GD GAMEDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! Just said Kelly walked, then switched to he grounded out, WTF!!!!!!!!!
Wow….no runs through 5 innings against the Pirates!! Sorry but I am going to take my entertainment time elsewhere. Like to Friday Night Lights. Good luck Bravos! Might be time to put Francouer on the clock if you catch my drift. That Alejandro guy is pretty good, never ever heard of him but pretty good. Seems many many guitarists good or better. But nice. Low key.
Rock on……All pale to Jimmy Page. Sorry.
What do you want him to do with the bases loaded and no outs other than swing away? Shall we have them try to squeeze with a force at home? What else is there.
And with a runner on second and no outs, a large fault for not getting the runner over is the batter’s fault. The batter should know that he needs to hit it to the right side.
I am not saying Bobby doesn’t do anything wrong but some of you guys are very unreasonable with your criticism. The old saying: The manager gets too much credit for a win and too much blame for a loss. Except on this board Bobby gets no credit for anything.
These are the games that make me furious seeing Chipper munching on gum or spitting chew in the dugout when his bat could be the difference. Not his fault he’s hurt, but I’m still mad.
April 17th, 20099:00 pm
Bobby………this is the time to call it a night for poor JJJ….your thunder braves are not hitting the HR tonight………this game is sooooooo over.
theme music for the Braves batters: Massive Attack
Doc…I think that’s more a statement of the Braves’ fans than the Braves…:)
April 17th, 20099:01 pm
Do you guys mind giving a score update?
April 17th, 20099:02 pm
Does Jair have to do everything? Can anybody else get a f***ing hit?
I wonder if the Braves might send Parr back down tomorrow to make room for Jo Jo. Just seems like Parr was an odd choice to bring up in the first place.
JJ doing it all today
man poor JJ pitched outstanding and probably gunna get the loss!!
April 17th, 20099:03 pm
with the bases loaded no outs you take some pitches…as Chipper once said it’s the pitcher that’s in trouble not you.
JasonInFL (Formerly ME)
Oh, and I have to at least give JJ his props…he has eased my mind a little…even though it is the Pirates, but his control is much better tonight…
Loaf Garret on a blackberry with little to no enthusiasm
Nice work there JJ and Casey.
Baracked the vote!
I have thought for years the braves have fielded a team that was poorly constructed for Turner field. it is a larger ball park than AFC stadium and more difficult to hit home runs..but the braves continually try to go for the 3 run HR..earl weaver style..not a bad thing..just not one suited for this ball park. no hit and run..no steals…
April 17th, 20099:04 pm
Braves are winning 14-1
They have hit 3 grand slams in the 8th……stay tuned.
Garrett Anderson's personal trainer
“Does Jair have to do everything?”
Pretty much. He even helps me rub down Garrett’s legs with linament.
I agree. And how is that Bobby’s fault that his players don’t take pitches? Its unreasonable to blame him for that is all I am saying.
Jay – 1-0 Pitt
April 17th, 20099:05 pm
Well at least the Mets have blown another lead. But on a good note good to see JJ going deep into the game. If we had gotten him at least two runs you feel good with Soriano and Gonzalez coming up and not having to worry about the dreaded middle relief. I may have missed if DOB said it earlier but do we know how long Esco may be out?
and on cue JJ issues his first walk after I mention his control (:
This is craptastic!
I can’t wait for Moylan to come in and walk the bases loaded.
That pitcher is not worthy of a shutout.
anybody have any problems with Francoeur at least?
APB out for Braves offense. Have been known to hit well with RISP. Missing since Wednesday.
April 17th, 20099:06 pm
zmerk13 – Bobby gets blamed for everything. What the hitters do, what the pitchers do, what the guys to on the field. Hell, he gets blamed for rain delays and rain outs.
Loaf Garret on a blackberry in the dugout googling Pittsburgh strip clubs
You think I should wake Bobby up?
>And how is that Bobby’s fault that his players don’t take pitches?
Because he’s the manager! I mean, what else is the decider good for? Making decisions and laying down the law.
Sorry to interrupt this nailbitter but the blog seems to be eating my posts…Your knowledge of Centre College makes me highly suspicious and your knowledge of Danville, KY even more so…How is this possible, and exactly why does it bring a smile to your face? (if this is like the second or third post, I do apologize)
April 17th, 20099:07 pm
120 pitches for Jurrjens
Bobby Cox is the cause of global warming.
