I didn’t choose it so much for the evilness of it but because it sounded cool.
yeah…too much invested to send to middle relief.
May 8th, 20096:35 pm
McFann, I wouldn’t be shocked if it takes McCann a week or two to get his timing down again and he did say adjusting to the glasses won’t be easy, so i wouldn’t expect the Mac from ‘08 right away. Good to have him in there though.
Hey, Im on top!!
May 8th, 20096:36 pm
DOB – I suspect it did go without saying.
Oramus, KJ has been pretty bad against Hamels. .176 avg in 20 plate appearances. There’s a thousand ways to cut up the lineup, probably, and you could find a way to defend all of ‘em, but the one we’ve got seems reasonable to me.
I think Cox has handled the Braves’ slumping hitting, and the bullpen, pretty well so far this year. Not perfect (IMO), but pretty well.

ncscoots: You would just be exchanging holes, and that’s no way to run a railroad
Except we aren’t running a railroad. We’re running a blog, or baseball team, or baseblog team. An idea like that can catch steam and pull the whole irrate attention span up a hill faster than the little engine that could!
I’d like to see a win tonight. I’d like to think JoJo could do it. But the idea of him “being carefu”l with a hitter, or hitters, sounds like a recipe for a ton of walks and big innings and inevitably a short outing, a big hole and a loss.
I gotta make the diagram for doing bold italics…Tom O’Hawke was asking about that the other day, I think.
McFann, No, I don’t believe that was me. I haven’t been around all week, but I think that the last time I was on, towards the end, I was having trouble with italics. Not getting them, getting rid of them. I quoted a post, put it in italics and then replied. My reply was also italicized. Figuring I screwed up, I did another one. This time I looked it over carefully before I clicked “submit”. It happened again. I believe the next thing I did was to yell, “help me, McFann“.
I find it odd that Johnson has a higher OBP than Francoeur and an OPS near the same and yet Johnson hasn’t started in something like eight of the past twelve games and Francoeur hasn’t missed a start.
This comes on the heels of last year, when Francoeur played in 155 games. Not picking on Francoeur, but how could Cox justify that? Would any other player hitting the same have gotten so many at-bats? I know Johnson would not have if this year is any example.
Cox=favoritism. Might be time for him to go.

The only bad thing about Sunday and Monday are…..the Braves are in Philly this weekend and will be in New York for Monday night’s game and not at home, at Turner Field.
Wayne in Utah

BFIR or Piedmont Blues
Are you still in Carolina? If so, what area?
My mamma keeps asking me when I am moving back. I miss the south, but I love the west. I am definitely torn!
jennifer in GA
damn aint crap to do…

To say for sure the Braves will or won’t have momentum tomorrow assumes they will win/lose tonight. We don’t know what will happen. From your post the way you put it sounds as if a “few wins” doesn’t equal “momentum”. But we have no clue if they will have momentum for tomorrow or not because they haven’t played yet tonight. That’s what I’m talking about.
Yeah, I wouldn’t be too shocked if that happened, either…I’m not expecting the ‘08 Mac right away…maybe something like the ‘05 or ‘07.
But dangit, it feels like forever since he played! Seems much longer than 2 weeks.
OK…maybe it was someone else. Huh…that’s odd about your posts being in all italics. Seems like that happened to some of us one other time, but I can’t remember…
20 minutes…actually, now it’s prob’y more like 30. Bet the game doesn’t really start till 7:10…
May 8th, 20096:44 pm
Going to eat Mexican…catch ya’ll later!!!
Dom Dimaggio had a hitting streak of his own when he played for the Red Sox…..a 34 game hitting streak.
I wonder what was in the Dimaggio blood…(Lol). Joe with the famous 56 game streak….and Dom with his own 34 game streak.
May 8th, 20096:45 pm
btw, not that anyone brought it up (well, some have), but…
Will Ohman: 9 IP; 3 HR allowed; 4 BB; 3 K’s; 5.00 ERA;
Eric O’Flaherty: 10 IP; 0 HR allowed; 1 BB; 4 K’s; 2.70 ERA.
So far, so good on that call.
May 8th, 20096:46 pm
It may take a couple of games, but an encouraging sign last night, roping a double anyway. Feels great to have him back in the lineup, almost like a brand-new start to the season.
May 8th, 20096:47 pm
I noticed you haven’t been around – I also noticed the last post you had was at 4:58 am after posting all night a few days ago after you told me to go to bed at 10:30 – I assume you’ve been asleep since then?
May 8th, 20096:49 pm
Braveheart, Been hangin’ out in North Gwinnett?
miXXo you are so talented! I wish I was but I’m just a warm piece of muffin
May 8th, 20096:53 pm
Glavine threw another bullpen today, a long one here in Philly, and by all accounts it went great. No sharp pain and he threw well, according to Roger McDowell and Bobby Cox. Including his warmup tosses, he threw about 90 times in the session.
Glavine was gone before we got here, because he had permission to fly back to Atlanta to be at his kid’s first Communion.
May 8th, 20096:55 pm
Jim … Yeah, it takes me a little while to recharge myself. Watch out tonight, though. If I remember correctly, you had to work the next day, then tutor someone in math. That’s why I told you to go to bed. Or, maybe I just wanted to be alone with cabravesfan.

