I would do this, not because I hate KJ or because of something personal……but because its a win win situation.
1. KJ hits better down the order.
2. He has shown he can overcome pressure…..he has gone into a horrible slump and he has come out of it or at least times look better for him.
3. You could use this overaggressive yunels approach in your favor. And you could use a teammate (schafer) to get the best out of yunels situation.
Since Cox loves shuffling the lineup, I think he will sooner or later put up this lineup we are talking about and he will like what he sees.
Plus……..protecting out cleanup hitter or 5th hitter with KJ would be great for the team.

Moving KJ out of the lead off spot has nothing to do with my man love for Schafer. (He’s clearly not ready yet.)
That said, KJ is 3/27 on this road trip.
Really, you don’t need a prototypical lead off hitter at this point.. Just anyone from the lineup that can get on base better than KJ.

Yes, by all means, put the fastest guy in the lineup just ahead of your best hitter, so that every time the guy is on and uses his speed, he takes the bat right out of said best hitter’s hands. Brilliant.

KJ had a pretty good AB but the Reds’ first baseman made a good play on a line drive. I was dozing when Escobar made his out.
Chipper’s worked a 3-2 count. Owings appears to be wild so far.

Kawakami in to pitch the bottom of the ninth.
Hope he has figured out the strike zone for this start. Granted, it has been a little flexible in recent past games.

Joe just mentioned that the Braves need to play better defense behind KK. I heartily agree.

KK is making his pitches and getting ahead early in the count. Reds are swinging early.
Votto just got hit on the ankle. Did not look deliberate. Although maybe this was “pay-back” for Yunel getting hit on the hand yesterday.

I voted for Logan to bat leadoff. I think he is ready for the chance. Put KJ in a spot to drive in runs. It adds another element to the offense, and at times this year; it may have been the only element. How I would like to see the line-up

In honor of the poll question, I really do think we oughtta give Schafer a whirl in the leadoff spot. The offense could use a spark (with yesterday being the exception rather than the rule, I think), Kelly’s not hitting well at the top of the order, Schafer’s proven he can make adjustments (at least so far), etc.
Plus, if you move Kelly down in the order, I think this offense becomes so much more potent and you can let Schafer use some of his speed to swipe a couple bags. And please get Krotch out of the cleanup spot. I’d like to see something like this:
1. Schafer
2. Yunel
3. Chip
4. Frenchy
5. Krotch
6. Kelly
7. Diaz/BJ
8. Ross
Hitting Frenchy cleanup scares me a little, too, but he seems to be consistently employing whatever he worked on in the offseason…so, might as well see if he can do it in the 4 hole as well.

What I was trying to post on the other blog but never could get it to go thru is that here lately, whatever the title or theme of the blog entry is usually the exact opposite happens. I wanted Dave to title this one No Way In HECK Braves sweep today but instead he went the other way, ergo, Braves won’t win today.
Of course I would love to be wrong so Go Braves!

The question for me on Schafer is not should he hit lead-off, but when should he hit lead-off. When the Braves were scoring tons of runs early and before Logan had his first adjustment, he needed to hit low in the order. Now that the Braves are struggling to score runs (yesterday excepted) and Schafer has adjusted, it’s time to start talking about giving him a chancet.

DOB, would you please send a mass email out to all the announcers of the opposing teams that Jordan did not test positive for HGH. Tell them you cannot detect HGH in the first place. Also tell them that he was suspended because of involvement with people surrounded with HGH. This is like the 3rd time I have heard announcers saying he tested positive for HGH.

There’s no test for HGH so nobody knows if he took it or not, except Logan himself. I have a feeling though that that will follow him the rest of his career, much like Chipper’s hooter thing.

Hit and run. KK throws a ball just out of the dirt. Hernandez swings and misses. Ross GUNS Encarnacion out at second. It looked a little like the “Willie Mays Hayes” play from “Major League” where Hayes slides about 2 feet short of the bag and gets tagged out. That is how far Encarnacion seemed to be on the slide.

DOB Boog and Joe just talked about you music collection again. They said you were an expert on everything Rock n Roll. So, I will try again and ask if you ever got a chance to see the band “RLA” in ATL. Like I said, they played frequently at Smith’s Old Bar and a couple of shows at the Roxy. They got great reviews from several ATL mags and radio stations. Just wondered what your thoughts were about them.

I say we just totally ignore Marrietta Derek’s DPTC crap completely. I have a feeling he’s getting a kick out of posting 200 times/blog because everyone keeps commenting on how much they hate it. I say the blog just completely ignores Marrieta Derek’s DPTC crap. It reeks of someone trying their best just to get attention, even if what they are doing is completely annoying. Just like a two year old. When my kids did this sort of thing, if you would just ignore it and not give in to givingthem the attention they are seeking, they would eventually quit. I’m thinking Derek is just a 12 or 13 year old who badly needs attention, so we all need to just ignre his posts!

Can someone please tell me why players when their up to bat…..sometimes can’t hold on to the bat?
Hanley Rameriz was up to the plate just a few minutes ago for Florida…and during one of his swings, he loses the bat as he swung and it went into the stands.

That’s why Jose Reyes and Jimmy Rollins are all wrong for where they hit and the Phillies won the WS last season with their fastest player batting lead off and stealing 47 bases.

Man, Kawakami is looking really good today. Has the Red’s hitters totally off balance and is keeping his pitch count down. I love it when pitchers pound the strike one. Makes for a quick game when they are hitting their spots. I remember Maddux games would be over in just over two hours, because he just pounded the strike zone with pinpoint accuracy. Kawakami is reminding me of Mad Dog today.
