Chipper breaks up no-no and extends his hitting streak to 28 games against Phils
Whoever it is still owns that title, good job by Chipper to finally put up a hit. And keep up his streak
May 8th, 20098:02 pm
Mac homer would be nice.
Man Chipper ran as if he had a piano on his back!
go garret, kill the ball!!!!!!!!
Cole Hamel's Glove
We won’t know how close Hamels is to being back 100% until his next start. This game won’t be a good gauge simply because as the name suggests….. all the Phils have to do is throw Hamels’ glove out there against the Braves and it’s a win!
The 3rd out
May 8th, 20098:03 pm
I like to wait until the braves get runners on base then I like to show up. LOLOLOL
the real Andy
can only “watch” via gamecast, so i’m wondering how with two outs Chipper doesn’t score on a double to deep right center. what happened?
mcann looks like me. same body.
Ever since he poped him hammy in Florida last year I cringe watching him beat out an infield hit.
If this isn’t a call for help for Tommy Hanson, then what will it be, the 5.85 carrer ERA, the 5.81 ERA he had last year, the fact that he has gone winless since last year because everytime he is given a lead he blows it by his damn walks or giving up long balls, and making errors. Maybe it’s the combined ERA of 5.77 of Kawakami and Reyes.
At least demote Reyes and activate Campillo.

Garrett Anderson has a nice swing when he connects. Hopefully his return will help this offense.
I hear Hamels’ sweat can be used as a fertilizer to cure world hunger.
Thanks for coming back, four-eyes (I wear glasses, I can say that!).
I just tuned in and see that the little league Braves are in Phillie tonight.
welcome back mac!
Rob from SC
good to have MAC back
It was a good carom off the wall and relay he would have been out
Yay. Way to go, Mac.
Finally McCann is back.
HEAP! LOAF! CHIPPER!
All it took was for me to start watching.
Chips Is A Dummy!
It wasn’t a double, you dummy!
MFin04 (The Hopeless Romantic)
We have ourselves a ball game, nice play by McCann…worst right field throw I have ever seen.
May 8th, 20098:05 pm
oppps, sorry i gave it away
McCann!! He looks very comfortable at plate.
There We Go B-Macc! Never say die, unlike a majority of the team
And Jeff completely kills the Rally on the first pitch.
Wtf were you thinking.
atta boy Mac!
There you go McFann!!!!!
What the hell was that Frenchy. First pitch…again? That killed the rally.
May 8th, 20098:06 pm
3 more runs this inning.
Oh look, another first-pitch Stenchy out.
What’s his OBP now? .300? Same ole Stenchy!
Gotta love the Italian restaurant music playing over the PA. Before Alice Cooper anyway…
You would have thought that Chip’s call the other night when Chipper flied out to end the game against the Mets was a drive to the warning track instead of a weak fister to medium right center field

Considering how close you are in right field in that little league park, a throw home should not be that hard. I’ll take it though.
There’s a reason he hasn’t won a game in over a year.
He can’t pitch. If you give up one run in 7 or however many innings and then completely lose control in three other games you can’t make it at this level. That one game doesn’t make up for it.
May 8th, 20098:08 pm
Send Jo Jo to triple A now
Hurry it up Glavine, we need you
Get Jo-Jo Out NOW!!!
Good god get him out of there NOW!
Error or not by Escobar…Jojo still SUCKS!
Well at least they got 2 runs back. Thank you Brian. But this game should be 2-2 if the Braves would have made one of two plays in the second inning.
Ok Bobby defenders……let’s hear the logic for leaving this joker in the game?
I suck at hitting, but I might be able to hit Jo Jo
Well..I was expecting nothing less from JoJo. But it’s good to see our lineup intact and to have McCann back. Coste always kills us.
And ladies and gentlemen, Garrett Anderson can stroke.
Isn’t Coste hitting like .150?
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! jo-jo sucks…get rid of his worthless ass. Pull him!!!!!!!!
May 8th, 20098:09 pm
Don’t take him out. I want him to throw 130 pitches.
This is his last game for the Braves as far as I’m concerned.
Send JoBlo down
When will we learn how to pitch this guy. He’s just like Diaz, you jam him if you pitch him inside.
It really looks like Jo Jo Reyes’ future is as a lefty out of the bullpen. They guy has major troubles with righties, but pretty good against lefties. Why not put him in the bullpen????????
HAHA!! I did it again!! He did hit an RBI double! YES!!
May 8th, 20098:10 pm
That’s right JoJo, take whatever momentum we were brewing and give it right back to ‘em.
Hey! They didn’t score that a double! Doggone it…
CHips a dummy, the bullpen is getting ready. He’s out of the game either before this inning ends (if he gives up a hit or walk) or at the start of the next one.
May 8th, 20098:11 pm
Chris Coste………..Down in the middle of the plate.