Facts? F%$@ ‘em.
Should be the blog motto.
May 8th, 20096:59 pm
Thanks a lot! My name is on lots of albums and I know some real “big-shots of the stage” too, but no biggie, that and tree-fiddy will still only get me a nice cup of coffee in a hotel..
May 8th, 20097:01 pm
Let’s get it on!!!!
Tom theoretically, I’ll be working tonight during the game. One of my many gigs is scoring tests online, and yesterday I started scoring a 7th grade math test, so, anytime you see me here, I’m shirking my responsibilities (and I get paid per answer scored, so it’s not like being at work and just goofing off).
Wonder if Glavine would do rehabs in Gwinett or extended spring training…
Good pitching matchup in Gwinnett tonight–Wade Davis v. Charlie Morton.
For those who are still considering MLB.tv, The past 5 or 6 games have gone well. Great picture quality, no missed innings, proper audio. I have been very satisfied lately.
Looks like the bugs might be worked out.
May 8th, 20097:02 pm
I like muffins ……..too!
May 8th, 20097:03 pm
And BOONE LOGAN didn’t even rate a mention when I scanned his stats at GWINNETT.
May 8th, 20097:06 pm
Hey Smoltz fa….I mean, Braves fans! Just here to keep you guys up on my legendary comeback. Sure, they shut me down for a week, but I already feel ready to go! It’s all a matter of mechanics that get me where I need to go. By the way, I go on Boston TV next week and get more air time than Delta….I LOVE IT!
May 8th, 20097:07 pm
I like muffins ……..too! :love
Me three…especially those Martha White Blueberry kind you make at home…lol
May 8th, 20097:09 pm
Thanks for sharing the pics!
Looks like you had a pretty darn good evening last night.
I got a feeling you are going to have a better one tonight.
I have a feeling Mac is going deep at least once tonight……
Probably because of that last autograph LAST night..
May 8th, 20097:11 pm
How long can they drag out that frickin World Series SHEESH!
May 8th, 20097:12 pm
Jim– That’s an interesting gig. Correct a bit, watch a bit…if you can drink a bit, also, I’m gonna lean on the side of you “goofing off”, a bit.
Somebody willing to provide play by play stuck here at work????
May 8th, 20097:13 pm
Better get on the fastball tonight boys, the changeup is lookin dirty
May 8th, 20097:14 pm
Nice catch in the gap by the big man, Garret Anderson.
flange, totally agree about “moving” guys out of position. You’re right, a REAL cleanup hitter would solve it. But….
supes I agree on Chipper, but I’ve lost faith in him staying healthy for a full year, whether it’s at 1B or 3B. But again, I agree that when healthy Chipper is the man. But one could have said that IF Mike Hampton was healthy, he would have been our best pitcher (or Hudson for that matter).
I’ve just resigned to the fact and excepted that Chipper likely won’t play more than 135 (or so) games per year anytime soon. I’d prefer to have McCann not get beat up before he’s 30.
Schaf Waf .. Rollins lined out to left
May 8th, 20097:15 pm
Sorry Flange, didn’t mean to “yell” at you. Damn blog format.
Victorino lined out to left
JoJo needs a piece of me between innings, fuel to success, cut out that one BIG inning.
May 8th, 20097:16 pm
Get the freeking ball down, jojo.
Yikes! That scared me coming off Victorino’s bat.
No sweat though, GA’s got it covered.
May 8th, 20097:17 pm
Chip carey spewing nonsense no one cares about
Sweet chipper jones close-up at 3rd
struck out utley on a breaking ball
Thanks guys for doing play by play
May 8th, 20097:18 pm
What happened? I blacked out after Anderson made a running catch.
