Yes, we were spoiled with AJ’s defense. Scahfer is and will be fine. Small adjustment period but no worries from me. But yeah, the defensive bar has been set reeeaaalll high.
Renegator, Kelly Johnson was the leadoff hitter in each of the first two lineups, the original plus after Chipper got scratched. But after G. Anderson also got scratched, he adjusted the lineup at the top, because he had to have a new No. 3 hitter and wasn’t going to put Diaz or Infante there.
I think Vazquez is a humidity pitcher. The cold has to affecting him right now. Maybe that’s why he doesn’t pitch well in Oct. cause it’s colder. Who knows, but I do know he better not blow this big lead!
Bruised Thumb!!!! Give me a break! Baseball players are a bunch of overpaid pansies. You wouldn’t see a hockey player missing a game because he got a whittle bruise on his thumb. 3rd game of the season….what a joke! Go Braves!!
From an ex CF – I don’t understand where the praise has come from with Schafer in CF. I watched his routes in ST and saw him take a terrible route to a fly ball…since BA normally takes great routes, I found it interesting the announcer kept saying it was BA screwing up.
Turned out to be Jordan, and you could tell by his routes. Speed and a great arm can only go so far in CF. Pre-pitch position, first steps and routes really define a great CF.
They did say he worked really hard this spring on his fielding every day, so hopefully he’s just getting used to the 2nd and 3rd level of seats (major adjustment) behind home plate and down the 1st/3rd baselines on all the stadiums now that he’s playing in.
Tough luck for Javy today. One of the runs on the HR shouldn’t have been on base (Schafer should’ve caught that ball off Howard); and this run shouldn’t have either (Schafer should’ve caught the Victorino triple too). Both of those runs are earned, but never should’ve scored. (and I’m not down on Schafer… he’s just not having a good day)
Slugger, George Lombard did the same off me…twice. Pope was a nice field, the year after I graduated, one of the East Cobb traveling teams really spruced it up. You know Steve Loureiro?
7-2 in the third, looking good. Crap, Schaffer just blew a center field catch- anyway the Bravos are looking decent in this series. I hope they can do well this season. I still have my lingering doubts about the hitting despite of today’s results, but so far this pitching has been superb. If Soriano and Gonzo can stay healthy they may just have a shot at the wildcard. I’ve always like Gonzo and like seeing him close games. He’s a gamer…
Kurdt…to be fair to Vasquez, Jurrjens didn’t pitch up to his ability either. He left balls up, and the Phillies were just not hitting them. You can’t leave balls up against these boppers or they will be hit out of this matchbox. Vasquez is getting bad breaks but he is fine.
No offense. That field looks the way it does because of Jeff Rowland (coach).
That field is his baby. Our park was a porch (360 to CF, 315 L and R) but the air was just always dead there. Brandon Boggs’ bombs even had a tough time going out. It’s an odd field to try to hit, that’s for sure.
Javy is professional pitcher, every pitch dosen’t need to be a strike. he may be setting up other pitches. You gotta be careful with the Phillies lineup
LOL, i was thinking the same thing. But it also shows ridgeway in our ‘pen so im not sure how accurate that is. according to them the braves have a 27 man roster. no wonder we are doing so well……

BBFCFM that would be Javarious Perry.. a lucky fan who won a contest to be a back up for the Atlanta Braves. Kind of like “Knight School”, or what the Dallas Cowboys are doing.
Lassiter’s field is 2 miles down the road and the ball just FLYS out of there (the way the wind is set up).
Yall shoulda seen Jeff Francouer hit there in the playoffs… their head coach was quoted in the playoffs saying “We’re not afraid of him, and we won’t let one guy beat us.”
He did. I think he had 4 HR and two saves both years they beat Lassiter.
As far as the future goes, doesnt Escobar look pretty solid in the #3 spot. Also, I get that feeling this will be the 1st ejection of the season for Bobby
I’ve always wondered who has better judgment making up a lineup card, an ex-CF’er on a blog or a future HOF’er with 14 straight titles and a world series ring? I have an idea but I am just not 100%.
From an ex CF – I don’t understand where the praise has come from with Schafer in CF. I watched his routes in ST and saw him take a terrible route to a fly ball
No offense, but you watched in ST, he took a bad route, and from that you conclude that he’s subpar? Based on your previous playing experience at whatever level?
I’ve watched the kid for two years in the minors, and, believe me, you couldn’t be more wrong in your analysis. I’ll put that down to not having seen him enough to make an informed decision. It’s often wise to refrain from drawing conclusions without enough data to support them.

I played at Pope ( i think i said that, but just to clarify).
Milton is a porch, launching pad, little league field… all of the above.
One time Bruce Chen’s brother hit a ball there against my summer team that just vanished somehwere 300 ft above the right field wall.
What a bomb, and he raked.
Speaking of raking – go Braves. If Diaz is hitting righties like this, I don’t mind having Garret’s professionalism as a professional pinch hitter.
