MIkey-Francoeur only performs when platooned or sits a game? Dude, he’s NEVER been platooned and has played every game this season and has only missed seven games the entire time he’s been up in the majors (and three of those when he was sent down). If you don’t like Frenchy, then fine, but get your facts straight.
@ David O’Brien
“Mac said his glasses worked much better with the old mask today, still some fogging but it was manageable between innings. Said it’s just such a relief to hit without going up there worrying about just trying to see the ball like he did before he went on the DL. The glasses are doing the trick for him in that regard, for sure. He’s not having any problems seeing the ball with them.”
Sorry if this has already been asked and answered, but do you know if Mac was having trouble seeing the ball behind the plate or if it was just while hitting?
May 10th, 200910:40 am
Not to mention that Francoeur has lead the majors in outfield assists since he was called up. Yeah-that’s just doing enough to get by. Kind of like his working out with instructors all winter to get his stroke back. Lazy SOB.

The Lebron to NYC thing is indeed annoying, but waking up hung over, can’t find the remote, and being stuck watching and listening to this goober Joel Osteen is much more annoying.
May 10th, 200911:03 am
You’re welcome! Donn Sutton mentioned you? That’s pretty darn cool!
Yeah, that article about Diaz and Schafer was really good. Love Matty…Glad your wife got to give him the note!
Also sweet you both got to see BMac’s homer (I saw him hit one in person against the Cubs on Sept. 8, 2006). It was funny because right before Blanton threw the 2-1 pitch that Mac hit out, I said, “C’mon, hit a home run for Bruce!” Next pitch: OUTTA HERE!!!
Mac and Shane seemed to be chatting in friendly fashion, noticed that once when he came to the plate and there was a lull.
That’s int’resting. Well, after that collision BMac said they were buddies…ah, man, but that thing still give me the willies. Never watched the replay on the computer or nothin’…haven’t seen it since it happened, and I don’t ever plan to see it again…
May 10th, 200911:05 am
Mc should be the Braves MVP at the end of the season……….this is another team with him on it. Not even chipper absence is felt as much, at least not this season.
May 10th, 200911:09 am
Hey, is Ross really KK personal catcher, or cann KK do without him for one game??
I totally agree. Heck, BMac was our MVP at the end of ‘06, but that sorta goes without saying, I guess…
May 10th, 200911:23 am
Hope that you all get to see or chat with your mother today, but if she’s still not around like you N8, I’m sure you have many fond memories. So Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there and you guys will have to help me out w/ a Braves victory today…
I have 3 softball games and then getting a chance to hang out w/ some of my family before I leave for a business trip to St. Louis…so help me out and give me some great news when I make it to the hotel tonight…
May 10th, 200911:33 am
Kelly leading off, same lineup as yesterday
May 10th, 200911:34 am
1. KJ, 2B
2. Escobar, SS
3. Chipper, 3B
4. G. Anderson, LF
5. Mac, C
6. Kotchman, 1B
7. Francoeur, RF
8. Schafer, CF
9. Kawakami, RH
May 10th, 200911:36 am
Yee-hoo! Thanks for the lineup, Chief!
And Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there!!
May 10th, 200911:37 am
Phils have their lineup stacked with lefties, including Stairs in RF.
Righties have actually hit better against Kawakami than lefties (.321/.409/.589 vs. .275/.362/.529, in just about same number of at-bats)
Alright, gotta get going on new blog if I want to get it up by gametime
May 10th, 200911:38 am
KK = 6 innings /3 runs, 6k/3BB
May 10th, 200911:41 am
I like KK. LIke JoJo I am one of Patience. I think KK gets going in the second half of the season. This a huge change for him. Culture shock if you will. He is a professional, he’ll adjust.
May 10th, 200911:42 am
Stairs? PBTH! Dangit…
Supes, you or uga-brave and anyone else are perfectly free to change your stance every three months about a player, and swing from one extreme to the other with little in-between. Fine by me. Seriously, it doesn’t matter to me. But I’m also free to point it out, like I did with uga-brave. And I will, when I feel like it.
