Chipper Jones' personal assistant, Ted
April 17th, 20096:07 pm
Chipper will not be playing tonight. It has nothing to do with his thumb. His thumb is doing much better. No, the reason is when he just showed up in the clubhouse, he looked in the bowl of M&Ms that are supposed to be there (by contract) and guess what – they forgot to take out the brown M&Ms. Can you believe it! How can they treat Mister Jones like that. He is a hall of fame superstar.
April 17th, 20096:10 pm
Sounds like Chipper’s personal assistant would be responsible for brown M&M removal.
I just saw that Cole Rohrbough is on the 7 day DL for Myrtle Beach. Anybody know the story there?
Blaine Boyer will make history
April 17th, 20096:11 pm
That would be great if Blaine Boyer went to the Rockies. Can you imagine what his earned run average might be? Over a thousand?

Daddy Needs a Drink….
picked last in gym class
April 17th, 20096:15 pm
Boyer will be back! He throws hard and is way off his game at the moment as he is having a hard time missing bats right now. He will be fine. remember 162 games is a marathon not a sprint!
And just to add at least the thing with Chipper happened when he was in his twenties and was wild….now A Rod he knew better and is in his thirties and his ex-wife ain’t exactly ugly and fat.
April 17th, 20096:17 pm
Two Braves lead the NL in individual statistics today — Escobar with RISP (.700, 7-for-10) and Schafer in strikeouts (14, one more than David Wright)
That is one ugly lineup.
April 17th, 20096:19 pm
This just illustrated what a tease Chipper is. He always sits in order to avoid a long term DL stint yet still misses 50 games every year. Anyone else see the problem with that?
Statement of Kenshin Kawakami concerning Pittsburgh:
“Never once previously going to Pittsburgh. Smelling like New Jersey. No vending machines on corners to sell Suntory whiskey. What doing on Friday night? Most nothing.”
I’ve got to agree with Doc Holliday. Though this team will be better than last year’s, due to the starting pitching being upgraded, the lineup still has too many holes in it, even with Chipper and Yunel in there, and the middle relief speaks for itself.
I’m not, by any means, giving up on the team. They’re my favorite and always will be. But it’s almost like the 80’s again where the starting pitchers have to almost throw a complete game shutout and hit a home run for the team to win. It’s not quite that bad, but last year’s bugaboos are still there… failure to move runners up when needed, lack of clutch hitting in late inning situations, poor middle relief, spotty defense. Not the marks of a pennant contender.
As everyone keep saying, though, IT’S EARLY!!!
April 17th, 20096:20 pm
“That is one ugly lineup.”
Have you looked at the other guy’s?
April 17th, 20096:26 pm
lol David “do no WRONG” Wright has only 1 less K than Schafer….a frickin rookie….and he’s there 3 hole hitter…hahaha…that gave me a good laugh thank you for that one dude
April 17th, 20096:33 pm
Yunel is down, Campillo is down, hudson is down, glavine is down, Ross was down, GA was down, kotchman was down, soriano was down………… You just notice chippers absence more because he is the leader around. I have no problem with him sitting 5 games to avoid DL, what I have a problem with is to rush him and the reaggravations. Let the hand rest for 5 days if needed………no difference between 3 and 5 days……..cox needs to be more patient with him……….and chipper needs to be more patient with his body.
Personal Assistant-It wasn’t Chipper who pitched a b!tch about the brown M&M’s, it was Van Halen about 25 years ago. Lame.
Garrett Anderson's pre-game preparations
Linament, Ben-Gay, Preparation PH, massage, a nap, Clairol for men, more linament, Geritol, epsom salts, Lamisil, Pepto Bismol, more linament, Super Poligrip, lip balm, one more nap, a sixpack of red bull, and he’s ready to go.
April 17th, 20096:34 pm
Is there anything better then Brave’s Baseball?
April 17th, 20096:35 pm
““That is one ugly lineup.”
Have you looked at the other guy’s?”
