This blowpen exploded faster than the old blog when it hit 1000 posts.

And there’s jeffy swinging at balls in the dugout again.

How anyone can blame Bobby Cox for the bullpen meltdown is beyond me. Those guys were the ones on the field, they have to produce. If anyone is to blame, it’s Frank Wren for having these guys on the roster, but even then, these guys have never been this bad. They may have given up hits before, but never walked so many in one inning. This was an anomoly. Won’t happen again for at leadt another 5-6 years to some other team. Get over it people, it’s just one game, the first for most of those relievers. They were just overthrowing and lost it. We still won the series, and that is the most important thing. Why not ask Vazquez to go 7 innings? Surely he wasn’t brought to Atlanta to be an ACE. He was brought to the Braves to eat innings and save our pathetic bullpen from being exposed.

Most of us thought it would take until July or so to expose them. Nope. Three games. THANK GOD Lowe went 8 innings or that game would have fallen apart as well.

Before you get upset with Francouer, understand Lidge pitched to Diaz differently with bases empty than if there had been a runner on. Especially after the 7th inning, he gave Diaz pitches to hit and said “if you can hit it out, then do it.”

Don’t you wish one of the Braves relievers had done that at any point in the 7th before the score got close???

That’s enough for one day for me. 2 out of 3 against the defending WS champs (on the road – none the less), is still a pretty decent start to the season.

But this is the kind of game that ruins seasons. This is the kind of game that not only shakes confidence, it ruins it and can lead to a bad stretch of baseball. On the flip side, it might just spark the Phillies on a pretty good run.

In a division that should be a 4 team race, and a wild-card race that might come down to the wire, blowing a 10-3 lead is unacceptable.

Here’s to hoping the season wasn’t lost today. Because no matter how many people say that a season isn’t won in April, I say hogwash. All 162 games count the same and teams that have legitimate sights on making noise with the big-boys DO NOT blow leads like this.

I wonder how many 7 run leads after 7 innings the 91-05 Braves blew? Not too many, I’m guessing. Don’t actually remember a single game that got out of hand like this during “the run”.

Yikes.

Everyone on the blog must think it’s easy finding relievers that are dominant. Well, guess what, it’s not. You have to fork out major dollars for those guys and even then, they are usually just average or medioce. Go ahead and over react people. Some of you really need to get a life. Campillo pitched poorly, but he can pitch to the scoreboard. If he starts the 7th, he would force the phillies to put the ball in play. Even if they kill the ball, it could go right to someone.
