They blew that three run lead in record time.
Nate from NCState
Doesn’t look like JJ is fooling anyone today.. thoughts?
I think the red jerseys look cheap, at least on television. Have only seen them once in person, and they didn’t bother me as much. But, we won the game that I saw in person.
We really don’t have much positive history in those jerseys, either.
We won our last division wearing red on Sundays; but, we lost our only play-off game (to Houston, game 1 in 2005) when wearing red.
April 12th, 20092:46 pm
Not having Kotchman in there cost a run on that E3
Jurrjens just hasn’t looked very good, at all.
“day-to-day (like all of us” -DOB
You can change it up with “We all are, act accordingly…”
April 12th, 20092:47 pm
Really poor defense in this Mets-Marlins game too. 4 combined errors, 0 earned runs.
I am glad that JF got a triple, but he needed a day off more than the red hot KJ.
We should be out of this inning with a lead.
Sure didn’t take Jurrjens long to give back that three-run lead.
speaking of poor defense..
April 12th, 20092:48 pm
I’ll repeat: I do not like Prado at 1B.
How dare you people question Bobby Cox’s decision to use Prado at first base! He’s a gold glover, eh!
TnBrian I feel your pain. I’m currently using a 21″ monitor hooked up to a second computer for a television. Btw, by “skank” I just meant how she was dressed — not anything else.
April 12th, 20092:49 pm
Cmon, Jair, seriously.
Coach (Skip and Pete will be missed)
April 12th, 20092:50 pm
Dear Don Sutton ,concerning the 2007 gold glove at third base.
Ryan Zimmerman led all National League third basemen in eight of ten defensive categories.
Games played: 161
Games started: 161
Total Chances: 511
Put Outs: 140
Double Plays: 39
And last but not least, Range factor: 3.07
Simply put, he completely outplayed David Wright and I knew this two years ago.
We got Butts working guys.
April 12th, 20092:51 pm
I’ve got a question for some of the great minds on the blog, you know – those who can figure VORP and stuff like that.
People, me included, are saying that 4 teams in the NL East can win the division and 85 or 90 games. With the weighted schedule, how hard is that going to be to have 4 teams with a .500+%. They will be beating each other up regularly and play each other, what, 18 times? It will take a great record in games out of the division
Stolen base, aggressive baserunning for a double, aggressive baserunning for a triple — Coach must be euphoric!
Coach: “AHHH baloney, Prado got jobbed!”
The only judgment involved is whether there WAS [baserunner] interference, not whether it affected the play.
Or whether it was inadvertent, or was attempted to be avoided, or whatever.
Bennett warming up. Seems early for Cox to be waving the white flag.
Way to get out of. If Prado grabs that grounder, he leaves with a lead. Oh well.
Jair with the man-up.
April 12th, 20092:54 pm
What the hell was Jordan Schafer doing on that fly ball over his head?
Jair usually doesn’t get rattled. But, it seems to me he started missing with pitches after the ump called what appeared to be strike 3 a ball.. (I think that was in the second or third inning.)
April 12th, 20092:55 pm
Good to see Bobby keep JJ in to hit and pitch.
April 12th, 20092:56 pm
Did I just see someone by the last name Butts warming up or is it just my imagination.
Yes, we love random parrots. People who don’t have one original thought in their pointy little heads deserve to live in cages.

4 more walks to the worst team in baseball…I will repeat the obvious…THROW STRIKES!
Oh, I get it now —
Braveheart = William Wallace = Willy Wally!!!
April 12th, 20092:58 pm
Third time around the batting order is a B*** ain’t it?
April 12th, 20092:59 pm
Reid in EAV
Here I am, on Easter Sunday, at my mom’s house. My mom doesn’t have cable. So I’d love to give MLB $15 of my hard-earned cash for an MLB.tv pass to see the game on my computer. Of course, thanks to MLB’s asinine blackout rules (since the game is on FSS cable) MLB doesn’t want my money.
