Per at bat. Oops, I voted the Chicago way… twice.
Braves wanna see how Boone Logan reacts coming in to face a lefty. He just walked Murphy. and then J
March 22nd, 20092:36 pm
Coach (11:08 am): ”As far as the situation with Brandon Hicks, the heaver bat actually does make sense, and I’ll explain why.”
Thanks for the insights, Coach — I was sure that my confidence was not misplaced.
Boone is one tall dude…smokes a line drive to center…..drops in front of anderson
March 22nd, 20092:37 pm
sorry, this keyboard bites….then Logan just gives up an RBI hit to Jeremy Reed to tie it. First run charted to JJ in 11 straight innings against the Mets
It looks to me like Boone Logan wants in the GIVE IT UP BOYS club. Ah, I’ll keep an eye on this guy to see if he’s worthy or not.
Will Ohman, anyone?
March 22nd, 20092:39 pm
Another walk..bases loaded
sucks for JJ, that shouldn’t have been his run.
Coach, I don’t mind you reprinting my analysis, but would appreciate attribution. Thanks.
We ought to vote on Ohman too.
March 22nd, 20092:40 pm
base hit up the middle..3-1…anybody know Ohman’s number?
Not a good outing by Logan just gave up 2 more. 3-1 mets
Well Ohman is still a free agent.
well the bottom fell out for Boone. After a walk to Church he gave up a bases loaded, two-run single to Tatis. He’s yet to retire somebody.
March 22nd, 20092:41 pm
ohman would be great at just over a million. at this point, though, i really dont see it happening.
March 22nd, 20092:42 pm
This is why some people don’t even bother to come to the blog during the season. One bad outing and many are ready to throw someone to the curb.
Ground out to short….inning over….3-1 mets
Could we just take up a collection for Ohman? I’ll start ‘er off with $50.
March 22nd, 20092:43 pm
Of course, the opposite is true, too. One good outing and the guy is going to the HOF.
First three letters in Boone spell Boo.
Eric from MO
Keyman LOL!!! Well at least Coach knows how to use copy and paste!
Boone’s problem was he fell behind every hitter. Could not locate the slider so they would just sit on the fastball which usually isn’t a good thing.
March 22nd, 20092:44 pm
I’ll offer the proceeds off my Andruw rookie card to the Ohman collection. So, AdirondackDave, with your 50 bucks, we’re up to $49.00
Logan seem to always be on full counts, in this outing. Has a nice breaking ball, good changeup, and a fastball that he can gt to 93mph. Needs to work on his control, but his stuff is pretty good.
Ohman might be a good option, but im not ready to give up on the young guys just yet. Whats Ohman’s asking price? its got to be too high if he hasnt signed with anyone yet.
March 22nd, 20092:45 pm
Just think if we didnt sign an outfielder like I said all offseason we could afford Ohman. Damn! I really wish I wasnt right all the time.
what was the final line on JJ?
March 22nd, 20092:46 pm
Now pitcher for the mets Dillon Gee
D. Hernandez batting-Grounds out to short
Kelly Johnson-Grounds out to 3rd
March 22nd, 20092:47 pm
Bad Bad Bad…our bats better get started now…frenchy still needs his bomb of the day.
Norton smokes a single to right
Baseball’s scoring sometimes really doesn’t make sense. JJ had an excellent outing and statistically he gets charged with 3 ER, if I’m not mistaken.
N Nine (eta14)
Doubt Ohman would fit here since we are trading relief pitching due to the surplus.
Ritchie from Scotland
from the little I have seen of Logan and O’Flatherty both haven’t really given me alot of confidence. Will Ohman is still available isn’t he..
Ohman is asking for 1.75 with another 1 million in incentive.
March 22nd, 20092:48 pm
Francoeur flies out to right…
Just realised you’ve been talking about Ohman anyway, great minds…and all that.
What I would do with Ohman is sign him with a miner league contract than try to trade him for a 3B prospect.
March 22nd, 20092:49 pm
Listening to the game on 96.1 FM in Atlanta. Really like Jim Powell, so far. He’s articulate, knowledgable, and interesting. He has been interviewing Frank Wren in between innings about how the final roster decisions are made and who is involved as well as calling the game. Good stuff.
Also, really nice not to have to have to suffer through the redneck station 94.9 like the last two seasons. How embarrassing for the Braves and Atlanta to have that steaming pile representing this city. Hopefully, that also means the bearded hick boob that was the face of that station will be missing from the big board at the Ted, between innings–what a low-life moron.
