And the wheels come off the JoJo express!
To all the Cox fans: If he’s so damn smart.. Why can’t he demand his players work the count every single at bat? (And if they refuse, then cut ‘em loose?)
Does anybody find it funny that 2 of or best hitters right now are bench players???? Prado and Infante
Come on, BMac! Get a hit! Schnell!
Sorry I forgot to tell you how to bold stuff. I’ll get you the link in just a sec…
Schafer looked like a kid wathching that ball drop into the bullpen.

Two down, one to go for the sweep. You guys are pathetic, but I guess from reading the blog that you are already aware of that fact. Looks like a big Aarg! to me. See you tomorrow. We will have our cutlasses and brooms in hand for the sweep. Thank you for making my weekend so pleasant. Have a great day.
Sorry guys, June has come early.
Tomahawkin I agree, he deserved better, but when gets back out after we get 3 outs on 5 pitches, doesn’t really help him out.
JasonInFL If I do, I’d be a poor dude. Can’t believe just one week changes this team so much…
I though Jo Jo pitched OK and deserves to be left in the 5th spot. He got a tough break n the ball hit to Schafer and the one hit back up to him that hit him.
Has anyone else noticed that over the last few years there have been multiple changes to the lineup, rotation, and bullpen, but we still achieve the same results…?!
Yeah, thats right, I’m looking at you coaching staff!
April 18th, 20092:08 pm
I know everyone will think its crazy…but if that triple is not misplayed, Sanchez is on 1st with one out, the infield is not pulled in, then that hit off JoJo’s leg is a FC at best and with 2 outs we get out of the inning. JoJo would still be in the game down 1.
You’re right, Frankie. That thought entered my head as I saw that.
I feel bad for our starters becuase they feel like they have to be perfect out there. The performance of this offense the last 3 games is just pitiful. We can’t do the little things which should have been something that was stressed for this team since we knew we didn’t have that big homerun hitter in the lineup. Their defense isn’t even moving. It’s to easy right now for other teams. I mean we can’t even get a hit accidently.
But its early.......right? (Doc H.)
April 18th, 20092:09 pm
2 sweeps in a row…………way to go bobby………keep your guys swinging for the fence……..embarrassing……………. Im so tired of this maybe it will be good for this franchise for the mets to win it all to give executives a wake up call………… if nats finish ahead of them in the standings…………they would deserve it………..at least they are beating the marlins……..not scared……….
This is tough to stomach
Chop It Up All-star
Hilarious that they are advertising for Braves season tickets after the team has just gone down five runs and have lost four games in a row and will most certainly lose a fifth in a row to go a game below .500.
This team has no fight in them, it’s truly sad to see.
April 18th, 20092:10 pm
Face it, we’re a pretty bad team either way DOB…
The entire coaching staff needs to go and we have needed that for some time now…
After this long its become impossible for me to say Bobby should get a free pass!
I just posted the same thing you did…….. guess we are on the same page
April 18th, 20092:11 pm
3 quick outs (Mc, Kotch, Frenchy).
Sorry guys, June has come early. God
Heh, this made me chuckle. Thanks big guy.
Boy those were some sad little outs – weak grounder to first, pop out to first and roller back to the mound. Tough to watch right now!
This team is going nowhere. Assuming Chipper misses his usual 45 game, at best we’ll go 15-30 in those. So to get to 90 wins we’d need to go 75-42 in the others. Uh, no chance of that. Another year of looking up at the Phils, Mets and now Marlins. Can’t wait for Frank Wren’s spin on the young guys being close. Maybe we’ll have a shot in 2011.
This is a record, it’s the earliest my only real interest is whether Cox will FINALLY retire and let the team move forward.

Don’t worry guys, we got the night off tonight, you know what that means…time to bust some slumps!
Oh, and once again I will state how extremely sick of the ho-hum “its just another game” and there are plenty more attitude by Cox.
REALIZATION: This attitude rubs off on your players…they then don’t care about games in April, which then leads to the team not even being in the picture come All-Star break.
Great mindset and motivational tool there Bobby!
FINE! Just BE THAT WAY!!!
Oh good. Not sure why it italicized. Yeah, BJ had a very good game.
Sorry I forgot this before! Hope you’re still reading the Blog and cann get this link:
How to make bold and italic words
Hope it helps!
