I’ll have to think of a way I can exploit this new found knowledge when you head out west, DOB…it could be useful
Frank from KS
April 26th, 200912:08 am
Lmao @ DOB @ 11:59
April 26th, 200912:10 am
Random (midnight) … thanks for the editing. OK, give me your state. I’m guessing Georgia (duhhh).
April 26th, 200912:11 am
This board is starting to seem like a seduction scene from “You’ve Got Mail” or something. I’m feeling left out and unloved.
April 26th, 200912:12 am
I’d help you out, but let’s face it, you’re NotForMe…
April 26th, 200912:13 am
this is what happens when there is one girl amoung all the testosterone flying around…
April 26th, 200912:15 am
Bubdylan, LOL@ 12:05
cabravesfan, if you need any tips, just ask Bubdylan or myself or any other man on this blog. How you sneak it by DOB is the hard part. He’s always there!
April 26th, 200912:19 am
I don’t need to sneak anything- it’s all about collecting and exploiting for my benefit
Bubdylan 12:12 … sometimes, the simplest ones are the funniest ones.
April 26th, 200912:21 am
Your probably like 90% of women in that you like those arrogant, a**, alpha-type guys. Am I right?
April 26th, 200912:22 am
Tom O’Hawke (12:10 am): “thanks for the editing.”
You’re welcome — no problem. (But honestly, that was my initial reading of your comment. I thought you were being a smarty, before I re-read the whole thing. Then I thought it was funny.)
“OK, give me your state.”
April 26th, 200912:24 am
cabravesfan 12:19 … wow, the student just tried to teach the professor. Sorry.
April 26th, 200912:25 am
G’night. You kids be safe. Always wear a Norton.
Go Braves. Sweeeeeeeeeeeep.
April 26th, 200912:26 am
Bubdylan 12:12 … sometimes, the simplest ones are the funniest ones Tom
I thought so
April 26th, 200912:28 am
I have very little use for those arrogant, a**hole guys. I’ve got no problem with a shy, sweet guy that is OK with a woman knowing more about football then him. (I also have a thing for guys that wear glasses)
No worries…It’s a girl thing
TOM I think Random is a Tennessee boy, so I can see why he might be depressed.
April 26th, 200912:29 am
Random 12:22, As usual that’s a funny reply. You are very good. I was, however, thinking more along the lines of something that would appear on an envelope. You know, something that a postal worker would look at and be able to find a slot for.
April 26th, 200912:30 am
I’m gonna post something else as soon as I find my bi-focals. They’re twice as good as glasses yaknow.
April 26th, 200912:31 am
Do you have an accent? I also love a good accent
April 26th, 200912:33 am
“OK with a woman knowing more about football then him. (I also have a thing for guys that wear glasses)”
*runs back into the room*
So… the big fork in the end zone they kick the thingy through, how many runs does that give them? *holds out wildflowers*
(okay, I’m seriously to bed… not soon enough)
April 26th, 200912:34 am
Damn, cabravesfan, that’s definitely strike two. I have incredible vision. 20/12(left) and 20/9(right) They tell me, that with normal degradation, I won’t need glasses until I’m 122. Will you still be around?
Works for me
April 26th, 200912:35 am
How old are you now? I might be…
April 26th, 200912:38 am
Well…damn, that leaves me out of the running I guess. I wore glasses in HS but haven’t since altho I need to get in and have my eyes checked tho….
and good about not having any use for the jerk-types. I still don’t know why/how a lot of women fall for them…for example here recently…Rihanna and Chris Brown and the country music version….Mindy McCready and her ex-b/f McKnight.
April 26th, 200912:42 am
Frank (and Tom)-
I didn’t say glasses were a must…and Mindy McCready is not exactly stable herself
April 26th, 200912:44 am
cabravesfan … I have you by a year. I figured, earlier, about 8-9, based on you telling McFann that you were a little older than she. I’ll be 32 in September.
