Medlen wasn’t very good as a reliever last year.
I’m gonna throw up now…geez
This is pathetic. The bullpen should return the equvalent to a game paycheck…seriously

Longest half inning ever followed by fastest half inning ever.
Glad we are back to Braves baseball by walking in 4 runs. But hey remember what the cool thing to do is when things go bad; blame it on Francoeur. So let me hear it…
April 8th, 20096:14 pm
Good to see the bats step up there.
im sure kelly is thankful he wasn’t the one who lost the big lead to the phils this year.
Don’t blame the ump for this crap excuse for a bull pen! The same ump is calling balls and strikes for both teams and the Phils aren’t walking in 6 runs!
unbelievable, i think i’m gonna throw up. That was pitiful. I feel for vazquez. Leaves with a 7 run lead. unreal
boo boo boo…………..boo
We are overreacting to that last inning. It almost like a fluke that that could happen. There is no way our guys will do that ever again. Its a one time thing.
He y Phillie Again
You stupid F***king moron. How would you react if your bullpen did that. That was some of the worst baseball I’ve ever seen. Where were you earlier today and and the past few days you f***king loser? You are worthless and no one would care if you died.
I no it’s really early but man does this take the winds right out of the sail….
oh please oh please can we put boyer back in?????
April 8th, 20096:15 pm
Awesome.. so well have the bottom of the order coming up in the top of the 9th to get the lead back (that is if we can hold them right here..)
SOS, what the hell does Bobby Cox have to do with that? What was he supposed to do, go out and pitch himself? Even though he probably could have put some pitches over the plate. Nothing he could do.
Francouer sucks, this is all his fault
Don’t forget how clueless Boyer was. I blame him
I can understand why Peter Moylan walked guys, but why did Boyer? Damn Boyer can’t handle pressure or cold weather.
Well the old Braves are back after 2 games. I was hoping it would take them longer.
Here we go again. 3-0 count.
You know, I paused my tv after the top of the 7th thinking I could just come back and fast forward through the bottom half.
I should have known that would happen.
Don’t throw a strike or anything campillo

I’m stunned. I’m still in disbelief over the heinous relief pitching in that bottom of the seventh inning. Blaine Boyer face two batters with bases loaded, threw nine pitches/eight balls, walked in two runs.
Boyer should be banned from ever pitchin in Philly.(or anywhere lol)
LET’S START WALKING PEOPLE
And to think everybody was worried that the defense was going to be the thing that winds up costing the Braves starters this year. I don’t think so!
This bullpen will never be good Moylan has never been able to throw strikes Soriano throws straight as an arrow and Gonzalez is a set up man at best. And on another note is it me or does Chipper seem to always miss 1 game ever big division series the last 2 years.
Fire McDowell!!!! I think Maddux is available.
Well, I hope the boys take this opportunity O’Flaherty, Moylan, Blow-yer, and Campillo have created to hand Lidge his first blown save of the year. Good grief, that was pathetic!
Jake W.: Nice come back by the Phils aided heavily by our bullpen. Our boys need to come back and show the same fight they did.
Fight? What fight?
well lets just walk all of them! for the luv of god
this is why they’ll finish 4th again,
the bullpen is f*cking awful…….
Another walk to start the 9th. I need a beer.
It was a fluke. You don’t make it to the major leagues if you can’t throw a strike. But wow, to have every single person they brought in just not even come close. Amazing… Still disheartening.
Can we just call this game and go home? Even if we win… it’s not a very fulfilling one.
anybody watching this game are these pitches really not that close. I mean 4 bases loaded walks!!!!1
Totally unbelievable!!! Per fangraphs, the Braves had a 99% chance of winning the game going into the bottom of the 7th. Moylan, Campillo and Boyer should be shot!!!! I know it is just one game but to just piss it away is sickening!!!
Ibanez draws a lead-off walk, the 10th one issued by Braves pitching today.
April 8th, 20096:17 pm
Wow, Campillo isn’t pitching great, but he mixed in at least 3 strikes in that last AB….this umpire has completely lost control of the strike zone…
What a blown opportunity. Any momentum you had is destroyed.
A game like this is exactly why Cox needs to put Boyer in on Friday, to restore his confidence. And after Boyer once again sucks, Boyer himself will do us all a favor and retire.
April 8th, 20096:18 pm
Boyer is 2009’s Frenchy… send him down for a weekend!
on the bright side this will probably be the ugliest loss of the season….
Who wants to pitch? Chipper, can you throw a strike? Anyone? Can anybody throw a strike? Can Sammons pitch?
Everyone enjoy your 2 game retreat?
THROW A DAMN STRIKE
god im gonna be sick
campillo, I can not believe this . It is not the ump. Except for about 2 pitches, these aren’t close. And that is what happens when you get behind, a 2B
throw a f$#%ing strike!!!
Blaine Boyer is a big tub of goo
OK, maybe I’ll be banned for saying truth to power, but we all know…
Blaine Boyer is a big tub of goo!
And he can’t pitch to save his life.
Moylan just didn’t look ready today and you expect games like that when bouncin back from Tommy John, but Boyer in his first outing didn’t even come close to the strike zone. The guy is afraid. I don’t hate him but i’m tired of seeing him. Say what you want about Gonzo being wild or Soriano being hurt a lot. At least when they take the mound they’re not intimidated. Boyer just doesn’t have that intangible.