That because you would rather have KJ who is the worst 2nd baseman defensively in all of baseball to cost us 2 games a month because of the horrible defensive play. Do you remember the Phillies game?????? Do you remmeber the Marlins game????????? Lets just leave him at second and let prado ride the bench. And lets leave a rookie out in center field to break the all time strike out record for a rookie in his first month. DOB and DP to the C. Every thing is perfect lets not change a thing. LOLOLOL
Watch Bobby now make a pitching change and bring in another pitcher.
7th inning retch
Boyer LOVES Cox
i dont know why everyone on this board thinks that 4th place is a given…. the nationals are off to a very slow start but they have a much better team than last year. if we lost 90 games this year that could be enough for last place.
April 18th, 20092:13 pm
This Team Looks like the AAA Braves of 2008 and not the Braves we saw in S. Training and the first 6 games…
10 hits through the last 16 innings ain’t gonna get it done…
April 18th, 20092:14 pm
Buddy Carlyle is the braves best pitcher at the moment
Buddy fans Morgan.
.206, I…I can’t…take this…it’s too…sad…
April 18th, 20092:15 pm
“Braves are a pretty bad team without Chipper and Escobar in the lineup.”
Yup. It’s going to be tough to win a division considering the two best players on the team(in my mind) is Chipper and McCann. One, a catcher, and the other, an oft-injured third baseman. We’ll need some good luck. Haven’t had that in a while. 2005, to be exact.
I hope Heyward and Hanson can grow up fast, We need new blood next season.(players&coaches)
Buddy is in, we have a chance!!
JasonInFL (Formerly ME)
April 18th, 20092:16 pm
a lefty that has been tough in his 1st two starts on the hill tomorrow…the braves better pray they have both escobar and chipper in the lineup…if they don’t, it could be two consecutive sweeps…how embarrassing would that be…to get swept by the Pirates?
This just in: Braves need an OF bat…
April 18th, 20092:17 pm
Just bring up the AA team here and sack these morons right now !!!!
sorry if someone has already posted this but lets say schafer starts 140 more games this season and he continues at the pace he is now.
he will have a 255 Ks by the end of the year.
April 18th, 20092:18 pm
Is it a rule when one struggles we all must? No one picks up anyone else. They all start to press. Really missing Escobar and although I know they play the same position it still would have been nice to have a professional hitter like Renteria. Don’t want Renteria bcak, just want someone like him. That guy almost never seemed to slump with us. Looks like the bullpen may be the least of our worries.
This sucks like an Electrolux
Oh Mommy…make it stop. This is sad and boring. It seems every year the team gets duller.
There is video of Wheeler pitching here. I think his curve is pretty nasty.
Also, here is Keith Law’s video on Tyler Matzek, a possible pick for us. (Steve)
thanks for the links Steve. Both look pretty decent though I liked Matzek better from those short videos.
April 18th, 20092:20 pm
Just bring up the AA team here and sack these morons right now !!!! Sam
You would make an excellent GM. You should post your resume when a spot in the front office opens up IMO.
Injuries or not, this is pretty much the team that will be on the field the rest of the year. Chipper and Escobar being in doesn’t matter one way or the other (they were in during the Marlin series and the final result was still the same).
And don’t give me this “The Marlins are a good team” stuff after it took them extra innings to beat the Nats in game 1 and are currently down 6-2 in game 2. The Nats have scored 8 runs in two games while it took the braves 3 games just to score 7 .. just saying.
No, their good stretches will be when they win 2-3 in a row but for the most part I figure most of their games will become losses. And denying it won’t make it any easier.
To all the Cox fans: If he’s so damn smart.. Why can’t he demand his players work the count every single at bat? (And if they refuse, then cut ‘em loose?) — Jeff321
You mean, Cox himself should just release them and the Braves should pay off all their guaranteed contracts, then bring up guys from the minors to fill their spots?
No problem for the wait. Thanks, I hope it (bolding your name) worked.
Cox's Post Game Press Conference
Its just another game, just another loss. There are 151 of them left and its a long season. I’ll be happy to run the same lineup out there tomorrow and hope the boys have it. I know some of our bullpen guys have had some troubles, but I’ll also keep pitching those same guys and hope for a change. We need to get Chipper healthy again so he can play for a couple weeks and then re-injure something, and we need to get Casey up in the order because he’s a terrifying power hitter. Oh, and before I forget…LOVE the defensive effort on the part of Kelly Johnson. He’s just a tremendous talent in the field.