April 26th, 200912:46 am
Frank, it’s how a girl is raised as who they choose to be with. I’ve thought about this and that’s what I’ve come up with. Plus you throw in the hormone thing and it goes crazy from there. My girlfriend was raised right by her mom, but her dad didn’t give a crap about her or her brothers, so she’s real needy.
Yeah, Mindy’s been in and out of jail so much….it’s hard to keep up.
Nite all. Time for me to go to bed and turn on the vibrator after reading the last two pages of the blog.
You actually have me by a year and a half (not to get too nitpicky)- I just turned 30 in March- and I don’t know exactly how old McFann is but I figure 10+ years is still “a little” older
April 26th, 200912:47 am
have a good time!
April 26th, 200912:49 am
You know, I always thought I had some good things going for me, when it came to attracting ladies. I, also, knew that I had some bad things. However, never in my wildest dreams, did I ever imagine my great eyesight was going to work against me.
I’m not much older than you Mr. Hawke.
I’ll be 34 in July.
Run Heap Run
April 26th, 200912:50 am
lmfao @ nolie … that was a 3 pointer.
April 26th, 200912:51 am
Good try but McFann is like…16.
April 26th, 200912:52 am
TnRandom would be a good nick.
TNRandom would also be a good nick.
I think you need to lay off the commas my friend…and I said that glasses were not a must! But it would help if you had an accent…
April 26th, 200912:54 am
Run Heap Run-
I said 10+ years! There was a + there!
April 26th, 200912:55 am
Personally, I wish nolie and Random would stick around, a little longer. They seem to add a little sanity, credibility to this blog.
Although, Random is still probably around. He’s like DOB. He’s watching, always watching, waiting to pounce. Keep an eye overhead.
Tom O’Hawke (12:29 am): “I was, however, thinking more along the lines of something that would appear on an envelope. You know, something that a postal worker would look at and be able to find a slot for.”
Okay, now you’re trying to feed me straight line.
Pass. I don’t fish at stocked ponds.
April 26th, 200912:56 am
Is it just me, or am I starting to get real silly?
Coach (2010 or bust)
April 26th, 200912:58 am
random parrot, get a frigging life.
Just drink until you make sense again. It works for me
April 26th, 200912:59 am
GaChop Chop would be a good one.
GaChop GaChop has potential.
April 26th, 20091:00 am
I was watching Dr. Phil on Wednesday or Thursday (yes, I’m a fan of Dr. Phil’s)…well, anyway, he had a woman on who had been on before who was trying to escape a bad marriage where her husband had physically abused her.
I was getting pretty steamed watching. They showed bumps, bruises, every thing in the book on her that her husband had did to her.
I just see RED when I see or hear of a woman getting physically abused. I mean, ANY abuse towards a woman is bad….but it’s the physical that gets me riled to no end.
Jo Lo’s movie *Enough* was about a wife beater. I want to jump through the screen and beat the guy’s a**. That’s how passionate I feel about the subject.
April 26th, 20091:01 am
NHL.com is great. I just listened to the Sharks beat the Ducks 3-2 in OT to force a Game 6. Think of that, man. You get to listen to any game for free. That may be stupid for the bottom line, but it sure makes the fans happy.
April 26th, 20091:02 am
Chop Chop (12:52 am): “TnRandom would be a good nick.
“TNRandom would also be a good nick.”
Enough with the cheap shots, already! Geez.
Besides, I’m Random in ALL states — don’t fence me in, bro.
” think you need to lay off the commas my friend…and I said that glasses were not a must! But it would help if you had an accent…”
cabravesfan … I speak so much with my tongue in my cheek, that my friends think I have a speech impediment. Does that count?
April 26th, 20091:03 am
From the story on Mac going on the DL:
“Teammates said it would require a group effort to compensate… “We’re just going to have to pitch well and have timely hitting, that’s all you can do,” right fielder Jeff Francoeur said.”
I’ve often wondered why a team waits to “step it up” until a teamate is down for a while? Why not just ALWAYS play like that. I’ve thought the goal all along (with or without Mac) was to pitch good, and get timely hits?
If losing Mac to the DL was all it took to get this team on the right track, Bobby and Wren should have just put him on the 60 day DL while they’re at it.
