Well Jeff Ive been listening/watching since 1966. Boyer has had a horrible start and what happens to him is yet to be seen. You didn’t respond to my question after I answered yours. You said Boyer and Bennett “obviously didn’t belong on he roster”. Are you going to respond, Turnip Man? “I’ve been watching since 1982 and am a very good judge of talent. That said of course thats just my opinion.” Can you spell oxymoron Jeff? And please list you qualifications as being a good judge of talent.
Boy – Soriano looks real mean and intimidating when he is on. Just what you want of a closer.
April 12th, 20094:19 pm
Anybody besides me think Schafer looks like Emenem? (or however its spelled) Especially with that hiphop style of wearing the hat.
Rob from SC
Schafer has no fear of the wall
theres that rook with the great catch
Wayne in Utah
I think you’ve already had your exam. The doc said you were missing most of your brain.
So, what is magic about 1982, besides being a subject of a Randy Travis song? I started watching the Braves (actually, it was listening back then) since 1966. So, does that make me 16 years smarter than you???
Your getting in deep water. You talk like you know a lot, but for my money, it is all Barbra Striesand.
Speed + youth = good defense
Schafer can go get it, can’t he? Wow.
Range by Schafer. Nice.
April 12th, 20094:20 pm
Great Defensive Plays by the kid today. Way to go Schafer!!!!!!!!!!
Eminem, that’s how it’s spelled.
“Well, I’ve been watching since 1982 and am a very good judge of talent! With that said, of course its just my opinion.”
with credentials like that, why aren’t you on a direct line to BC in the dugout and Fw?
I am 100% for the closer by committee with those two guys. I think they both have what it takes and that could be a very strong weapon.
Jen in GA
PEARL, Miss. (AP)—Atlanta Braves left-hander Tom Glavine ended his minor league start with Double-A Mississippi early on Sunday after experiencing shoulder discomfort.
April 12th, 20094:21 pm
Jeff still thinks Cox is trying to sabotage this team, despite the Braves staring at 5-1 here to start the season. Really…
Coach (Skip and Pete will be missed)
Bullpen ERA so far is 7.08, the starters ERA are at 2.67, enough said.
5-1 , it’s all good.
Braves win, Braves win, Braves win!
April 12th, 20094:22 pm
Has Boyer become the next McBride?
Great first week everyone. The team showed us this weekend that Wednesday has been forgotten.
nice stuff from sori today
You Distort/ We Deride
Glavs hurt his shoulder swinging the bat, not pitching. He’ll be fine.
Nice finish Raffy!
Well done. 5-1. Bring on the fish.
April 12th, 20094:23 pm
Way to go, y’all!
dvillebravesgrl aka brvsgrl4life
Soriano is da man! Braves win 8 – 5. Good job guys.
Glavine’s aching let’s hope he becomes the next great Wally Pipp. Waiting on Hanson!
First week a rousing success.
April 12th, 20094:24 pm
Whatever the situation calls for, but in this division with all the great lefties I think bobby will favor Gonzalez more unless he just blows up. Still nice to know you have Soriano right there ready to close if that does happen. Sweep.
brvs1fan – Sorry, but I already responded. Since I’ve been watching since 1982, I feel qualifed to judge talent and express opinion. Now, if you’ve been watching since 1966 and don’t feel the same way — I don’t know what to tell you.
He does look like Emenem a little bit, good call.
April 12th, 20094:25 pm
Soriano might be the biggest surprise out of everyone on this team when it’s all said and done. With all the questions about his health/attitude, if he can keep doing what he’s been doing the last few games, that’ll go along way towards getting our guys back to the postseason.
Grea job by Raffy and the entire bullpen. Hopefully something good will come out of that debacle in Phillie. These guys are pros and I think will learn something from that embarrasment.
i like someTom Glavine… I hope he can come back and be great… but on the other hand when will he hang it up ya know
April 12th, 20094:26 pm
Apparently they need to get McCann a new Sunday catching helmet.
JJ 2-0 in this young season. He gets in and out of trouble somehow but keeps us in the game. He is only going to get better.
And I can’t wait til Tom Hudson comes back…
Wayne in Utah – Do you get the idea that if one of the “Negative Nellies” had sex with their girlfriends, and she didn’t have an orgasm, that somehow it would be Jeff Bennet’s fault?
Not bad for the first week!!
April 12th, 20094:27 pm
Oops, I dozed off for about 10 minutes. Can someone update me on what happened to Mickelson?
chip off the ol block
great sweep for the Braves, very impressed with the bullpen today, they came through when they needed to, Jordan showed his D skills today, he was off on the offense today but we werent hurt by that much
April 12th, 20094:28 pm
Tim… dont know where i got Tom hudson from, lol my bad
UGAMan, he got a double bogey eariler, and is now hitting.. i believe -8
If Glavine can’t go for just a start, I say you have to give a strong look at Carlyle. If Glavine is out for significant time, I say give Hanson the chance.
