Blaine Boyer is a big tub of goo
April 8th, 20096:22 pm
A blogger claims: “Boyer just doesn’t have that intangible.”
Yes, he does. Goo is amorphous and so, by definition, intangible.
One of a Lidge maybe….2…no way in HELL
Hey, I’d rather the Braves know now that they need bullpen help, than to wait till the deadline to get reason enough to make a trade.
Where is Hansen when we need him?
Canadaian braves fan

we got an OUT
Is the wind taking all of the Brave’s pitchers pitches out of the strike zone?
DCBrave they did get some hits in that inning and as Jeff francoeur has shown us in the past just because it’s not a strike doesn’t mean you can’t swing at it. Face it man, bad pitching or not, the Phillies have that never say die kind of attitude. Let’s just say if we had that score down 7 runs in the 7th I don’t think we would have come back. just my opinion.
I get post of the day if this holds up I said 12-10 earlier lol hope i’m wrong.
Bobby Cox, the idiot we’ve all come to want to choke, is back. His loyalty will never change. Leaves pitchers in too long. Un f*cking believable. The man is the definition of insanity – doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. How many bad pitches must a manager see before pulling someone. What a joke.
Rob from SC
our pen SUCKS
Jeff Bennett looks like he stole all the weight Brian McCann lost in the offseason.
I’m going to buy a lottery ticket i’ll be back later geez

Is the MOST OVER RATED coach in MLB!! He was SOOOO SLOW to pull MOYLAN.
He let the crowd get back into the game. BRAIN DEAD!!!
I just had a dream that the bullpen gave up 8 runs in the bottom of the 7th. Oh, it wasn’t a dream? Shoot me.
3rd game of the season…get off the bandwagon yall….go ahead and get off so the real fans can manage. Yup, worst pitched game we’ll prob see in a while….159 more to go, so relax.
Dallas, but not in Dallas
At least it won’t be a one run loss
So did everyones jaw hit the floor?lol
an 0-2 count!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wait for the post game interview. The Bobby spin machine will sound like we have the best Bullpen in the Majors but they are just a little tired, or a little rusty, or a little under the weather, or just had an off day or a thousand and one other “Bobbyisms”.
What effin fans wouldn’t be po’d when your team is winning 10-3 in the 7th and are now losing 12-10…when the other team only got 4 hits?
April 8th, 20096:25 pm
This bullpen sucks more than a hooker using a vacuum cleaner.
so- first Chipper goes down, followed quickly by Garret Anderson. Then the pen hits the self-destruct button. I am having horrible thoughts that the next thing we see is Mac taking a foul ball off his collarbone and…(image is too disturbing for afamily friendly blog)
Looks like Boyer has contaminated the entire Braves’ bullpen.
The Goo needs to be cordoned off.
Time to sacrifice a run for an out?
Coach (Skip and Pete will be missed)
Chipper is hurt and the blowpen has returned. At least we won the the three games series before our Bravos imploded.
Maybe Wren got us starting pitchers in the offseason, now we will have to lose another 90 games this season. Who know maybe Wren can completely replace the bullpen in the next offseason
This doesn’t even happen in little league lol and should NEVER happen in the bigs. How is it possible for every pithce rin your bullpen to suc on the same day.
What the hey, I guess we still beat them 2 out of 3.
After all those walks, we’re pitching to a guy that we should intentionally walk.
I dont’ care about this game anymore. Just make it stop… make it stop… make it stop…
“Where is Hansen when we need him?”
He’s on To Catch an IPOD theif (or predator) on NBC…
Sorry, trying to get a laugh to lighten the mood after this disaster of a performance by the bullpen.
Boot the GOO.
April 8th, 20096:26 pm
arent they nice pitching lines for our Braves
all they had to do was throw a few strikes and make them put the ball in play and we would have had this one. But noooooooooooo….
What a revoltin’ development……………
Hey Cox. Put Boyer in tomorrow so you can show him you have faith in him you fool.
