THe Braves are going to want to see a good deal of Hudson by the end of the year so they can evaluate whether or not to excercise his option, if he looks like he's back and throwing his pitches and getting the groundballs as usuual, I expect they will keep him on in 2010, now that said, what if Vasquez say goes 16-10? Do you try to trade him thinking Hudson is back, but the question is, if Vazquez can be had a few million cheaper, why would you opt for Hudson over him when Hanson is waiting in the wings? We know too the problems Huddy has had with the side muscle pulls. I believe Carpenter went out of yesterday's game with that problem. If Huddy can't look like the old Hudson by the end of season I don't believe Wren will roll the dice if Vasquez remains solid. I think it is foolish to base any arguments at this point on Huddy's past performances coming off his surgery.

The lack of small guy pitchers could be from the curse of the radar gun. So many scouts and college recruiters use velocity as a measure on whether to give out a contract or not. Big guys just tend to throw at a higher velocity on average than smaller guys. Also for a small pitcher to throw at the same velocity as a tall pitcher requires more torque on his body and thus presumably more injury prone.
