Sorry MFin04 we only bunt in the 3rd innings of games.
April 17th, 20099:25 pm
Say what you will but Frenchy has had some good games hitting and does look better at the plate this season so far. I’m optimistic for him. As for some others i’m waiting for them to come around. Now lets go Prado.
Eric from MO
Mac is just in a slump. The first week he started off good. Its early in the season. In a month you wont remember this.
April 17th, 20099:26 pm
Agree Eric from Mo. or I would be a Right Wing Extremists and Homeland Security would put me on their @#$% list.
Now win this game.
WTF offense!!! Man, This is horrible to watch we are getting Clowned by the AAA pirates Pitching Staff…
On a brighter note, Peter Moylan’s ERA is down to 18
Eric from MO, can’t you teabaggers please check your crap when you are on this blog, I know it’s hard, but please stop. The Braves losing is not an excuse to bash the President.
Chipper can pitch hit tonight, right?
Boyer LOVES Cox
wow. i know its early but this team sucks right now.
What did we do to the baseball gods?

after such a good start that filled most with optimism…back to Earth and .500
Coach (Skip and Pete will be missed)
Yuck , another line drive out, inning over. We got no luck tonight.
April 17th, 20099:28 pm
Blog referee how did I bash Obama. What did I say? I said people will not bash him. How in the f*ck did I bash the President.
‘hawkin at 9:24 – Yeah, that ain’t gonna get it done.
Sheff just hit a game tying HR for the Muts…
I’m pretty sure if Frenchy was in the same slump mac was in this blog would be tearing him up….and mac is the number 4 hitter if he’s in that bad of a slump with Chipper out that = problems for the team.
MFin04 — I would guess because Diaz probably hasn’t had a bunt attempt in years. Its not an automatic thing that he gets the bunt down and Infante moves up.
I swear we bunted twice at the beginning of the game…with position players….why not in the 8th when we are only down one run? Makes no sense! Isnt there like a situation book or something we can send Bobby? Surely it says to bunt a runner over when down 1 with a runner on first with no outs.
April 17th, 20099:29 pm
I feel robbed of my last three hours of life. This is just sad.
Eric in MO…you are right…if you bash him…you will be called a racist…no way around it.
LT- A Blogger
Man- anyone else just see that Pirate fan on the broadcast? Looked like he just got released from the Pen.
50% chance that Mike Gonzalez gives up a run.
as most of you know…it also happened to be Sheff’s 500th!
In hindsight our best odds of scoring would’ve been a suicide squeeze when we had the bases loaded
April 17th, 20099:30 pm
Who’s the closer for Pittsburgh? Is he lefthanded?
April 17th, 20099:31 pm
Matt Capps, no. RHP
This is sucktacular.
What is Gonzo doing out there in the 8th inning?
I’m not even really that mad at the hitters. Kotchman missed a three run double but about four inches. Prado has hit two balls hard with guys on and they were right at somebody.
I mean what the hell? No luck.
We’re going to tie this damn game. I swear to God as my witness.
Game. This is just depressing.
Oh my. . .
April 17th, 20099:32 pm
GIVE IT UP BOY!
I told you Gonzo 4 day break would NOT be good.
Mfin would you look who was up? Diaz doesnt have a good chance at bunting. Earlier Prado bunted because its part of his game. Can you have one intelligent post before the season is over?
Bravos McCann has earned the right for us not to jump over him. We know he can hit based on he has 2 silver slugger awards and 3 all-star appearances. We know he can produce.
BALL GAME!! 5-5 record after the hot start. Had to know it wouldn’t last, but it’s early…
Game Over! Man This Team has been Sucks Right Now! Fck!
Oh what a closer!!!!!!!!! Gonzo is the man!!!!!!! Yes!!!!!!!!!!!
The so called Referee is exactly what you was talking about Eric..just say Obama and you are sh$#. Get a life this is USA the last time I was in Army.
This game is so NOT double pits to chesty!
100% chance Gono gives up a homer
Thats our closer? What a joke!!!
