Good Lick Freddie!!! What A Shot!!!
wow what a swing from freddie
February 26th, 20093:30 pm
ESPN is to the Yankees/Red Sox as MSNBC=Obama, Fox=Republican. It’s just that simple. Although Fox is a little more fair and balanced,(sorry, had to throw that in there).
Is Freddie Kotchman’s Successor…?
Freddy Freeman goes yard!!! I saw him in Asheville last year and he was killing it
Steve from OH
Nice poke there by Freeman. That was DEEP.
In tribute to those who wanted Griffey, Garret Anderson’s music will be “Love The One You’re With.”
Freeman demolished that ball. Very nice, short swing there.
Freddie Freeman comes to the plate with War’s “Low Rider” playing. And CRUSHES FIRST-PITCH HOMER to RF bullpen off LH Gilbert De La Vara
tie game long homer over rightfield wall
Interesting reading comments from “Braves fans” who are already knocking the team and the kids we have been itching to see.
Curious if they are really Braves fans.
Remember folks this is the second game of SPRING TRAINING! Everyone’s control is not perfect. Everyone is not pitching at 100% strength.
Hanson showed off why he is considered one of the best prospects in baseball, and effortless throwing motion that produce nice velocity and he has 3-4 good pitches.
NO he was not perfect today, his control was a bit off, I am sure he was a little more nervous than he let on.
If you are not pumped about Hanson’s potential, I really wonder
- if you know anything about baseball.
- if you have followed the Braves at all ever.
- if you are a Braves fan at all.
Heck, even Anders sees the potential in the guy.
Anders hates the Braves…..

February 26th, 20093:34 pm
Heyward, Freeman, Schafer, Hanson…..WOW! Is the future off the hook or what?????
Braves Fan 88
Take it easy on Hanson. The kid has thrown 2 innings in spring training and gives up a couple of runs and you are ready to right him off!?! Most veteran pitchers take a few outings in the spring to get comfortable much less a young kid making his debut with the big league club. It’s the quality of the pitches and the velocity that you need to worry about, not how many runs he gives up. According to DOB the kid threw several good pitches and notched a few strikeouts with good velocity. I’m satisfied.
I was thinking Garret Anderson’s song will be Charlie Robison’s “You’re not the Best, but You’re the Best that I can do”
trying to get caught up here guys, I heard the 1st 4 innings, and I saw Freeman got another homer.
compariing heyward to fred the crimedog mcgriff
Nice gapper by Boscan. Very sweet swing. Braves up 8-7
Stephen (in Troy)
February 26th, 20093:35 pm
Hey Heyward, Fred McGriff called from 20 years ago… wants his look back.
Boscan? 8-7 Braves.
Good Lick…Now We’re Getting Somewhere where is the Chant, LOL, J/K
Look at the big man run!
I like to see that hustle.
J.C. Boscan ropes an RBI double to left-center gap to bring in go-ahead run, Braves 8-7 with one out in the eighth.
Anders, you watchin what your Mutts will be facing in a year, maybe two?
ball hit in the gap brves take the lead by b jones
8-7 ? hits a dbl heyward scores from 1st
February 26th, 20093:36 pm
I just Hope That G. Anderson doesn’t come out to that Pop-Tart Soulja Boy Garbage!
7-7, exciting game. I wish mlb.tv worked.
How was Hayward running the base path?? Is he quick once he gets that big body moving??
guys heyward looks like a pure beast
DOB- where do they project Freeman to play, 1st or third?
February 26th, 20093:37 pm
Well, I for one am pretty psyched about all this upcoming talent. Lots of good stuff today
boy you gotta be excited about the braves future!!!!!!
February 26th, 20093:38 pm
2 out man at 2nd
HEYWARD IS 19? That boy looks 27-28. I can see a Ryan Howard comparison, with, hopefully, less K’s.
can I get a recap from someone, from 4th inning on?
Daniel – Heyward is projected for the OF
Gotta Co-Sign About the Big Man Hustle…I’m pretty sure if One of the outfielders gets hurt in the second half Heyward will get his shot
And BTW, I just became a fan of his on Facebook
heyward scored from 1st he can really run for guy his size!!!!!
February 26th, 20093:39 pm
Daniel – my bad freeman at 1b
Matty Diaz really IS looking like he’s in better shape. Slimmed down a bit.
I was asking about Freeman, JP
brian, yeah, Heyward runs very well for a big guy.
February 26th, 20093:40 pm
Steve from OH,
I agree! Maybe all three!
I for one am PUMPED at seeing Hanson, Heyward, Freeman and Schafer. This year will be fun, next year will be great and 2011 will be awesome.
diaz hits fly to cf top 9 8-7 good guys
daniel the braves have scored six runs the past 2 innings to take a 8-7 lead
who’s pitching now?
Braves Fan 88
AndyC, he was special today is all I’m saying. In fact, if he was some other prospect that is exactly what everyone would be saying today. But since he’s Hanson, we’re not supposed to say anything bad. Well screw that, he wasn’t worth the hype today. May be next time. Now Freeman, he has been worth the hype so far.