It really is nice to have Mac back
HoHO santa claus is very giving today! Happy Holidays
he pitched well, but the umpire made a bad call, but i think jo-jo did good job. he’s fastball was great and change up was very good.he’ll be fine i’m not worried. gi-gi is good
May 8th, 20098:12 pm
JoJo’s trade value diminishing with every inning.
Lets play the homerun or strikeout game.
Jo Jo Reyes has had enough chances. For the love of God why do we keep trotting this loser out there. He has had one god outing in 12 starts!! His ERA is now over 8. Again. With Medlen, Hanson, Morton etc. what are we doing?
People can blame Escobar…And we have blamed Kelly before…But how many of our other starting pitchers would have got out of the 2nd inning without allowing a run?
Man This team looks like little leaguers when it comes to watching them on defense. I get flashbacks of the scenes from Major League when I see these guys field
Hey DOB, what do you really envision happening after this debacle from Reyes? Do you think that this could be the door opening that we and TH are waiting for? Or, will they be waiting for TG to return instead?
any one of our starters at AAA exceot for Gamble is better than Jo Jo and Kawakami (I don’t like him either)
May 8th, 20098:13 pm
nice effort tonight, frenchy and gigi reyes were great
Daybed Wagmoe?? JoJo had a trade value? Funny 1
Maybe the tape Chipper has in his bad finger is causing him to make bad throws. He never seems to have a good grip on the ball.
No reason to pull Jo-Jo unless you think we can score 5 runs against Hamels/Lidge. Anyone think we can score 5 runs against them? Didn’t think so, no reason to pull him, he is pitching half way decent.
Why can’t we just put Parr back in the rotation and Jojo in the pen?
May 8th, 20098:14 pm
Pull him and trade him before he loses all his trade value.
Who’s ready for this Kelly Johnson pinch-hit laser
Not a bad idea Wolfman. I think he’d be a pretty good situational lefty. He has the stuff. But mentally I don’t know if I want to bring Jojo in, in the middle of a jam. He might escalate it.
May 8th, 20098:15 pm
you braves are a joke!!!!
The homers he’s giving up are to players in the bottom of the lineup and he’s pitching good to the stars. That’s not how you pitch. You pitch your best stuff to everyone.
May 8th, 20098:16 pm
I wouldn’t burn a PH here. It’s too early and nothing going on, with 2 out….
Good call, Bobby.
Now pinch-hitting..for himself..JoJo Reyes
BREAKING NEWS ---JO JO REYES HAS S.A.A.D.S.
AP- It has been discovered that Jo Jo Reyes has been diagnosed with S.A.A.D.S. (SWING AND A DRIVE SYNDROM). The only cure is to not ever ever ever ever ever ever pitch again.
Jo Jo still in? I’m a little confused. Of course they might just be saving the bench.
jo jo can’t pitch
schafer can’t hit
chipper can’t play more than 12 games in a row
May 8th, 20098:17 pm
Is Bobby waving the white flag – save the bullpen in a lost cause?
Good point in not burning a PH BUT the Braves do lead like the World in 2 out runs.
on a different note, I am reading a great book on Walter O’Malley and moving the Dodgers if anyone is interested
Give up on Hanson for the time being. They are not going to bring him up and then have Glavine come back and put him in the bullpen or send him back. When they bring him up they intend to give him every chance to stay in the rotation and the the bigs.
So stop. Please note the JoJo is being caught by McCann and he is throwing a ton of breaking balls compared to his other starts. Not sure why he is not throwing the fastball but the is what it looks like.
Mcdowell should have talked to JoJo before Hammels came up.
Did you notice that can’t hit the ball out of here this year? Might just be me.
Jo Jo actually is a decent hitter (for a pitcher) no reason to waste a guy off the bench
12 games in a row?
Bit of a stretch. I’d say 6 or 7
On the other hand, Jo Jo is still eligible for the win if we come back.
This is the third game of the damn road trip. We don’t need to have the damn bullpen go six innings.
Make him go five at least.
I really thought JoJo showed some promise last year. That error by Yunel was unacceptable but you have to throw strikes to the pitcher. If you have the pitcher up with the bases loaded you cannot give him the advantage like that.
I don’t think it makes any sense to take him out now. It’s a waste.
Chris from the Rock
May 8th, 20098:18 pm
Is it me, or do the Braves have a long history of an inability to get the opposing team’s backup catcher out? Coste, Redmond, etc…
Says the fan whose staring pitcher has only pitched like 4 games…and 2nd baseman didn’t play a game earlier this week…and Has Joe Blanton going tomorrow with a 7+ era.
First off, Werth is a great homerun hitter in this park, and Coste hit one out with no one on, and he was probably just trying to pitch to contact. Take away the stupid 4 runs, and it would be 3-2. You don’t pull your starter when he is still getting guys out and kill your bullpen.
May 8th, 20098:19 pm
great game guys.
