Maybe this suggestion has come up before, but the MIB Bloggers need to get together for a tailgate this season. Who’s up for it? Turner Field of course, Saturday or Sunday night game. Maybe we could get a guest appearance from our man DOB for a hot dog.
Woogidy, I’m hooking up with a few folks I’ve met through this blog prior to the home opener. I’m sure there’s always room for a few more folks! You’ll probably meet one or two of them on Sunday.
Sheff’s bat has slowed down…he is sticking around for 500 and than he’s cooked. He can’t play D so if the Phils want him, they can have him….Chan Ho Park is washed up as well.
When I was a kid, my class went on a field trip to a meat processing plant. It was bologna/hot dog day. After watching them make bologna, I decided two things. 1) I am NEVER going to eat bologna again, and I haven’t. 2) I wouldn’t go into the room where they made hot dogs. As I explained to the teacher, “Knowing and seeing are two completely different things.” To this day, I’m as likely to choose a good hot dog (the toppings decide that part) as I am a steak.
I’ll be at the ‘roo too…did you actually head up to hampton, or just listen…it was so great being in there when they came out on stage Friday night!! FLUFFHEAD!!!!!!
Woogidy, I hear ya!! I’m not normally a big drinker at all. But last year, I learned that I can hold my liquor quite well… because I was TRYING to black out, but couldn’t.

Wow…that musta been hard! One time, we only had one sesame seed bun left, so there was a bit of battle there…can’t remember who came out on top…
I don’t know why I call it a Spring dish…I could eat it “every week, every other day!” I guess it just makes me think of Spring ’cause we mostly have it in Spring. PWHjort, I always park there. We’ll have to do a tailgate over there for a game. Unless you want to just meet over there and drink some beers at that one po dunk bar on the right when you’re walking to the park. Just kidding. I’m not that much of an ALkie. I do always park at that lot. They for sure don’t mind a few tail gaters I have noticed.
8-13 inches of rain is the predicted rainfall total here in Southwest Georgia through Thursday AM. We just had somewhere around 8-10 inches of rain over the weekend.