Steve from OH
Donde esta Soriano?
The Wickman/Reitsma/Kolb Trio
April 8th, 20096:19 pm
Yeah, suddenly we’re not looking too bad, huh?
These are the kinda of games that causes LOSING STREAKS!!!! It kills so much momentum.
Someone get Tommy Hanson on the line…
Oh great, we got Bennett warming up in the pen. Our prayers are answered!
I’d rather see them hit than walk.
Think of it this way, we got our ace coming back on Friday.
Braves are back!!!!!!!!!!! I missed seeing that old fart limp out to the mound with that stupid look on his face.
all of pitchers that was in the 7th inning should be runnin the bases at the end of the game…. that was soooo bad…
10 walks in the game so far. Interesting strategy ATL is employing. Make them go complacent, and then eventually they won’t swing at anything at all… And then a double, there goes my theory.
let’s trade in pitful bullpen pitchers that pitched today for the G-Braves starters. They prolly could do much better than what was occurring in the late innings.
The Phils bring in their closer now, and the Braves have reverted back to what they were last season, all in one inning!!
Is a long like this akin to KJ dropping the pop-up last year? That play turned the Braves entire season around…let’s hope this game doesn’t do like wise.
One thing for sure, the bullpen will need to gather some confidence from some where.
DOB, please ask Bobby what his rationale was for bringing in O’Mygosh (O’Flaherty), instead of his long relief guy, and getting this game over.
Is this the Kelly Johnson dropped ball game of 2009?
April 8th, 20096:20 pm
Hey it looks like the pen is making progress. At least this inning they’re making the Phillies hit their way on. WooHoo!
were going to lose 15-10
WE NEED TO TRADE FOR SOME RELIEF PITCHING TONIGHT!
Schafer’s Wafers — no, they’re not even close. It’s not like they’re borderline pitches and the ump has been squeezing Braves relievers, nothing like that at all. They’re all over the place — high, low, outside, etc.
The whole bullpen has collectively “dropped the ball”.
Well, here’s Bennett. Between him and Boyer, we lost 13 games last season. Throw in Acosta and that was 18. We would have been in the post season without those losses. Wonder if he learned anything over the winter?
UNREALLL. 3 pitchers to blame.. and then the manager. what a joke.. JAVIER VASQUEZ SHOULD BE PISSED.. 5 walks way to go campillo moylan and BOYER. cox is married to this guy he is awful .. he threw 1 strike.. right now i am pissed. GET RID OF BOYER.. where is boone logan and Tommy Hanson. good grief… way to give them the runs instead of making them earn it.. nice to see that the braves bullpen decided to show up.. cox taking out O’Flaherty after hitting Howard cost them this game. STUPID managing again…
April 8th, 20096:21 pm
Bennet gives up a homer!
Atlanta fans catch a lot of grief for getting outnumbered by fans of the Cubs, Steelers, et. al. I’ve always though that criticism was unfair for what is really a young city. But if anyone wants to complain that Atlanta’s professional sports fans are among the most reactionary, hot-headed, and clueless, I am ready to join in the criticism (at least by the evidence of what people post on AJC pro sports team blogs, including this one).
Is this seriously happening?
BENNETT HE IS THE WORST ON!E!!!1
Is Lowe warming up yet?
Yeah, I get it….Boyer, Moylan and Campillo are all throwing unintentional pitchouts and it’s Bobby’s fault. I love it.
The season’s officially started, boys.
Chipper…is OUR leader??
Just looking into the short term future:)
When Bennett stinks up the place, who’s left in the pen?
nice, another ball. can anyone in the bullpen throw a strike?!?!?! ANother ball!!!!
Medlen’s pitched in 94 games in his career, started 17 of them.
In that span:
-1.16 K per inning
So like I said in the first post, Medlen has enjoyed success as a reliever (and starter).
Did the bullpen forget to get on the plane from Atlanta to Philly? This is HORRIBLE!!!!!
I’m only a fan, and this stings me, so imagine how the players feel. It’s going to be tough to sit on this until Friday, and that may be a rain out. They’re going to have to live with this for a couple or three days.
“Tommy? How quick can you get to Philly?”
leif garret anderson
Even albie lopez can throw strike.
I blame this on the donkey. The only thing he does right is pick his nose.
April 8th, 20096:22 pm
What are the odds Bobby holds open tryouts to join the Braves bullpen?
Went from talking about sweeping the champs to how bad we really are
What is the record for this $h!t? 10-3 lead bring in go ahead by walks?
We could put this whole Bull Pen on waivers and I don’t any one of them would be claimed except maybe Soriano or Gonzo by the Royals or Nats.
Dont worry, they’ll score more runs so we won’t even get a change to see the closer
*said at the before the season even started that I didn’t trust the bullpen, nothing has changed to make me think otherwise.
Moylan and Boyer’s ERA can’t even be computed……HAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAA how pathetic.
Trade Boyer to KC where all pitchers go to end their career..
For 24 innings this year we were the best team in baseball. We are the April 8th World Champs. It was fun while it lasted.
Rob from SC
Stephen Marek had a great spring, Kris Medlen had 1 bad outing. Why do we keep giving chances to these retreads.
I’m amazing some Phillies are actually swinging at pitches.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
