I would do this, not because I hate KJ or because of something personal……but because its a win win situation.
1. KJ hits better down the order.
2. He has shown he can overcome pressure…..he has gone into a horrible slump and he has come out of it or at least times look better for him.
3. You could use this overaggressive yunels approach in your favor. And you could use a teammate (schafer) to get the best out of yunels situation.
Since Cox loves shuffling the lineup, I think he will sooner or later put up this lineup we are talking about and he will like what he sees.
Plus……..protecting out cleanup hitter or 5th hitter with KJ would be great for the team.
April 26th, 20091:09 pm
Thanks for the new Blog, Chief!
In the plus direction. But that’s all I’m gonna say.
Run Heap Run–
Yeah, I know.
April 26th, 20091:12 pm
Just added a Schafer poll question to the blog
April 26th, 20091:14 pm
Moving KJ out of the lead off spot has nothing to do with my man love for Schafer. (He’s clearly not ready yet.)
That said, KJ is 3/27 on this road trip.
Really, you don’t need a prototypical lead off hitter at this point.. Just anyone from the lineup that can get on base better than KJ.
April 26th, 20091:15 pm
Yes, by all means, put the fastest guy in the lineup just ahead of your best hitter, so that every time the guy is on and uses his speed, he takes the bat right out of said best hitter’s hands. Brilliant.
Somebody call Dayn Perry and tell him he better hurry home, because the village is auditioning new idiots.
DOB, what a good song. One of the prettiest choruses, especially, I’ve heard in a long time.
KJ had a pretty good AB but the Reds’ first baseman made a good play on a line drive. I was dozing when Escobar made his out.
Chipper’s worked a 3-2 count. Owings appears to be wild so far.
April 26th, 20091:16 pm
It would be nice if Kotch went deep today.
April 26th, 20091:17 pm
Kotch doesn’t get cheated up there does he?
April 26th, 20091:18 pm
Kotchman gets jammed. Hits a sharp grounder to the first baseman.
Kawakami in to pitch the bottom of the ninth.
Hope he has figured out the strike zone for this start. Granted, it has been a little flexible in recent past games.
I like it when people use word that dont even know their meaning…………. I just let this intelligent denizens think they are cooler the more they insult other denizens………Thats how you treat a dumb child, right?

April 26th, 20091:20 pm
Good song, DOB.
Joe just mentioned that the Braves need to play better defense behind KK. I heartily agree.
Nubber back to the mound by Tavaraz. One quick out. KK provided his own defense on that one.
April 26th, 20091:22 pm
KJ makes a routine play on a grounder from Nix. 2 outs.
KK is making his pitches and getting ahead early in the count. Reds are swinging early.
Votto just got hit on the ankle. Did not look deliberate. Although maybe this was “pay-back” for Yunel getting hit on the hand yesterday.
I think Votto should have charged the mound there, then Kenshin could’ve gone all Bruce Lee on him.

I voted for Logan to bat leadoff. I think he is ready for the chance. Put KJ in a spot to drive in runs. It adds another element to the offense, and at times this year; it may have been the only element. How I would like to see the line-up
Mac (Obviously needs to be healthy)
Way to go KK. Not just Lowe knowing baseball. In Japan they must know that you do not let your guys get hit!
Phillips hits the weakest possible nubber, right out in front of the plate. Ross throws him out.
Good, quick inning for KK.
April 26th, 20091:26 pm
Frenchy pops out to shallow center field on the first pitch from a guy who has shown no command of the strike zone.
Brandon Jones gets his first AB with the big club.
April 26th, 20091:27 pm
Jones draws a walk. Way to get it started.
Schafer at the plate.
April 26th, 20091:28 pm
In honor of the poll question, I really do think we oughtta give Schafer a whirl in the leadoff spot. The offense could use a spark (with yesterday being the exception rather than the rule, I think), Kelly’s not hitting well at the top of the order, Schafer’s proven he can make adjustments (at least so far), etc.
Plus, if you move Kelly down in the order, I think this offense becomes so much more potent and you can let Schafer use some of his speed to swipe a couple bags. And please get Krotch out of the cleanup spot. I’d like to see something like this:
Hitting Frenchy cleanup scares me a little, too, but he seems to be consistently employing whatever he worked on in the offseason…so, might as well see if he can do it in the 4 hole as well.
Logan nearly Frenchy’s the first pitch. Hits it out of play though.

What I was trying to post on the other blog but never could get it to go thru is that here lately, whatever the title or theme of the blog entry is usually the exact opposite happens. I wanted Dave to title this one No Way In HECK Braves sweep today but instead he went the other way, ergo, Braves won’t win today.
Of course I would love to be wrong so Go Braves!
April 26th, 20091:32 pm
Talking about DOB again..at bat songs. I asked you this a few blogs back.