Yeah I have and it’s better than ours right now. Omar Infante in the 3 hole… I like Omar but are you kidding me??? Not to mention that PITT’s starting pitcher is another lefty so our lineup is already in a hole.
On a positive note, I can’t wait to see Greg Norton PH in the 8th with 2 runnners on!!!
April 17th, 20096:37 pm
Doc Holiday — my point is we say the same thing at 3-4 different points of every freakin’ season! And voila… he misses 50 games anyway!
Chipper pitched a fit because the bucket of wings had no hot sauce.
It's All About Timing
April 17th, 20096:38 pm
With business, it’s location, location, location! Marketing is timing, timing, timing!
And speaking of marketing and timing, I received a Braves Clubhouse Collection cat in the mail today. Had I received it on Monday, I may have been fever struck and immediately opened it up, pulled out my card and gone online and purchased something. After the Marlin series, I didn’t even open it up.
Sure I’m fickle, but it just goes to show you how many fans are. You put a product on the field that makes the fans proud you sell lots of merchandise. If the product plays like the Braves have the last few days……not so much.
Greg Norton is 0 for 8
April 17th, 20096:40 pm
I can’t wait to see Greg Norton hit the food spread after a game.
You can burn a lot of calories sitting around waiting for something to happen.

Schafer To Earth
April 17th, 20096:45 pm
Schafer is coming back to earth now. It’s no sin, it’s just the fact that this is now the regular season and it takes big league clubs about a week to pick up on how to pitch a youngster who has a few holes in his swing. It was unreasonable to expect Schafer to keep performing like he did the first week. We will find out if he’s going to be a rookie success or a rookie bust based on how he adjusts to being pitched to his weakness. He better be a quick study. The major leagues chew up and spit out weak sister type rookies if they can’t adjust.

April 17th, 20096:46 pm
Hey. I wanted to come over and watch the game with you but I got to the stoop and someone barfed all over the place. I tried to find the super but nobody was around to clean it up. So I went home. I’m not gonna step in somebody’s barf.
April 17th, 20096:54 pm
I am not worried in the least bit about Schafer.. He will come around, and he also has two hitting machines (Jones and McCann) that can steer him in the right direction.. The kid will be fine, and he will continue to open eyes in the coming months (In a good way that is)..
April 17th, 20097:01 pm
and he also has two hitting machines (Jones and McCann) that can steer him in the right direction. (BFB)
oh yeah , like Francy did last year. I shoulda knowed dat.
Garrett Anderson's personal trainer
“The kid will be fine, and he will continue to open eyes…”
Hey kid, stay away from Garrett. You know he needs a nap before the game.
April 17th, 20097:03 pm
Jack Wilson scratched from Pittstown’s lineup with a middle-finger injury, from flipping off Flyers fans in town for the NHL playoffs (OK, kidding about that last part, but it is a middle-finger injury)
Fran ("Nutty Professor") Wren
April 17th, 20097:04 pm
The only hitting machine currently on the Braves is by Norton 5000 cyber pinch hitting unit. I’m still working out the bugs as the hitting machine has failed to actually get a hit so far.
My dream is that one day, the braves lineup will be nothing but cybertronic hitting machines. Then my job will be easy. No more human beings and their jerky agents to deal with.
April 17th, 20097:05 pm
that’s exactly what I was thinking when you posted. You beat me to it.
is JW being scratched good or bad for us..I..of course haven’t been following the Pirates so I don’t know how he’s been doing.

Trivia questions are no fun with the advent of the internet. Before the internet, you could post a trivia question on the blog and no one could look up the answer.
Um, before the internet there was no blog.
April 17th, 20097:09 pm
Wow, What a crappy first inning. Hope the rest of the night doesn’t bode like this…
Loaf Garret on a blackberry from the bench
I could’ve hit another double there…
What happens if...
What happens if one of the Braves infielders (2B, SS, 3B) gets hurt or has to come out of the game?
Who replaces them?
