Stop making excuses. You are very unprofessional and should be without a job. You job is to report information based on reliable sources. You published a rumor....dissapointing and sad.

The thing that bothers me about the Griffey thing is that HE came to US....he begged the Braves........not the other way aroound. The Braves had no interest in him until HE contacted the Braves....so you can be mad at DOB all you like but put the blame where it belongs....Griffey himself...who needs hime.....he's a flake.

This reporter should be more responsible than to publish an outcome on hearsay. I don't blame Hudson for getting upset. I for one, would not believe anything O'Brien reports ever again. As for Griffey going to the Mariners, hey, whats so bad about losing a player who's that "long in the tooth"? The Braves need to start using their "home grown" talent.

i think the whole hudson thing boils down to him just being frustrated. Has there ever been a worse offseason in MLB for a single club than the one we've had this year?? I'm not knocking any of the signings or anything like that. im mainly talking about all of the underhanded/backstabbing events that have transpired with peavy, furcal, griffey, smoltz (i dont blame him at all). That being said, i think huddy just lashed out because this offseason has finally reached a boiling point for him and DOB just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I find it highly unlikely that griffey chose seattle b/c of a damn newspaper report. I think he wanted to go there and finish his career and probably just used us for some leverage and the fact that mays and aaron told him to go back to seattle didnt help matters..

i feel like Frank Wren is Professor Snape, Bud Selig is Voldemort, and DOB is malfoy. too little to have an actual impact, but annoying nonetheless.

Of course it's not DOB's fault... It's Fran Wren (aka Fake Spin)'s fault... The guy needs to shut his big mouth and quit blabbing so much... He runs his mouth so much, it's tipping off other teams to what he is trying to do. That is NOT how you do the GM job. Hold your cards close to your chest, and when the deal is FINALIZED, THEN you can blab about it all you want, Frank. Just ask Scheurholz, he was a master at it. Never heard about the trades until they were done. Scheurholxz needs to make Wren a training DVD to let him know how to properly do his job, that is, of course, if they don't fire his incompetent a$$ first...

WAYNE,

It appears you are hitting on the real deal about Griffey's intent and that was to play one team against the other. Let's face it, that happens all the time. As a matter of fact all of us do it anytime we put something on EBay or any other bidding site. What we are hoping for are two or more bidders for if we only get one we are in trouble.

If I have a car to sell and run an ad for XXXX price (or best offer) I am sure hoping I am going to get more than one offer.

The problem here is that baseball contract negotiations are (in many cases) out in the open and there are hundreds of fans watching every move. And when the final decision comes down the losing fans get upset. What separates the good fans from the bad ones are at times rather dramatic. I will say I never dreamed we would see so many nutcases come out of the woodwork and vent their spleens over a has been star who is fading fast. One thing I noticed is that the most vicious were those whose monickers were some we had never seen on this blog before. Maybe they are regulars who are ashamed to show their real faces. If that is the case they should have known that what they were writing, yelling for DOB's head (literally), was beyond the pale of decency. Idiots like that leave me perplexed.

The other factor is the availability of a blog such as this. Nowhere else in the country (to my knowledge) is there a blog that is as popular as this one. And, that is solely because of the effort David puts into this thing. He is on this site around the clock or so it seems from the timing of many of his posts. It is time we appreciate him for his efforts and get over Griffey. Griffey played this for all it is worth and he made it work. Until he contacted Atlanta he was stuck with one bid for $1 million dollar. He exploited that into the possibility of making $4.5 mil and a job with the team after his playing days are over. I'd say Griffey played this violin perfectly. And there is no way in hell Frank Wren could determine that he was simply being used as a ploy. No way.

Finally it is obvious Tim Hudson was out of line and I hope he is man enough to apologize to David O'Brien for what he said or did, whatever it was.