February 26th, 20093:41 pm
So I go out to buy a new printer cartridge and we start hitting, glad I DRV’d it all
Aight gotta Ask again…? Question for the commercial break: What At-Bat Music will G. Anderson use…? For me gotta go with old Mystiakl “Here I Go” that Sheffield use to use…Or Cam’ron’s “Oh Boy”…
thanks jwilli and bf
February 26th, 20093:42 pm
See, I told you Bobby Cox could manage. What a winner!
guys may we contend for a playoff spot this year and maybe for the years to come
February 26th, 20093:43 pm
Parr gets k 1 out
February 26th, 20093:44 pm
Man Parr has looked Good! I thought this squad had no shot after 5 innings…Good to see the Young cats Come out Smokin!
I dunno, Braves Fan 88, Hanson’s actual pitches were really really good. Especially the high top speed of the fastball (99????) and the nasty movement on the curve and slider. I was really impressed.
I think it should be Strawberry Letter 23 TH
Only 4,717 in attendance for Braves’ home opener. Yikes.
February 26th, 20093:45 pm
At what point – Schafer for Frenchy / Freeman for Kotchman?
February 26th, 20093:46 pm
DOB, what’s the usual number in attendance for a spring training game?
TN Jeff- Schaffer may get the cf job this year. 2011 on Freeman
Flange1, ditto. Can’t wait to see all of them up, playing with the “vets” Yunel, Kelly, BMac, and Jurrjens…and who knows? Maybe we can get Chipper out of the rocking chair for one last go at a title!
The thing that impresses me most about Freeman and Heyward is that they don’t look overmatched in the least bit in big-league camp as 19-year olds. That’s impressive. I mean, that HR from Freeman was a man’s HR. DEEP. And even Coach seems to be on the bandwagon, so that should tell you something! (jk, Coach!)
How did Francoeur get his hit?
You see why Wren did not want to trade more of our talent (Flowers was bad enough). Overall you could say he did pretty well to give us a respectable rotation and a professional hitter in Anderson for cheap to hold us over. The way he did it makes him his own worst enemy. I don’t think Peavy would come here even if a trade was agreed upon (Towers used us), Burnett and Furcal used us, Griffey abused us. Don’t expect to know much about future trades, it’s going to make DOB’s job harder.
February 26th, 20093:47 pm
Who is “David O’Brien” and what makes him so special that all his posts get to be highlighted? I feel it diminishes the rest of us.
Although Bobby really likes Freeman
What did Francoeur do with his at bats? Any hits?
February 26th, 20093:48 pm
He’ll use Check Yo Self.
Yeah, Frenchy put a nice stroke on one for a base hit to left. The other two AB were groundouts if I recall correctly…
Nice Come Back Victory 4 Dem Braves (And I thought they were gonna get clowned!) Good to see the Kids be resiliant!
And we Finally won a game decided by 1 Run, Hope that pans out that way in the regular season
18 Wheels of Love
Is that a low attendance figure?
February 26th, 20093:49 pm
Braves win, Braves win, Braves win ! Scores and highlights coming up in the tenth inning.
Chop Chop, LOL, That would Rule If he Used That, Or Old Ice Cube’s Wicked!!! That is a classic!
February 26th, 20093:50 pm
BRAVES WIN! BRAVES WIN! BRAVES WIN! BRAVES WIN!
February 26th, 20093:51 pm
Tomahawkin’, I always thought Woo-Ha would be a good intro – it’ll definitely get the crowd amped.
February 26th, 20093:52 pm
You Must be a Rookie On Here To Not know who D.O.B. Is…?
He Is The Mouth Of The South…He Is the ShowStopper, The Icon, He Writes the Blog and has 4 years…
DOB,where are Freeman and Heyward going to start the season AA or AAA?
I don t believe what I just saw. We won THAT game. Wow.
I stopped listening to rap around ‘95 or so. I’m not really sure why.
L.A. Freeway for the blog lyrics on Garret Anderson’s first game-day? Perfect fit if you haven’t used it yet.
If Freeman keeps doing this, bye bye Kotchman. I think they’re gonna let Kotchman walk at the end of the season if Freeman rips up the minors
February 26th, 20093:53 pm
Thrill-House Woo-Hah Is My Jam…! That would be dope is they pulled out that old Busta At the Ted…!
Good to win one run game
Strohs have to be wunderin wtf jus happened?
Nice win, Braves! Good come from behind action.
I like Heyward! Really good runner. He’s only 19? Darn…thought maybe he was older so he could come up like…now…
February 26th, 2009
Same way a blind squirrel finds a nut, I’m guessing.
February 26th, 20093:54 pm
Just reread your comments and it appears that Hanson missed with an awful lot of his fastballs. You also mentioned a lot of late movement. Is this just first game issues, or will he struggle to control his fastball?
According to BravesFan……Roy Oswalt should be worried too…..i mean he gave up 2 runs just like Hanson did.
Just a terrible day for both those guys…..i mean, who cares that they were hitting high 90’s on the radar gun, and throwing nasty pitches, straight up baffling opposing hitters…..they both hit a batter, and gave up 2 runs……Obviously Oswalt needs to go back to the minors also!!
I guess you and i see things differently though….you sure must have a miserable outlook on life though, if you are a true BRAVESFAN, and came away upset or disappointed with Hanson’s debut!! But i guess you are right in a sense….it does suck to have a 19 year old kid, who’s 6′6″ tall, throws up to 99 mph, as a STARTING PITCHER, and has done nothing but dominate his whole career so far.
And i thought that Frank Wren was bad………thank God you’re not the General Manager!! You might as well go ahead and try and nitpick the kid to death while you can, because you won’t have long before that kid is at the top of our rotation.