I’ll be happy to take your questions now…
I’m tired of bloated baseball management wasting our precious resources.
BOBBY COX MUST GO!
FRANK WREN MUST GO!
Time to get these clueless doofusses out of office and get someone who will be more responsible and will represent the fans.
WE spend the money that they use to run this team. They do so on OUR DIME. Time for them to show us fans some respect.
April 18th, 20092:21 pm
Long fly to Frenchy, followed by infield hit, which didn’t quite bounce up off the dirt.

Like I said, aim for CF.
Anothe double off centerfield fence for Doumit. 6-0.
FIRE TERRY PENDLETON. No exclamation point necessary. He should be fired. This is such a feel good, tearjerker organization. Why isn’t anybody held accountable for this s***?
Another great play by Schafer. Hey, retard… don’t run all the way to the wall you dumbass!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And the hits just keep on coming…6-0.
BTW, Jordan might want to consider playing a little bit deeper.
April 18th, 20092:24 pm
Play a little shallower Schafe!
Bring up Tommy H and let him learn his ropes on the Big Squad…if Tommy G retires, there is no reason to not let The Future start now. Arb clock be damned…
Schafer looks like a high schooler, chasing one misplayed fly ball after another.
Schafer Must be playing to shallow…When your Struggluing on Defense the ball will always find you
I agree with D.O.B., Schafer is playing too Shallow…
Embarassing! We are Getting Clowned!!!
I dont know where my post went but I just mentioned that a few minutes ago…………
KJ………….swinging for the fence everytime up………..you are the freaking leadoff hitter………..you dumb head…………get thef_________ on base.
GA——– I dont care about your 2 doubles———you ssssssssss__________
Braves have changed player year in year out…………TEXEIRA, LAROCHE, ORR, WOODWAR, MILLER, BJ, HARRIS, THOMPSON, BOYER, DEVINE, SMOLTZ, GLAVINE, HAMPTON, KYLE, RAMIREZ, JAMES,………… AND SO ON…………… tons of player………..same spirit……….
the only thing in common is old bobby……..and his stooooopit philosophy……….wait for the HR. sickening patience on “promising” players……. Then they sent Devine away too early IMO.
Even Schafer is swinging for the fence……….thats because thats the smell on the club house…….thats bobby philosophy. He has infected Schafer with his stooooooopydyty…….
I have to confess ………when we were playing the nats……….even them looked more aggressive than we have against pitts.
We make every single pitcher…….no matter if it is the 5th in the rotation………look like Gregg Maddux.
Prado out like a mile on 2b………I suppose it was a hit & run, but, do you call a hit & run with a hitter with 11 K on his last 10 ABs?
JoJo and his 5 inning syndrome……..same as James. Just can complete 6 innings……..thats out of the question……….that epidemic from guys in our minor league system. I wouldnt be surprised to see Hanson walk that same path……..5+ and out of there.
April 18th, 20092:25 pm
Schafer crushes into the wall again.
3 run homer to center for Monroe. 136 – 0.
I agree with P-town … this team is poor even with Chipper and Escobar in the lineup. Their back-ups are two of the better hitters we have. The holes are in all the other places (LF, CF, 1B, in particular) plus McCann is slumping and KJ cooled off (not to mention that he should play LF).
Ryan Doumit is a pretty good hitter, folks.
Craig Monroe isn’t, but HOLY MACKEREL! Two three-run jacks.
Man! This just Pains me to watch! Blow-pen getting Clowned now
my jaw will not shut
One last question: How can one team look so damn good through the first 5games and so damn clueless/awful/atrocious/pathetic through the next 6?
April 18th, 20092:26 pm
TP has nothing to do with our pitching………….which is not doing the job either. And he has nothing to do with our defense…………which looks like high school defense……..
NO HEART = 2009 ATLANTA BRAVES TEAM
Another single for Andy L.
man is this a replay?
April 18th, 20092:27 pm
Same results since 05 w/ a ridiculously different cast of players each year since…How is it that Cox doesn’t get ANY of the blame?!
And while I type the merry-go-round keeps on going…Who put the last quarter in?!
This is flat-out EMBARASSING! Can’t Bobby just retire already and take his flunkies with him?!