April 17th, 20097:10 pm
Marlin’s made the Braves look pathetic, but if the Braves can beat up on the weak teams, they can stay in the race. Trouble is, the weak teams have been kicking the Braves cans the last couple of years. In the old days, the Braves ALWAYS beat up on the weak teams. That’s how they won the division 14 straight. They didn’t always fare so well against the better teams in the NL.
Hope this isn’t a repeat of last year where the Bucs dominated the Braves. Losing a couple in Pittsburg would make things really ugly, really quickly for this team.
April 17th, 20097:11 pm
If Pittsburgh beats the Braves tonight I’m going to waterboard myself.
April 17th, 20097:12 pm
Never Thought I’d say this, but we are missing LaRoche’s bat since the Tex dilemma didn’t pan out as well as most thought when that trade was made…
April 17th, 20097:13 pm
That ball was juiced. Off the wall in straightaway center, triple for Freddy Sanchez
Yeah Gitmo, and I’ll get in a box with a bug.
April 17th, 20097:14 pm
Ok I’m not trying to be mean but last year Joe used to BAD mouth Blanco when he chased balls to the wall but he doesn’t bad mouth Schafer…well never mind he just did…..well Boog brought it up
Sanchez tripled. That’s dirty.
Loaf Garret on a blackberry sipping gatorade from the bench
April 17th, 20097:15 pm
I wish my people would learn how to spell my name.
April 17th, 20097:16 pm
Man Are they Playing Danzig for Ryan Doumit…? Good Sh..+, Nice getting out of it by Double J…
April 17th, 20097:17 pm
If the Braves lose I’m going to fly coach in a middle seat between Bob Wickman and Chad Paronto.
gitmo brave…THAT made me laugh. Wasn’t planning on being around tonight, but we’re getting hammered by a snowstorm here in Denver. About 16 inches of snow and its still coming down..big time. I love baseball in the Rockies in April
folks, does anyone know where one can catch a live stream of the game? myp2pforum.eu does not have the game streamed.
Tomahawkin other than his last 3 months with us, LaRoche aint much better than Kotchman.
April 17th, 20097:18 pm
Schafer needs to learn to play those balls off the wall. That should had been a double, and Hermida’s triple should have been a double too.
April 17th, 20097:20 pm
OK is that fuzzy eye not important for his CATCHING ability too?
April 17th, 20097:21 pm
LaRoche has a low amount of doubles and high K’s but he does have 3 HOMERS
Anybody checked Francouer’s avg? That’s not a typo, is it
April 17th, 20097:22 pm
Jeff is probably back to his ‘07 form, which is definitely a good thing, but I’m still not sure that Wren won’t be looking to get a big bat in the summer.
McCann’s left eye?? OH SH**!
Loaded with none outs for Kotchman after Prado sends one through the left side of the infield.
Kotchman can give the Braves a nice lead here with a knock, just a single would do….
April 17th, 20097:23 pm
BASES LOADED NO OUTS!!!
Blaine Boyer's Live Tweets From The Pen
Well it’s a beautiful night here at PNC Park. The seats in the pen are kinda hard, but I know I can get up a throw a few if it gets to be too much. Just hope I don’t have to throw any real pitches in anger! (that was a joke)
Hey look! We got a rally going! Maybe if we can score a few run, I’ll get a chance to pitch.
BTW… the over/under on us having enough runs to allow me in the game is 10.
Why would you have Prado…who can hit bunt for Casey….I mean I know Casey has hit a little lately but just what Prado did proves he didn’t need to bunt
Yeah that is pretty scary stuff re: McCann. That’s one of those things that can completely derail a player. Let’s hope it isn’t serious.
Gamecast says strike 2 on Kotch was waaaaay outside
I cant take it anymore
April 17th, 20097:24 pm
David…I just heard joe and boog talking about something being wrong with Mac’s eyes or eye.
Did I miss something? I’ve been out of service for the last week or so.
