Adam Dunn is always on base.
April 12th, 20093:30 pm
They look like they should be playing Deceased Toughs #1 and #2 in an early-’90s Steven Seagal flick.
Warner Madrigal sounds lke the name of the evil corporate genius in one of those movies…
garlick: Campillo, O’Flaherty & Boyer all should be available. LOL, Good one. But i hope they arent!

MFin04… I don’t think he was kidding.. scary.
Bennett was on a diet, or watching what he ate last year, right? What happend. He’s not fat, but compared to last year…

Prado looked good there for all the haters
Nothin like a little Dp action.
well martin just made nice play at first there for the dp
The outfield sure could use Pat Corralas for positioning, Have to wonder was AJ that good at being where he needed to be all the time or did Pat play a role in his success too? Jordan seems to be a step late too often (and not due to lack of speed) and I know instinct is key but I think the outfielders seemed to always be just where they had to be when Pat was calling the shots, could just be me but his absence is noticable. One more step left and Diaz catches that one earlier and Jordan was a step late on the shot to center that let two runs in. Prado couldn’t have been in a better spot so stuff happens but it is happening too often and it will catch up at some point. The defense has to win some too, can’t count on bouncing back every game
That may have been the slowest double play I have ever seen turned
Great play Prado!
Wayne in Utah
As you will notice from one of our Negative Nellie’s, who had responded to your question; they know better than Bobby Cox, his coaching staff, Frank Wren, and his staff. We would probably go 162-0 if we just listened to our “Negative Nellies”, huh?
Dunn is an on base machine.
If I were a Nats fan, I’d be waterboarding myself. This team flat-out stinks.
Glavine went 2 innings, allowed three hits, one earned run on a homer, and one walk, threw 36 pitches (26 strikes)
He had some left-shoulder discomfort after his second-inning at-bat, came out of game. Will be reevaluated after he comes back to Atlanta.
April 12th, 20093:33 pm
Mickelson has birdied 6 of first 8 holes….started 7 back……now only 1 back!
Wow, Chipper with the error.
wow chip with an error
Glavine- left shoulder discomfort…
S***, our bullpen can’t get three outs, now we need them to get 4 outs.
Glavine hurt. Hanson is coming up
Looks like Hanson is going to be on the way up. Glavine had shoulder discomfort today.
That was a beautiful DP.
April 12th, 20093:34 pm
good stuff from bennet today
Tommy Hanson might be up sooner than we think…
Chipper Jones might have just cost us the game.. put in Greg Norton…
Is this more appropriate?
April 12th, 20093:35 pm
Tiger on the first leaderboard.
yes, MFin04, I’m not kidding. But remember you named Bennett as one of the “give it up” boys, and even though he did allow that inherited runner to score last inning, he still hasn’t given up a run of his own in 4 appearances so far.
sorry that was Jeff 321, not you. my bad
Is it 4:20 yet?
April 12th, 20093:36 pm
Mickleson is completely on fire today. Just made an incredible bunker shot on 9 to pull within 2 feet to save par and tie a course record 6 under on the front 9.
Yeah, but he doesn’t look like one of those dudes, cabravesfan. There is no doubt that Warner Madrigal has a misleading name. I never would have guessed that he is a fat dude from Puerto Rico. (Notice that his listed weight is 190. He must have had a 60-pound breakfast before they snapped his photo.)
DOB. Do u feel confortable with our defense? I really dont know with chipper and KJ in the infield, with a strange Mac behind the plate, and GA and Diaz in LF. To tell u the truth our defense has to be extremely sharp with the type of pitchers we have, the rely on superb defense due to their grounder type of pitches
Good job Jeff Bennett
I could be wrong on my prediction here, like I usually am, but I predict Hanson comes up soon and never goes back to the minors. Glavine will be back, but out of the pen.
I blame the red jersey’s for the errors. Can’t stand those things. But in all honesty I just think its the beginning of the season and those are plays they make later on. Good inning by Bennett. To early to overreact to some of this stuff. Now if it continues than I worry.
Glavine two innings, left with shoulder discomfort. Well it looks like Tommy is going to be replaced by Tommy(hanson).
April 12th, 20093:37 pm
Nice post Nate, I lol’d.
Is it 4:20 yet? ———– Nah, not yet, but it is three thirsty
April 12th, 20093:38 pm
Phillies pitching getting lit up again.
April 12th, 20093:39 pm
wow morton is pitching awesome today. 5 innings 1 hit 1 er with 10 strikeouts and only 65 pitches so far
Is BOYER! the closer??????
Bennett sucks, you can let runners score when you come in, thats the bottom line. Doesnt matter if they are yours or someone elses.
For the record, I’m sure Bennett & Boyer are nice guys. However, nice guys don’t translate into helping the Braves’ ERA. That said, I could probably tolerate just one of them in the pen for mop up duties.
Lash La Rue Of course Frenchy is one of Bobby’s boys.. just like Andruw Jones.
brvs1fan Feel free to convince us why Boyer or Bennett deserve a spot on this team.
I know a lot of folks hate the red jerseys, but I love RED!