Come to think about it. With these many pitchers struggled all together in one inning this bad, it should be the problem of the pitching coach. A good one should be able to stop the bleeding at around the time Moylan was pitching or right after him.
Also it seems like there is this culture of coward in the pen: nobody wants to be aggressive enough to surrender a homer to be blamed.
I mean honestly if Moylan or Boyer would’ve just giving up a Gland Slam…when the bases were 1st loaded… I’d feel better…atleast we’d still be winning
1. Bobby Cox is in the dugout, you’re on your keyboard… enough said.
2. Part of the process early in the season is evaluating pitchers getting themselves out of jams.
3. Boyer was pulled after 9 pitches… so do you give them a lower pitch count than that before you pull them?
It was 10 to f***ing 3!!!!
How you blow a seven run lead is beyond me. The ‘pen might as well not have even shown up today.
See , even down the middle of the plate Rollins couldn’t hit it
At least we know we can hit and score runs without getting 15 walks in an inning.
Let them have a game for crying out loud. Enjoy it Philly, you still got your asses kicked.
Maybe we can get to Lidge who almost blew every save chance against us last year.
If we tried to intentionally walk someone, we might actually throw strikes.
Rollins must feel like an idiot.
April 8th, 20096:27 pm
Well at least we can hope for Brad Lidge blowing his first save opportunity since coming to Philadelphia — right guys?
As to when Moylan will retire his first batter, the over and under is July 4th.
“We are overreacting to that last inning. It almost like a fluke that that could happen. There is no way our guys will do that ever again. Its a one time thing.” – Schafer’s Wafers
There in is the reason to over react. It’s a one in a million chance to happen, and it happens to you!!!! It’s akin to winning the lottery, and what do you do then, you over react.
WAIT! They are allowed to strike-out?!?!?!
hopefully the bullpen can bounce back from this… it’s definitely gotta sting. lidge is going to eventually blow one, let’s get the bats going!!!!
Hmmm. Left to go pick up the kids from school with a 9-3 lead. Bragged to my son that Jordan Schafer and McCann hit HR again today, only to turn the TV on to see it’s 11-10 Philly.
Some things never change. Teams that can’t hold 9-3 leads are NOT going to be playing in October.
Hmm. Wonder if we can make contact against Lidge?
DEAR LORD GIV US A MIRACLLLLLLLLLLLLeeeeeee
Well, we got .071 Rollins out. Maybe we can get .167 Victorino too.
I predict attendance will be down for the home opener…
Alright, let’s just get 3 off of Lidge and hold them in the 9th
Is this for REAL ? I mean our bullpen is absolutely pathetic!
FW is this a competitive and championship caliber team? LOL either u are lying or you dont know baseball my friend
April 8th, 20096:28 pm
Bennett did some nice work there, to keep a glimmer of hope alive.
Pretty bad day when Bennett is the only one who can throw strikes.
I’m having a hard time determining what’s worse — Kelly looking at a third strike with the bases loaded or the bullpen’s complete and utter lack of competence today.
I’m going with the latter. The former was pretty bad, too, but on the economy of scale, this bullpen performance has been one of the worst in Braves history. I mean, cataclysmically bad. The Titanic, Hindenburg, Krakatoa and Vesuvius all rolled into one.
Sorry DOB, but if you’re stunned that Blaine Boyer can’t get the job done, at this point, I’m not sure what to say to you.
How you blow a seven run lead is beyond me
It takes a group effort, vabrave31. Everyone has to be on the same page and work really hard. Put in max effort. Really try their very best. Give it their all. (did i miss any?)
NOT A ONE TIME THING….THE BULLPEN HAS SUCKED SINCE LAST YEAR….SPRING TRAINING THIS YEAR….ETC.
8 of 9 pitches were balls what else you need matthew
TAKE BOYER OFF THE TEAM. AND TELL HIM TO TUCK IN HIS JESUS NECKLACE, WHAT A PUNK.