Jair was only charged with one run. He walked a guy then they took him out. That run came around to score so only 1ER …not 3
Ohman wouldn’t take a MiL contract.
4.2 inn. 4 hits, 1 ER, 2BB, 3k’s for our boy Jair!
JJ is only charged with 1 ER because the last hitter he faced ended up scoring. JJ is not responsible for any hitters that end up scoring that he doesn’t face.
March 22nd, 20092:50 pm
If the Braves lose this game, the season is lost.
adrionick dave i thought logan came in with one runner one…either way, yeah…all the runners that were on when logan came out would be charged to jurjens. i agree with you…im not sure if that is fair.
Collina now catching….Conrad at 2nd….Freeman at 1st..Heyward in right
March 22nd, 20092:51 pm
How many days left until opening night?
mets fan in atlanta
Jurrjens is only credited with 1 ER, cause he came out of the game with one of his runners on base. Boone Logan gave up the rest, they were all his runners, so the remaining two runs were credited to him.
carroll, what do you think about mark bowman saying he thinks bennett might get traded? any idea who has been inquiring about him?
Well, he could take that contract the braves gave him earlier in the free agent saga if its still on the table.
March 22nd, 20092:52 pm
PTBNL (12:40 pm): ”if you are talking about Adam’s ADD meds, then the Braves would not have touched Lowe either. Lowe takes the same stuff (he has ADD, too) and was instrumental in talking Adam into taking the meds.”
Yeah, them’s what I’m talkin’ about.
But your point is obscured by the time that has passed between the two transactions.
A feared (read: anticipated) crackdown on ADD meds that never occurred may have been assumed to now be unlikely. Or at leats, workable.
What I’m sayin’ is that that was then (Jan 07), and that this is now (Jan 09. Perhaps the PED hysteria has been judged to be in terminal ebb.
Who knows? Not I, for sure.
ohman’s asking price was 1.75mil the padres were interested but wouldn’t go that high
Brandon___I think its 14 days, just a rough guess
March 22nd, 20092:53 pm
Boone strikes the first guy out
Evans flies out to right
Bobby and Chipper and others seem pretty confident in Boone Logan, and it looks like he will make the team. its good for him to learn here and get beat up in spring training so he’ll be better prepared for the reg. season!
April 5th is when the Bravos have their first game…against the Phils..
dan i doubt that would work. why wouldnt the team trading for ohman just sign him?
I really don’t like Reyes…always laughing when he comes up too bat
March 22nd, 20092:54 pm
Boone looks to have solid stuff….just didn’t locate last inning..Reyes tries to bunt and pops out to the catcher
Frank from KS
March 22nd, 20092:55 pm
Kansas up early 13-7 against Dayton with 11:30 to go in the first half
Never mind my idea…
Clay – is Frenchy still in the game? What has he done at the plate today?
Is he laughing now, Clay?

see, he came back and had a great inning
Doc Holiday (11:19 am): ” You want the guy with the most experience out there to minimize the risk of making a dumb defensive play. JRo is very good at SS, but if you are looking for experience, Jeter is the man. We could argue about it all day. I think is not that bad a decision.”
So, eight year veteran, reigning World Series shortstop 29-year old Rollins must STILL defer in the field to 34-year old, lead-footed dinosaur Jeter??? Because of “experience”?!?!?
Gimme a break.
Dan – I agree. Unfortunately the Braves pulled that offer after Ohman left it on the table for 2+ months and spent it on a LFer we don’t need.
Diaz tries to bunt..too bad he bunted to the first base side…1 out
March 22nd, 20092:57 pm
If no Ohman, I vote we use a Gribtab-loogy this year. That’s a GoodRightyIsBetterThanAbad-Loogy specialist. Bobby won’t do it, though.
March 22nd, 20092:58 pm
random agreed on jeter. not that hes a bad player, but with rollins on the team, jeter should be relegated to pinch hitting and maybe DH. if it were me, i would DH dunn everygame and have victrino in the outfield instead. defense is important, and i think davey johnson is playing jeter so he wont hurt his feelings, because its definetly not to give the team the best chance to win.
March 22nd, 20092:59 pm
Frenchy was replaced by Heyward after his last at bat last inning…He was 0-2 with a walk today.
PTBNL- Actually he is they just interviewed him..haha
I hope Garret Anderson does well but I didn’t think we needed him. Matt Diaz didn’t get enough time to prove himself. Hopefully they’ll switch every 3 games.
