DOB what are the players saying about Schafer? Someone has to be feed up with this kid. Enough is enough.
May 9th, 20094:18 pm
El Cattivo, I haven’t seen that whatsoever. Mercifully, it’s not catching on with anyone except a couple of like-minded folks.
May 9th, 20094:19 pm
AJ is hitting .340 with 3HR (our team lead) an OBP of .500 and slugging .660 for the Rangers. He’s walked 14 times vs. 10 SO.
MFin04 (The Hopeless Romantic)
Discontinuing the KFC coupon thing is retarded. What did they think, people would go and get a free meal or tell others to do the same? Stupid stupid company, they should be sued for false advertising.
I understand Bobby wanting to get KJ in there at get him going, but lets stop batting him 1st. We are making this guy into a silver slugger when he’s more Matt Diaz. Tie him up on the inside.
May 9th, 20094:20 pm
The Braves must be keeping Kevin Coste in a job. He kills us.
May 9th, 20094:23 pm
Their pitcher sees more pitches than KJ, Esco Chipper combined.
By the way, with runners on base, Schafer is now 5-for-42 (.119) with 21 strikeouts.
With RISP, he’s 2-for-23 with 12 strikeouts and ZERO RBI.
May 9th, 20094:24 pm
JV is throwing alot of pitches …
May 9th, 20094:25 pm
DOB…it could be worse..at least he is not hitting into double plays
Here comes the big inning, uh-oh!!!!
May 9th, 20094:26 pm
Javy has some nasty suff
nice work javy!!
I love being completely wrong, stupid stupid me
May 9th, 20094:27 pm
How bad is Bobby Cox’s heart burn
DOB what is Kotchman with RISP? I bet it was horrendous until the last two big games he’s had.
May 9th, 20094:29 pm
WELCOME…it’s from some deodorant commercial…
May 9th, 20094:30 pm
Sorry…but…at the moment… I believe if the pitcher threw Sammy Sosa’s GIANT “head” down the middle of the plate…Schafer would swing and miss…(and KJ… would probably “take” it for srike 3)
Jim, so true about Coste. Looked up his stats this morning, thinking same thing myself.
Sure enough, before today he’d hit .455 (20-for-44) with two homers and eight RBI in his past 15 games against the Braves.
In that same period (since Aug. 10, 2007), he hit .224 in 125 games against everyone else.
will say again. This team is so mismanaged by a old fart and a retard of a GM who already has destroyed one team .. Its time for Them to go.. when will the so called ownership get tired of losing and actually care about this team. a HOF manager doesnt mismanage a Ball team for 4 straight years like the way cox has.. His excuses and reasons just dont make any sense.. his lineups are awful and laughable.Bullpen usage unreal. KJ is not a leadoff hitter.. Infante has proven he deserves to play not KJ.. cox doesnt teach patience or small ball.. thats a joke . steal some bases H&R bunt .. until he is gone we should get used to the losing or bad records until the team and farm systems are used right. Hanson should be on this team. NOT 0 for 17 HOHO Reyes. Hes junk and a Minor leaguer thats it.. another example of mismanagment..
May 9th, 20094:32 pm
John- What about Bonds head would he miss that too…. LOL
May 9th, 20094:33 pm
KJ is a better option for the Braves than Kotchman in the 6-hole
John, yeah, but what about if the pitcher threw Bonds’ gourd down the middle? I think Schafer could make contact with that giant noggin.
May 9th, 20094:34 pm
here comes complaining about first pitch swinging
We lost a great coach and a better person today..Chuck Daly…
Three years ago the blog loved Chuck James, a year later it hated him.
Two years ago it cheered the Tex trade, now it kills it.
Last year we were calling for Morton, now we are ready to discard him.
This spring we nominated Schafer as the starting CF, now we are claiming he sucks.
This spring the more impatient were even rushing Heyward into the breech by August or Sept.
Now the chorus is for Hanson. What will it be if he struggles?
Meanwhile the only idiot on the blog is Bobby Cox, the rest of us are the only ones who know how to make this bunch into a winner.
May 9th, 20094:35 pm
Frenchy and Diaz can swing at the first pitch, they are are designated first pitch swingers, no one else is allowed!!!!
… does anybody read all these posts … i just read DOB and Carol and once in a while read others
May 9th, 20094:36 pm
OK..I admit…if it was Bond’s “head”…Schafer would probably foul tip it…maybe get a piece of one of those GIANT “ears”…
looks like Vaz. is gonna have to throw a gem with our offense taking a “much needed” day off…
MFin04, Kotchman is 6-for-24 with three extra-base hits and three strikeouts with RISP. Not good at all, but not even remotely as awful as the kid. And we’ll repeat, we really like Schafer and think he’s going to be a damn fine player for a long time. But right now … wow, is he struggling to make contact.
May 9th, 20094:37 pm
DOB’s fav pitcher being interviewed now.
Frenchy’s been saving his energy for that play.
May 9th, 20094:38 pm
Jim, very good points at 4:34 p.m.