April 12th, 20094:29 pm
Key largo… hilarious… but you might be RIGHT!!!!
Lefty hit it in the water on 11 and double bogeyed.
Uh very, very, weird analogy there, keylargo.
And I agree with whoever it was who doesn’t like the red jerseys. LOL @ Mac talking about his “blazing speed” … hey, he’s faster than GA or Kotchman.
was the double bogey on 11? I saw the tee shot was way right, but didn’t see the rest of the hole.
April 12th, 20094:30 pm
Jeff321 no you didn’t respond. See your comment @3:50. I responded to that and have “woosed” out. Man up and answer the question or STFU.
Great one! (most humor has a basis in fact, so it is probably true!)
April 12th, 20094:31 pm
i was paying attention to the game during that, so didn’t catch what hole it was, but he hit in the water, missed the shot for bogey and then hit it in for the double
they just said it on tv, it was hole 12
April 12th, 20094:33 pm
Last season the Braves probably lose these last two games. So far this season the Braves are getting hits with runners on, with runners on & 2 out, and in later innings. All of these things were lacking last season.
Scoring late runs helps the pitching staff and can buy time for the pen to come around which it will do.
I know this is off the subject but Im glad they got that caption who was being held by the pirates! what a great easter for him and his family!
Well, K.K. won yesterday, J.J. won today. Aye aye, Bravos!
April 12th, 20094:36 pm
Nice first week. While I am not yet willing to make any bold statements about our team (hitting, starters, pen, etc), things are looking up.
But, it’s still early. (not quite yet ready to name Logan Schafer the next Willie Mays or Grady Sizemore)
April 12th, 20094:37 pm
>why don’t you convince us why you are capable of determining who “obviously doesn’t belong on this team”.
I have responded twice to the same question. Its not my problem if you don’t like the answer.
Bill in VA
Jordan O’Flaherty looked fair today, IMO, too.
April 12th, 20094:38 pm
I luv me some red jerseys. Y’all gots no taste at all.
Schafer has Ty Cobb ears
April 12th, 20094:39 pm
Just a reminder for Directv customers that they have superb coverage of the Masters on channels 701 thru 705.

But, it’s still early. (not quite yet ready to name Logan Schafer the next Willie Mays or Grady Sizemore)
I don’t know, Wayne, but Len Miller of ESPN might not agree.
April 12th, 20094:41 pm
Win, win, win….
Kids creating wind that’s got this kite at MACH-IV and climbing.
Glavine hiccuped, bring on Hanson!
April 12th, 20094:42 pm
Jeff321 @ 3:50 paraphrased “don’t answer my question with a questio. > Answer me and i’ll answer you”. Again see your 3:50 response and respond accordingly.
And Betty Davis eyes…
April 12th, 20094:43 pm
Shouldn’t you be pointing us towards the porn channels after that sexually laced analogy?
Braves 8 for 8 w/RISP today!
April 12th, 20094:44 pm
Braves looked good for the most part over this weekend, but man – the Nationals are going to have one long season. Something I had noticed in the other two games that was even more apparent today – the Nationals are a bad defensive unit. Lots of plays where the Braves were able to get extra bases.
April 12th, 20094:45 pm
I respect the contribution that Glavine has made to the Braves over the years, but I don’t want to go through last year all over again. I know the Braves have several pitchers to fill in, but he supposedly came back because he didn’t want to go out on an injury last year.
Give him until mid May, and if he’s not able to come back, the Braves should move on, and give the roster spot to someone else.
I didn’t notice Schafer’s ears that much, Braveheart, although it does kind of appear to me that Kotchman sort of shares the same ears as Mr. Spock.
brvs1fan – If I didn’t intend on responding – I wouldn’t have baited you. Kindly give me the time of the question or repeat it. (Because believe it or not, I have responded to the only question I saw twice.) But, I will respond again just to make sure you see it this time.
April 12th, 20094:46 pm
I know this is off the subject but Im glad they got that caption who was being held by the pirates! what a great easter for him and his family! (jen from ga)
Honey, I don’t know what your definition of a great Easter is, but mine certainly wasn’t great. In case you didn’t know, I was kidnapped and taken hostage by freaking pirates. Freaking pirates. WTF?!?!? Freaking pirates. If you think too many Southerners are still stuck in 1860 or 1960, lemme tell you, these pirates are still stuck in 1760.
April 12th, 20094:47 pm
cox cable MLB extra innings on the air for 2/3 of an inning in the seventh and 2/3 in the ninth today. I am yet to be able to watch an entire game one week into the season except for opener. Thats what 160 bucks gets you. Thank goodness for free internet radio and the Masters
Bobby the Pirate
April 12th, 20094:50 pm
The pirates only started hijacking after ships were dumping toxic waste.
April 12th, 20094:52 pm
Logan is giving up runs with Gwinnett like O’Flaherty is giving them up with the Braves.
