Who gives flippin fu*! if the Braves aren’t killing the ball tonight! They’re taking walks and Vazquez has really been one of the better pitchers in MLB so far this season, so take that all the negatears out there.
MF – don’t know if he’s gotten there yet, but since Ganderson was DLed, I think that makes Brandon eligible to play tonight.
Earlier this week a player just got traded to the Rangers, arrived at the park during the game, and had to pitch in someone else’s jersey because he didn’t have one yet.
Someone asked earlier about BMac having to go on the DL if he had corrective surgery. You really can see just fine as soon as they take those eyelid retractors (shades of Marilyn Manson) off and sit you up.
But, definite DL though, no strain or exertion until that corneal flap heals. Two weeks sounds about right.
They don’t care about all the dirt and stuff that could get in there and cause who-knows-what to grow however.
Thanks for the info. Yeah, I’m kinda with Spotts–if it’s only two weeks, they oughta do it. Can’t stand him hitting a buck-95. He needs this to be fixed.
Still wish he coulda played in this series, though.
Wil, you have to hit their best player. Right away. So he gets thrown out. Big deal. It’s great for morale, and if you think this team is headed for a WS, well you’re not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Whiskey, The Braves are not going to the WS because they didn’t retaliate against Volquez? Sorry, that makes no sense at all. In fact your whole statement is pretty ridiculous.
Hitting a player and getting your starter removed only a few innings into the game is unbelievably stupid, especially with our BP.
If Moylan walks this batter, I would bring in Soriano to get through this inning and the next. Then let Gonzalez pitch the ninth. Gonzalez is a little to wild to bring in here. He needs to come in with nobody on.
JJ, the AJC had a nice article on Kawakami’s translator a while back. You can almost certainly googler the link. He was getting a degree in engineering or architecture or something, I think, but his real passion is baseball, and so when the job came open, he applied. Really good story.
And yes, everyone, please do continue to ignore Yoji. Fools like him make my job that much harder overseas. Dude makes MariettaDerek look like a comic genius.
Man, Zack Greinke is on some kind of roll!! Another 8 innings no earned runs and 9 K’s. He hasn’t let up an earned run now in 42 innings dating back to last year!
I like Greinke a lot too, Steve, but not sure he could “easily” have a HOF career. Way too early, and way too many flameouts after a couple of seasons of excellence.
Would have preferred to see the Phillies slide continue, too early in the season to worry about being 4 games back of the Marlins.
I like listening to the games when Joe and Boog are calling them, they are good together…..plus it means I’m not having to hear Chip Caray. I would rather hear someone running their finger nails down a chalkboard than to listen to Chip.
So, the Philthies just did to the Fish what they did to the Braves in that last game in Philly. Other than those few “crooked number” late inning wins, they’ve been pretty disappointing. With Hamels looking shaky, I think the Philthies are going to have a rough season. They’re having to come back late in every game.
Right now, the Marlins are definitely the team to beat. The Mets starting pitching, while mediocre, isn’t going to stay as bad as it has started the season. Unless they fix some serious holes, I think the Phillies are going to have a rough year.
Some of you jokers should not be allowed to watch a game live, you can’t handle the pressure, perceived or otherwise. If someone was handing out ten dollar bills, you would be complaining they were not twenties…
Anyone think Dayton Moore (who used to work for us) has something young and exciting in KC? Won’t probably see what he is developing this year but he does have a nice staff with Greinke, Meche, Davies(yes the same Kyle Davies) and Bannister.
Put together a bullpen that has Cruz and Farnsworth which we both had at one time and probably the most underrated closers in the game in Soria. Glad to see that he left and is doing some good promising things up there in KC.
Now back to the ball game … guys we can’t lose this game! Come on bullpen!
