Wow. How could Ross not have in his mind that he might throw him that big hook again? Fastball 3-2, bases loaded ain’t no “given” in today’s game. Lot’s of pitchers would rather walk one in than give in.
Oh well, lets hold ‘em and get ‘em back next inning.
If Kawakami ends up being a bust, and Jo Jo finds his groove, I hope to everything that is good that Tommy Hanson will be called up. Arbitration clock be damned!
bases loaded. kotchman and francouer singled diaz swings at the first pitch.. 2outs schafer walks and ross just watches strike 3… sorry to say there was there chance..
Just because he never gets any credit… I’m glad to see Bobby staying with Vazquez after a tough (and unlucky) inning. Javy’s only thrown 78 pitches thru 6. No reason to go to the middle of the pen this early.
If the game ended right now, I could live with the Braves performance in this game.
Vazquez was plinked to death! All singles that inning, only the last single was stung! That stuff happens sometimes. Braves offense was aggressive in a smart way. (not dumb baserunning)
I can live with the Braves effort tonight up to now, even if they lose. And believe me, I’ve been critical of the team A LOT this year!
What is with Escobar and hitting into DPs this year? He seems to have done that a ton so far. Or am I remembering wrong? (and believe me, that does happen!)
Why do we go away from sending the runner? As soon as Bobby goes away from what works…we ground into a double play…just makes no sense at all. Esco has needed a day on the pine for about 3 days now!!!

It was my understanding that all Japanese pitchers only pitch once a week. Plus, the ball is smaller. And, I think the season is shorter. Some of this could be just my ‘magination (once again). (Yes, if you said “The Temptations” you would be right!)
How many times is Escobar going to be impatient and make Chipper leadoff the next inning… THREE TIMES already tonight. No RBI opportunities. For the last three years…
At 111 pitches, and despite dancing through 6 innings of trouble, stranding 17 runs, Wainwright is batting leadoff in the next inning. Seems like hes trying to give it up.
Huh? Wainwright is at 110 pitches but he gets to strike out to start the inning. Larussa didn’t want to waste a pinch hitter? Or is he sending AW out to pitch the 7th?
TJ– It’s not just this year for Escobar hitting into DP’s. He tied a team record last year with like 24 I think. Maybe he should be leading off if Bobby isn’t going to bat Schafer ther, or maybe Bobby should hit him 9th, that way the pitcher can bunt over any runners on base so he can’t hit into as many DP’s.
And as I’ve been saying for weeks now, BAT KOTCHMAN 2ND!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, Macon Braves. I didn’t remember (there we go with that memory thing again..) him doing as much last year, but I have noticed it a lot this season so far… He’s done it a ton. Definite rally killer. I would have no problem seeing him batting lower in the order either.
I know the games not over but it is very impressive so far that our staff hasn’t given up a homer to the Cards. I saw their homestand before they came and lets just say they were hitting um left and right off of good pitchers.
You all know this game is over. Why because the Braves have scored 3 runs and based on what we’ve seen this year they can’t hardly score that many, much less more than that in a 9 inning game.
How much you wanna bet ESPN is going to comment of Jeff not K’ing in so many AB then this guy gets him…giving no credit to Jeff for hitting so good so far but to the pitcher for striking him out?
Tom O’Hawke- I can only manage the smile, the laugh and the sad face. Needed the rest of them… My repertoire (did I spell that right?) was very limited..
“He took 4 walks last night… what are you talking about?” – zmerk13
I’m talking about the FACT that he’s seen 3.22 pitches per ab, including last night’s 4 walks. That’s 108th out of 111 qualified hitters. (in last place, btw, is Yunel Escobar with 2.99 pitches per ab.)
It’t time to sit Escobar down for a little while. Put in Infante at short and Prado at second. Escobar is turned into a rally killer of late. Time to change some things up! Keep KJ on his arse a while longer as well.
macdwolfpack, 9:22 pm, “You all know this game is over. Why because the Braves have scored 3 runs and based on what we’ve seen this year they can’t hardly score that many, much less more than that in a 9 inning game.”