Tomas calm down. He is a rookie. Even great defensive OF like Mays and Andruw said it is really hard to be great defensive when you first come up. The stadiums are so much higher it is harder to find the ball and know how far the ball is going to travel. Schafer will be a good defensive outfielder, it will just take time or him to get use to the upper decks on the stadiums.
April 17th, 20097:25 pm
How about “Lunging Casey” as a nre nickname?
that was an inch away from a three run double
I think that happened to Frenchy last year..let’s hope to God he doesn’t have the type season Frenchy did…
Loaf Garret on a blackberry from the bench was just wondering..
April 17th, 20097:26 pm
DOB if you were a baseball player what would your intro song be?
April 17th, 20097:27 pm
Just our luck foul ball that would’ve cleared the bases if it was fair…!
Casey, Come ON!!! Do Something…WTF, This offense is Garbage without Hoss…
Man that was wierd on Another Shattered bat, I thought Dud Selig and MLB was going to address that in the offseason…
boy that was a weird play…
And Eric, on the internet/blog thing… I was trying to achieve subtle humor. Obviously, not very successfully, LOL.
My song would be Welcome to the Jungle
April 17th, 20097:28 pm
I hate the infield fly rule, at least in major leagues. These guys should be able to catch a infield flyball. If they cant, they dont deserve the out.
Wow. Loaded with none out, and fail to score.
Is it really Chipper and Escobar’s fault that Wren didn’t put more RHH on this team…I THINK NOT!
I mean they are hurt but sheesh it’s nt…..well that was just..AWESOME
April 17th, 20097:29 pm
oh ok mbatl
Open the flood gates on the Schafer bashing……
I was trying to achieve subtle humor. Obviously, not very successfully, LOL. (Mbatl)
too subtle likely. try a pile-driver
Damn It, Offense WTF…Thats gonna be a turning/deciding point in the game! Way to give the Pirates momentum back guys…!
Bases loaded-no outs-no runs!
Ladies and Gentlemen, your 2008 Atlanta Braves never left!
Just like our 5-4 record . . .
don’t look at as if the Braves blew a chance with the bases loaded, look at is the Braves getting the first three men on in the 2nd.
Only Bobby Cox!
Painful half there. We just missed three runs, don’t they say this is game of inches?
Boyer LOVES Cox
April 17th, 20097:30 pm
I almost regretted benching Schafer in my fantasy line-up (why I ever had him is another issue); but, hey, maybe I guessed right.
April 17th, 20097:31 pm
hey guys, ATLEAST I MADE CONTACT!!
It seems like the scouting reports has it nailed down to pitch Schafer low and away til he makes adjustments…His avg may sink unless he starts hitting to the opposite field…
Nice, Phil Colling being played for LaRoche…
Bobby…we hit the ball really hard but at people…..braves players fundamentally unsound
bases loaded no outs, and they don’t score.
April 17th, 20097:32 pm
we have Frecnhy, Prado, Infante, Diaz,…it’s Bobby’s fault if he puts 2 lefties back to back in the lineup …I’m just saying
Sure would be nice if we had our Superstar bench sitter in the line up tonight with his right handed bat!!!
April 17th, 20097:34 pm
What the hell is up with all the triples off of Braves pitchers?
Schafer just gave up another triple, but you knew that.
geez, Schafer really has played 3 doubles into triples in the last 2 games. He’s gotta learn his limitations.
ANother Triple….and he’s different from Blanco how?
Come On Jordan….! Shyt…Play the Effing Carom off the Wall…! Dammit!
April 17th, 20097:35 pm
Oh That was Pretty by KJ… Nice…
Umm that would be your superstar turning Doubles into triples which turned them into runs
April 17th, 20097:36 pm
Ok I know Schafer is only a rookie but let’s face it-he misplayed that ball. It should have been a double. The apologies for Schafer are getting old about huis defense. He is in the majors-he can take some criticism lol
So when does Shafer figure out that his job is not to chase balls he has no chance to catch to the wall then chase them back toward the infield?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