April 17th, 20099:33 pm
The blowpen is back, two run bomb. 3-0 Pirates.
This is getting a little old. Just no politics. How hard is it to understand? Don’t care what your view or side is as it doesn’t matter. The blog goes downhill everytime after someone brings it up. If you wanna talk politics there are plenty of blogs for that.
Bravos when did you say that?
But Its early (Doc H.)
Can we ask MLB to let us play some games at AAA level so we can get some wins?
Oh, and 15% chance of giving up more than one run.
April 17th, 20099:34 pm
Does using a closer in anything but a close situation ever turn out well? I gotta put that on BC. Gonna be even more painful if we score a run in the 9th.
So when if he just…work with we here cause I don’t even think it will happen this is just a scenario…happens to have an Andruw 2007 type year there would be no bashing because he’s a 3 time all star and he’s had 2 silver sluggers? Is that what your saying?
Gonzo’s not supposed to pitch in the 8th inning… EVER!
No surprise there. He’s engineered to pitch in the closer spot.
Did that really just happen? Gonzo can’t pitch in the 8th inning EVER. I just said that.
April 17th, 20099:35 pm
Maybe Bobby needs to perform the Double Pits to Chesty to get things going for tomorrows game. Would be worth seeing!
Atleast he isnt the closer anymore…he cant close…he cant even pitch he is done…and he has been for a while. The adrenaline is here…and his pitching isnt. Let him go…he just isnt very good. Might have been in years past…he isnt anymore
Another Good Start Wasted By Double J because of our Anemic AAA offense…
I hope Chipper sets these guys straight in the lockeroom tonight after the game since he’s the team leader, Nevermind that won’t happen
This is flat out embarassing!
Good Grief…..THIS CRAP SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 17th, 20099:36 pm
Bravos2249, your grammer is giving me vertigo.
What the hell is that crap?
-Gonzo never Gonzo about pitching in non-save situations
-McCann’s eye could become a problem
-Frenchy is our best hitter(avg)
-Diaz is one lost kid
-JJ will not have a sophomore slump
D P to the C
Oh well, they weren’t coming back down 1-0 anyways.
April 17th, 20099:37 pm
We can do this. We can win this game.
We are definitely not winning the division though. No doubt about it. We are going to win this game though.
Loaf Garret on a blackberry in the clubhouse eating a sandwich and watching the Angels game while singing The Way We Were
So, will the Braves extend Bobby Cox’s contract by Memorial Day again this year?
The only “bright” side is we avoid a streak of two road losses by 1 run.
Coach, Now You See Why I’ve called it the Blo-pen for the last 3 years…
Who Wants to Mention the “We should’ve brought back Ohman” like he could make a difference with this Anemic offense…
So, when did Gonzo declare himself a “9th-inning-save-opportunity-only” pitcher? I guess I understand (but don’t agree with) that basic mentality for a guy like Lidge or Hoffman, but I don’t think Mikey has quite earned it yet. Am I wrong?
He needs to forget the situation and get people out, if he can.
April 17th, 20099:38 pm
It’s early Brave’s fans, no reason to get all testy yet.
Do you guys think that Gonzalez and the Pirates have been planning this since the day they traded him?
Bravos McCann and Andruw are two completely different players. All Andruw wanted to do was pull everything and swing for the fences.
Mac is completely opposite of that. He pulls when he needs to and goes the other way when he gets a pitch that needs that. He isnt stubborn. Actually he asks for veteran players and coachs for tips. He will be fine.
Eric from Mo
I asked Carroll yesterday if something was wrong with Gonzo cause he hasn’t pitched since April 11th. She told me why would you use your closer in a game that he’s not needed. I told her that, Bobby will then bring him in a game that is close and he will blow it….whether we are leading or not.
Hence whether you need him or not 4 days IMO is too much to give a closer off…especially at the beginning of the year and certainly when your BP sucks.
Hamerin’ Hank! At least somebody can get a hit against the Pirates.
April 17th, 20099:39 pm
Someone call a doctor cause Doc Holiday is not feeling well
Well, that’s about it for me here in NL.
