Escobar GIDP just failed to live up to his name. Braves are making sure not to make Hampton throw lot of pitches, don’t want him to get hurt again.

See, all I had to do was write about the Braves’ homerless streak and how they probably wouldn’t homer off Hampton… Voila.

By the way, there’s a big sign hanging from the Chop House, that says “Hampton’s Havenots. Thanks for Nothing.”

Steve McP…can’t Infante also play C in a pinch? If not…can still always move Diaz to C and bring in another guy to play LF…I’m OK with the current defensive alignment…

…as I was typing, Jeffy hit one out…2-1 Braves…finally!

Does anyone know if catcher’s masks are fitted to the individual in any way? Maybe there’s a few hockey-styles leftover from Estrada. Any one with eye trouble knows that if your eye is bothering you, it bothers your whole entire body.

McFann: Maybe the team can petition MLB to let us use yellow balls like they do in tennis to help ‘ol four eyes until this problem gets “cleared up.” I’ll have to look up the patron saint of eyes. St Cecelia maybe? Hey, I know, let’s ask SCGal!!!

DOB: if one needs a lasik touch-up, they can do it soon after the original surgery is done, like in a couple of months. Thanks goodness infection is not the problem.

I was experiencing blurry vision from time to time, went to the dr. and he said I had oily eyes! Had to wash the lids well for a week or so, and it cleared that up, but I was diagnosed right away.

When you think about everything that goes on in your body that has to go right for you to feel and function well, it’s mind- boggling. (I’m sure BMac would take a boggled mind over dry and blurry eyes!)

Frenchy must have been reading the blog tonight because, with all that talk about the lack of homers and no certifiable cleanup hitter, he takes care of both.

Frenchy, if you happen to read this comment too, it’s great to see you coming around and playing great baseball again. It’d be awful nice to have you, Chip and Mac hitting back to back and producing.

I remember when the Braves were opening at home against the Mets and the announcers were talking about how the first pitch is always an indicator of how the season will go, then all the sudden Kaz Matsui takes Russ Ortiz out of the ball park to straight away center. Good times.

DOB, what’s the deal with second base now, is Omar going to take over for Kelly or is this just a short term change?

Tom O'Hawke

May 1st, 2009

DOB, I believe it was Run Heap Run that suggested negative writing, to produce positive results. She may be on to something.

TJ, I actually knew what the LMAO meant, but had no idea when you prefaced it with ROF. I’m glad you’re OK with my version. I like that one better myself.

Shut Up Joe and Chip!

May 1st, 2009
8:05 pm

Those guys just need to shut up about their disappointment with the crowd booing Hampton! They assumed, on the air, that it was because Hampton was hurt during the life of his contract and that is why all the fans were booing.

Then they continued to make the excuse that he kept rehabbing instead of just hangin it up so he could play ball again.

Well guess what you two rocket scientists! He rehabbed to WALK AWAY FROM THE BRAVES! I had NOOOOOOO problem with that jerk until he walked away from the Braves after they stood behind him during all that rehab.

So just shut up and call the game. Stop trying to expound on how the fans should behave toward Mike Hampton.

I really could have done without Chip and Joe getting all self righteous about why fans booed Mike Hampton. Fellas, we get it. You like Hampton. You know Hampton. You’re friends with Hampton. It’s not his fault. Doesn’t matter to fans. We haven’t made the playoffs in three seasons. We got stuck with an $80 million payroll by AOL. He was taking up 10% of that, and hurting our ability to compete on the field during the season and financially off the field during the offseason. He was counted on to be a top of the rotation guy with Hudson and Smoltz. He wasn’t that, despite being paid alot of money to be that. Fans don’t know Hampton, but they what they do know is that he hurt the team hurt the team on the field and in the pocketbook FOR FOUR FRIGGIN’ SEASONS!!! I’m not saying it’s right to question his heart or desire or anything like that. But just the same, it ain’t right to act like you don’t get why fans boo Hampton either.

Moderate Maniac

May 1st, 2009
8:11 pm

It was just before they DL’ed Mac that I posted here that I didn’t understand why Mac couldn’t just wear glasses instead of screwing with contacts when they were irritating his eyes. I cited Darrell Porter and some other catchers who had played while wearing glasses.

Multi-million dollar corporations are sometimes run by idiots. The last year has proven that. So instead of shoving some glasses on Mac and being able to keep him in the lineup, they DL him for 15 days.

Oh well.
