Efrim, you can shout it from the highest peaks and no one will hear you. Face it, people just have this innate hatred of Kelly that will even force them to say things like “boy, would’nt it just be dandy if David Eckstein was on our team?”

And yes, I too wonder if the meaning of sample size is lost on these folks. And after reading the blog, I’ve decided that yes, it is. Badly.

And yes, it bothers me too. Just like the folks blaming Bobby or the “lack of speed” on our troubles bothers me too. I guess there’s nothing to do except shake your head in amazement at the sheer stupidity plastered upon these pages time and time again. Fight the good fight man, I’m with ya on that one.

doc

im just not sure im on board with that, yet, because weve seen in each one of his losses, something happen that he cant control. in each of his last two losses, there were errors that lead to runs, and yesterday, the weird HBP that only happened because the guy was hanging over the plate trying to bunt, and the would-be double play that got messed up led to a huge inning.

with out those errors in the the other two games, we may have seen kawakami go deeper into those games, and had we gotten the double play, the whole game could have been different.

for now, im gonna say its more luck than kawakmai putting fat pitches up there, because the other team has been getting extra outs off of him alot.

…and admit it, MFin04, you’re really just Doc Holiday under another moniker, right?

McFann-

10:00 for the first “what’s up with Mac’s eye?” post? What, did you sleep in this morning? I’m very disappointed young lady! ;)

Bay Area Steve-

No worries, it would take a lot more then that to offend me!

Macon Braves, I don’t think Escobar is necessarily lacking patience. If I remember correctly TP and YE worked on being more aggressive at the plate this spring so it may be more strategic. If you look at his stats this year his average is up, slugging is up, his Ks are down. He’s putting the ball in play. It’s be different if he were like Francouer last year, swinging first pitch and hitting .222 because of it. But he’s not.

“Schafer has a combination total RBI and Runs Scored of 13.”

You see a lot of guys in the 8th spot with a ton of RBIs and Runs Scored. KJ isnt a leadoff hitter…he is better suited middle of the order. Put Infante there if you’d rather. We need to change something up. I dont really care what it is….put a new lead-off hitter in…and a new-cleanup hitter would be nice.

Efrim, buck up, bro. My guess is that Kelly must have kissed a lot of bloggers’ sisters in the past, during his single days.

Using “kissed” euphemistically, of course, LOL.

Efrim/Steve,

Can you say “banging your head against a brick wall”? That is what is feels like to try to bring some logic and sanity to some on the blog.

Denizens here pointing out that Hanson needed the seasoning in Gwinett and backing it up by saying he can’t get out of the 5th inning, well they aren’t being realistic.

Gwinett is a bad team and having seen them in Richmond over the years don’t expect a whole lot. The fact that he can’t last 5 innings there is no barometer to how he will fare in Atlanta. I am sure the Braves have no worries whatsoever. About Hanson that is, Leadoff guy—now there is a source of concern.

A “new cleanup hitter” and new “leadoff hitter”? Are we trading for these type players? How about different players. In either case the Braves are hurting.

So…if this continues to happen to KK, does BC put him in the bullpen and call up TH, or CM? My initial thought (no pun intended) is that if it does continue, he goes to the pen.

They’re paying him too much money to stick him in the pen. I wouldn’t look for that to happen any time soon. As far as Hanson goes, I like the kid as much as anybody but he hasn’t made it past the 5th inning in Gwinnett yet has he?

Rock On,
What does Gwinnett having a bad team have to do with Hanson’s ability to pitch past the 5th inning? “The team” isn’t the cause of him throwing 100 pitches through 5 innings.

My favorite nuggets of wisdom from today’s FOX Sports Power Rankings:

Twins: “Kevin Slowy has appears to be straightened”
Mets: “Tied with the Mets for the league lead in triples”
Rockies: “Jason Marquis is doing his part. Rest of the staff”

FOX Sprts editors has appears to be tied with Fox Sprts editors for worst editing on the Internets. Rest of the staff.

If the Braves do have a mediocre season, they will most likely have to upgrade somewhere. I’m not sure they will be going after a high priced corner outfielder. Jason Heyward is in LF/RF late 2010, starting 2011. So if they decide to keep Frenchy in RF, than I think they upgrade will come in the middle infield or first base, obviously. So I think eventually, many bloggers here will get there wish and Johnson will be off the team. Maybe Escobar. Maybe Kotchman(although Freeman is a really, really good prospect).

We’ll see what happens in Kawakami’s next start. I want to see if he can avoid that one inning where everything seems to fall apart (happened to Hudson one year). I think he will. We just need to get some timely hitting and some smart baserunning because we’re not gonna hit the ball out of the park a lot to score runs. Pitching top to bottom will keep us in games.

DAP (11:53 am): “im not sure if im reading you well. i offered that tid bit about kawakami’s last start to support your previous point….but yes, i forgive you. for whatever”

What I meant was, after I “explained” how Kawakami’s last start was a fluke and not necessarily bad pitching and said “we’ll see” about his first 3 starts, I meant to go back and look at them. But then you explained how he’d lost the start before last because of 2 unearned runs.

I thought then that maybe I was off the hook from looking at his first 2 starts.

But getnathan (12:00 pm), (11:49 am) & (11:40 am); and Doc Holiday (11:50 am) & (11:39 am) seem to need more convincing.

Some of my observations after 18 games….

1. Kelly is still too inconsistent at the plate. Is he going to be mediocre for most of the season and then end the season with a hot streak once again?

2. 11 million for Vaquez next year might be a bargain.

3. Schafer reminds me a lot like BJ Surhoff (both offensively and defensively)

4. I know its early….would the braves have been better suited to sign a bat rather than sign Kenshin?

5. As for Hanson…he hasn’t pitched badly. 0-3 2.18 ERA 29 k’s in 20 innings. Sounds more like run support then anything else. I would be more concerned with Morton’s 6 ERA.

I was going for switching the lineup not trading for players…but it might end up coming to that.

I never said KK pitched badly. He just seems to have one inning where he gives up runs. I think he’ll learn to avoid those and give us a chance to win more games, being that the bullpen has started to come around (even Jeff Bennett’s .400 oba)

but can someone tell me why I’m still DVRing “Prison Break?” — Bay Area Steve

Hilarious. Because I’m doing the same thing, and asking myself same question. But I can’t stop.

Meanwhile, Breaking Bad is phenomenal, keeps getting better. Just watched last night’s episode when I got home this morning.

wishful thinking George, but who are we going to vote in? I think to this point that Jair Jurrjens is deserving, to me. I can’t think of anyone else who is.
