To start, I have always been a big Reyes fan (as I am with most Braves prospects). I find it comical that after one start, the blog was ready to deem him the next Blaine Boyer. Now, after 5 innings, some are already talking about him blocking Glavine and Hanson.

Talk about living in the moment.

Joe “knows” talent.

Want a laugh? Look up Joe Simpson’s career stats and laugh next time he talks about what a hitter needs to do to produce.

Omar did fine last year with only 300 ab….maybe not start him full time but every now and then…a little platoon wouldn’t hurt.

The Braves should never have signed GA anyway…I don’t normally bash Bobby, and I think he is a GREAT manager, but he does get carried away with wanting that “veteran” presence. GA is washed up, has no fire, and you can completely tell he doesn’t want to be in the ATL. I know some will have gnashing of team at this suggestion, but I think he should be released. Yup, that’s right. Dump him. Eat the 2.5 million. About the worst 2.5 million this org has spent this side of Hampton.

Stat #1: The Braves are tied for 6th in the Majors, with 97 Runs Against on the season. That is a good thing.

Stat #2: The Braves are tied for 5th in the Majors for fewest Runs Scored, with 93. That is a bad thing.

That about sums it up, doesn’t it? Pitching’s great, offense isn’t.

Conclusion: this team needs to learn how to play small ball and execute on the fundamentals if they’re going to stay/be relevant because their pitching’ll keep them in games, but it can’t win it for them. Today’s a great example. You execute on the bunts and hit the sacrifice flies, and all of a sudden you’re up 3-1 with your fifth starter pitching extremely well…and as I say that, Reyes implodes. Ugh.

Get him a 2 run lead and he pulls out the typical Jo-Jo choke job…Can we at some point come to the realization that this guy doesn’t have it and never will? He’s been nothing but an inconsistent choke artist from the start. Can we please give up on him?

Anderson had the choice not to go on a rehab assignment and he chose not to. It wouldn’t have been hard for him to get up to Gwinnett – that, if anything, is the surprising part to me. Otherwise, I don’t know that it’s such a huge deal for him. He didn’t refuse, he was given a choice and chose no.

Boo, Infante is the current flavor-of-the-week. Stick around, he’ll eventually put up two 0-4 games in a row and everyone here will hate him. Such is the case with the bandfwagon fans here, their opinions on any hitter not named Chipper literally change after each at-bat.

Jo Jo pitched well. Everyone has a bad inning from time to time. A bunt hit, Francoeur should have caught Berkman’s ball in my opinion. Nobody jumped on Vazquez when he gave up 4 in a inning earlier this week.

Got a bunch of you still drinking the ‘Jo-Jo’ has a ton of potential kool-aid. I’ve had it with inconsistency on this team. The last thing the braves need is another guy who could come out and dazzle on month or be absolute garbage another. (See Kelly Johnson, Yunel Escobar, Charlie Morton, etc.) Trade these guys while they still have some value, bring up the talent (see Hanson), and go get some guys who can consistently produce. 7-12 one week and 4-39 the next 2 isn’t winning ballgames for this team as we have seen for the past 3 years. The braves spent 14 years on top because they were a model of consistency and for the past 3 they have been anything but that.