Oh yes lets walk Adam to get to the guy who has already hit one homerun today because he surely will not hit another.
This Is so Nasty it’s Funny…! I haven’t seen the braves so lackluster in awhile
There might be some changes in the lineup tomorrow
Mercifully This inning is over!
Loaf Garret on a blackberry jogging in slowly from LF
Holy $hit the score is 9-0?
At least after today, we won’t go down in standing anymore. We found our home at 4th place. That’s what we are right now…….
April 18th, 20092:28 pm
Foul pop to third – good inning for Buddy (if you don’t count all the balls off and over the centerfield fence).
The Pirates are getting curtain calls…This is very bad.
when showalter called the braves his sleeper pick, i didn’t know he meant DURING the game
The bullpen still sucks…needs fixing Buddy aint getting the job done either. So we get rid of Boyer, Bennett and Buddy, and Gonzo….we need some pitching in the pen. We also need the guys to work the counts…and a power hitting bat in the lineup. This offense is only slightly better than our bullpen.
This is embarassing. I hope their all soaking it in because if they have any pride in themselves and want to continue being called a major leaguer their needs to be some changes quick. The only one who has a legitimate excuse is Mac and I hope they figure out what is wrong with his eye. Hope its nothing serious.
Time to invoke the mercy rule.
I am pulling for Schafer but like DOB said he might be playing (or is being set up) too shallow. It doesn’t matter of course when Monroe is hitting them over the wall.
April 18th, 20092:29 pm
Is there a way to argue against mets fan in atlanta now? and anders? ………..NO………… our team is no better than the muts……..PERIOD.
who says baseball games are too long, i’ve not had to watch a braves game for more than 2 hours all week.
This team would make an awesome industrial strength vacuum cleaner. They suck that hard.
I must be dreaming. The scoreboard doesn’t really read 9-0 in the favor of the Pirates. It can’t. This is the new and improved Braves. The one with a revamped lineup with the “professional hitter” GA in the 3 spot. It can’t read 9-0…
I hope neither team scores now. 9-0 is the official score of a forfeit, and this team forfeited trying.
Man I miss the days where we used to beatup on teams like the Pirates…
Karma is a B..tch, PNC Has been a house of Horrors for the Braves, I wonder what is our record there since it opened in 2001…?
It seems like the pirates always play us tough at PNC park since 2001…
April 18th, 20092:30 pm
DOB, we are all homers here but your homerism is blinding you my friend. if you dont know what a joke bobby cox is then you have no business covering baseball. he has lost it. you know it, i know it and by the teams play the last couple of years, even they know it.
This definitely isn’t a replay of last night … it’s last night-squared
I completely agree w/ you Doc…
Also Chop it up sums it up perfectly…this team has no heart and no desire…
And they get that from Old Man River in the dugout…
HANG IT UP BOBBY!
April 18th, 2009
Where did you come from?
Its all a fog, all I remember from this series is Schafer running wildly towards the centerfield wall…
After a very good opening week, a terrible second week.
April 18th, 20092:31 pm
Hey guys, I have this game recording on my DVR. My question is; should I watch this game when I get home? Is it exciting?
“One last question: How can one team look so damn good through the first 5games and so damn clueless/awful/atrocious/pathetic through the next 6?”
Identity crisis through the first 5? Nobody was picking them so they were out to prove them wrong but since then they have gotten use to the idea and have settled in nicely???
COX MUST GO!
Wake up ‘ol grandpop and give him a gold watch or something.
Clueless poser over his head. He couldn’t run a Mickey-D franchise.
Wren and Cox must go. But off course this is falling on blind eyes. It’ll be another year of the old fart BC talking about how “we played well today, you have to tip your hat to them”. I am so sick of the same old s— for now the 4th year.
McCann is going to go on the DL to get a lasek eye surgery adjustment. He ran into an abrupt slump because he can’t see. Bowman has had it up on the blog for a little while
who is worse – the braves team or the braves announcers?
Announcers brag on adjustments Jordan is making in center only to watch him miss play a single into a triple and then once again run to the wall and misplay a double. Then the announcers note that the braves are doing a great job of preventing homeruns by the other team – sure enough 2 homers & counting (?) follow
This team has a will to lose & these announcers are such pathetic idiotic homers. Oh yeah, also noted that Jordan had tweaked his left wrist as an explanation for his not hitting anymore. What a bunch of wusses
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