May 10th, 200911:43 am
This just cant be……..Cox is obsessed about KJ………the guy went 1 for 5. Whats the freaking need to bat him 1st? You are automatically the other team 1 out per game, because if there is a hitter that could have 5 plate appearances in a game it is KJ since he is leading of. Second of all, you diminish the chance for chipper and Mc to find runners on base. 3rd, he is a great hitter in the middle of the order, bat him 6th.
4th of all, yunel is the best hitter on the league with RISP, when is he gonna find people in scoring position if KJ is not getting on base nor advancing runners to scoring position?
Right now there is not difference between batting Schafer and KJ leadoff……..why not give it a try (schafer), specially since there is a lot of difference in batting KJ leadoff and 6th.
On the other hand we could try yunel hitting leadoff. Why? Because if the 7th or 8th hitter get on base and the pitcher does them bunting, then you will have yunel hitting and not KJ whom is not driving in anyone.
May 10th, 200911:48 am
DOC, excellent point. I have been on the side on no for Yunie batting leadoff. He’s perfect for the 2 hole because he goes the other way soe well. If you bat KJ 7 or 8 he will produce better. With the pitcher sacrificing; KJ is in scoring position for Yunie to drive him in. Genious. Lead off is overated because it is only one at bat in a game.
By the way, for any one who cares, the new Star Trek movie is actually very good.
May 10th, 200912:17 pm
Joe Simpson batting in 1982 for the Seattle Mariners. This is Gaylord Perry’s 300th win on MLB.TV
May 10th, 200912:21 pm
Agreed on ESCO for leadoff as well…Hopefully we continue to come out and play like we’ve had over the last 5 games…A series win woul be a big boost heading into New York
Our offense will probably be dictated on what kind of day KJ Has at the plate…
I can hear McFann now – “Dang, who is that skinny weenie?”.
And Simpson hits into a DP.
May 10th, 200912:23 pm
Who is set to pitch the Mets series ? I read yesterday that JJ would not be pitching, and tha Lowe would face Santana.
May 10th, 200912:25 pm
I believe JJ is pitching on Tuesday…D Lowe v. Santana on Monday (what a great match up), Jo Jo is set for wednesday
CHIP CARRY....the biggest joke in all of baseball
May 10th, 200912:28 pm
over/under on homers kawakami gives up today in this ballpark?
i say 2….
May 10th, 200912:30 pm
Jason, where did you hear that JJ wouldn’t pitch in the Mets series??
The way the rotation lines up, it should be Lowe, Jurrjens, and JoJo vs. Mets.
May 10th, 200912:33 pm
I might have mis remembered the post. ATL could come away with that series. If Lowe’s sinker is on, neither team might not score until late.
May 10th, 200912:34 pm
On the Over/Under on homers against Kamakaze today…I’m gonna raise ya one and call 3…
I haven’t changed my clothes since yesterday’s win! (same goes for the underwear )
Lets hope it brings another W.
May 10th, 200912:35 pm
oversharing, my friend
May 10th, 200912:36 pm
but if it works…
May 10th, 200912:37 pm
I am going to stay at 2. I have KK going 6 IN with 2 HR 3 BB. The walks are really hurting him.
May 10th, 200912:38 pm
Word of Mouf is that there is a Hard Wind Blowing out to right Today, Any Validity to this D.O.B.?
If So we might have a slugfest on our hands!

Jason-The only problem with Yunel batting second is his proclivity to GIDP-NOT a good trait for a number two hitter. Got to agree with you on the patience, though. Braves’ fans need a bit more of it.
KELLY LEAD OFF WITH A HIT, WTF!
Looks like it’s workin’ so far.
Sometimes ya gotta take one for the team!
May 10th, 200912:42 pm
D.O.B. was right I don’t like the Phillies Little League Uni’s as well
I’d rather see them wear their Blue BP unis…
Anyone listening on the radio? Game is not on WFIS and WGNS
Mixxo-Do you also warn your friends to bring Raid with them?
May 10th, 200912:43 pm
“That one just came up into his kitchen.”