So phbbbbt, I’m retaliating by listening to the game on a non-authorized streaming radio link. MLB, #@*% off!
April 12th, 20093:00 pm
And Chipper gives us the lead right back (with some good baserunning by Omar)
April 12th, 20093:01 pm
April 12th, 20093:02 pm
Braves taking the extra base on every single opportunity… I like it.
Great time for BMac to get his first hit off a lefty.
McCann snaps his 0-for-11 against lefties
All five Braves runs today have come with two outs, by the way
Man, I know Adam Dunn is a big guy but he even makes Mac look small
Second chance to hold the lead here, JJ! And go McCann! Sounded like a great piece of hitting.
No homers for us yet, we need to get one of those to keep up our homer pace for the year.
We’re gonna break out curse against LHP and our curse against the Nats in one series? I’ll take it.
April 12th, 20093:04 pm
Wow, J. Santana got 13 Ks and gave up 0 ER after 7 innings pitched, but may lose the game. Marlins lead 2-0.

April 12th, 20093:05 pm
Sure wish I could watch this game on regular TV, but Dish Network doesn’t carry FSS, at least on the package I have. Anyway, looks good on Gameday. Go Braves!
April 12th, 20093:06 pm
I am pleased to hear about all these two out hits. That is what destroys your opponents psyche. Listening to the game on MLB Audio. This is an extension from down in Fla. Keep it up Bravos!!! That is how winning baseball is played.
Some negativity about JJ here on the blogs, and I don’t understand it. He’s given up 2 earned runs through five, and if he gets through the sixth, that’s another quality start.
April 12th, 20093:07 pm
Dan Murphy with the E7 in that game that lead to the 2 UE runs. Johnson has been on his game today as well.
brewdawg, there’s negativity on this blog, even if he throws a perfect game. Don’t worry about it.
Earlier someone was complaining because somebody hit a ball that was over Schafer’s head, and would have been a double no matter who was out in CF.
April 12th, 20093:09 pm
I am not down on JJ, but walks in general. Like the always astute Bobby C said the other day; you catch walks!
Jeff, I have a pretty old pioneer 53″ or whatever it is, which it’s a nice tv, but there’s at least 2/3 inches of black on the bottom of the screen…people look like midgets. JJ gets too high of a pitch count, too dang early. He’s a good one though.
Some of ya’ll are too supersticious. Yeah, they haven’t won crap since ‘05, not because of the red jersey’s etc., but because they just flat out sucked! ‘09 is looking like the Braves of the 90’s. All around solid team.
I like the red jerseys. I have a Francoeur one sitting in the closet. Today’s game reminds me of 2 years ago when seemed like we got all our runs with 2 outs.
April 12th, 20093:10 pm
brewdawg – He’s only given up 2 ER, but he’s throwing about 40% balls
Stop. Walking. People.
April 12th, 20093:11 pm
Okay, no quality start for JJ, but not a bad one either.
DOB any news on why glavine only went 2 innings today. Allowed 3 hits and 1 ER and only pitched to one batter in the 3rd before being pulled with only 36 pitches
I can’t look.
Make that 5 walks in 5.1 innings against the worst hitting team in baseball…awful!
April 12th, 20093:12 pm
btw charlie morton is perfect threw 3 innings with 6 strikeouts. Wow
I hear ya on the walks, but earned runs are the bottom line. If anything, it tells me he’s able to keep us in the game even when he’s not very sharp. That’s the sign of a good pitcher.
Anyone want some TUMS?
April 12th, 20093:13 pm
Is glavine ok?
vabravesfan, that doesn’t sound good. Only 36 pitches…wow. We might be seeing Hanson sooner than we thought, or Campillo or Carlyle starting on the 5th day.
Way to go Bennett.
I hope he uses Bennet for two innings today. I assume Soriano, Moylan, and Gonzalez would be unavailable today.
JJ is by far my favorite Braves pitcher.