I appreciate the guys realizing they need to focus and do what they can do in his abscence. But these guys are all being paid a ton of money. I think they should be able to do their job to the best of their ability ALL the time.
Imagine how the team would function if they “pitched good and got timely hits”, along with having both Chipper and Mac in the lineup? We’d be unstoppable.
Sorry for the sarcasm. Long day. It appears the Braves have righted the ship (for now) and that the Marlins hot start was more mirage than reality.
This division is gonna be a 4-way dogfight from the looks of it.
April 26th, 20091:04 am
Frank from KS …. I appreciate the respect. But, please call me Tom.
Tom O’Hawke (12:29 am) —
I live on the western boundary of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a mile or so from the AT.
damn- I forgot the Sharks/Ducks game was on! Have been watching crap for the last 2 hours…
I meant to say…J. Lo’s
April 26th, 20091:05 am
sorry, doesn’t count:)
April 26th, 20091:07 am
Get a sense of humor Coach.
Remember, if you can’t laught at yourself, you’re the only one around here who’s not.
Hey, Frank from KS. I know what I wanted to ask you before. I never realized, until a few years ago, and I considered myself good at geography, that part of Kansas City, is across 2 states. Is that a postal nightmare or what?
DOB, your 9:40 damn near made me spit my adult beverage on my monitor. THAT was funny.
April 26th, 20091:09 am
Okay Tom (Lol) ;>)
April 26th, 20091:10 am
“I was talking to Norton about his hitless start to the seaosn before yesterday’s game. He said he thought about trying to bunt the other day, “but there was no one to run for me.” DOB
Did he mean “in case” he got on base. Or did he mean to run TO first base out of the batters box for him?
April 26th, 20091:13 am
Random 12:55 …. You’re right! My bad, I’ll try not to let that happen again. If it does, please bring it to my attention.
April 26th, 20091:17 am
No, not really. At least, it isn’t for me, anyways….
but seriously…you really didn’t realize up til a few years ago that there was a Kansas City, Kansas AND a Kansas City, Missouri?
April 26th, 20091:18 am
Frank, my sister is in an abusive marriage. On vacation last year he starting drinking and mentally abused her in front of me. Well, he won’t be doing that anymore, at least when I’m not around. I’m with you on that. Beating woman, physically or mentally, animals, or children really brings out my temper.
April 26th, 20091:20 am
Random, sounds like North Carolina. Do you and scoots know each other, other than the blog?
April 26th, 20091:22 am
I knew I liked you for some reason.
April 26th, 20091:27 am
cabravesfan … I went to ginger ale, after my 4th beer. Then, thanks to your advice, I thought, what the hell, I have nothing going on tomorrow. So I’m gonna have a 5th, maybe a 6th. (Still too many commas?)
April 26th, 20091:28 am
Just a few:) You are making more sense though so something is working
April 26th, 20091:37 am
Ladies and Gentlemen, Your Currently Qualified Braves 2009 OBP Leader:
Jordan Schafer – .397
Your Current Walks Leader:
Jordan Schafer – 12
April 26th, 20091:38 am
Frank, I’m embarrassed to say it, but no. I always thought it was Kansas City, MO., only. I always wondered why they would name a city, “Kansas City”, and then stick it in Missouri. But, at the time, I was trying to find out if there really is a “sasquatch”. The city enigma, just had to wait.
P-Town Brave (Calling For Schafer To Leadoff)
April 26th, 20091:42 am
You had me up until the point that you dissed the Lake Show…I’m sorry…but I just can’t handle that…I mean you couldn’t possibly be a Clipper fan could you?!
April 26th, 20091:44 am
cabravesfan …. Would you suggest that I just leave out the punctuation?
PWHjort …. Have you e-mailed these stats to Bobby?
