LEW:

RISP .217 per THE HARDBALL TIMES. Doesn't sound right to me. Would sure love to see a split on the RISP figure for the season. Bet its improving. Maybe CARROLL has access to such info as our residnet INSIDER.

GWINNETT:

HITTING:

DIORY HERNANDEZ:
2B, 18 G, 69 AB, 7 R, 25 H, 9 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 14 RBI, 34 TB, 7 BB, 7 SO, 2 SB, 2 CS, .436 OBP, .493 SLG, .362 AVG, .929 OPS, 5 E.

NOTABLE:

5 errors, yikes. Must be taking lessons from the lumbering Cuban. Then again maybe not, as BARBARO only has one, a decided improvement over his RICHMOND days. Of course, he's listed as a DH, but I note there's no 1B on the current roster either. I remember some errors for HERNANDEZ here in RICHMOND when he was called up last year also. Obviously no improvement to date. Batting .400 against lefties, .352 against righties in 54 AB's. DAMMED good hitting either way. PHENOM status with men on(.500) and in scoring position(.667), but only hitting .222 when behind in the count. Singles hitter with a bad glove and vunerable to strikes in the zone when the count is negative. Most ML pitchers will have a field day. Lots of work to do.

STARTING PITCHING:

TOMMY HANSON:
6 G, 1-3 record, 1.65 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, 32.2 IP, 21 H, 8 R, 6 ER, 1 HR, 1 HB, 12 BB, 48 SO.

NOTABLE:
Have mercy on the IL hitters. When's the call-up? Is there an options deadline? Day after....

CHARLIE MORTON:
5 G(starts tonight), 4.15 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 26.0 IP, 24 H, 12 R, 12 ER, 2 HR, 1 HB, 8 BB, 30 SO.

NOTABLE:
CHARLIE, CHARLIE..... Consistancy where is your glory? My man MORTON has all the tools, I've seen them many times, but his inconsistancy is killing him. And I think he's becoming prime trade bait. There has to be some other club who thinks they've got the magic formula for solving his problem. If he doesn't rebound strong this season, his days are numbered in THIS organization. 5.21 in April, 1.29 in May. He needs back to back solid starts. He can be dominating just as HANSON is, but....6.59 against lefties ouch - 1.46 agin' righties. 5.06 behind in the count. 0.00 with the bases empty, 10.13 with runners on, and 23.14 with runners in scoring position - unhorrible which is beyond horrible. All point to the old horse-collar when things get tight. PANIC CITY. CHARLIE, ya' gotta' believe my man, in yourself that is.

KRIS MEDLEN:
6 G, 5 GS, 1.17 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, 30.2 IP, 17 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 HR, 0 HB, 7 BB, 38 SO.

NOTABLE:

Outstanding line. Great hits to IP ratio and BB-SO as well. No hit batsmen, and 0 HR's!!!! Lefties, righties makes no difference. He mows 'um all down. 0.53 vs. left-handers, 1.98 vs. righties. WHEW!!!! Behind in the count 0.00, 0.77 ahead, pick your poison. Bases empty 0.00, runners on - 3.00, and in scoring position - 5.06, but he's only been in that position 5.1 innings total. When ATLANTA comes calling he'll be ready. Go get 'um KRIS.

As a "cleanup hitter" you have to drive in more runs than anyone on your team, that is the goal and that is why you are batting fourth. He obviously isnt a fourth hitter, but if he is batting there he still has to drive in runs. It's really hard to bat .300 and drive in only 6 runs in 28 games. Diaz KJ and McCann all have more RBIs than Kotchman, that is sad!

I bet they have all driven in more runs than Kotchman. The other thing is Casey K can't score runs because he is soo slow as well.

Yeah-I'll bet he just waits until no one is on to hit doubles and Hr's. Again-whatever. YOu want to blame someone or something for our offensive woes, talk about three position players (KJ, Diaz and Schafer) batting under .240-don't go gunning for the guy who is on pace to set a team record for doubles, is hitting over .310 and has an OBP of .375.

Casey is not hitting well with RISP, if you watch the games...his doubles, even his homer was with no one on. His doubles have all been with no one on. I havent been able to find a site with RISP, but that stat doesnt matter. Look at his RBIs and look at how many runners he has had on in front of him. He has had bases loaded a few times, 2 and 3rd a few times, I am sure a lot of others when Chipper was pitched around, (1st and 2nd).