Err Joe and Boog were talking about I mean…
DOB just got a shoutout from Joe and Boog for his musical tastes
DOB- Just checked in and your new poll on Schefer was already voted on. How did that happen? I just click on and have not voted.
April 26th, 20091:33 pm
Logan strikes out swinging on a high, inside pitch.
Ross at the plate.
The question for me on Schafer is not should he hit lead-off, but when should he hit lead-off. When the Braves were scoring tons of runs early and before Logan had his first adjustment, he needed to hit low in the order. Now that the Braves are struggling to score runs (yesterday excepted) and Schafer has adjusted, it’s time to start talking about giving him a chancet.
KK at the plate. KK strikes out.
Lay off the in-on-your-hands fastball when you have 2 strikes. OK, thanks.
They’re talking smack about DOB. Not really, just that he’s a rock/music expert.
April 26th, 20091:34 pm
Why are the Reds announcers saying that Jordan took HGH? I thought he was just suspended for being associated with it, not for taking it. Are they in the wrong by saying that he took it when he didnt?
April 26th, 20091:35 pm
Cooks Pest Control commercials are highly annoying..
April 26th, 20091:37 pm
Joe and Boog…much ado about “Steven Dust” versus “Seven Dust.”
KK just throws a nasty change, high and outside, that snuck under Bruce’s bat. 2-2.
April 26th, 20091:38 pm
Cookie, Cookie, here comes Cookie, Cook’s Pest Control
DOB, would you please send a mass email out to all the announcers of the opposing teams that Jordan did not test positive for HGH. Tell them you cannot detect HGH in the first place. Also tell them that he was suspended because of involvement with people surrounded with HGH. This is like the 3rd time I have heard announcers saying he tested positive for HGH.
April 26th, 20091:39 pm
KK walks Bruce to start the inning.
Encarnacion taps a nubber right out in front of the plate. Ross pounces on it and throws Bruce out at second. Nice play, Ross.
E on first, 1 out.
Limp Bizkit should do a cover of that Cook’s Pest Control commercial.
Jon – I believe you are correct and I would assume announcers could get called out for that mistake.
April 26th, 20091:40 pm
Wow that was a beautiful throw by David Ross!
Braves lose offense with Mac out, but Ross’ defense is superb.
April 26th, 20091:41 pm
Perhaps, Ross will win the job from McCann..just like McCann stole the job from Estrada
There’s no test for HGH so nobody knows if he took it or not, except Logan himself. I have a feeling though that that will follow him the rest of his career, much like Chipper’s hooter thing.
David Ross showing off that arm today huh?
Brandon agree…just like the “Logan sh*t”, and the” double pits to chesty” crap…some people need to get a life.
I’ll tell ya, Ross was a VERY good signing!
Hit and run. KK throws a ball just out of the dirt. Hernandez swings and misses. Ross GUNS Encarnacion out at second. It looked a little like the “Willie Mays Hayes” play from “Major League” where Hayes slides about 2 feet short of the bag and gets tagged out. That is how far Encarnacion seemed to be on the slide.
April 26th, 20091:42 pm
DOB Boog and Joe just talked about you music collection again. They said you were an expert on everything Rock n Roll. So, I will try again and ask if you ever got a chance to see the band “RLA” in ATL. Like I said, they played frequently at Smith’s Old Bar and a couple of shows at the Roxy. They got great reviews from several ATL mags and radio stations. Just wondered what your thoughts were about them.
Ross is a stud!
Blasphemy, CorkyBeer. Just for that, you can’t sit with us anymore.
Poorjeff… double pits to chesty is probably the most annoying phrase ever!!
April 26th, 20091:43 pm
Thanks Ross… you just saved Kawakami what coulda been a bad inning. Reds hitters chasing awful pitches helped too.
Hernandez hits a sharp grounder right at KJ. KJ makes the routine play and throws him out at first.
KK was wilder this inning than in the first. Threw alot more pitches. But, it was still a very routine, in command inning.
April 26th, 20091:44 pm
mcfann is still sleeping
I thought Bobby doesn’t allow the players to listen to rap music…
April 26th, 20091:45 pm
I would guess it is Jordan who listens to Paul Wall
See David throw.
Throw, throw, throw.
Catch and tag. Catch and tag.
Out, out. Sit down!
April 26th, 20091:46 pm
I say we just totally ignore Marrietta Derek’s DPTC crap completely. I have a feeling he’s getting a kick out of posting 200 times/blog because everyone keeps commenting on how much they hate it. Nothing but an attention seeker that annoys everyone to death just so they will give him some recognition, even if it’s from annoyed bloggers. Reminds me of a toddler who keeps acting up just to get attention. Rediculous!
KJ leads off for the second time in this game.
This time he hits a grounder to SS for the out.