It’s messed up when Rollins is the easiest out on the Phillies on any day.
April 8th, 20096:29 pm
Frenchy single, Schafer walk, Chipper pinch HR
Is Mark Wohlers still bouncing them off the screen anywhere? How about Rocker??
But hey… Boyer’s from the Atlanta area, so god forbid he EARN his way onto the roster.
I hope I have enough rum left to get through this…
In Goo we trust. NOT!
RALLY TIME!!!! Let’s knock Lights out Lidge around
DA BULLPEN SUCKS
I’m still in shock
I didn’t know an entire bullpen of pitchers could become incompetent all at the same time. The same inning. Ouch.
Blaine Boyer? Jeff Bennett? Eric O’FallonYourFace?
Where the hell is Buddy Carlyle? Why’d we wait to bring in Campillo so late into this debacle? Why would we simply toss Moylan in, expecting him to just be his same ol’ self after nearly a season away from live action? The man HAS to lack full confidence until he works his way towards it!!!
Our weakness has been exposed with this calamity. This is one area of the pitching staff that looks scary-awful. Boyer and the Irish lefty seemed to make the team just because we had to fill the roster spots with SOMEbody.
It’ll be interesting to see the mental makeup of this squad, should they (in all probability) lose this game. Will they bounce back and come home to dominate a Nationals’ squad they SHOULD wipe the floor with? Or will they, as in seasons’ past, lose 2 of 3 and come out of this shellacking all moribund?
No offense, but, how can any of you think this is Bobby’s fault? I don’t believe he told anyone to go out there and walk 6 guys in an inning. Major league pitchers should be able to combine to pitch 3 innings without giving up 7 RUNS. Not Bobby’s fault.
April 8th, 20096:30 pm
So what is the bullpen ERA now this year about 800.888? Well, that’s still 110 runs under the pens’ ERA for last year.
Bullpen let 8 of 10 “inherited runners” score. Sounds like 2008 all over again only this time it took 3 games for them to get where they were after 6 weeks last year.
David O’Brien could’ve held that 10-3 lead.
Wow Stephen, thats weird.
Can Hanson come out of the pen?
watch the phills will get all strikes called….
0-2 Jeff, show us that strike out.
What a GOOber that Boyer is.
At least Bennett threw strikes. Make them earn their runs. Maybe Bobby should have gone to him instead of Campillo. All that is hindsight now. Bad bullpen, bad umpiring. Only thing that can salvage this is if Lidge blows his first save of the season. Then i’ll feel a little redemption for this game but it is only one game. This hurts but it shouldn’t kill us.
April 8th, 20096:31 pm
omg the ball in the dirt was a strike
zmerk13, excellent point. Bobby can’t throw the pitches for them.
WOW I came home from work, saw the score was still 9-3 in the 7th and decided to go ahead and get my run in. Never in a million years expected to come back to this. Brad Lidge? Forgetaboutit. Phillies win. Now I gotta go back and see where it all went horribly horribly wrong.
You think Wren would have kept Boyer, Bennett and Campillo if Bobby had said “they’ve gotta go”??? It is always the Manager’s fault. He is the Manager. The buck stops there!
At least Frenchy put a good swing on it……..
This bullpen makes me want to shoot myself in the face.
“Bennett did some nice work there, to keep a glimmer of hope alive.”
I agree, he only gave it one run AND he got 3 outs.
“Some thought it was impossible”
“Give up 1 run ANNND get 3 outs” said Boyer, “in the same inning? It’s just not possible”
April 8th, 20096:32 pm
get hansen up, it couldn’t hurt matters none,
I loved that Stephen
Where is Pujols when you need him
Cause I’m sure Bobby could have predicted this.
N Nine (Boyer needs to go)
Everyone in Phillie forgot they lost the last two games. Crushing blow
yes HR HR HR HR
These are the types of games that made me stop betting.