April 12th, 20093:40 pm
JUST A BIT INSIDE
Shot Thru the Lockhart
So, if Glavine can’t go, do we replace him with Hanson or Morton? Keep in mind, Charlie’s line so far today: 5 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 R, 10(!)K. That’s even better than Hanson the other day. I personally don’t think either one would be a bad choice, but I have to think that Tommy Gun sells more tix…
I wonder if Morton is a bullpen option for us later this year
Norton might need to be traded or sent down, really hasnt looked sharp at all pinch hitting.
Colorado up 4-0 on the Filthies going into the top of the 2nd.
April 12th, 20093:41 pm
Jo-Jo is a possibility and Campillo or Buddy as the 5th starter.
Almost, Infante. Should’ve ate your wheaties.
On the positive.. we might have one of the best benches in the league… save playing Prado at 1B.
make that 1 R for Morton, but I see someone beat me to it anyway.
Dang, we still need a homer today. Just a bit short on that one.
April 12th, 20093:42 pm
Man. our bench is really good. There just isn’t any drop-off offensively when our regular position players need a day off.
now that derosa is a full-time guy, i think infante is one of, if not the best, bench/utility guy in the majors
Can we hit one of their guys now? Do you do that with a one run lead, maybe more since Infante just doubled. I vote hitting Guzman in the ribs. Dunn-NO, to big. Zimmerman and Dukes look like they can scrap too.
Da Cracka Smacka
April 12th, 20093:43 pm
We need to boot Diaz and call up Brandon Jones.
Omar needs to get it together. The dude’s only hitting like .450 this year. What a slacker.
Send Norton down….lol….that’s funny!
Some of you people are seriously ignorant!
190? Really? Tim Hudson is listed at 170- Madrigal looks like he could eat Huddy as a midnight snack
Escobar is a stud
April 12th, 20093:44 pm
Norton will never be “sent down.” If he loses it, he’ll be waived.
Escobar needs to be traded
love that line drive swing yunel has
Escobar is clutch. Over and over again he comes through with runners in scoring position.
Whats norton batting, ignorant?
Esco did not like those trade rumors, taking it out on baseballs
Man, everyone on this team can friggin’ RAKE.
April 12th, 20093:45 pm
You know what they call this sport we are playing? Wall Ball.
does anyone else think we should put Kotchman in for his D
April 12th, 20093:46 pm
DOB.. do you realize that Schafer is in your blog headline and he is the only position player for the Braves without a hit… is this the Madden curse… the SI cover… could it be?
big passed ball there
April 12th, 20093:47 pm
I would only trade Escobar if Erin Andrews is included in the deal.
Jeff321 why don’t you convince us why you are capable of determining who “obviously doesn’t belong on this team”.
Bill in VA
Hey DOB, it’s the 7th inning now and the Braves are up by 3. Is it safe to go to Walmart with the wife now?
Wow… Josh Johnson’s 113th and final pitch was at 96 mph, and he was hitting 97 in the 9th.
If Glavine can’t go, I really think Jo-Jo Reyes would probably be the first guy up. I don’t think the Braves are in a hurry for Hanson, and Reyes being a lefty, with a little more experience than Morton, makes sense to me. Just a guess, though.
(and it’s clear that all of those guys… Hanson, Morton, Reyes … can dominate minor league hitting)
April 12th, 20093:48 pm
Bill in VA NO
I’ll say it one more time:
The Nats stink.
Can Erin Andrews pitch from the bullpen?
dvillebravesgrl aka brvsgrl4life
April 12th, 20093:49 pm
Good hit by Chipper to score Escobar!
“It was all from swinging, felt great before [that],” Glavine said in a text message, when I asked him if the discomfort was felt while he pitched, or just during his at-bat.
We need Norton on the bench to play first. He’ll come around.
Can Erin Andrews go around with the easter bunny guys in the chosen outfit?:)
April 12th, 20093:50 pm
Another extra base.
brvs1fan Why are you trying to turn my question back on me? Do you think I just fell off the turnip truck?
This is how it goes: You answer my question then I’ll gladly answer yours.
April 12th, 20093:51 pm
Lead still not safe with honky Boyer likely pitching ninth.
DO NOT GO TO WALMART, NOW!
always fun to watch the intelligent observations of the negative nellies.. hard to believe they aren’t advisors to some MLB team…
April 12th, 20093:52 pm
Hey DOB, it’s the 7th inning now and the Braves are up by 3. Is it safe to go to Walmart with the wife now? — Bill in VA
Sure, Bill. I mean, what could possibly happen with a lead that big this late in the game? (har har)
diggin O’Flaherty’s intro song
April 12th, 20093:53 pm
Trying to convince Jeff321 and MFin04 of anything intelligible, is like trying to move a brick wall (without a bulldozer).
I hate to be a party popper, but I for one hope that Glavine is not hurt. He’s worked hard to come back and I’d like to see him pitch one last season and leave the game on a non-injury basis.
Even if you aren’t a Glavine fan and see todays news as something good, you should think about last season. Losing one starter can easily turn into losing more and before you know it, we’re out of it by June.
Well, I guess O’flaherty can pitch to right handers as well. Who would have thought?
Props to whoever called Kotchman coming in.
