I’m stunned. I’m still in disbelief over the heinous relief pitching in that bottom of the seventh inning. Blaine Boyer face two batters with bases loaded, threw nine pitches/eight balls, walked in two runs.

This bullpen will never be good Moylan has never been able to throw strikes Soriano throws straight as an arrow and Gonzalez is a set up man at best. And on another note is it me or does Chipper seem to always miss 1 game ever big division series the last 2 years.

It was a fluke. You don’t make it to the major leagues if you can’t throw a strike. But wow, to have every single person they brought in just not even come close. Amazing… Still disheartening.

Totally unbelievable!!! Per fangraphs, the Braves had a 99% chance of winning the game going into the bottom of the 7th. Moylan, Campillo and Boyer should be shot!!!! I know it is just one game but to just piss it away is sickening!!!

Moylan just didn’t look ready today and you expect games like that when bouncin back from Tommy John, but Boyer in his first outing didn’t even come close to the strike zone. The guy is afraid. I don’t hate him but i’m tired of seeing him. Say what you want about Gonzo being wild or Soriano being hurt a lot. At least when they take the mound they’re not intimidated. Boyer just doesn’t have that intangible.

The Phils bring in their closer now, and the Braves have reverted back to what they were last season, all in one inning!!
Is a long like this akin to KJ dropping the pop-up last year? That play turned the Braves entire season around…let’s hope this game doesn’t do like wise.
One thing for sure, the bullpen will need to gather some confidence from some where.
DOB, please ask Bobby what his rationale was for bringing in O’Mygosh (O’Flaherty), instead of his long relief guy, and getting this game over.

Well, here’s Bennett. Between him and Boyer, we lost 13 games last season. Throw in Acosta and that was 18. We would have been in the post season without those losses. Wonder if he learned anything over the winter?

Atlanta fans catch a lot of grief for getting outnumbered by fans of the Cubs, Steelers, et. al. I’ve always though that criticism was unfair for what is really a young city. But if anyone wants to complain that Atlanta’s professional sports fans are among the most reactionary, hot-headed, and clueless, I am ready to join in the criticism (at least by the evidence of what people post on AJC pro sports team blogs, including this one).

In that span:
-2.66 ERA
-1.16 WHIP
-1.16 K per inning
So like I said in the first post, Medlen has enjoyed success as a reliever (and starter).

I’m only a fan, and this stings me, so imagine how the players feel. It’s going to be tough to sit on this until Friday, and that may be a rain out. They’re going to have to live with this for a couple or three days.
