Tomas, all he has to do is average 6 IP per start. Before this start he had 18 IP in 3 starts, or right on track for 200 IP.

On McCann…
If he were to get a Lasik touch up, he’d have to go back to Atlanta, I believe. They would have to DL him so as to bring in a second catcher. He’s probably good to catch right now (even without the contact).
I suspect that they’re hoping the contact will do the trick once Mac has a chance to get comfortable. If not, when they get back to ATL, they can DL him retroactively to the last time he played.

I’m betting Schafer will get a chance with Kelly at bat. Take a chance. If you make an out, then KJ leads off the next inning. If you make it, you’re in scorring position with two out and a contact hitter at the plate.

we should all be keeping an eye on garret anderson. i cant prove it, but i’m pretty suspicious of him, having watched his lame efforts this year. i’ll bet within a week of coming back from the DL, he “tweaks” either his quad or calf. i just dont think he wants to play, and, at this point, i’m hoping brandon jones tears it up when he gets to atlanta, and stays here.

DOB, has Bobby ever said he was against a running game? I remember when Grissom was with the Expos, he stole something around 70-80 bases a year. When he came to Atlanta, he went downto like 30-40 per year. Is this just a philosophy of Bobby’s or what?

Anyone know what the deal with Kawakami’s translator is? I assume he was hired by the Braves, but does he literally follow KK around all the time or just for baseball activities? And what does he do the rest of the time? How did he get the job? I heard that he was a student from California? Is that right? Just wondering as they were talking about him a few minutes ago.

Yojii being translator for Kenshin Kawakami. Not hired by Braves. Hired by Japanese government. True is following literal Kenshin Kawakami around all day to record true factual statements. Even sleep in same room. What doing rest of time? Reading manga and wishing home in Kyoto. Getting job? Majoring in English at Osaka City University. Wanting to be dentist but not having grades. Was student in California. Visiting uncle one summer and take community college class. Hoping for Kenshin Kawakami to have much success then Yojii writing authorized biography. Fortune will be assured!

A friend of mine majored in Russian in college and at the time my thinking was like Ha! WTF would someone major in a foreign language, much less Russian? What a waste of money! …. Except for he got an internship at Redstone Arsenal straight out of college and got a full time job as a Russian to English translator within 5 years for the Defense Department and now travels the world and earns 6 figures.

Myrtle Beach won a close one, 1-0. Heyward/Freeman both 1-4. Cody Johnson 0-2 with 2BB and 0K. E. Osuna 6.1 scoreless, 4H, 4K, 0BB. Cory Gearrin finishes with 2 scoreless, 1K. Keep an eye on him, he may have a future in the Braves’ pen.