April 26th, 20091:45 am
I’ve already tried to start the “rally” so to speak about Jordan hitting 1st…
Also, I read that some feel that it won’t matter if he hits 1 because Yunel hits 2 and doesn’t take many pitches…However, I have seen Yunel take lots of pitches w/ the leadoff man actually on base in front of him IF he knows he’s going to do something…
2 keys there under IF:
1) Kelly is hardly ever on base now and certainly not when he leads off an inning usually
2) When Kelly IS on, he’s never a threat to steal anything other than maybe a hug from Glenn Hubbard
April 26th, 20091:48 am
I hope the KC in KS is better than KC in MO…one of the worst, most crime ridden towns in all of the U.S.
And before you ask, yes, I know…I stayed there for awhile before I ended up in St. Louis for school (one of the better towns IMO)…and now back in good old IL.
April 26th, 20091:49 am
P-Town Brave (Calling For Schafer To Leadoff-
Not a Clippers fan. Grew up a die hard lakers fan, in the time of Magic, Worthy, AC Green and the rest of the great ’80’s teams. The family got involved with another team and so naturally I became a fan of them. But I really can’t stand Shaq (he was actually my neighbor for a short time aslo) and I dispise kobe- I also don;t watch the NBA much anymore (have become a huge college fan in the last few years)- I watch players now more then teams
April 26th, 20091:50 am
at the rate you are going, that is not a bad idea
P-Town Brave (Calling For Schafer To Leadoff) … good points, but you left out the pat on the butt! (from Hubbard)
April 26th, 20092:01 am
can a 16-11 game really be called a “classic?” ESPN just tagged the sox/yanks game that way
April 26th, 20092:04 am
OUCH! Kobe is my all-time favorite next to MJ of course…got to watch MJ a lot up close since I am from IL. BIG Laker fan…whats wrong w/ Shaq though? I hear he’s a really REALLY nice guy.
I also am more into college ball than Pro ball…then again it helps having season tix to college games w/ no pro team closer than the Bulls 3-hrs away…that and gas and everything just being way too expensive to road trip it like I used to.
It is nice to find an individual of the opposite sex w/ such great knowledge about baseball AND basketball…I didn’t know women like you existed!
Good call on the butt pat…it seems as though Hubbard doesn’t do that with many guys…just Kelly and a couple others…That seems a bit odd, BUT if Kelly got more hits, albeit for Glenn to play grab-*ss all day long if he wishes.
April 26th, 20092:06 am
alright y’all I gotta get to bed…it’s been fun as always- good night!
April 26th, 20092:09 am
Shaq can be a jacka** (was to several of my friends when he played here, on several different occasions)- I also have season tickets to college (USC, naturally) and I have found that I like it a lot more then the pro game.
We do exist, we are just kinda hard to find!
And on that note I really am out for the night…
April 26th, 20092:12 am
cabravesfan … Good Night (notice the lack of punctuation please)
April 26th, 20092:18 am
P-Town Brave (Calling For Schafer To Leadoff
Don’t forget, when KJ was learning the 2nd base position, he and Hubbard spent a lot of time together. (in the words of Coach (or somebody), just saying …) Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Um, St. Louis is far worse in crime than Kansas City, especially if you count East St. Louis. As far as cities go I would consider KC one of the safeist.
April 26th, 20092:38 am
I just had the best idea ever. Colored closed caption to show emotion. They could come up with a code. Red for angry-sounding. Superbright red for very angry-sounding. Yellow for warm-sounding. White for cold. Blue for depressed-sounding.
I know, the hearing impaired are used to reading emotions in tiny details of expression, and can do that with the actors. But hearing people get both audio and visual clues to spoken words, and there are a lot of nuances achieved by the combination. Especially when someone looks one way and sounds another.
Colored closed captioning would give (at least a hearing person’s interpretation of) some of the audio clues to combine with their excellent visual instincts. IN FACT, and here’s why it’s brilliant, it would add layers of understanding to their visual clues. Because they would “hear” what kinds of voices go with what kind of faces in tons of combinations.
Beer makes me very smart. I’m staying drunk forever.
April 26th, 20092:46 am
I just stepped onto the front porch and shot a can of OFF with a bb gun from twenty yards out. It went CRAZY. Spewing and spinning all over the place.
