You mean, Cox himself should just release them and the Braves should pay off all their guaranteed contracts, then bring up guys from the minors to fill their spots?

DOB – Actually, I was thinking maybe the HOF manager could just tell the players to work the count. But, I guess he’s too busy teaching them how to bunt. Wait, they don’t know how to do that either.

Did I mention that Monroe was a free agent before Spring Training? And why the hell do you walk LaRoche when he has been awful today…and pitch to a guy…that hit a 3-run homer…an inning or two earlier? Bobby has got to go…this is just awful baseball.

But its early.......right? (Doc H.)

Id say that if the phillies were not struggling sooooooo badly and it was the muts and not the nats in the schedule the last weekend………….we would be facing an 0-11 record right now…………easily.

And whoever suggested bringing up Hanson is crazy. I don’t want him to catch what the rest of this team has. Jojo has caught it bad enough. i wonder if Jojo is thinking if he could have gotten a better performance from his AAA offense. Probably wants to go back.

looking really bad today, we miss Chipper and Esco like nothing else. Bench may be good but not good enough to be everyday players. Schafer is now realising what it is to be a major leaguer, I really hope it turns it around quickly. We may have good starting pitching this year but you can’t win ballgames without scoring a run.

shafer wasnt ready. he didnt need to start just yet. frenchy is exactly what we thought he was.
chipper cant stay healthy. kotchman is the worst first baseman the braves have ever had.
the relief pitching is the worst in baseball.
the braves will end up dead last and have the worst record in baseball.

Can we summon Superman? The Man of Steel? Where the hell is he?

Hey Superman, there you are. Can you fly around the earth backwards about a thousand times so we can go back and keep Josh Anderson because I think we kind of jumped the gun on this rookie who is so totally still not arrogant.

“I hit two bombs and kept trying to hit the ball 800 feet… ”

Jordan, you hit two balls into the front row at Citizen’s Bank Park. That’s not hitting a bomb. They were like pellets from a BB gun.

You suck. You suck at the plate. You suck out in center field. You suck sitting on the bench.

And Chipper and Yunel are capable of sucking as well. I’m not sure things would be all that different up to this point.

OK, so this is not good, definitely. But can we cut the histrionics about “heart” until we get a good look at this lineup with a healthy Esco & Chipper in it? When those guys get back, it’ll take some pressure off the rest of the lineup and by extension the pitching staff.

It’s hard to score runs when two of your offensive catalysts are on the bench. And that has a ripple impact up and down the lineup, and puts pressure on the pitchers to be perfect every tie out.

This is bad, but it will get better once we get our horses back.

Braveheart, All very good points. Would you agree that Chipper MAY have moved to a new level of fragility that just might skew some of your numbers?? Do you really believe that owners and GMs have not noticed the degree of slippage with this guy– (LouVales)

OK get off it Lou. You’re as bad as the GOO GUY for running things into the ground sometimes. By Chipper’s current age Eddie Matthews had 5 straight mediocre years and was retired for a year.(I’d credit Moby’s post last night but I’m the one who told him that ) The guy is doing ok for his age but without steroids he will have a normal aging span.
Many of his injuries have not even been related to agiong. Anyone can get jammed badly and that span of games he missed a few years ago from that collision could have happened to anybody. The same time he was sitting out an oblique two years ago Holliday from Colo was sitting out the same thing. He has definitely had some bad luck involved. I will grant that it might take a little longer for him to heal the last few years, At least you aren’t making totally asinine statements like Boyer /Cox did.

I think I hate everything about this team…I hate it that JF has resorted to swinging at everything they throw at him…I hate it that KJ has decided that he’s a power hitter and lacks patience as well…I hate it that McCann may be the worst defensive catcher in the game…I hate it that Kotchman is as slow as I am…I hate it that Terry Pendleton doesn’t seem to have any positive influence over any hitter he’s ever coached…I hate it that GA doesn’t want to be here and I wish he would get his wish…I hate it that we don’t have a single relief pitcher, or any other kind for that matter, that can dominate anybody…I hate it that we’ve made a series of poor trades over the past four or five years that have cost us prospects that are doing well someplace else, and even when we do make a better move we lose patience with a player and let him go for nothing (Aybar)…I hate it that Francoeur wasn’t even close to backing up Schafer on that ball hit to right-center that spun past for a triple (and it looked as if JS let him know it as well, more of which I’d like to hear)…I hate it that Diaz is worse than JF ever was at swinging at pitches he can’t reach (must be that that ’something90X’ diet must impair his judgment)…I hate it that here we are, barely past mid-April and these players act as if they’re already out of it…and I hate it most of all when I waste a good part of a day or evening watching these guys stink it up again….and I’m sure there’s plenty more that I hate but since I’ve turned the game off maybe I won’t be reminded of them.

You know, if you had told me a couple weeks ago that Frenchy would be leading the team with a .326 BA after 11 games, Soriano is healthy and effective, and that our starting pitching would be consistently pitching fairly deep into games and putting together a lot of quality starts, I think I would have believed we’d be pretty good.

Of course, then you would have to tell me that not a single other everyday player that isn’t injured is hitting above .244 and there’s not a single guy in our bullpen that can reliably get guys out other than Soriano. And then I’d feel like I do after seeing today’s game.

I am now convinced that this team does not have a good offense. We rely to heavily on only a few guys to carry and inspire good hitting out of the others. Every aspect of this team right now is terrible, except the starting pitching, and they are still having trouble with pitch counts. I am at a loss. I have never seen this team play so bad. Jordan is young yes, but he has become quite frustrating to watch at bat and in the field.

Look at the pitch count again….over 130 pitches thru 7 innnings…what is mcdowell telling these guys? take maddux’s numbers out of the equation and compare mazzone’s staff pitch counts with mcdowell’s staff counts…i suspect that you will see an average increase of 20% per game…this is why the injuries are up. give mcdowell an early retirement incentive

and, what is pendelton doing with the braves hitters pitch counts….has terry actually helped a single braves batter in the last two plus years?

if this team goes 10 games below 500, then changes need to be made…but none will be made because mgmt is too respectful and too cautious
