cvbraves, across the Tar River? Can’t remember BBQ place, but I remember a place that had the best hot dogs imaginable, that was right across the Tar River.
I lived a a block from the Tar River. My grandma moved into the house after we moved to Memphis, and that flood about 6-7 years ago that covered much of Greenville went to the rooftop of the house. They razed it and all others on that end of my old street.
Regarding our new OF, don’t throw away Diaz quite yet. While Anderson hits LHP for average, there’s no power, or wasn’t last year. .290/.703; 1/15 in 124 ABs v. LHP. .293/.773; 14/69 in 433 ABs against RHP. He only played 82 games in OF last year, so Braves would be wise to give Diaz those 124 ABs, and a few more.
Anderson’s HR totals from ‘99 to ‘03 were 21, 35, 28, 29, 29. Then, beginning in ‘04, his totals have been 14, 17, 17, 16. Maybe this is just the normal aging process for a guy who will be 37 this summer, but then again, when were the anonymous drug tests given? But then again, I’m sort of resigned to the fact that drugs were a significant part of the baseball culture at least through ‘03. Even if he had some extra help in those earlier years, his HR totals suggest that he’s been clean recently. And then again, it could be just the normal aging process.
The Tommy Hanson thing is very exciting. I am really looking forward to the Tuesday afternoon in April-May when we find out Hanson is going to make his Braves debut, and I glide over to Turner Field to see our future ace.
Last year, we heard a lot about how great the Braves looked in camp, but all that fell very flat when we opened the season with cold bats in DC.
This year, has a different feel. We aren’t being told that we are a WS contender; however, we have some good veterans and a whole bunch of young guys that I can’t wait to see.
Thats where we have to split ways DOB. Aniston just seems like she would be an incredible person to hang out with. And, her body in Along came Polly. Yiazza.

Eric, obviously I don’t know who wrote that, but as you can see, they claimed to be a fan. It might have been him. Since he has not been involved in ST to this point, he probably has been sitting around reading blogs. lol
But that is not the only one. There were several Angels fans who made very positive comments about Anderson. I copied that one because several had wondered about the relationship of Anderson and Kotchman. I realize that what the person said was syrupy, but take away the syrup and there was still something to see there. A few interesting things.
Do u guys agree with the “faux” poll about who u would like to see in the outfield as of now:
Garret Anderson 58.59% 2333
Braves prospects 26.07% 1038
Ken Griffey Jr. 15.34% 611

The Oscars are a SHAM. Best movie of the year wasn’t even nominated! They are liberals who wanna stick it to the movies who actually fans enjoy and wanna appear sophisticated by trumping up movies like “Slumdog”
If I can comment on BBQ, Memphis is good, but there is one place I ate at in North Carolina that was great. I cant remember the name but my sister used to live in Mooresville and it was in Mooresville. However KC is defeintly better than the Carolinas tho.
However if you want the best bbq go to a place called Strawberrys. It is located in Southeast Missouri in a lil town called Holcomb. It is a town of 250 people. You can cut their porksteaks with a plastic fork, thats right a plastic fork. The owner has no teeth so he has to make them that tender so he can eat them. They also have the BEST seasoning! It is truly heaven!
Not sure if it’s been posted, but maybe signing GA helps Kotchman in some weird way. May help him get more comfortable in Atlanta with a familiar face.
I think Kotchman will have a good year. He’s not regarded too highly by many on here, but I think he’s 20HR/100RBI/.300 capable.
I’m happier with GA than I would’ve been with Griffey. He’s a great clutch hitter, something that was missing on the roster last year.
Mike In H-Town: No. There are others who like it. And many more who don’t mind it. Personally I’m interested to see how it plays out having a consistent hitter on the team over a .200 average and .400 OBP.
Dude – first off I’m cranky, second I live twenty minutes away from Lexington BBQ. I’m the most jaded/spoiled BBQ CONNOISSEUR you’ll ever meet. Having lived in ATL – I was simply asking if the “yes” franchise Sonny’s was still DECENT not GREAT. Big difference! Lastly, Smithfields in NC is a chain, but still considered one of the best places to chow down. So that has nothing to do with anything. If its good, its good. Clearly Sonny’s is not good. Thanks.
Eric from wherever, two can play that game: “WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! You mean there was people who actually liked Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind??? That was one of the dumbest movies I have ever seen. Frankie Knuckles: just funnin’ with you. I’ve been enjoying your postings for the last few weeks, some wit mixed in with some wisdom. Unless you’re an old blogger with a new name , good to have some new denizens on here. Which one are you on the Sopranos?
Speaking of the Sopranos, when it first came out, we didn’t get HBO. Fast-forward a few years later, I’m down at spring training one evening watching tv in the motel, see the Sopranos are on, and say to myself, “Choppinmama, now’s your chance to see this show that everyone is talking about.” So the episode I watch is the one where one of the crazy guys takes a girl out into the parking lot of the Bada Bing and beats her to death.
OK, didn’t get a restful sleep that night, haven’t watched another one since.
Choppinmama — Wow. That brings back some memories. I grew up in Marietta, and there were a couple of Lum’s to choose from. My parents used to take us kids there. I fondly remember their hot dogs being boiled in beer.
And now, as an amateur chef, that’s how I make them. Start with a high quality dog such as Nathans, Vienna Beef, or Hebrew National; almost cover them in a good light-bodied lager, say Heineken, and steam them until they plump. Excellent with a warmed sauerkraut, diced onions, and good deli mustard.
Sure, there are a lot of ways to enjoy a good dog, but out here, my friends really like it when I cook them like this.

, good to have some new denizens on here.

With Francoeur and the Andersons, we’ll go from the team with the fewest outfield homeruns to the team with the fewest outfield homeruns AND walks.

How does that not make sense? You attacked someone’s post for no reason because they were talking about baseball.