I really was going to bed, but I saw an ant the size of a small dog crawling up the wall. When I tried to catch him in a glass (Biology instructor wants this type of stuff), I missed and he disappeared into some place devious. When I go to sleep, he’s gonna get me.
April 26th, 20092:53 am
Oooh! Oooh! The colored closed caption could have a color for sarcastic-sounding. How handy would that be, huh? That’s gotta be a tough one to read.
April 26th, 20092:59 am
Have any of you ever called your regular phone with your cell phone and talked with a phone to each ear? The little delay is way cool. I sing a song that goes “talkin’ to da self on da cell phone” if you say it out loud, you’ll see why it’s amusing.
Phonetically, it goes, approximately:
talkin’ to DA SELFONE DA SELFONE…
See it? Do you see it?
You don’t see it?
How can you not see it?
April 26th, 20093:16 am
Okay, better at least try to sleep. Maybe I’ll sleep on the porch. At least shouldn’t be any mosquitos for a five mile radius.
Bay Area Steve
April 26th, 20094:22 am
Wow. And I thought uga and I were the resident drunks.
Whoever said bubd got a little loopy on the weekends, good call.
Yet, still funny.
Random, also good stuff on what state you’re in.
April 26th, 20094:24 am
Yunel is made man, you have been warned. Any negative comment will be viwed as a threat to the cartel. Mr. Chip I suggest you bat straight handed and stop flipping when you are in the box. A true man is honest with his hands.
April 26th, 20094:29 am
My drunk adaptation of the bubd closed-captioning plan:
Blog posts by cabravesfan and Tom O’ Hawke in colors based on level of need and desperation.
Not that I would be any different, mind you. A 30 year old Braves’ and Niners’ fan, who rails against Fox’s Saturday exclusivity…anything over 100 IQ, and under 320 lbs (Yeah, I’ve got standards), and I’d need Nolies’ fictitious vibrator (what for, I’m not sure).
But, Good Lord, enough already.
April 26th, 20094:31 am
F’ Peavy, Save Yunel, Spend the freakin’ money.
Wait, is this December again?
April 26th, 20094:32 am
Me thinks Mikeal crabtree bestest pick niners ever take.I love Mr. singleharry he make me scream tooshdown all the time.
April 26th, 20094:35 am
To the folks asking DOB to stop usin’ anything remotely profane:
I really like how you went about asking him, and understand you’re reasons why. And, I hope he tries, and it seems he has.
But, damn, I like to swear. There’s that saying about not having any other vocabulary; I think it applies to me. So, I said all that to say: Anders is, or at least has been, a Dayn-Perry-level douche-bag.
April 26th, 20094:41 am
I would pay real money for a chart of everyone’s original blog name, with the variations that each of those folks used. Not a lot of real money, but real money.
I really seem to need to credit someone with these posts, because oftentimes they are exceptionally funny. But then, many times they are not so funny. Goo: not funny. Pablo: not funny (so far). Deion and DP to C: they grew on me, I can’t say why, other than I’m deranged.
April 26th, 20094:43 am
F me. A you’re/your mistake. Like bubd, I know when to say when.
Huked on phonicks
April 26th, 20094:46 am
Bay erria steve, stop cersin and spillin right. Phaq u and you and u aint sit. I pheel very intimited by your big vocabularry. Alcholism is a relijon most cant afford. Dont poke fun at successfull fundraisers just because they beleive in the exact opposite of post betty ford. I beleive in the pre betty ford. Drunk is only until the morning.
April 26th, 20096:24 am
Andruw hit a home run AND stole a base yesterday. I can not remember the last time he stole a base. Now hitting .409 with two homers.
April 26th, 20096:42 am
Wow, I bet the Dodgers really dont like him right about now.
Gil In Mechanicsville
April 26th, 20096:58 am
Now, if only the Rangers had a pitching coach to go along with their hitting coach, they could be all world…
April 26th, 20097:40 am
I’d like to see Jordan lead off eventually too, but don’t forget that hitting 8th brings a few walks with it. Would he have had 12 walks if he weren’t hitting in front of the pitcher?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
