Anders: It is sad that instead of being a fan of your own team, on a blog with other Mets bloggers discussing your team's possibilities and hopes, you spend your time pontificating about a team and it's fans that you care nothing about. You would rather be a constant annoyance to everyone on this blog, most that do not enjoy your contributions(including DOB himself, whose is fairly tolerant), than go somewhere that you might be appreciated and conversed with in a more friendly way. I truly feel sad for you. You must live a life where the only attention you can garner is by being an contarian, thus drawing attention to yourself not for you wit or knowledge, but for your spite and ill intentions. You are like so many of the ill-informed bloggers that have posted on the Griffey signing. They don't bother to see the facts of how and why it concluded the way it did, they just want to rail at someone for the inadequacies of their lives. You seem to be smart enough to see your not wanted here. Ask yourself a question? Why?

DOB: Assuming the Braves find Brandon Jones to not be the answer for the LF platoon and Josh Anderson doesn't beat out Schafer in CF. I think the Cardinals will be willing to move either Ankiel or Chris Duncan for more pitching during spring training. DO you think Duncan could be a fit with Diaz? He seems to hit RHP for avg. and power. I seem to remember his defense is no worse than Diaz. He's cheap $835 thousand. Do you like Duncan for that spot and can either be gotten more reasonably than the other?

Thank you very much for the part you MAY have played in Jr coming back to Seattle. He means way more to us than he would have in Atlanta. You deserve a raise and people here are big fans of yours!!! I think Willie Mays talk with him had a lot more to do with it than the AJC report anyways. Go M's!

You freaks don't know when to shut the hell up do you? Griffey got more money and a front office job with the Mariners after his playing days are over. That is apparently what he wanted along with the adulation he was accustomed to in Seattle. He would have been playing second fiddle to Chipper and a few others had he signed with Atlanta and I doubt his ego could handle that. (Now that is an opinion in case you don't recognize one.)

Read all the facts before you puke on this blog again. All you braying naysayers are pathetic and you are coming off as the idiots you are.

getnathan (12:57 pm): "Phils signed Ibanez and still have much of their WS team intact. Ibanez is an upgrade from Burrell."

I believe you're the only person outside of Bucks County who thinks that.

Matt (1:15 pm): "I’m just curious. Have we made any improvements offensively in the offseason ?"

Replaced Miller with Ross.

Matt (12:56 am) -- You are totally clueless. Totally.

"Agree with me or not, but I feel that this is what has happened."

You feel, huh? Unfortunately for you, it's not simply a matter of opinion -- you are demonstrably wrong in most of the "facts" that presumably form the basis of that opinion.

"Burnett stated that he didn’t want to have to deal with the media and being the ace for the Braves, but throw that one out because he signed with New York. However, read between the lines, and it basically states that he doesn’t want to deal with this newspaper because of the sway that some people have in the Braves front office."

"he doesn’t want to deal with this newspaper because of the sway that some people have in the Braves front office"??? -- this, dear boy, is fabricated from whole cloth. It sure ain't "between the lines" of anything you have written or I have read. Where are you pulling this from???

"The same thing happened to a certain extent with Furcal. I think that the Braves felt that they were pressured by the AJC to sign someone big."

Such bullsiht. I don't have to ask where you're pulling this from -- it's steaming fresh from the 7th planet.

"I think that Frank Wren has again ended up with egg on his face for having too many leaks in his office and his clubhouse."

Neither Wren nor anyone in the Braves front office leaked either the Griffey info or the Furcal info. You're just making stuff up now.

"Btw, I don’t blame DOB at all for this because he was reporting what he believed to be true."

That's mighty big of you. (sarcasm)

Believe you me -- DOB has much higher journalistic standards than to simply report "what he believe[s] to be true". That may be good enough for FOX News (though sometimes they fail to clear even that low bar), but not for a legitimate reporter like DOB.

DOB certainly knows what sources to trust, and how far to trust them, and for what kind of info, as well as to get confirmation or second sources as appropriate. He does NOT report his beliefs -- he saves them for the blog. (And we thank him for them.)

"I hope that he will continue to try to find out as much as he can, but it might be advisable to double check with head honchos before breaking stuff now. Getting burned twice in one offseason doesn’t help your credibility with the national media."

Patronizing much?

In summary -- clueless, totally clueless.

Rick in Jackson (12:51 pm): " have no idea who “Just Listen” is but his comment at 12:06 as to the reason JR went elsewhere certainly makes as much sense as anything."

I'll tell y'all exactly why "JR" "went elsewhere" -- 'cause you AndIdiots kept callin' him "JR".

He goes by "Junior", not "JR".

He was probably rightfully concerned that if he signed with Atlanta, an imminent question might be "Who shot JR?"

DOB:
I understand the wording of what you reported. My question is, why doesn't what you reported mach the headline that goes along with it? I know the headline wasn't something you were responsible for, but someone was...so how did that happen?

Also, why do we need to sign Tom Glavine? Or, as I like to call him...Peanut. Why Peanut? Because for the past couple of years, all he does is get shelled! We have a wealth of youth as well as Jorge Campillo to slide into that 5th spot. Why not save that money to pursue a lead off hitter or power-hitting outfielder to put behind Chipper?