Pit 1 bobby 0
JJ one hell of a job. should 0 to 0
Gwennett Braves score anyone.
Coach (Skip and Pete will be missed)
April 17th, 20099:08 pm
Seventh inning with Jurrjens still on the mound and over 100 pitches. Cox really wants this one.
The second inning, bases loaded, nobody out fiasco is looking like the elephant in the dugout right now.
Jurrjens deserves better.
Just think… Bobby was arguing with umpires, before Kelly Johnson was a glare in his mama’s eyes.
O-Me I know! This years team plays more like 1985.
Bobby should get out there and swing the bat for them! How is that unreasonable!?!?! Dammit Bobby!
Don’t worry guys, here comes the bullpen.
Ok, I have tried to post something for at least six times and nothing shows up, has this happened to anybody else?
Tn Brian, I will co-sign about your statement about Chipper…
Here Come’s the Blow-pen, and with this offense =’s Game Over! Hope they prove me wrong…
Bobby C. may have left Double J out there too long which is a first considering this offense has scored any runs…
April 17th, 20099:09 pm
Good outing for JJ. See if the pen can keep the Pirates under 5 runs this inning…
Pitty JJ leaves after two BB’s. But good job by him tonight.
LETS GET HIM THE NO DECISION!
Go go Braves bats?!
I think all of us, wherever we’re at need to give JJ a golf clap for that performance. 118 pitches and can’t even get the win. I say Bobby should skip his next start against Was.
April 17th, 20099:10 pm
what no last minute audition from Boyer?
When Schafer was up with the bases loaded he swung and missed at a strike on the first pitch. Would you rather him take the pitch? What would be the difference?
1995, you’re right my friend 1985!
It’s not Bobby’s fault…I didn’t know if you were responding to another post but I was just giving my 2 sense..lol
Hmmm Wild Thingz or Bottoms Up. I can’t decide.
April 17th, 20099:11 pm
Didn’t Moylan wear glasses last season?
We should have kept Jurrjens in the game. We need his bat!
Bobby goes to his nose, er bullpen, again. OK now it becomes a 4 or 5 to nothing game. Braves will rally only to come up one run short so that one run road loss record continues.
Way too many pitches for Jurrjens
not sure if moylan was the right situation here
April 17th, 20099:12 pm
but the braves continually try to go for the 3 run HR..earl weaver style – Baracked whatever…
Seems to me the Braves have tried to bunt about 3-4 times tonight, and they’ve hit the ball hard in some crucial situations, but either right at people or the defense has made great plays.
I just don’t get this cliche’, and Cox criticism, of “waiting for the 3 run homer.” Would like someone to point out a time when that’s what the Braves are doing.
Stupid fool can’t throw a stike.
Heeeeeerre we go…
Using Moylan a lot, I thought they were going to take it slow with him.
Like I was saying, Jurrjens still on the mound….the dugout phone rings.
Bobby Cox: Hello.
Pitch count Police: WHAT THE F*** ARE YOU DOING?? GET YOUR STARTER OUT OF THE GAME.
Bobby Cox: Mumbles incoherently…. OK.
And here comes the blowpen……
April 17th, 20099:13 pm
The problem is that we’re not wearing the blue jerseys. Thats why our offense is gone.
“Bobby Cox is the cause of global warming.”
It’s true!!! Flatulence (clubhouse chili).
LT- A Blogger
Pull him now.
TnBrian– Not watching the game, but ESPN Gamecast had him at 120 pitches. Not that two makes alot of difference. but its too many. No pun intended
April 17th, 20099:14 pm
6 more outs to get rid of this shutout, I don’t think it happens…Gawd this offense Blows!
GOOD JOB JJ and MOYLAN!!! Not sure what McCann said to Pete…but it worked.
Way to come back. Hooray!
Now lets score some runs. We’re getting shut out by the f****** Pirates!!!
My bad- nice job by B-Mac to settle him down.
Jurrjens threw a career-high 120 pitches, 72 for strikes
Gave up one run and four hits in 6-2/3, with two walks and seven strikeouts
April 17th, 20099:15 pm
I’m a bit troubled to hear Macs having issues with his left eye. Man what a bad day so far. McFann hopefully we see a dgang tomorrow.