May 9th, 20094:40 pm
bravos2249…thx for the link…i love it!! im suprised DOB doesn’t like the idea of the braves getting all DP2C on the phillies
Notice they didnt do this interview when the braves were at bat, wouldnt have had time.
May 9th, 20094:41 pm
Seriously, at most I thought that was a pop up.
Not too worried about that HR, Javier “dominated” Utley in his last AB.
May 9th, 20094:42 pm
Vazquez gives up a homerun? Very uncharacteristic.
May 9th, 20094:43 pm
I saw this on CNN to why KFC can’t honor its coupons. I guess with the economy so bad they underestimated the interest in free chicken or maybe just the power of Oprah.
That ball did look like a shallow pop-up to short.
I Love Tim Hudson!
that was a great at bat by Utley but are you kidding me with the carry on that thing? It looked like it was going to end up way short…
See if you make contact in this park, you have a chance of going out. If Garrett Anderson pops that ball up to left field he’s got a homerun instead of a flyout to Victorino.
Just get the ball ing thae air and its a HR in that band box.. WOW play in a MLB stadium not a LL stadium.
Surprise, surprise. Gopheritis strikes again….
May 9th, 20094:44 pm
Auburn will miss Tommy Tuberville
Bad time for vaz to struggle seeing how hes only gonna get a 1-2 minute break before he goes back to the hill. He wont have time to both sit down and get gatorade, which do you think he should do? Im gonna go with the gatorade.
May 9th, 20094:45 pm
HEy, anybody know who we gave up for huddy a couple years ago??
Control not great for Vaz this inning. Got a gift on that 3rd strike to Werth.
May 9th, 20094:46 pm
Field is so small that LF can give the 3B a pat on the arse after a good play without even taking a step.
DOB, I have to agree with others, That Utley HR didn’t look crushed. Think that was a HR in Turner?
charles thomas, dan meyer, and another prospect I believe
May 9th, 20094:47 pm
i know chucky t and juan cruz were part of it…i think there was a 3rd player as well
juan cruz was the other
May 9th, 20094:48 pm
That hit by Utley wouldn’t have left Coors Field!!!
May 9th, 20094:49 pm
that ball may not have been to the warning track at Turner…
Juan cruz was the other player in the hudson trade
well im pretty sure we got the better end of that deal…
Rob from SC
Schafer hit the ball hard
May 9th, 20094:50 pm
Schafer actually rolled over the top of the ball that AB. In unrelated news, I can see the four horsemen in the distance.
I look like a genius with Vazquez batting 8th, lol.
Javy Vazquez, swinging good wood there for a double.
The Braves are confident that Schafer will turn things around right?
Runner on second with 1 out, think we can score him?
May 9th, 20094:51 pm
Yeah, we seriously have to consider batting our pitchers 8th.
May 9th, 20094:52 pm
There we go KJ
Good job Kelster.
Wow..that was awesome KJ…
Jim…you’re exactly right. Doesn’t matter ehat happens really, if these guys don’t produce every single day, people on here will trash them.
Way to go strike back against the blogosphere, KJ!
Thataboy KJ, whoever had him going 0-5 losses that bet. KJ is usually good down in the lineup with men on.
KJ..can fly?…Mark Grace doesn’t do his homework..
This is where Yunel succeeds, will he continue?
May 9th, 20094:53 pm
There’s a good at bat from KJ
Not to come off the wrong way hopefully; but is it just me or is Escobar’s skin color much more darker?
May 9th, 20094:54 pm
Yes he will!!!
Yes Jake, he will.
BYE BYE BIRDIE. Shot from Escobar.
You go Yu-nel!!
Yunel the man!
Well that was nice.
Good one, Yunel.
YARD!!!!! He can hit if he sees some pitces…maybe he should do that more often!!!!! He hit the crap out of that ball!!!
Padres must be kicking themselves for not trading Peavy
WOW…thought that was a little fly out. Now, hopefully Vaz. has already had his famous “bad inning” because we seriously need this win.
May 9th, 20094:55 pm
wtg esco,kj &javy ….4-1
Yunie comes through again
Let’s not stop here please.
Why is Gonzo in the dugout?
May 9th, 20094:56 pm
Can we bat our pitcher leadoff? It kinda makes sense, you get him out of the way…and maybe he can get on with a double.
I find it funny whenever someone comes on here during a Braves game in Philly and b***hes about how some balls shouldn’t be homers. ****, we’re playing there, too. There’s no reason our guys can’t hit the ball out the same way.
Since Fox has screwed alot of us out of seeing the Braves for a third straight saturday, can we please get reliable play by play from those watching? DOB is probably busy writing stories and such so those lucky enough to be watching please give score updates because Gameday suuuuucks.
May 9th, 20094:57 pm
Chipper got some bad calls on that AB, should have been 3-0 not 2-1.
Ya here that Philly fans… your pitcher’s are on pace give up the MOST hr’s in the history of MLB! Ya’ll gonna brag about that too?
