This teams error are going to be death of us, or me. I have never seen this team commit so many errors in the field and on the base paths. This is inexcusable!

Hindsight’s 20-20 and all, but Jo-Jo should have drilled Hamels, who was in the baseline, right in the back.

Anyway, 0 earned, but a terrible blowup by Reyes.

Good for Don Sutton. Just went on a much needed diatribe about how the efforts of people like Chipper, TG, Maddox Smoltz (and Jeter along with others) should not be diminishd by putting people like Bonds, Clemens and McGuire in the Hall.

Sutton basically said too many people don’t have the rocks to say no to juicers when it comes to Hall of Fame votes.

Meanwhile the game goes to hell – unrealted to Don’s well spoken commnets.

Jo-Jo being a dumb@$$ and fielding a ball that is rolling foul when the pitcher is already at first base, what a moron. Should have let it go foul.

Okay…is the Reyes experiment over? I think its time to move on. We stuck with Davies for too long. Lets not make the same mistake with Reyes. He still has some trade value I hope. He just cant handle the pressure of the bigs. He is a AAAA pitcher.

can’t expect to beat the phillies if you give them 5 outs an inning

Those Idiots!

May 8th, 2009
7:42 pm

Are Joe and Chip gonna keep squealing about the call? If I’m not mistaken the rule has nothing to do with making a bad throw. He has to nail the runner inside the line before anything is called! The runner is hit with the throw, he’s out. If not, it’s a no call and just a terrible throw by Jo Jo.

Doesn’t the throw have to hit the runner for interference to be called? I thought that was the rule, but I could be wrong.

Reyes made two mistakes on that play. Should have let it go foul, but once he picked it up should have nailed Hamels in the back. Probably would have gotten the call. If not, at least the ball wouldn’t have gone into the outfield.

Tomas

Hamels is pitching lights out against this weak lineup. I hope the running he was forced to do will knock his concentration a little.

Jo-jo Reyes just cannot pitch in this ballpark especially against this team.

Philly Hater

May 8th, 2009
7:45 pm

Wow, Cole Hamels is a damn cheater. Not only that, but the umpire lets him get away with it, and refuses to get assistance from the 1st base umpire. Then Hamels is shown in the dugout laughing about it. After that, I hope a Braves player hits a line drive and injures that stick figure and while in the process of trying to get to the ball, he tears his hamstring. Screw the Phillies.

I’m not sure it was going foul – it had a weird spin that looked like it might have stayed fair, and you can’t take that chance. That doesn’t excuse what happened next.

Wolfman

How about Schafer gets a minor injury and has to sit or DL? He makes me so mad whenever he is at bat. He cannot touch any above average MLB pitcher. Hurting wrist or not, he is unable to make contact to any fastball above the hands. I bet 90% of his strikeouts are on the same pitch(es). So embarrasing.

did carry really just say that error on yunel was the first hit of the night for philly? he didnt did he?

and poor jo jo. dude does not have the mental toughness it takes to be successful at this level. one little thing goes wrong and he freaks out and all of sudden you are down four…or five…and sometimes 6. that is why you wont see jo jo in the bigs for much longer. dude just does not know how to shake things off. its sad because he has good stuff…. oh well, lets see if the braves can bounce back.

May 8th, 2009

“Jo-Jo might have missed the “Damage Control 101″ class at pitching school….”

And that is why Jo Jo isn’t a quality Major League Pitcher. He’ll tease us with a few good innings and then blow up. He might occasionally throw in a respectable start, but it’s only a mirage. It’s his MO, always has been. At least he blew early tonight. Those aren’t the last runs the Phils are gonna score off Jo Jo.

It’s interesting that Sutton rambled on and on about how the cheaters who took steroids should not be elected to the HOF. Frankly, I agree with him, but didn’t Sutton get caught scuffing and putting foreign substances on the baseball? And isn’t Sutton in the HOF? Even though it’s a different method of cheating, it’s still cheating. It just comes off as being hypocritical.

Our #5 against their #1. If you had to pick a game in this series that we had the best chance of losing, i’d say it be this one. Its like the game the other day with the Mets with Johan and the Phils with Park. Not a real shocker here. The Phillies and their good offense pick on sub par pitching but get shutdown by good pitching.