Offence average, but not terrible given the line up. Definately rather unlucky. It will come around.
Bullpen still looks exceptionally twitchy. Hoping it will come around.
Good to see JJ having yet another good, sollid outing. Just would be nice if he could get more efficient and therefor get his pitchcount a bit down.
Closing of with a nice stat folks: JJ still, in all his MLB appearences, has only allowed 15 homers.
At least, I think so, and going without stats at 04.00 am is a bit iffy.
See you next time out everyone.
If you was GM what would you fans do to turn this team around?
Does using a closer in anything but a close situation ever turn out well? I gotta put that on BC. Gonna be even more painful if we score a run in the 9th. —- LT A blogger
LMAO I am gonna quit defending him. He will always get blamed for everything. LT, If bobby brings in Buddy Carlyle, for example, you would say Bobby should have brought in Gonzo. It’s unbelievable. He is your best bullpen pitcher, he should be able to pitch well whenever he comes in.
About to get blanked by the bleeping Pirates, this is frigging embarrassing.
Kotchman must have dinner reservations. I dont know maybe make the pitcher throw a strike before swinging down 3 runs?
April 17th, 20099:40 pm
I know he will. I’ve stated I love McCann. I’m just stating he’s in a slump. The team really needs him to step up right now though, whether it’s April or not.
By the way, what in the world is Schafer looking at there?? Bobby must have told him to take there, God he is a terrible manager…
Pop-up, right on cue. I’ll give some of these players some slack as it is the beginning of the season but i’m tired of seeing it. Maybe we can square some balls up tomorrow. I’m out.
Schafer got 1-2-3′d and struck out looking tonight. (And, I haven’t even talked about his defense).
Cant Score a single runnnn…against the Pirates….poor jair, i feel sorry for the kid…..
Ok Bravos, was just asking. Didnt read the blog yesterday.
April 17th, 20099:41 pm
1-8 Hitting with R.I.S.P against the AAA pirates, and Maholm gave us chances…
This can’t happen the next 2 games…
Boy this is Ugly! Getting Shutout, but by Pittsburgh who had the leagues worst ERA last year…WTF!
Jordan had to get his strikeout in for the game.
First pitch swinging. Geez
Man- anyone else see just that Pirate fan on the broadcast?Looked like he just got released from the Pen.
It wasn’t Boyer was it? heh heh
brent. ans. yes
BallGame! Man this Team Sucks Right Now, Another good Wasted outing by JJ…Thanks offense…!
April 17th, 20099:42 pm
Kotchman: 2 RBIs in 10 games.
That works out to 32 on the season. If he sits out some games, it will be even less.
this offense is simply pathetic without Chipper. There is no doubt he is the key to the lineup.
Game over. Bright Side: JJ. Everything else was bad. So NOT double pits to chesty.
This was the 2nd or 3rd time LOAF ends the game for us.
well, heck, another great game. i could get that lineup out…
April 17th, 20099:43 pm
Sid Bream. F-Cab. Where the hell are you guys!?
What a bunch of S***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOSERS! JJ, you totally suck. Jurrjens just didn’t have his best stuff tonight. No wait, he did. He’s just got a bunch of douches playing behind him.
I love America now. I love the Braves, even if they lose to the Pirates! Gotta love it when a guy like Gonzalez can excel in this marvelous country.
Loaf Garret on a blackberry from the showers
Don’t worry guys, this is Pittsburgh. Plenty of slump busting opportunities here!

Everybody in unison now……. BRAVES SUCK!!!!!
We can get as frustrated as we want but we have zero control of what this team does, so just expect this team to be touch better than last because of the offense. Now, that could change if Chipper ever plays again, but that’s very doubtful.
April 17th, 20099:44 pm
Eric from MO
I just wanted to tell you the whole story..lol
I would have gave you the link but it would have taken me longer. I seriously did think something was wrong with him though, when he missed the whole Florida series. By the 9th inning in most of those games it was over anyway.