I can still say that this lineup is great. The only change should be the switch between KJ and Schafer. GA hitter 4th and protected by Mc is a very good decision, I love it.
You just got to give it a Try, I mean, how worse can it be to bat Schafer leadoff? Maybe he is more comfortable there.
Uh oh ass whoopin coming up? Good thing it knocked him down. Good for myers that is.
May 10th, 200912:44 pm
I think Yunel just stole a base there
I think we got away with one there. and man does that pink jump out at you in HD.
Aight You Guys We gotta get at least 2 runs to spot for Kamakaze, It would be nice to see him with an early lead…
Esco gets an Oscar! Don’t think that hit him.
Frank from KS
May 10th, 200912:45 pm
The ball didn’t even hit Escobar….it hit the bat.
And gonzo calling his mom “my queen” was great.
Good start, no double plays pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
I guess Yunnel only has a tantrum when he’s actually hit.
May 10th, 200912:46 pm
GA, No DP’S Lets get to Myers!
Lew – fresh case of Fabreze in the foyer!
May 10th, 200912:47 pm
This a totally different team with Mc in the lineup.
Loaf comes through with a sac fly.
Get the run in, at least.
Nice, There We go GA, Good to see a Sac Fly
May 10th, 200912:48 pm
Mac gets caught looking.
May 10th, 200912:49 pm
Think Mac disagreed with that call…
May 10th, 200912:50 pm
Mac was robbed!
Man I was Hoping for at least 2, But At least we didn’t hit into any DP’s
May 10th, 200912:51 pm
Bases loaded w/ no outs and score one run.
Kind of a mediocre ending to an awesome start.
Ha! That wasn’t a strike! And neither was strike one! Hey BMac, lend your other pair of glasses to the ump!
These guys suck. bases loaded, no outs, u get one run.
May 10th, 200912:52 pm
Swing the damn bat, u see the ump has a liberal strike zone, what r u waiting for. This is the big leagues, expand your freakin strike zone.
May 10th, 200912:53 pm
Sorry for delay. NEW BLOG IS UP
One run is better than nothing.
May 10th, 200912:54 pm
Bases loaded no outs and we only score 1. As ugly as it was, myers won that round.
May 10th, 200912:55 pm
The ump hasnt seen a pitch he didnt like, Wow, that was a strike.
May 10th, 200912:56 pm
Rollins & Victorino are hitting a combined .087 against us this year. Hope that holds up.
May 10th, 200912:59 pm
good looking first inning for KK
May 10th, 20091:03 pm
The Braves wont be anything as long as Jeff Francour is an everyday player. 16 pitches in 9 at-bats. He’s a weak link.
May 10th, 20091:07 pm
I am starting to worry that Frenchy is reverting to old form. Tell me I’m wrong. KJ might be starting to heat up. Good approach in the second AB, although it ended with a HBP. KK’s bring the lumber today, also.
I just have one question....
May 10th, 20093:35 pm
where is philly fan now? he was quick to come over here on friday running his mouth about how kawakami sucks and bla bla philly is great. where is that douchebag now???? if he had any balls he would own up to this series loss….again.
May 10th, 20093:42 pm
what a great series win! there is only one problem though….chipper is back to being his old self again. his fragile ways are going to kill this team. as soon as we have mcann and anderson back healthy he has to have a sore elbow. you really have to question his “want to” how could you come out of a one run game on the road against a division rival, especially when the game is so crucial to your team’s success? ill tell you how…you are sissy. he’ll be out for the next two or three games and when he comes back he will have yet another excuse for not succeeding. first it was the thumb and now its a sore elbow. what a joke this guy is. our biggest mistake was going ahead and giving him a contract this past offseason. i said it then and ill say it now….if you dont give him that contract he plays in 140 games this season. now, he will be lucky to see 105. lets pray infante and/or prado step it up. regardless of chipper’s girlie ways this was a truly great win for the braves and lets hope this jump starts a terrific run of great baseball. if we can take two of three from the mets and then get back home against the struggling diamondbacks and rockies we could climb into first…
first thing first….we need to payback the mutts for the two game sweep at turner field.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
