My 2 cents on the plunkings:
1. Escobar did over-react last night. Say “thanks” for the free base, take it like a man, go to first base, and get your revenge with the bat.
2. Chipper was wrong to call out his teammate in the press. Keep it in the clubhouse. It’s the same syndrome we had with Smoltz, where these veterans think their status gives the the right to publicly rip their teammates.
3. Lowe was spot-on for retaliating. May not be “fair” (who knows if Escobar was hit on purpose) but builds a lot of respect in the clubhouse.
Ha! And now Esco gets hit again!

This is the worst umpire i’ve seen. FSN Reds say he is just a minor league umpire filling in. His strike zone is so inconsistent, he issued a warning, then Arroyo hits Escobar(who was the one that started all this yesterday), and he doesn’t toss Arroyo out of the ball game.

DirtyYuni, Joe Simpson (I think it was Joe) said he asked Escobar about any history between him and Volquez. Absolutely none; “I don’t know him and he doesn’t know me” was the jist of it; and Esco has never hit a HR or anything against Volquez. I can’t find any reason he’d have hit him on purpose last night.

Chipper told Escobar after the game, that there was no intention. They were not going to hit him to get to Chipper in a 1run game. Plus there was no history between Volquez and Escobar. Escobar has been hit because of what he does in the undeck circle, and the way he throws the bat after an at bat. I think it was the Marlin broadcaters that said that they felt Escobar was showing up the pitcher by doing that.

Esco’s on deck routine doesn’t have anything to do w/ it, especially considering he hasn’t even been doing that lately.
Not only that, a bat flip would only drive opposing ppl nuts if the guy hit a homerun and probably multiple ones at that…
Considering Yunel doesn’t hit many, that makes that a moot point.
Along w/ that, can I just say that I’ve listened to many broadcasters since I got the MLB EI package…
The Marlins would be in the bottom 5 along w/ the Nats, a couple others, and awful Hawk Harrelson of the White Sox…
The Reds broadcasters I listened to last night were outstanding…not too biased and know the game quite well.