March 22nd, 20093:00 pm
Prado flies out to left and Colina flies out to center
March 22nd, 20093:01 pm
C’s, I agree. Wish we could redo that Anderson signing(quick repulse to Ken Griffey Jr) and sign Ohman. Even DOB would be happy with that…
O ‘Flaherty now pitching
March 22nd, 20093:02 pm
Heyward is in for Jeff who went 0 for 2 with a walk for whoever asked
Lead off double for Luis
How long do we have to wait, until Carroll acknowledges EVERYBODY wants to TALK about WILL OHMAN and responds whats her take on the BRAVES being extremely cheap and are not willing to spend on a REAL loogy…
I cannot believe they want a championship caliber team, and are not ready to go forward and sign OHMAN.
FW really p..sss..ess me off with his approach towards the LOOGY situation, it is OBVIOUSSSSS we need Ohman, the braves do not want to spend 2 mill on ohman, but were willing to spend it on washout G Anderson, which no other team would have take, except the loosers of the mariners or pirates…
I can’t understand why someone (Wren in particular, but really anyone) doesn’t just sign Ohman, I mean if Ohman is good again but our new guys are also good, we just trade Ohman or a new guy at the break.
you can always get something for a lefty at the break.
March 22nd, 20093:03 pm
Yeah, I don’t HATE the GA signing. Just think it was unnecessary. I think a Diaz/Jones platoon could give us similar numbers at a cheaper cost. And we could have spent the money on Ohman.
and B JONES would have done an identical job for min salary…
this is embarrasing
Hmmm. Kinda surprised Andruw is going this route.
From MLB.com –
“We let Andruw know last week that he’s not in the mix as an everyday player,” Daniels said. “To his credit, he’s willing to play any role on the club we see fit or do what Ron sees fit.”
Jones is in camp on a Minor League contract, and the Rangers have no plans as yet to add him to their 25-man roster. Under those circumstances, he has until midnight ET on Monday to exercise an out clause in his contract and become a free agent.
“That’s unresolved, but he has indicated a desire to stay with us,” Daniels said.
Daniels said the Rangers did not ask Jones about the possibility of starting the season in the Minor Leagues.
If Jones makes the team, he would be the fifth outfielder behind David Murphy, Josh Hamilton, Nelson Cruz and Marlon Byrd. He could also get time as a right-handed DH in a platoon situation with Hank Blalock.
The Rangers would have to make room for Jones by moving Frank Catalanotto, either through a trade before the end of Spring Training or by releasing him. If so, they would still be obligated for the $6 million remaining on Catalanotto’s contract.
But what’s done, is done.
March 22nd, 20093:04 pm
Murphy is a solid hitter…fists one thru the hole between the shortstop and 3rd baseman
March 22nd, 20093:05 pm
Base hit 4-1
Who cares what JJ’s ERA is in ST? Bobby knows how he pitched so it doesn’t matter that he got one run charged against him.
Is score still 3-1 or did Murphy have an RBI single?
Why would somebody trade a third base prospect for Ohman if they won’t sign him now?
March 22nd, 20093:06 pm
wow…another base hit…bases loaded
Now O’ Flaherty can’t get lefties.
four consecutive hits off Eric O’Flaherty. tough day for the lefties
Cause he wants to much money…
wow mets are lighting up O ‘Flaherty right now. Already given up one run and now bases loaded with no outs.
March 22nd, 20093:08 pm
Oklahoma State leads PITT by 8 with 11:14 left in the first half, for all those interested.
6-1 still no outs
Dan, if he is traded, his contract would go with him… the money would be the same… plus the team trading for him would lose players in the trade.
March 22nd, 20093:09 pm
ugly play…bloop hit to right..Heyward bobbles it throws home and the 1st baseman tries to cut it and goes off his glove….2 runs
March 22nd, 20093:10 pm
now our 2nd LOOGY is showing his stuff….double, single , single, single 3 rbi mets…no OUTSSSSSSS
I am sorry but this team will not COMPETE wihtout a solid LOOGY ! in a division were the big boppers are left handed … UTLEY, HOWARD, DELGADO, RAMIREZ, BELTRAN ( I know he is SH but hits much better LH) and heck…the best pitchers in the league are LHP (Santana Hamels et al..) and we dont even have a LHP sin the Starting Rotation for the exception of Glav, who is a 5 spot and throws 80 MPH…. we couldnt get a RH bat !!! to go after this guys ..
sorry it is a bigger task …lets think hopefully for 2010 with NO FW
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
