Phillies rotation has some problems after Hamels.
Eric from MO
Nice to see McCann carrying the team with Chipper out!
Yeah, McCann is locked in! Braves are not missing ANY mistakes from these Phily pitchers. LETS GO JAVY!!
I’d say ‘ol MAC is front runner for MVP, and while were at it,
Schafer for ROY
Rollins is crowding the plate like crazy. Someone brush ‘em off.
Eric, move the cursor below the site of the monitor, move it as far down as possible
April 8th, 20093:32 pm
Anyone else lose audio on MLB.tv feed?
I am so loving this team right now:)
nasty curveball to rollins , rollins ground out to 1st
If we keep spotting our pitchers 2-0 leads on the road…we “should” fair pretty well, huh? OK, Javier…keep the run of good pitching going…
April 8th, 20093:33 pm
Happy Birthday, McFann. Guess that one was a real good gift
Brooklyn Braves Brawler
Thanks for the WIFN 105.5 link.
B-mac is a hitting beast!!
rollins stands right on the plate, for sure, but he doesnt get brushed back
havent you seen his commercial?
April 8th, 20093:34 pm
Rollins grounds to Kotchman, Victorino to Escobar.
Rollins is 1 for 10 in the series. that’s getting it done!
Hey Braves fans. Nice start to the season by your boys. I’m away on vacation now but wanted to check in otherwise be accused of avoiding the old blog while lying in the fetal position because the Braves are in first. Anyway, I need to go get these guys that boarded our boat unannounced off and I’ll try and check in again tonight.
talk with you guys soon.
Happy birthday McFann!!!
javy vasquez is throwing strikes gota love it, ground out to esco
New announcer doesn’t like Ozzie G., just went on a 45-second tangent of why.
Ryan my MLB TV completely froze up. I want a refund if this is how my broadcasts will be. It was fine last night on my sample. This is BS!
April 8th, 20093:35 pm
Nice to hear Don Sutton back for Braves games on the radio. So freaking smart about pitching
I love my Braves.
I didn’t want to predict this one. If I had gotten on here before the past two games you all would have seen my predictions of a Braves win.
I had a little more respect Blanton today than Myers and old ass Moyer but there I go mis-underestimating the Braves again.
Who needs Chipper? Well, we do need him but you know what I mean. I just want to get out a Dodge with a win and bring it to the Nats.
flange1 — your 3:13 post had me laughing.
A bruised thumb? Seriously?
Steve Detwiler would be out there, Chipper. Just sayin’.
April 8th, 20093:36 pm
Utley strikes out swinging – great start!
vazquez k’s utley
Eric from MO….Agreed
Sick change-up for the K
Eric, move it to the very bottom or top, where it is black.
the cryin hawiian just grounded out to escobar , 3up and 3 down
Vazquez better not give up any runs!
Andrew in P-tang
phillies announcers trying to down talk javy…
Someone was complaining earlier about how slow gameday was. if you go to the CBS sportsite and do the gamecenter there, it is only about a minute or so behind. i forgot to record the game today, (which i am really ticked at myself for) so i am counting on you guys for more specific updates than “ball 1, strike 2″ than you get on the internet. PLEASE!!!Thanks in advance…..
Not getting any work done….daytime games are not good for production.
Vazquez keepin’ the jive alive for the Braves, setting ‘em down 1-2-3 in the first.
Rollins groundout to 1st, Victorino groundout to SS, Utley K
April 8th, 20093:37 pm
So McFann I heard McCann say that one was for you on your birthday
anyone see greg norman had a hole in one on the par 3 contest
wow, nice to have starting pitching, and like you said DOB… doesn’t hurt to get off to a 2-0 lead every game of the series. chop chop chop
April 8th, 20093:38 pm
where are the Braves gonna find some power?
behind the plate it seems…
RHR, Thanks for the link. I have “shared” it on facebook already. hilarious.
Vasquez’s stuff is incredibly filthy today. I wonder how many hits the Phillies will end up with, because scoring runs off of his stuff is going to be tough.
Yeah, I guess if you tried to brush off Rollins, he’d just turn and take it in the chest like a man.
javy is efficient as all get out. that bottom half took about 3 mins!
Braves’ll survive minus Chipper and Anderson. We all know that Chipper will be missing games every once in a while, and Infante is luckily a capable backup. And I honestly don’t know that Anderson is that much better of a hitter than Diaz (Maybe we’ll find out today)
April 8th, 20093:39 pm
Happy B-day Mcfann from Mccann did you like the dinger your name was all over it
David from NY
Javy decided to be a groundball pitcher tonight.
(McFann, he didn’t say WHICH homer he would do it on…)
Keep the updates coming, I’m at work! Thanks ahead of time! GO BRAVES!
April 8th, 20093:40 pm
Thanks! That was a good one all right!
Hey, thanks, Anders!!
Really? Well, ’bout time…
What i wouldn’t give to be GA this weekend between the Bravos home opener and Tiger schooling the field at Augusta. That’s tremendous sports weekend.