Here are my major concerns re the Braves this year.
1. Pitch count. Look at the numbers. The other night the pitchers threw over 180 pitches. Compare this to some games where Maddox threw 90 pitches in a complete game. Tonight JJ has thrown almost 120 pitches in 6 innings. The only good thing about the pitch count is that Andrews will be kept busy with surgeries.
2. Left field. Who are we kidding. Three errors in the first 8 games. No speed. Injury prone. Huge weakness.
3. Chipper. Remember the days of Bob Horner and the bad wrist. Every year we would hope for a complete year. The same is true of Chipper. Chipper will do 90 games this year. You can not build a team around a star with a history of injuries.
These are the 3 reasons why 3 teams will finish ahead of the Braves this year.
Soriano better pitch the 8th
April 17th, 20099:16 pm
OMG, the bullpen has reemerged. At least for one out. 1-0 Pirates, time to get JJ off the damn hook.
Even if we were leading do any of you trust Gonzo after a 4 day lay off?
Moylan did wear glasses last season…I believe he had laser surgery over the offseason so he isn’t wearing them now, but don’t quote me on that…
Now Watch the Pirates set-up man and closer show this AAA team what a real bullpen looks like…
April 17th, 20099:17 pm
There We Go O…! Nice Hustle…! That’s what I wanna See! Fight for it!
April 17th, 20099:18 pm
FLA,NY losing PHI now only up by 2. Lets get a run PLEEEASE
C’s: Some people blame Bush for everything, now they will blame Obama for everything, so why not blame Cox he’s the mgr. the bucks got to stop somewhere.
Eric from MO
Bob Maddux threw less pitchers then any other pitcher. He is one of the best pitchers of all-time. Not really fair to compare any pitcher to him.
April 17th, 20099:19 pm
On the Bobby doesn’t know what he’s doing, wake him up’-discusions. Just imagine: he leaves JJ in, who strikes out (as he should, if you go by the numbers).
Quite a couple of denizens would have been going mentall, stating he should never have done that. Get your pinch-hitter in, it’s just a one run game, no need to bring him back with his pitchcount anyhow….
I’m not saying I’m a fan or not of Bobby, but this blog seems to be rather ‘rollercoaster-ride’ up and down on the smallest details going right or wrong. Anyway, that was my last 2 eurocents on it.
Now get that lead of runner home!
Man WTF!!! Matt? This offense Blows…!
Is Matty just gonna swing at EVERYTHING from now on!???!
Maybe Matt Diaz should start swinging at strikes or working the count. I like the guy but some his at bats frustrate you.
April 17th, 20099:20 pm
of course, diaz can’t f’ing bunt, so now it’s 1 one out with runner still on first… and of course diaz pretty much swings at every pitch.. just great
haha sorry Bravos I was responding to other posts up top.
April 17th, 20099:21 pm
Mac has really looked bad lately.
Who sees a homer from Frenchie here??
come on frenchy get a HR
Frenchy’s goin’ yard! Watch!
Loaf Garret on a blackberry in the dugout
April 17th, 20099:22 pm
Big ups to the Matt Diaz fans.
C’mon Frenchy! Jack one!
Ok even though Chipper is out I remember McCann saying this was the year he and Frenchy needed to step up…Frenchy hasn’t had a lot of power but has improved but I’ve yet seen it from mac….I love Mac but he has yet to live up to his words.
matt diaz can’t bunt at all, and swings at every single pitch.. .so 1 out
mccann is so cold right now, strikeout so 2 out
so much for the leadoff infield hit…
Whaddaya know! Life!
April 17th, 20099:23 pm
Singles or not Frenchy is locked in…
Why do we not bunt Infante over with no outs? He wouldve scored on Francoeur’s hit. Just doesnt make any sense.
Nice! Looks Like Frenchy was the only one who showed up tonight on the offensive side…That’s not gonna get it done…!
DOB – Do you know exactly what’s going on with McCann’s eye?
mac will live up though I’m sure of it…
but now is when we need it….and whenever Chipper gets hurt again…
April 17th, 20099:24 pm
Frenchy, 3 for 4. Good night for him.
MFin04_ I agree, we do an exceptional job manufacturing a run, don’t we.
Nasty Note about the braves being last in the league in runs scored from the 6th inning on…!
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
