McFann, I wouldn’t be shocked if it takes McCann a week or two to get his timing down again and he did say adjusting to the glasses won’t be easy, so i wouldn’t expect the Mac from ‘08 right away. Good to have him in there though.

Oramus, KJ has been pretty bad against Hamels. .176 avg in 20 plate appearances. There’s a thousand ways to cut up the lineup, probably, and you could find a way to defend all of ‘em, but the one we’ve got seems reasonable to me.
I think Cox has handled the Braves’ slumping hitting, and the bullpen, pretty well so far this year. Not perfect (IMO), but pretty well.

Except we aren’t running a railroad. We’re running a blog, or baseball team, or baseblog team. An idea like that can catch steam and pull the whole irrate attention span up a hill faster than the little engine that could!
I’d like to see a win tonight. I’d like to think JoJo could do it. But the idea of him “being carefu”l with a hitter, or hitters, sounds like a recipe for a ton of walks and big innings and inevitably a short outing, a big hole and a loss.

McFann, No, I don’t believe that was me. I haven’t been around all week, but I think that the last time I was on, towards the end, I was having trouble with italics. Not getting them, getting rid of them. I quoted a post, put it in italics and then replied. My reply was also italicized. Figuring I screwed up, I did another one. This time I looked it over carefully before I clicked “submit”. It happened again. I believe the next thing I did was to yell, “help me, McFann“.

I find it odd that Johnson has a higher OBP than Francoeur and an OPS near the same and yet Johnson hasn’t started in something like eight of the past twelve games and Francoeur hasn’t missed a start.
This comes on the heels of last year, when Francoeur played in 155 games. Not picking on Francoeur, but how could Cox justify that? Would any other player hitting the same have gotten so many at-bats? I know Johnson would not have if this year is any example.
Cox=favoritism. Might be time for him to go.

To say for sure the Braves will or won’t have momentum tomorrow assumes they will win/lose tonight. We don’t know what will happen. From your post the way you put it sounds as if a “few wins” doesn’t equal “momentum”. But we have no clue if they will have momentum for tomorrow or not because they haven’t played yet tonight. That’s what I’m talking about.

Glavine threw another bullpen today, a long one here in Philly, and by all accounts it went great. No sharp pain and he threw well, according to Roger McDowell and Bobby Cox. Including his warmup tosses, he threw about 90 times in the session.
Glavine was gone before we got here, because he had permission to fly back to Atlanta to be at his kid’s first Communion.

Tom theoretically, I’ll be working tonight during the game. One of my many gigs is scoring tests online, and yesterday I started scoring a 7th grade math test, so, anytime you see me here, I’m shirking my responsibilities (and I get paid per answer scored, so it’s not like being at work and just goofing off).

flange, totally agree about “moving” guys out of position. You’re right, a REAL cleanup hitter would solve it. But….
supes I agree on Chipper, but I’ve lost faith in him staying healthy for a full year, whether it’s at 1B or 3B. But again, I agree that when healthy Chipper is the man. But one could have said that IF Mike Hampton was healthy, he would have been our best pitcher (or Hudson for that matter).
I’ve just resigned to the fact and excepted that Chipper likely won’t play more than 135 (or so) games per year anytime soon. I’d prefer to have McCann not get beat up before he’s 30.