April 12th, 20094:53 pm
The MLB TV package on MLB.coN is very screwed-up, as well. I can’t watch the out of market games live and for half of the games or more the archived games have been inaccessable. MLB is really screwing over it’s customers so far this season.
April 12th, 20094:54 pm
8 for 8 with RISP? That is really impressive
With no coast guard to defend its shores, Somalis began complaining that vessels from Asia and Europe were dumping toxic waste in their waters and illegally scooping up red snapper, barracuda and tuna. The rampant illegal fishing began destroying the livelihoods of local fishermen.
According to a memo prepared last month by the staff of the U.S. House Armed Services Committee, Somali clans began resorting “to armed gangs in an attempt to stop the foreign vessels. Over time, these gangs have evolved into hijacking commercial vessels for ransom as an alternative source of income.”
Next game is Tuesday (night?). Boy, that’s a lot of time to analyze the Glavine situation! (I feel for you DOB!)
I hope Glavine is not hurt badly, but I don’t see how he is going to be ready to answer the bell when needed next Saturday. He really hasn’t stretched out his arm enough, I would think.
So, does this mean we take a start from one bullpen guy, or bring up Hanson. I think it will be determined by Glavine’s prognosis.
Have a great remaining Easter folks! (you too Jeff!)

Ship Captain at 4:46 – In case you dozed off at the wheel…
She is speaking to the fact that he was just RESCUED from the pirates! Don’t you think that might make his Easter a little great that he was just rescued??!
Mickleson just hit a 5 iron 3 feet from the hole. Eagle putt for share of the lead coming.
April 12th, 20094:56 pm
Bobby the Pirate
I don’t know, but assuming that your statements are true, does that mean 2 wrongs make a right??
April 12th, 20094:59 pm
April 12th, 20095:00 pm
Jeff I’ve given you the time about 3 times. If you look at 4:42 about 7 comments above your last post you will see that. You need to read things before you make posts like that. I’VE GIVEN YOU THE TIME OF THE POST 3 TIMES!!!!!!!
I knew as soon as the U.S. got involved those pirates wouldn’t live to tell the story. Go Navy Seals!
OK y’all, it’s party time. You folks enjoy what little is left of this fine weekend. I know I will. Ciao!
April 12th, 20095:01 pm
Lefty chokes over and over again. He’s horrible, he has no clutch bone in his body. Has he ever won the Masters?
April 12th, 20095:03 pm
The Natl’s were bad last year and still beat us like a drum..
Were are off to a great start..
TheAntiMe – I have had pretty good luck with MLBTV tech support when I cannot get a game that I should. Try giving them a call, the 800 number is on one of the sign on screens. They usually have you check your IP and then fix the authorization.
April 12th, 20095:04 pm
Wayne in Utah
No, it means the news should be reporting the cause and not just the consequences.
MLB TV just is really laggy and some of the games drop in and out a lot…that and getting the games 45 mins after they air is not true yet. They didnt even have the 10th inning of the braves game the other nite, lol.
April 12th, 20095:06 pm
U have a nice day Jeff. Tired of messing with you.
Watching Tiger Woods on a Sunday is just too fun.
April 12th, 20095:07 pm
Bobby the Pirate – your one of those guys huh? Shame.
April 12th, 20095:08 pm
2007 Braves were 5-1 after six games, they finished 84-78.
2008 Braves were 3-3 after six games, they finished 72-90.
Things are looking up as this years pitching is much deeper than it was in 2007.
Gotta love the Braves start. 5-1 with great starting pitching and excellent hitting.
I do have to question one thing – with O’flaherty (he of the 20.25 era last year) struggling, and Glavine (43 yrs old, with over 4600 innings between regular and postseason) somewhat predictably injured in his first minor league start, does anybody else think we could have put our money to better use by signing Ohman and handing the ball to Campillo every 5th day until Hanson is ready (which he sure appears to be already)?
Campillo was pretty darn good last year. Whether you expect the same from him this year or not, couldn’t we have given him the shot? If he failed, there’s always Hanson (or Bennett, or Carlyle). A shaky, unreliable bullpen can put any game in jeopardy (as O’Flaherty did today) and effect the psyche and confidence of the team in every game. Haven’t we learned this lesson already? It obviously didn’t take much to get Ohman.
I was glad the Braves failed to sign Burnett and wasn’t upset that we whiffed on Furcal, but think we might rue the day we let Ohman get away.
Lefty chokes over and over again. He’s horrible, he has no clutch bone in his body. Has he ever won the Masters? MFin04
Despite having “no clutch bones in his body” Mickleson won the Masters in 2004 & 2006. How can you continue to make such inaccurate, negative comments?
April 12th, 20095:09 pm
We should bat Escobar 1st so he won’t hit into any more double plays in the first inning unless we’ve already scored a bunch of runs.
April 12th, 20095:10 pm
Tiger, one back. Man, is he great under pressure or what? We could use him in the bullpen.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