The ever-excitable Yunel at the plate.
This V-Cast question segment has made it abundantly clear that Braves players have just awful taste in music.
April 26th, 20091:47 pm
I hate when out fielders dive for balls they don’t need to dive for.
Yunel smacks a solid line drive to left center. Taveraz makes a good play to record the out.
Chipper hits a long fly to the left fielder on the first pitch.
James Parr likes John Mayer
April 26th, 20091:48 pm
Wow, the Bravos didn’t look very double pits to chesty in that inning.
April 26th, 20091:49 pm
The answer had GOT to be Logan. No doubt.
Micah Owings been waiting to face the Braves for almost a year, he owns us.
Some may find Kotchi(no HR) hitting cleanup is bad look at Phillips, he’s under .200!
My posts keep getting eaten by the blog monster!
April 26th, 20091:50 pm
This V-Cast “Know Your Music” segment is the silliest thing the Braves Broadcast has come up with in forever. I’m going with McCann on Paul Wall though..
They should have a scouting report on the umpires
18 Wheels of Love
April 26th, 20091:51 pm
Methamphetamine…easily the best song off of The Search by Son Volt. Nice choice.
April 26th, 20091:52 pm
Gonzo..No surprise there.
Is gonzo going to be a free agent after this year?
I say the blog just completely ignores Marrieta Derek’s DPTC crap. It reeks of someone trying their best just to get attention, even if what they are doing is completely annoying. Just like a two year old. When my kids did this sort of thing, if you would just ignore it and not give in to givingthem the attention they are seeking, they would eventually quit. I’m thinking Derek is just a 12 or 13 year old who badly needs attention, so we all need to just ignre his posts!
April 26th, 20091:53 pm
I prefer Windfall to Methamphetamie, but they’re both great. I’m a fan of pretty much every Son Volt song.
Wow, it’s Gonzo! I’m surprised. I thought that was an easy one.
April 26th, 20091:54 pm
1:48=a@@h*%# has returned.
gonzo and soriano are free agents after the year I believe
April 26th, 20091:55 pm
Ha. DPTC. Is that an abbreviation people are using now?
Can someone please tell me why players when their up to bat…..sometimes can’t hold on to the bat?
Hanley Rameriz was up to the plate just a few minutes ago for Florida…and during one of his swings, he loses the bat as he swung and it went into the stands.
April 26th, 20091:56 pm
Gotcha McFann…LOL. I’m still trying to figure out how to do the smiley things on this new setup. I know it’s been with us a while, but I don’t post here that often and I’m just as apt to screw it up as to get it right….
Coach (2010 or bust)
That’s why Jose Reyes and Jimmy Rollins are all wrong for where they hit and the Phillies won the WS last season with their fastest player batting lead off and stealing 47 bases.
DOB..do you think we will sign both gonzo and soriano
oh, well ignore that last part of my post. I guess I just figured it out…
April 26th, 20091:57 pm
Man, Kawakami is looking really good today. Has the Red’s hitters totally off balance and is keeping his pitch count down. I love it when pitchers pound the strike one. Makes for a quick game when they are hitting their spots. I remember Maddux games would be over in just over two hours, because he just pounded the strike zone with pinpoint accuracy. Kawakami is reminding me of Mad Dog today.
That was a great throw by Ross to nab that runner! (Sorry–delayed, I know.)
Actually, McCann’s not sleeping. I saw him talking to Ross after that inning. Maybe Mac was getting some tips on throwing guys out.
April 26th, 20091:59 pm
Yeah, those smilies do take a little getting used to.
But yeah, you got it.
Coach, try to keep up. The post was in reference to some addled-brain wanting to hit Schafer at 2 ahead of Chipper. Please don’t make me start lumping you in with these other dolts.
April 26th, 20092:01 pm
Nscoots , shut your damn pie hole.
Brandon single. DP to C!
April 26th, 20092:02 pm
Kotch grounds out.
Frenchy had a pretty good at bat. Hits a fly almost to the warning track in straight-away center field.
BJones to the plate. 2nd ML AB for the season. Hits a solid line drive single to LF. Hey, he’s batting a 1.000. Put him in the clean-up spot.
I wonder if we ever will see Blanco called up
Thanks McFann. Hey, what can I say? I’m easily amused…
April 26th, 20092:03 pm
Congrat to the Falcons for great picks in draft. Coach Smith was at Gwennett Braves game the other night.
Hey, is the crack team of Bubdylan and McFann working on how to do the “sarcastic color” thing from the previous blog? I bet you can get some “Stimulus” money for that.
April 26th, 20092:04 pm
I wonder if the Braves are the slowest team in baseball
walk and a single for B. Jones so far in his season debut….
Francoeur gave that last ball a ride to the CF warning track. The power’s coming around for him.
