpen, no fans.
underperforming?? you have pathetic rotations, easy as that. How’s oliver perez doing?? our starting catcher hasn’t played in weeks until tonight, our LF is just coming back, what do you mean playing to their level? When they are healthy they are every bit as decent as the rest of this division.
Chipper is still in? I’m shocked..
Some advice to my fellow bloggers. Its obvious Philly Phan lacks common sense. No more arguing with 5 year olds. We’re above that.
metsfan. you are correct.
It’s also apparently on FS South…not sure if that was the time of the first pitch or the start of coverage
May 8th, 20098:45 pm
bravos – do you really think Anderson is a difference maker? He looks like he has to be forced to come to the ballpark every night. And waiting for Chipper to get hurt is like ordering food in a fine restaurant–it might take a little while, but when it comes, you know it’ll be memorable.
May 8th, 20098:46 pm
cairo will hit a home run
should someone point out to phillie phan that his team’s starting staff has the highest ERA in the national league?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