April 8th, 20093:41 pm
Apparently Diaz didn’t play that much last year because he was in a platoon with Garrett Anderson. At least that’s what the Phillies announcer just said.
not a bad strategy in that ballpark, David from NY. although Javy does tend to give up the longball. the phillies might finally touch up a starter of ours for some runs via the round-tripper
schafer hit it hard but right at rollins, diaz fly out to center javy batting now
diaz flys out to deep center, schafer grounds to ss, vazquez k’s out
That’s true. There’s still time.
(Didn’t mean for my whole post to be bold.)
Joe Simpson is cute and all with the pre-game interviews but where’s my girl Katy Temple? This is gonna be a long season if she’s found herself a better offer than SportsSouth. I mean, who would leave SportsSouth? It can’t get better than that, can it?
mid of the second braves 2 phillies 0
April 8th, 20093:42 pm
Your Very Welcome !!!! Anyone seen the nwe XMEN movie yet?
April 8th, 20093:43 pm
Hey if Erin Andrews went national then katy Temple was sure to follow.
DOB, I was just wondering, with so many devoted fans on here and the dead time on some of these out of town trips, it seems like some of the Braves would pop in for a few minutes like Uknowho did last year. Can u give me an idea why that so seldom happens.
I know if I were in their situation, I would (from the outside looking in, of course). Thanks.
Diaz flies out (deep), Schafer grounds out (close play), Vazquez K’s.
i mean new XMEN MOVIE sorry for the mistake typing quicker than i can think LOL
April 8th, 20093:44 pm
Hey Kurdt Kobain, I love the name. I can tell you’re a true Nirvana fan.
JWilli20-looking for the X-men movie on the web, where’s it at?
Holy cow the games on? I woulda called in sick today if I had known!!
April 8th, 20093:45 pm
Eric from MO, you should have room for your cursor, either on the top or bottom of the screen.
scoots, funny stuff back there @3:28
fat man howard doubles to left center
so close schafer
April 8th, 20093:46 pm
Ryan Howard deep to center, Schafer had it almost in the glove but it bounced out as he hit the wall. Double.
howard drove it to deep center schafer got there and off of his glove, but kept howard in the yard, leadoff double
Gotta be more prepared Josephw000, its called working from home.
Best pitch in baseball is strike 1, way to go javy
I know LaRussa gets blasted for this…but I think it would interesting to swap our pitcher with Schafer in the line-up. He isn’t leading off the game, but he is directly ahead of the top of the order and can get more experience batting in front of them. As we saw Sunday night, he go on bas a couple of times and his speed was totally wasted in that spot. Battering after the pitcher and in front of say…Kelly…he could actually try stealing bases. After a little experience doing that….then they can move him to the top of the order and go with a more conventional line-up. Thoughts?
April 8th, 20093:47 pm
Ground out to Infante, holds the runner. One out.
1 out howard still @ 2nd
leave him standing there javy
The rookie needs to catch that ball this is the big leagues.
ibanez homers 2-2
April 8th, 20093:48 pm
Ibanez 2 run homer to right.
there goes the perfect starts
Ah, yes. We did warn of Ibanez and Vazquez, that combo especially in this park.
don’t understand why you would pitch the guy in his wheelhouse when he’s had success against you, stay away from him
the marlins are playing some great baseball. They are really, really good!
there you go…looks like we will need a few more.
Ibanez has Vazquez’s number though…
April 8th, 20093:49 pm
well, that’s one way to suck the life out of a good start
Without Chipper, there goes 85% of your power. Sucks
this is not javy’s kind of ballpark
Javy is self-destructing
Well…there goes the good run of starting pitching…ugh.
Clerks III Please Kevin Smith
April 8th, 20093:50 pm
I wish chuck tanner could see this
i must have it made, i’m @ work watching the brave game on DTV Ibanez 2 run homer, walked the next batter
Seasons over. Pack your bags. Were doomed. Nothing to see here. You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here. Jump of the bandwagon… Final projection 2-160
“Without Chipper, there goes 85% of your power. Sucks”
I guess the epitome of power is scoring 1 run in 2 games. Sucks
Burrell would have struck out on that pitch
dont let the dinger get to you…go back to throwing strikes
April 8th, 20093:51 pm
get used to it folks… JV likes to give up the long balls.
Well, here we go. 3rd game of the season and two starters already out of the lineup, both over 35. It too early in the season for this.
stephen you have to be blind, if you think we have no offense! Were a beat, just hats off to good pitching
sidslidkid — don’t know if you saw my post on the other blog, but do you have Songs:Ohia’s record, “Mangolia Electric Company”? same band (or, at least, lead singer – Jason Molina), different name. great stuff.
Did not see it mentioned, but with an off-day tomorrow, today is actually a good day to rest Chipper, especially with a bruised thumb. Important for him to play the home opener, if at all possible.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