May 8th, 20097:19 pm
wow that was low
May 8th, 20097:20 pm
Nice pitch there, Cole.
May 8th, 20097:21 pm
GA fouls off some pitches and eventually strikes out on a curve i believe
May 8th, 20097:23 pm
Tom Drinking (at least not to excess) is not a big detriment to what I’m doing (but I’ve only had a beer and a little bourbon), and I just prepared dinner, so I can goof off while I eat.
Mac also fouls off a lot of pitches — and lines to ryan howard. nice play
May 8th, 20097:24 pm
Well..no one is lacking in the aggression department thats for sure
May 8th, 20097:25 pm
this game is either gonna be quick or really slow..I can just feel it.
May 8th, 20097:26 pm
That was a positive AB for MAC! He fouled off many pitches.
hamel on his game tonight so far …. may be a tough nite
May 8th, 20097:27 pm
AFraud homers in first AB of the year
Howard strikes out
May 8th, 20097:28 pm
jo-jo will be good for 6 innings. after that he goes down hill, just look at his past starts. cox needs to know that by now
Little swag boost for JoJo right there
Man Jo-Jo Looks good Challenging these hitters so far, very aggressive…
“this game is either gonna be quick or really slow..I can just feel it.” – bravos2249
Wow, that’s a pretty strong intuition you’ve got there. Except for “average in length”, you’ve got it covered!
JoJo’s bringin’ da heat!
Great 1st inning by JoJo…
Once again Escobar proves that i was right about the fact that he should’ve sat tonight…3 straight changeups that he was nowhere near…
Chipper just missed a HR and Mac hit one solid to Howard at 1b, but I was encouraged by his 1st AB back…
Why is it that I feel like Jeff could hit .300 if he didn’t give 1/2 his AB’s away?
So far so good, JoJo just needs to continue to attack the strike zone.
May 8th, 20097:30 pm
you cant walk people jo-jo the phils will make you pay
May 8th, 20097:31 pm
Schafer covering a lot of ground in R-C gap on that catch.
Yeah Joe when i saw him hitting Left handed against a Left hander I thought he was a SH?????
May 8th, 20097:33 pm
Escobar got played on that one.
Yunel, you have to watch those scorching shots!
May 8th, 20097:34 pm
Thats a tough play actually. Lots of spin on that ball. should have knocked it down though
how did escobar make an error? im watching it on gameday
May 8th, 20097:35 pm
well jo-jo has to get the pitcher out.right?
May 8th, 20097:36 pm
C’mon JoJo! It’s the pitcher!
Throw a strike to california boy JoJo come on
THROW A STRIKE
Jo-Jo, Come On WTF! Dumb Baseball!
WOW..let it go foul man
May 8th, 20097:37 pm
You gotta be kidding me!
Very poor play by Reyes. Sheesh.
two walks and two errors. its 2 to 0 phils
Saw that coming.
May 8th, 20097:38 pm
How about the replay?
Rob from SC
Jo Jo sucks
F*ck that umpire, f*cking belligerent as*hole.
May 8th, 20097:39 pm
Jo Jo – just him in the head – that’s better than right flippin’ field!
Don’t matter if he runs 10 feet inside the baseline, Jo Jo needed to nail him in the back for it to be an issue! THEN he’s out!
Jo Jo is just like Vazquez, one bad inning
thats just b.s.
NO MORE JO-JO!
Poor defense by Escobar and JoJo both should’ve made their plays.
Walking the 8th place hitter was exceptionally brilliant.
May 8th, 20097:40 pm
Typical Braves Game against a good team. That was a BS obstruction Non-Call..
Jo-Jo Getting Slapped!
Jo Jo sucks. Time to bring up Medlen or Hanson.
Jo-Jo’s house of horrors, this place.
Get nono reyes out of here, send him back to AAA.
2 rbi double by rollins. 4 to 0 phils. goodnight braves fans