Meanwhile Bobby’s boy Bennett is in the house!
Shot Thru the Lockhart
April 12th, 20093:14 pm
DOB, Tom Glavine only threw 36 pitches in Mississippi. Do you know if he was on that small of a pitch count?
I just don’t understand how Bennet is still on the roster. He really hasn’t been very impressive at all, and I can’t think of an outing where I felt confident with him in there over the past 1 1/2 years
misspelled threw oops meant through..Yea I can’t find any info the only run he gave up was a leadoff hr to start the game
April 12th, 20093:15 pm
The Nats are a joke. Get ‘em outta here.
Marlins beat the Mets 2 to 1.
April 12th, 20093:16 pm
Just like clockwork, Bobby’s boy gives it up.
Woo, give those runs back Bennett.
Fish win! Johnson complete game. mets 1 Fish 2
Shoulda had Josh Johnson on my fantasy team. Those CGs are hard to come by.
Diaz made that closer then thought it would be
Turkey for Easter…..me getting sleepy
April 12th, 20093:17 pm
Do work Marlins.. anytime the Mets lose it feels like a win.
If only the nationals had more professional hitters like Garret Anderson.
Read the DAMN scouting report…dont throw him a first pitch fastball if he likes to hit first pitch.
April 12th, 20093:18 pm
nice job Bennett. Knew we could count on you to allow inherited runners to score. Douche
April 12th, 20093:19 pm
No way Bennett pitches more than this inning, the pitcher’s spot is 4th in the next inning.
And why is anyone who struggles on the Braves automatically Bobby’s favorite? Chipper’s made the team for some 14 years.. wouldn’t he be “Bobby’s Boy”?
nice pitch by jeff to get out of it
April 12th, 20093:20 pm
Good comeback by Bennet, but still gives up a run. I just think there has to be better options than Bennet and Boyer.
How do you people find the energy to be so pessimistic?
That would wear me out!
Here come frencheeeeeeeeeeee Hr, maybe?
April 12th, 20093:21 pm
Nate from NCState, I only consider “Bobby’s boy” to be those who obviously don’t deserve a spot on this team.. Yet they somehow keep making the roster.
Well I believe we are out of pitchers. Moylan, Soriano, and Gonzo cant pitch today. I wouldnt mind seeing Campillo go the rest of the way.
April 12th, 20093:24 pm
Campillo, O’Flaherty & Boyer all should be available.
oh well…just keep dreaming. Hate red jerseys!
C.J. Wilson should get the Jeff321 Memorial “Give It Up Boy” Award for the day. He just blew a 4-0 lead for the Rangers, which surely disappointed Texas SP Kevin Millwood. Millwood struck out six Tigers in seven scoreless innings.
April 12th, 20093:25 pm
Mmm, hoe bunnies.
And Jeff you are the one who determines those who “obviously don’t deserve a spot on this team”….What a jerk.
April 12th, 20093:27 pm
C.J. Wilson….ugh!!! And to think the Braves wanted him in the Tex deal

Nate from NC State
I haven’t seen you on here before, so you’ll need to understand that we have bloggers on here that have a real difficult time being happy with anything our Hall of Fame Manager does. I call them Negative Nellies.
Now, on the other hand, they will say I am drinking the Atlanta Braves/Bobby Cox kool-aid, which is probably true. What I like to think of it as being a “fan” of our team.
We kool-aid drinkers can get frustrated, but we try to exercise a measure of patience not normally shown by “Negative Nellies”.
Check out the pictures of C.J. Wilson and Warner Madrigal. I don’t think these guys should be pitchers. They look like they should be playing Deceased Toughs #1 and #2 in an early-’90s Steven Seagal flick.
Rob from SC
April 12th, 20093:28 pm
what did Schafer do
April 12th, 20093:29 pm
Jeff I feel your frustrations.. I wish they would have kept Medlin up.. he looked pretty good. Maybe later on in the year.