Chipper has signed an extension. What a truly wonderful thing to read. Thanks DOB, for giving us the news. Thanks Wren for being smart about this contract. Thanks Chipper for all the good times and great play. I hope you make 500 with a 310 or better average.
Man, exciting news like this almost makes me think this team has a real shot at it all this season… almost. I am looking forward to the season. I like the way this team is shaping up. Especially the strong bench. That should make the pinch hits and late innings much more pleasurable. Should be fun regardless of outcome.
That’s a lot of rain, my friend. Sometimes when it comes down too fast and furious, it ends up running off and not being absorbed as well as it could. If it eventually gets into the watershed, I guess that’s OK.
We have received some snow here in the past week that will help with the snow pack. Could end up being a good year, if it doesn’t melt too fast.
BBFCFM – sorry for the late response… had bidness to take care of… on Asheville, nope, had to find an extra myself. Hoping the ATL rumor is true. After Hampton, I believe they are on a mission.
That’s right, Wayne. I live in the highest part (what passes for “high ground” in Southwest Georgia) of my county. If it floods here, we’re all doomed. We had flash flooding here the other day. If anyone cares, anyone at all, the Astros traded for INF Jeff Keppinger, got him from Cincy for a player to be named later or cash considerations, which is otherwise known as being Langerhansed.
I like Bologna too…fried bologna sandwiches with mustard, that’s good stuff. As for Chipper I’m stoked that he’s signed through 2012 and wish him good health on his way to breakin’ even more Braves records.
Kotch in the 2 hole would look a lot better with Schafer at the top of the order, not at the bottom. That’s just me though. Both KJ & Escobar get tentative leading off, and I think they take too many pitches.
Anders, if you’re in complete earnest, then I’m really sorry. You’ll understand if I’ve felt suckered a couple times by your Dr. Jekyll/ Mr. Troll act. But hey, maybe I’ve really got it wrong. Wouldn’t be the first time. BUB
don’t falter young man, the guy is a sociopath..and a Mets fan. You got the right take on it. That comment of his to you oozed slime and insincerity. Dr Jeckyll & Mr Troll says it just right
Remember when Wilson Betemit was traded to the Dodgers? They, immediately, started pronouncing his name differently. Pete and Skip said that they always go over the pronunciation of a name, with the player, to make sure they say it right. Skip then said, “Wilson Betemit, is truly the player to be named later”.
Why is everyone overreacting about having two guys over 35 making a large portion. Think about it, our team is made up of a bunch of guys who are in their first arbitration year or havent even made it that far. In the Braves case, it really isnt that big of a deal.
DOB @5:50. Hilarious. No idea why, but could not stop laughing. Thanks for breaking up the monotony. Working at a TV show is not as insanely fun as people might imagine.
During the rain delay, I think Sunday, I posted 2 other Skip stories. Another blogger was talking about a ‘Skip’ tribute on the radio. Unfortunately, by the time I typed them out, they appeared on the very end of Dave’s old blog. He posted a new one in the meantime. I doubt anyone even seen them. So, before the game starts, here’s one of them. I’ll share the other one at the next rain delay.
I think they were playing a day game on the West coast. The bottom of the inning was just coming back from a commercial break. A TBS cameraman was following a well-endowed, scantily-clad young lady as she returned to her seat. As she bent over to put down her beverage, Skip said, “as we start the bottom of the 4th, I see there are almost two out”.
Brandon, little did you know (I think you were asking about his finger injury), but McCann actually has a bruise above his right knee where he took another foul ball off it in yesterday’s game. He’ll probably play tomorrow
Blauser, Bobby hasn’t announced pitching plans beyond Kawakami pitching the second home game, which will be his first start. I’d assume he’ll then revert to the order they followed the first time through, with Jurrjens following Kawakami, then Vazquez, then Lowe….
I know this is totally out of left field but can somebody explain to me what goes into a Sloppy Joe and the main ingredients of a Meat Loaf? It’s those things you hear in movies/tv all the time and realise you have no idea what they are.
If you want a trade i’ll tell you what goes into a haggis
For you Francophiles, Jeff Francoeur caught a 6-pound, 4-ounce bass in the little lake behind the visiting clubhouse here at fabulous Osceola County Stadium. Largest fish caught in the lake this season (the clubhouse guy has fishing rods, and players often cast for a while between BP and games, which is when Francoeur did).
They said he acted like a little kid when he got a bite, “I got something! I got something!” Turned out he did. I saw it, walked up just as he was throwing it back. ‘Twas large.
Bubdylan Personally, I think that your analysis of Anders was very perceptive. Everyone else seems to be treating him like the hooker who walked into church. They’re being overly nice to him in an effort to prove they’re not prejudiced against Mets fans.
Dodger announcers seem to have a knack for mispronouncing names (dodger announcers not named Vin Scully anyways)- I’ve had to endure Rafael furcal (pronounced like california), Ondruw Jones, Matt DEaz instead of DIaz, Fran”coor” instead of fran”core”…need I go on?
Hurray for Chipper. We should get to see him hit his 500th dinger as a Brave maybe? I feel like at some point Chipper will have a key hit to win us a WS title. Maybe like that dude in LA who for all practical reasons was unable to play, but came off the bench to pinch hit and creamed it! Kirk Gibson I think it was.
actually McFann just finished up a long study on the novel M*A*S*H..watched Dr. Strangelove, The Russians Are Coming The Russians Are Coming, and just started The Best Years of Our Lives. Interesting class actually.

TenPaul-Bout time you walked into the light, Dude.
Tom O’Hawke-yeah, it went from Bet a mit to Bate A Meat. Strange in the extreme. I still think the name change caused his regression.

Go Froggy, great fish
Brilliant day here, bought a house, Chipper signs and it was sunny and 60 bloody degrees, like a bad Perth winters day but a GREAT NY spring
frank Wren now gets a solid A- this season for the GM job……

Dodger announcers seem to have a knack for mispronouncing names (dodger announcers not named Vin Scully anyways)- I’ve had to endure Rafael furcal (pronounced like california), Ondruw Jones, Matt DEaz instead of DIaz, Fran”coor” instead of fran”core”…need I go on?

No matter how nice they are, being a Mets’ fan points to a definite character flaw and a tendency towards extreme forms of brain damage.

dogsbrekky-did you have to go to Maryland to get a better deal on that house or is that just your new car?

Hey, thanks for the update on McCann, Chief! Didn’t know about that one. That’s the catcher business for ya.
Brandon got stuck in a college perspectives class on humor, romance, and war.
