Mitchell! Don’t you get it! It was only a little, tiny bit of Hampton’s butt cheek! Just enough to make the crowd laugh at him and make him feel bad.

Man, DLowe had Berkman struck out, but Sammons dropped the ball (really tough play but I bet McCann would have held on). Berkman singles and knocks DLowe out of the game.

I think I might’ve had KJ hit for Chipper in the 7th and stay in at 2B for the 8th and 9th, sliding Infante over to 3B.

I mean, with the score 7-2, you can protect Chipper from a fluke injury and give KJ an AB to maybe help him get out of his slump.

A – Beat the streak is a fairly silly fantasy game on mlb.com when you pick a hitter every day and if that hitter records a hit your streak continues. The goal is to build a 57 game hitting streak and you win 1,000,000$. I’m not sure of the exact rules.

Well the G-Braves are having fun in Rhode Island. Kris Medlen almost matched Tommy Hanson’s pitching line from last night. Medlen: 6 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 8 K’s, 0 R. (Hanson had the same line except 9 K’s instead of 8). The team got a shutout both nights. Wow. Looking good on the farm.

AustinBrave (4:41 pm): “Japan won the last two World Classic’s by playing small ball.”

Can you give specific examples, or are you simply repeating what you’ve heard others pronounce.

Remember, small ball is the exchange of an out for a base. It is not an umbrella term for hustling, or stealing bases, or hit-and-runs, or bunting for hits.

Peachtree TV is showing a view of the Tarp. They put all the heavy things they could find along the edges to hold the tarp down – you know tractors and landscaping buggies. I was wondering if we are still paying Bob Wickman? He could at least sit out there and hold down an edge.

Yeah, JD. I think the old one was maybe even worse. I prefer “Load Up the Bases” to both of the versions of “Braves Play Here”. Load up the Bases seems like a more family-friendly, fan centered piece of music while “Braves Play Here” has a decidedly corporate theme.

Some minor league updates…

Jacob Thompson threw 7 innings with 4ER, 3K. Braden Schlehuber 2-3 with a 2B.

Jeff Locke another strong outing for Myrtle…7 scoreless, 2H, 2BB, 6K. Cody Johnson homered, walked, and didn’t strike out.

Gorkys Hernandez 1-3 with a 2B, Brandon Hicks 0-2. Jonny Venters 5 innings, 1ER, 5H, 5BB, 2K.

Kris Medlen 6 scoreless…8K, 3H, 2BB. Impressive.

PWHjort, do they still have that “beat the streak” game this year. I was wondering about that. I played it for a while last year. Got up to 21 straight, missed one, and then 11 more. They had a $10,000 prize for the longest streak of the year. One problem, for me, is that if you miss a day of playing, your streak comes to an end. I spend too much time in the wilderness, away from a computer, to play it all the time. I finally stopped very early in the season, last year.
They also had a HR streak, last year. I thought that was even tougher.

1. Infante 2. Escobar 3. Chipper 4. Francoeur 5. Kotchman 6. Diaz 7. Schafer 8. Sammons”

Supes (4:39 pm): “This current Braves lineup is extremely flawed and no wonder the team is struggling to score runs.”

MFin04 (4:43 pm): “Bobby is reallly slow to figure out the lineup. . . . The correct lineup will show up it 7-8 days lol.”

chipperchop (4:46 pm): “Now that is one crappy lineup.”

Okay — so seven hits and seven runs in seven innings really suck, huh? (And disregarding of course several brilliant defensive plays by the Astros.)

Gotcha. He’s seemed to do a lot better the past few starts by going 6 innings. But, don’t the Braves normally have a pretty tight leash on their minor league pitchers early in the season? There are only a couple of times I can remember where that wasn’t necessarily the case, like last year where Charlie Morton threw 122 pitches fairly early in the season for Richmond.

Hanson does seem like a guy who will always throw a lot of pitches…kinda like [cough]Jake Peavy[cough]

McCann wearing glasses makes me feel alot better now. If a top player like him is able to do it, then maybe there is still hope for me!

But lets hope he doesn’t end up with a big issue that I have discovered with glasses. When you sweat and it’s warm outside, you get a lttle bit of evaporation off your body. Whatever is around your face then goes and condenses on the glasses, making it quite hard to see. I’m actually being serious about that, so we better hope McCann doesn’t have an issue with it.
