Chipper Jones' personal assistant, Ted

April 17th, 2009
6:07 pm

Chipper will not be playing tonight. It has nothing to do with his thumb. His thumb is doing much better. No, the reason is when he just showed up in the clubhouse, he looked in the bowl of M&Ms that are supposed to be there (by contract) and guess what – they forgot to take out the brown M&Ms. Can you believe it! How can they treat Mister Jones like that. He is a hall of fame superstar.

Sounds like Chipper’s personal assistant would be responsible for brown M&M removal.

That would be great if Blaine Boyer went to the Rockies. Can you imagine what his earned run average might be? Over a thousand?

Boyer will be back! He throws hard and is way off his game at the moment as he is having a hard time missing bats right now. He will be fine. remember 162 games is a marathon not a sprint!

And just to add at least the thing with Chipper happened when he was in his twenties and was wild….now A Rod he knew better and is in his thirties and his ex-wife ain’t exactly ugly and fat.

This just illustrated what a tease Chipper is. He always sits in order to avoid a long term DL stint yet still misses 50 games every year. Anyone else see the problem with that?

I’ve got to agree with Doc Holliday. Though this team will be better than last year’s, due to the starting pitching being upgraded, the lineup still has too many holes in it, even with Chipper and Yunel in there, and the middle relief speaks for itself.

I’m not, by any means, giving up on the team. They’re my favorite and always will be. But it’s almost like the 80’s again where the starting pitchers have to almost throw a complete game shutout and hit a home run for the team to win. It’s not quite that bad, but last year’s bugaboos are still there… failure to move runners up when needed, lack of clutch hitting in late inning situations, poor middle relief, spotty defense. Not the marks of a pennant contender.

As everyone keep saying, though, IT’S EARLY!!!

CC,

Yunel is down, Campillo is down, hudson is down, glavine is down, Ross was down, GA was down, kotchman was down, soriano was down………… You just notice chippers absence more because he is the leader around. I have no problem with him sitting 5 games to avoid DL, what I have a problem with is to rush him and the reaggravations. Let the hand rest for 5 days if needed………no difference between 3 and 5 days……..cox needs to be more patient with him……….and chipper needs to be more patient with his body.

Yeah I have and it’s better than ours right now. Omar Infante in the 3 hole… I like Omar but are you kidding me??? Not to mention that PITT’s starting pitcher is another lefty so our lineup is already in a hole.

It's All About Timing

April 17th, 2009
6:38 pm

With business, it’s location, location, location! Marketing is timing, timing, timing!

And speaking of marketing and timing, I received a Braves Clubhouse Collection cat in the mail today. Had I received it on Monday, I may have been fever struck and immediately opened it up, pulled out my card and gone online and purchased something. After the Marlin series, I didn’t even open it up.

Sure I’m fickle, but it just goes to show you how many fans are. You put a product on the field that makes the fans proud you sell lots of merchandise. If the product plays like the Braves have the last few days……not so much.

Schafer To Earth

April 17th, 2009
6:45 pm

Schafer is coming back to earth now. It’s no sin, it’s just the fact that this is now the regular season and it takes big league clubs about a week to pick up on how to pitch a youngster who has a few holes in his swing. It was unreasonable to expect Schafer to keep performing like he did the first week. We will find out if he’s going to be a rookie success or a rookie bust based on how he adjusts to being pitched to his weakness. He better be a quick study. The major leagues chew up and spit out weak sister type rookies if they can’t adjust.

The only hitting machine currently on the Braves is by Norton 5000 cyber pinch hitting unit. I’m still working out the bugs as the hitting machine has failed to actually get a hit so far.

My dream is that one day, the braves lineup will be nothing but cybertronic hitting machines. Then my job will be easy. No more human beings and their jerky agents to deal with.

Marlin’s made the Braves look pathetic, but if the Braves can beat up on the weak teams, they can stay in the race. Trouble is, the weak teams have been kicking the Braves cans the last couple of years. In the old days, the Braves ALWAYS beat up on the weak teams. That’s how they won the division 14 straight. They didn’t always fare so well against the better teams in the NL.

Hope this isn’t a repeat of last year where the Bucs dominated the Braves. Losing a couple in Pittsburg would make things really ugly, really quickly for this team.

Tomas calm down. He is a rookie. Even great defensive OF like Mays and Andruw said it is really hard to be great defensive when you first come up. The stadiums are so much higher it is harder to find the ball and know how far the ball is going to travel. Schafer will be a good defensive outfielder, it will just take time or him to get use to the upper decks on the stadiums.
