Same weather pattern as last night. Lightning and heavy rain in Charlottesville, aroun 3:45 – 4:30. Figure about 2.5 to 3 hours to get to stadium in DC. So, storm is right on time. Didn’t last long, though. Clear by 5 PM down here and now sunny.
Soriano now 6/6 “no runs, and at least one out) in relief appearances.
Thanks P-Town. I’m gonna rustle something up to eat real quick and pop the DVD in. I’ve been wanting to see it. Had to wait for DVD to come out because it didn’t come to any theaters near me. I’m doing same with Curious Case Of Benjamin Button as well. I already have Slumdog Millionaire and I know why it won. I also bought Doubt, good movie as well.
I have a different take on the problem: 1) You can’t win consistently if half of your starting 8 regulars should be playing in the minor leagues. 2) Bobby Cox is proving once again that he can’t coach young players and is clueless with his choice of relievers, in other words, he knows nothing about pitching.
We’ll see how things go the first time through the order…if it’s real bad, Rally’s friend might get scared and go hide somewhere off-site (she’s a little more skittish than Rally).
You cann interfere a little. I’m open to suggestions.

“Rally Turtle” hasn’t been very effective, McFann.
The team has basically sucked since that thing has been around. In fact, this team hasn’t been very good since some of us began coming to the ol’ blog. Maybe we all have to leave? Maybe that’s the ultimate slump-buster?
Maybe if the game can get started, we’ll see a better hustle tonight.
Last night the winning Nationals run reached base on hustle by Elijah Dukes on a bobble by SS. We led off the next inning with a worse bobble by the Nationals SS, but our runner didn’t hustle and was out instead of on 1st base with no outs. Won’t name any names but he’s the RF golden boy who won’t miss any time in the lineup.
No, I am not enamored by the play of our outfield; however, I think you make your own luck by being prepared and playing every play and every inning to the best of your ability.
Yeah, here’s hopin’ about BMac! Ya know, I was thinkin’, maybe he oughta get a Holy Card of St. Lucy and hang it in his locker. She’s the patroness of eye diseases, but hey, couldn’t hurt.

Tp wouldnot be my choice as the new coach when Bobby hangs it up. Tp reaLLY IS NOT A GOOD hitting caoch either. I wish Dale Murhpy could be persuaded to return to Atlanta as the new hitting Coach. And Keep Glavine as the new Pitching Coach. like in this year and go ahead and retire Roger McDowell to another team. Glavine could retire now and step right into the pitching coach position. He would be the one to get things in the bullpen straightened to win for us. And continue to keep our starting rotation going in the current right direction. And would be great to get Hanson up to us in the 4th spot, (Not the 5th spot), in our rotation. Glavine know how to win and Hanson could learn from him. Hanson is already now to start winning for us this year.
How ’bout taking a trip down to the old, or new sporting goods store, buying a MLB baseball, sign a bogus Matt Diaz name on it, wrap it up, and give it to your son?
If the ballplayers won’t sign a ball for your son, then why keep him so damn sad? Obviously it’s been eating at you. I’m sure you can keep a secret for a while can’t you? And when your son is old enough to know that wasn’t Diaz’s sig, he’ll never forget what his dad did at the least. The father is the best role model, not pro athletes.
It sure does suck what happened, but quit yiping and take the matters into your own hands. Sure athletes can be downright spoiled at times, but for the most part, I’m sure they’re just like you and I – either upset after a loss, looking forward to going out and meeting chicks after the game or just getting the hell home to families or the Playstation. Most of these guys have no other perspective on life than baseball. Most have no education past high school, and I’m sure most are humans like you and I and take things for granted form time to time. Just deal with it, and stop your son from seeing you like this man because I’m sure he does.

There are no Haiku police so unless you’re a lit major working on passing a course, no one really keeps score. Most Haikus Westerners have been exposed to aren’t Haikus in the strict Asian form.
The Braves will apparently be rubbing some elbows with Senators tomorrow. Hall of Famer Jim Bunning, a Senator from Kentucky, as well as the two Senators from Georgia Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss are scheduled to pay a visit to the Braves clubhouse to meet Bobby Cox and some of the guys.
TP’s failure at hitting coach is because he can’t understand why others can’t do what he did; Chipper should one day be a hitting coach because he can hit for power or just slap the ball to the opposite field for a hit.
Jim Powell was goofing on Chip and Mark during the fan call in. Using a really bad southern accent he ask them to explain the infield fly rule and if roast beef was ever included in the clubhouse buffet. Plus a follow up question. Chip bit hook line and sinker. When they got to the follow up question Powell cracked up and fessed up. Paybacks are he!!.

LOL, very true. The more I read and love all that stuff, the more I realize we don’t need it because it’s not doing anything more than verifying what we all already pretty much knew all those years from reading the three traditional stats and watching them run the bases, play the field, and hit in the clutch. But it’s always handy as an alternative argument against the fools who want to pass themselves off as so cutting edge because they think OBP is the sole measure of a baseball player, and who will never accept any argument based upon traditional stats and plain ole observation.

Plate discipline means swinging at hitters’ strikes, rather than pitchers’ strikes, as often as you can, regardless of the count. Plate discipline means gauging the game situation, the pitcher, how the hitter is currently swinging, and any number of other variables that might come into play. (Scoots)
no sir. plate discipline can also mean stepping away from the table B4 you eat too much. unfortunately I’m as bad at it as most as those dang ol’ Braves hitters
There once was a man named Bob Cox,
Who some say was as sly as a fox.
He would not retire,
And the Braves would not fire,
So he’s there ’till he’s cold in a box!

Of course the runs scored is going to be better in a conversion table with 2 on and 0 out than with 2 on and 1 out (Andy)
